El Kamal des de l'inici ha estat molt atent i acollidor. Ens ha gestionat les visites a Ella (les hem gaudit molt) i el transport fins a la següent ciutat. L'allotjament es troba en un entorn immillorable enmig de la selva i a 15 minuts caminant del centre d'Ella. Combina perfectament està tranquil i gaudint de molts bons paisatges amb està a prop del centre i tenir diversos restaurants on anar a sopar o dinar. Molt bona situació també si es vol pujar al little Adams Peak (30 minuts) o anar al Nine arches bridge. L'esmorzar també és molt bo.

The location was great, it is on the path to Little Adams Peak. The room is large, clean and beautifully presented. Views are amazing.

Be aware there are stairs to access property. We did not mind, but if you have mobility issues this could be an issue.

La ubicación, a 5 min en tuk tuk del centro de Ella y punto clave para varias excursiones como Litte Adam’s Peak o Nine Arch Bridge. Kamal fue súper amable y nos recogió de la estación con su propio tuk tuk, también nos acercó una tarde a la ciudad. Se preocupó mucho de que todo estuviera a nuestro gusto.

Struttura pulitissima, in una posizione fantastica a Ella, a pochi minuti a piedi sia dal centro della città che da Little Adam’s Peak e il ponte a nove archi. Lo staff è estremamente cordiale e consigliamo vivamente anche la cooking class con la famiglia ospitante.

Super schöne Aussicht. Sauber überall. Total nettes Personal. Frühstück draußen vom Zimmer war sehr schön.

Super Lage; das Zentrum von Ella erreicht man in etwa 15 Min zu Fuss. An der Strasse dahin gibt es schon viele Restaurants, Shops und SPAs. Zudem liegt sie perfekt für div. Sehenswürdigkeiten. Die Unterkunft ist einfach aber zweckmässig eingerichtet und war sauber. Der Gastgeber war bemüht und hilfsbereit und das Frühstück war lecker. Preis/Leistung top.

The 2 rooms available were clean and comfortable withviews of the garden We saw a mongoose and squirrels playing in the trees.Spice lodge is on the path to Little Adams peak and not far from the passage to 9 arch bridge. Restaurants are close by. Spice lodge is away from most of the noisy part of Ella and is quiet and peaceful. Kamal waa very helpful and his tuk tuk was great for the journey to view 9 arch bridge.

The steps up were a challenge but doable

un sitio genial, super cómodo, cerca de todo pero a la vez suficientemente lejos si te gusta tener tranquilidad. las instalaciones increibles, tranquilidad, limpio, comodo. el personal tambien super amable, una persona super agradable. el desayuno tambien muy bueno. somos una pareja que nos gusta hacer cosas pero también tener nuestro oasis de tranquilidad cuando queremos, y este hotel cumplía perfectamente.

Credo il posto più bello di Ella. Impagabile la vista dalla camera e dalla terrazza anche strutture più lussuose non reggono il confronto. Colazioni buonissime. Rapporto qualità prezzo super. Stanza moderna e pulitissima. Bagno molto bello. Il proprietario ci ha fatto fare anche un tour su una cascata fuori Ella molto bella. Consigliatissimo.

We had a wonderful experience at The Spice Lodge. The views were absolutely amazing, especially at sunset. The staff were very helpful, carrying our luggage up the stairs, assisting us in booking a cooking class, and giving recommendations. The Sri Lankan breakfast was delicious and a great way to begin the say. Would definitely stay here again!

Beautifully peaceful with great views over the valley. A delicious breakfast each morning of fruit and traditional Sri Lankan food. Kamal the owner is attentive and happy to help with luggage up the 100 stairs.

We had a great stay. Kamal was incredibly accommodating, friendly, and kind, making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The room was spacious and comfortable. We also really appreciated the thoughtful touches, such as the pleasant incense and plants. The view from the window was lovely and made the stay even more enjoyable. It is also close to Little Adams Peak and Nine Arches Bridge.

The cons are that there are quite a few steps up to reach the accommodation (but Kamal kindly took our suitcases up for us) and it can get quite loud with the wildlife outside at night.

Die Lage war, wie erwartet, phantastisch und die gesamte Unterkunft ist superschön gestaltet. Wir haben jeden Tag ein anderes landestypisches Frühstück erhalten, was sehr lecker war und der Fussweg zur Stadt war in 20 min gut machbar.

Leider vermehrt Stromausfall und das W-Lan ging auch nur ab und zu. Für Menschen mit Beeinträchtigungen ist der Weg zur Unterkunft erschwerlich, da viele Stufen!

Wir waren dort sehr zufrieden. Der Gastgeber ist nett und hilfsbereit. Das Zimmer ist sauber und der Ausblick wunderschön. Von dort erreicht man schnell alle beliebten Ausflugsziele in Ella, auch fußläufig. Ein besonderes Highlight ist der Kochkurs von der Schwester des Gastgebers. Kann man nur jedem empfehlen.

A accommodation surrounded by nature you feel completely transported from the moment you arrive! Perfectly located at the foot of Little Adam's Peak trail and just 10 minutes from the Nine Arches Bridge. Everything is within easy reach. The place is clean, hot water available nothing is missing. An absolute gem, highly recommended!

Good location and walking distance to town. Beautiful view. Good value for money. There is no vehicle access - only access by stone staircase which may be problematic for people with luggage or with mobility issues. There was a dog below the lodge that barked the entire night and actually impacted our sleep.

Die Unterkunft liegt direkt an dem Wanderweg zum Little Adams Peak und auch die Nine Arches Bridge ist nur 25 Gehminuten entfernt. Der Gastgeber ist sehr freundlich, jederzeit erreichbar und wir hatten gute Gespräche. Er hat sich auch die seit genommen, uns zu einer tollen Wasserfallwanderung zu bringen und dort auf uns zu warten, alles zu einem fairen Preis.

Die Dusche ist etwas besonderes, hat leider nur etwas wenig Wasserdruck.

An absolutely unforgettable stay! The breakfast was amazing every morning — fresh, delicious, and prepared with great care. The views were honestly some of the best I’ve ever seen in my life, overlooking the beautiful jungle and creating a true paradise atmosphere. Waking up surrounded by nature, listening to the sounds of the jungle, and enjoying such breathtaking scenery made this experience truly special. The accommodation was peaceful, comfortable, and perfect for relaxing and reconnecting with nature. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a unique and magical getaway!

Die Unterkunft liegt sehr schön mitten im Grünen und nah beim Little Adam‘s Peak und der Nine Arches Bridge. Allerdings muss man einige Steinstufen zur Unterkunft hochgehen, was mit Koffer evtl. schwierig sein könnte (wir hatten Backpacks und das war ok). Kamal bietet auch Tuk-Tuk Fahrten an. Das Sri Lankische Frühstück war sehr ausgiebig und lecker. Wir haben ebenfalls an dem Kochkurs teilgenommen - sehr zu empfehlen!

Die Matratze ist relativ weich und war auf einer Seite sehr durchgelegen. Die Familie war abends und morgens relativ laut und man konnte sie im Zimmer hören.

Kamal is very welcoming and friendly. Good advice, super service carrying the suitcase . The environment is very nice , with a view to the garden , palm trees , hills and with a lot of plants and flowers. The proximity to the nine bridges and waterfall is really an asset as well to go walking to the city center . The room is really well equipped and super clean . Bed is comfortable

I mentioned to Kamal the led lamps on the wall kept being slightly bright during the night . Nothing to do with the owner but my neighbours were speaking loud at midnight when they came back , as a suggestion to be mentioned to be quiet as both terraces are very close

Familiar property in the middle of the nature, peaceful with enormous windows. The host was helpful and the breakfast was homy and tasteful.

Not in the main town, which has down and upsides. Closer to hiking routes, so that's a plus!

Absolutely loved this property and our host. The property feels secluded and private while not being far off the main strip of restaurants, shops and bars for tourists. It was best little escape from the bustling Ella strip. We were at the Spice Lodge during my birthday and our host Kamal made it so incredibly special for me and a day I will never forget. He went out of his way to create special birthday moments for me and I will forever be grateful. He arranged tours, and taxis and anything we needed during our stay and the breakfast was delicious! The room was very large as was the bathroom and VERY clean. The Spice Lodge was by far the best place we stayed in all of Sri Lanka. I highly highly recommend.

The accommodation is in a quiet location with a fantastic view! It’s been decorated with great care and has a very comfortable bed. We didn’t miss having air conditioning!

A special place with a fantastic terrace and views to unwind for a few days. Kamal is on hand to help with anything. We had a delicious breakfast every day and even attended a really fun cooking class next door which is run by his sister and mother. There are a number of uneven steps up to the property but they are worth the effort!

Kamal was so nice and attentive. He asked us about our days and have advice for planning what to do in Ella. He even offered his own tuktuk service. The Western style breakfast was great. The floors and bathroom were really clean. The view from the balcony was nice, lovely to drink tea and watch the birds. The location is nice, a 2-minute walk to restaurants and 10-minute into the main strip of bars, while the lodge was perched on a hill keeping it quiet at night. I definitely recommend staying here.

Our room didn't have AC, but we didn't need it because Ella is a bit cooler at night. Altogether, it was a perfect stay.

Beautiful view, gorgeous rooms, awesome breakfast and great hosts. An easy walk to 9 arches bridge, Little Adam’s peak, Ella rock and into town. A short walk to “The Green Door” restuarant which is amazing!!!

Quite noisy in the early mornings when the locals and neighbours seem to be up and about.

Great property with very nice view, you feel like you’re in the jungle. The location is super, 20min walk from Ella’s town and really close to Little Adam’s Peak. We wanted to be somewhere more chill and quiet and not in the town, so it was the perfect choice. Amazing breakfast and coffee, you get to choose between European style and Sri Lankan style. You could hear the birds and all the nature’s sounds, while taking your breakfast. Kamal was a great host, really friendly and always happy to help us find out what to do and which is the best way to do it. We would highly recommend it to everyone and if we visit Ella again we will definitely go there again.

Perfekte Lage und tolle Gastfreundschaft! Kamal war ein großartiger Gastgeber. Das Zimmer mit „Balkon“ war sehr schön. Zur Lodge führen ein paar Treppen (nicht barrierefrei), dafür ist die Lage angenehm ruhig und trotzdem nur 10 Minuten zu Fuß vom Zentrum entfernt. Little Adam’s Peak und die Nine Arch Bridge erreicht man jeweils in etwa 30 Minuten, die Lodge liegt direkt am Weg zum Peak. Sehr gutes Frühstück mit Wahl zwischen westlich und sri-lankisch. Insgesamt ein sehr gelungener Aufenthalt – absolut empfehlenswert! 😊

Kamal and his wife have been very lovely hosts. The room was very clean, you can feel the dedication of the owner. It is perfectly located on a hill away from the crowds with an stunning view. We definitely come back.

Por decir algo, señal de wifi muy débil. A nosotros no nos afectó pero por si a alguien si le puede parecer interesante saberlo, tiene unas escaleras para llegar al alojamiento. El dueño te ayuda con las maletas si lo necesitas.

Super Lage in der Natur. Zentral, aber weg vom Touristenstrom. Sympathisches Familienunternehmen: Mutter und Tochter bieten einen Kochkurs an (Mom‘s Kitchen Kochkurs), der Sohn zwei Zimmer. Der Kochkurs findet in einer Outdoor Küche statt. Wir haben nichts Vergleichbares gesehen. Die Zimmer sind einfach aber wunderschön, mit Veranda ins Grün. Am besten gleich Kochkurs und Zimmer zusammen buchen.

Die Unterkunft ist fantastisch gelegen, umgeben von Wald, Teestauden und Vögeln, die Ausstattung ist sehr einfach gezimmert im shabby chic. Der Host hilft mit dem Gepäck über die etwas steile Treppe. Best curry with rise ever zum Frühstück. Tolle cooking class mit Oma und Schwester in der Outdoor Küche.

Luxusproblem: Morgens vielleicht etwas laut, wenn die Familie aufsteht und man selber noch schlafen möchte..:)

Proprietario molto gentile e disponibile, ci ha accompagnati gratuitamente anche in centro con il suo tuk tuk. La struttura ha delle belle terrazze immerse nella natura, dove viene proposta anche la colazione. Posizione ottima per visitare Nine Arch e Little Adam.

Pulizia da migliorare, la colazione era di qualità ma scarsa nella quantità. Per raggiungere le camere c’è una scala molto ripida e lunga, non adatta a tutti soprattutto se hai bagagli grandi e di notte non è illuminata.

Kamal is a great host, and will help you with any questions you might have. The property is located up some stairs, on the same road that leads to Adam's peak. If you go the other way and cross the road, you can also easily walk to nine arches bridge. Overall great location! You can also walk to town, or grab a tuk tuk for ~600 LKR. The room is quiet and peaceful, only the sound of nature! (Those Sri Lankan squirrels..). Breakfast was tasty! The second night, we got a packed breakfast as we had to take the 8:30am train to Nanuoya.

Wonderful stay. Beautiful house sitting upon the tree plantations, just off from the main road in a quiet area. Very spacious bedroom. The host kindly offered to drive us to the Ella railway station in the morning and with a tasty breakfast basket :)

El alojamiento y la habitación es una pasada, de los mejores que hemos estado en todo el viaje. El desayuno también muy bien

Quizás la ubicación porque no está muy céntrico pero perfecto para hacer la excursión de Little Adam’s. Tened en cuenta que para llegar a las habitaciones hay que subir bastantes escaleras por lo que puede no ser apto para personas con movilidad reducida. Nos cobró una cerveza por 1200lkr que nos ofrecieron al llegar, cosa que creemos que es un precio demasiado elevado.

Un nido in mezzo alla giungla, pulitissima e molto accogliente! Quella vetrata immensa sulle piantagioni di té dà la possibilità di sentirsi immersi nel verde direttamente dal letto (il più comodo dello Sri Lanka). Il gestore della struttura è stato disponibilissimo ad aiutarci anche a pianificare il nostro tour ad Ella e la colazione local é molto buona.

No hay mucha luz en la habitación. Debajo de las camas estaba bastante sucios. Si trabajas cara al público se tiene que ser paciente.

I really enjoyed my stay at The spice lodge, Kamal was very attentive and catered to the needs when asked for. The view from the lodge is pretty good and calm. The breakfast that was served was very delicious and I loved it. I definitely recommend this place for people who want something offbeat.

The room and the balcony both were spacious and very clean. Even though the room was close to the main road it had an isolated atmosphere and a great view. The room is very close to the Little Adam’s peak and Nine Arches Brige and a 15-minute walk to the center and the way to the center is walkable. The Sri Lankan breakfast Kamal served was one of the bests I had in Sri lanka. I highly recommend this accomodation!

Nos alojamos dos noches en The Spice Lodge y fue una experiencia excelente. La ubicación es ideal, a solo 30 minutos andando de Little Adam’s Peak, y desde el balcón de la habitación se disfrutan unas vistas increíbles al valle. La habitación tiene todo lo necesario para descansar, pero lo mejor es la familia que lo regenta: son súper amables y hospitalarios. Hicimos un curso de cocina con Irosha y su madre, donde aprendimos a preparar platos típicos que luego cenamos, ¡una de las mejores comidas de nuestro viaje! También tuvimos charlas muy agradables con el hijo de Kamal, que nos hizo sentir como en casa. Un lugar totalmente recomendable por su hospitalidad, entorno y buena comida.

The accomodation was really nice, we really liked the jungle-vibe of the place. The host was rather nice and helpful, he helped us tinker our plan and even helped us arrange transportation to the next accomodation. The breakfests were excellent. Should we ever come back to Ella we would stay there again!

We spent two nights at Spice Lodge in Ella and it was simply spectacular. The room was super comfortable — honestly, some of the best nights of sleep we’ve had in Sri Lanka. Breakfast was outstanding, freshly prepared by Kamal’s mother, and we highly recommend the cooking class with her and Kamal’s sister, which was a wonderful experience. The homestay has a very warm and family atmosphere, everything is spotless clean, and the location is just perfect — only 20 minutes on foot or 5 minutes by tuk-tuk from Ella center, right at the starting point for the Nine Arches Bridge and also a great base for Little Adam’s Peak at sunrise or sunset. Kamal was the perfect host, always kind and helpful. He even took us on a tuk-tuk trip to a waterfall about an hour from Ella, which was an unforgettable experience. In short: great location, great service, spotless cleanliness, and a truly authentic homestay experience. Highly recommended!

Internet works fine for tourists. Maybe not for zoom calls

La struttura è molto pulita e immersa nella natura, leggermente fuori dal centro ma sul percorso per raggiungere nine archs bridge e little Adam’s peak. Colazione molto buona e abbondante con possibilità di scegliere tra una colazione continentale o una colazione tipica dello Sri Lanka.
