Nice stay in the Shizhuo area below Alishan. The host had great communication and was very accommodating. The rooms were clean and great value.
The only watchout is if you are travelling by bus, it is tricky to get around the Alishan area from the BNB. I'd recommend a car/driver if staying in the Shizhuo area.
Fantastic experience, with tea tasting. Very recommended!
Spacious and clean room, with a separate bathroom for very good price. The owner is very hospitable, offered to take you in his car to the bus stop and to the nearest town. You can also try and buy several varieties of local tea here. There are many walking routes with beautiful views around. Keep in mind that there are no shops or restaurants nearby, buses run infrequently, so additional transport is needed.
I loved the warm hospitality of the owner, and the fact that we were staying right above their tea house made the experience even more special. The owner took us to his tea farm, where he shared his knowledge about harvesting, different types of tea leaves, and his journey to becoming a business owner alongside his wife. It truly enriched the entire experience, and I definitely learned a lot more about tea.
I have no complaints about my stay. It was a very pleasant stay for sure.
Everything was amazing, the bed is very cozy and the hosts are the loveliest couple! In the evening I tried different teas (included in the stay) produced in the area 100% recommend
Remus was a great host. He offered to give me a lift to and from various nearby places, and gave me tips on where to go and what to do. The highlight of my stay was definitely the free tea tasting. Remus and his partner were tons of fun to talk to while we tried lots of delicious local tea from their shop. The location is good if you would like to explore the Shizhou tea trails, which I highly recommend.
While the room I stayed in was pretty basic, it was functional.
Room is big for triple beds.
No lift for guests but she allowed us to use for going up only. I don’t understand that part, has lift but not for guest?? Anyway, stair is very narrow so a bit hard to bring down medium bag. No air conditioner in the room, ok during winter, they provide electric blanket. Summer i think will be hot. They should tell inside booking.com all of these conditions not after you booked. Door is not sound-proofed so can hear people talking outside.
Clean and comfortable. Homestay feel/B&B local feel. Hosts were very friendly and helpful, took us to dinner and bus stops to Alishan and also showed us around their tea plantation and held 2 tea tastings for us which was very kind.
Spacious comfy room, lovely owners who did an amazing tea tasting with us and were generally just lovely to chat to. Thank you!
The guest house is conveniently located, it’s easy to access Alishan with the bus, and we got to learn so much about tea and life in Taiwan from the couple of owners. They were incredibly kind and generous to us, and even drove us to a restaurant nearby so we could get dinner. This place is a gem!
Hospitable host, good-sized room, decent amenities. Room was a bit cold but host arranged an electric blanket.
The host couple was super friendly and accommodating. They picked us up from the bus and drove us to have dinner/take a bus to Alishan. In addition, they showed us how to properly the brew tea they themselves grow. Bed was super comfy.
Suuuper kind people they helped us as we had no car and he drove us arround when we needed. He also showed us his tea plantation and we did an amazing tea ceremony. They also speak good english so we could ask a lot of cultural questions about taiwan history and lifestyle. The room was big, good wifi and super clean. The place has amazing sunsets and its very comfortable. Also close from a bus stop if you come from Chiayi. 10/10
Well located. Nice owner. Large room, with kettle for tea.
Plenty of water on the bathroom ground when I arrived, with portable fan ON. A dehumidifier machine was ON too, in the room ! No bath towel (because « eco-friendly », as they say …). But a kind of « paper towel » to be used :( Bed and room were not clean :( Only cash accepted for paying the room :( I usually never post negative comments (see my other ones) but in that case, I did not like to be considered as « the tourist » … Sorry for that.
Staff was nice. Rooms were clean and comfortable.
It was difficult to get here without car or hiring taxi
Everything was clean, neat and well-kept. The bed was comfortable and the room spacious. The owners are absolute gems. They provided a traditional Taiwanese tea ceremony as part of the package. The teas are all top notch.
Would have liked to spend another night or two.
The hosts showed us their tea factory and a sunrise spot. Also, they did two tea tastings with Us and explained us a lot.Great and lovely hosts! We also liked the rooms. There are some beautiful trails nearby too (Mist Trail, Sakura Trail, Tea Trail).
Accessibility by public transport is okay, but obviously not perfect. However, that applies to most accomodations in the Alishan area.
Amazing owners, truly kind and helpful Great location Good for a one night stop
The bed is a bit small for tall people Facilities are minimal but the owner warns you ahead
The owners are really hospitable and kind! We got a ride to the city and a tour of their plantations, where we learned a lot about tea plants and tea production. In the end we got to taste their teas! :) The bed is comfortable and the rooms are spacious and clean.
A really accommodating host, I wanted to buy tea so I asked whether I could drink tea at 9.30pm, we drank till 11 pm and he gave me a free additional packet of tea leaves from the ones we drank. Tea is produced by themselves and is cheaper than elsewhere.
I think the stairs were a problem but the host helped to carry my luggage up. The host probably isn't the best at speaking English so it would be great if you could speak a little Chinese.
The hosts are friendly and willing to fetch us from/to shi zhao bus station as we need to take the bus to HSR. The room is clean and everything we need is there. We enjoy the session of tea tasting particularly. The tea is really nice and we ended up buying a few from them. They even invite us to go to their tea farm but we do not have enough time as we need to catch the bus.
The hotel staff was really kind to drive us to dinner place and even fetch us back after dinner. She was very kind to introduce to use places of visit and even shared a great location to watch sunrise. That location wasn't even shown on google maps.
location of the place, is unfortunately pretty remote. Not good if you haven't rented a car on your own. public transport is pretty infrequent. not a lot of amenities around
We had a great tome at Satoris. The owners supplied us with insider advice and even gave us a private tour through their tea fields.
This has nothing to do with the property: The only thing you need to consider is that if possible rent a motorbike (or car) in Chiayi and then drive up to Alishan. You will save a lot of time since buses dont drive that often and some hiking trails will be far off their routes.
Relatively easy to find
The shower was old and a bit dirty. There seemed to be a working lift but no Access was offered
This guesthouse is very well located, close to beautiful Alishan hikes. Our room was very clean and spacious. The owner took every opportunity to make us feel welcome, and went out of his way to provide us with hike and sunrise information. He and his wife also took time to allow us to taste their tea, which was very good.
Staff (owner): Owner Remus and wife are kind and friendly people. Remus picked us up from the bus stop, and dropped us at the bus stop the next morning when we were leaving. He also offered to drive us to buy dinner if we needed to (although we decided not to as we still had some food with us). Both shared with us some information about tea and also brought us to view tea plantations and helped with some photo-taking on the day we arrived. Facilities: Room and bathroom were very big and clean. There was a water dispenser outside the room for you to fill hot water, so you can make drink in your room. No breakfast but 7-11 card (Twd50) provided for each guest. My purpose staying here is to visit the tea plantations, so it was very kind of the owner to bring us for a brief visit to view tea plantations when we arrived.
There was no lift here for guests to use. Do note that the staircase steps were very high, so if you have knee problems, this might be an issue. Tissue towels were provided for hygiene issue. If you prefer cloth towels, you need to buy from them. Surroundings: Out of the way and inconvenient especially if you didn't have your own transportation. Just cross the road there was a cafe but there were no restaurants that sell full meals. Also the day we arrived, there was huge fog, so I couldn't go explore the area even if I wanted to. This place is 1-hour bus journey from Alishan, so would not be a good choice if your purpose is to explore Alishan, and if you don't have your own transportation.
Cozy room with large bed.
Location is not convenient
The business owner was very considerate and thoughtful of fulfilling our requests. He drove us to eat, to the bus station and the local tribal village as well as visiting the tea plantation to see the Jinxuan tea tree and Oolong tea tree.
Great helpful staff, clean, great tea included, main room looks nice
The hot water stopped working and turned cold 3 times during my shower, that was very unpleasant. The bed is quite hard, weird large single use wipes are given instead of real towels, it's less comfortable and wasteful
Spacious, good sized balcony.
A bit remote and noise.
