Alishan Tea Homestay

Had a terrific stay and would definitely stay there again. Dany and Dora were extremely kind and helpful. Location was great.

Alishan Tea Homestay was a lovely place to stay. The host speaks Chinese, English, and French, which made communication super easy and welcoming. The room was clean, cozy, Highly recommended for a relaxing escape!

We had a peaceful and relaxing stay at Alishan Tea Homestay. The room was clean and cozy, and the tea tasting experience was a lovely touch. The owner was kind and helpful — a perfect spot to unwind in the mountains!

Really great homestay with the host dany bring a great help in planning your trip to alishan. He also offers to pick you up and drop off to the nearest town- Shizhao. It’s around a 20 min walk.

The owners are incredibly kind. Dany is fluent in english and messaged me on whatsapp before arrival and picked me up from another accommodation. He also drove my luggage to the bus stop on departure day, saving me a walk. Another family member drove me up to the start of the mist/tea/cloud trails along with a 7/11 breakfast stop and shared detailed guidance on how to navigate the trails - saved me so much energy and time as the majority of the walk ended up being downhill. All of this made my trip so much easier and is very appreciated. I was upgraded to a room for 4 people which was rather spacious and the snacks were a lovely touch. There's a platform nearby for the sunrise which overlooks a vast tea plantation and so beautiful. The accommodation has a strong tea scent from all the brewing, which I loved and thought complimented the area.

Walls are thin but can be resolved with earplugs. A kettle in the room would've been preferred however there's hot drinking water outside so no issues. I'd recommend & would stay here again.

The hosts were very friendly and helped with getting around the area.

The hospitality of the host family. They took the initiative to WhatsApp you before arrival and the father of the house treated us to their team favoured eggs, and tea. He also recommended us where to have dinner and kindly offered to fetch all 6 of us there and back for dinner since they were free.

Nothing, everything was perfect for us!

The owner is very nice and friendly. We have a tea session with the owner. The room and bathroom were very spacious and clean. It was really comfortable to stay in.. Recommended!

Friendly host, bilingual and approachable. Provides free pickup from Shizhao 石棹 bus stop. Heater in the room, good for people who is afraid of cold. Like the comfortable room space, inductive night light, WiFi, Netflix, etc.

Would be good to bring a hand-carry luggage as there's no lift. The shower head leaks when in use.

Wonderful staff and so accommodating! Friendly, spoke great English and even dropped us off near the hiking trails so we could do some hiking before it got dark.

Beds aren’t super comfortable, particularly the pillows.

The hosts were very helpful! Told us about some interesting "tea trails" and drove ahead of us to take us to the trailhead while they were on their way to pick up their daughter from school.

Everything was fine!

Hosts were kind and took the time to tell us about local food options and things to explore. Host also provided us with a tea tasting experience of teas from their own farm. We were upgraded from a double room to triple room.

To those looking to book on Booking.com, be aware to check the photos under each room type before booking. The listing's 45 profile photos show rooms from their higher end second property. We had not checked the photos of the room we selected and were a bit surprised by the difference. Our recommendation would be for the hosts to have two listings for the two property types to avoid any confusion for guests.

The host was great and understood hospitality: very friendly staff and spotless rooms.

Rooms and hospitality which is difficult to find in Taiwan for a good price.

The hosts were incredibly accommodating and kind. The room was clean and spacious, and the area is so lovely. :)

The property was in a great place to be close to the Alishan recreational area. The staff was incredible. Before I checked in, they called me the day before, and made sure that I knew how to get to Alishan and also how to get to the homestay. They also took me into the nearby city and offered a recommendation for dinner, and it was absolutely incredible. I loved this homestay, and I loved the family that I got to meet.

I have no issues with this property it’s nearby a bootiful lookout spot for sunset and close to the bus stations that can get you up to Alishan or also down to Chiayi. The family is lovely and you are definitely getting a deal for the quality of customer service and closeness to the recreational area.

The host was extremely welcoming and helpful

It would be nice if there were more restaurants around

Communication with the host was really good and received the upfront recommendation to rent a car instead of coming by bus — this was a really good advice! The place itself is in a quiet corner, a bit remote from Alishan National forest so it requires some additional 45 minutes drive to the place. But factoring this in, it is a really nice stay with a couple of restaurant and supermarket options in the area. I had a really good night of sleep!

I like the homestay very much in general, the hosts are very kind and supportive during my stay, and even offer me an upgrade to a beautiful mountain view room that is available, lucky me. The location is quite convenient for public transport. They also have very nice tea. Would love to come back next time I come to Alishan.

Nice, clean hotel in the tea region of Alishan. Bus Station Yongxing is right in front of the door. The owners were so nice to drop me off with their car at a few trails in the area. Also I was given a map of the Alishan National Park, so I could prepare my visit there beforehand.

All good

Very clean & the owners are super friendly & helpful. They let us taste various tea & even cut honey pineapple for us. Highly recommended. There are stairs to access the rooms, but easy with porter service.

Everything. The Guesthouse exceeds my expectation. Super shiny clean Dora and her husband are super nice and accommodating they offer to drop me off and pick me up at Shizao for my trip to Alishan so I can grab food or buy something before going back to the guesthouse. even go beyond dropping my bag off at my next homestay in Anding almost 10km away so I don't have to worry coming back from Fenchihu just to pick up my luggage🥰 super convenient and thankful

Loc No nearby store or resto next main bus stop is at Shizao 3-5 mins drive away

The hosts Dany and Dora were kind and helpful. The property was easy to find and accessible by bus.

We didn’t have our own transport which made it a bit difficult to access amenities.

Our host was kind and went above and beyond to help us plan our activities during our stay.

Alishan Tea Homestay is a great option when you want to visit the tea plantations and Alishan National Forest Recreation Area. The owners are friendly and speak English. They gave us some good recommendations for restaurant + what to see in the park. We also enjoyed the tea tasting and bought some tea from their production. Would definitely recommend!

The room is clean and comfortable, and the area is quiet. The owners are very nice and accommodating, willing to drive us around and give us recommendations for food and activities in the area.

Quick responses. Very helpful and accommodating . The room is very clean and the bed is comfortable. The owners go out of their way to pick us up and drop us off the trail.

We took public transportation, so we have to rely on the owners who can drop us off /pick us up from the restaurant . There are no supermarket around so you have to buy your own breakfast from outside for the following day.

Simple stay, value for money to stay around Alishan Area.

Stayed during 8 degree Celsius, lack of a bed heater

hosts are helpful in providing info regarding to bus time, nearby attractions info and shuttle us according to our need. it’s a big plus!

location wise, no shops nearby and no breakfast provided it means you have to purchase food in advance before. Tho hosts are happy to shuttle you to get food and get you back.

Very nice place - everything was great. The scent of tea in the hallway added to the charm and gave the place a nice atmosphere. The location is a little far from Shizhaou where the nearest restaurants are and were you take the bus to Alishan National Park, but there's a bus stop close by so you can easily reach it from Chiayi even if you don't come by car. The owner was very helpful and drove me to Shizhaou whenever I needed and picked me up again. Also upgraded my room so I got a bigger one. The room was spacious and comfortable. Internet worked really well too. I appreciate it when the accomodation provides reusable slippers instead of disposable ones, so that's an extra plus. Water dispenser in the hallway so easy to refill water and get hot water whenever needed. The location is very quiet so you are guaranteed to sleep well. There's even a little hike close by where you can watch the sunrise. Sadly the morning I tried there was too much mist, but you can't control the weather.

Nothing

It was really cold in Alisan and it was comfy. Room is clean. Good value for money

Room is sort of old. But shower is warm. Very big room.

The hosts are amazing. Their helpfulness and hospitality are unmatched. It is so precious meeting such people. The room was great: comfortable bed, proper shower - all you need after a walk in Alishan. Thank you so much, Dora and Dany, and to your parents. You made our trip extra special. And we hope you had a great one, too!

The owners are incredibly nice and even drove us around a few times, explained where to go to have a nice view at the sunrise and where to eat etc. Very thankful for their warm welcome and care!!

super helpful property owners! they went above and beyond to help us have a great trip

clean and tidy, you can see sun rise at balcony

NA

It was clean and comfortable stay. Dora and Danny are very nice, we arrived at raining day, they picked us up from bus station. The tea arromar full of yhe house, i felt in deep sleep. Dora provide very usefel information for where we could hung on around. Definitly will stay again if come to Alishan next time.

The homestay is situated right on the main road up to Alishan, had comfortable rooms and delicious fresh breakfast. The best part, though, was the owners Dany and Dora who got in touch a few days before our stay with information regarding getting there and made arrangements accordingly. If you are going by public transport, they offer to pick you up too! Dora was extremely helpful and helped me book my bus tickets to Taipei as the website was in Chinese. We were happy with the location as we had our own car so it was easy to get to the restaurants and 7-11 about 5 minutes drive up from the homestay. Alishan forest recreation area was about a 30 minutes drive and Fenqihu and the beautiful tea and bamboo trails in Shizhou are 15-20 minutes by car.

Excellent sta! Super clean, tons of benefits, and above andeyond service. Fluent English speaking management with fantastic recommendations for what to do and the best way to do it. Had I to delay my trip last minute 2 times and they had no problem finding me later dates. Guided us on how to use public transportation the whole way up and have us a really good deal on some of the best tea I've ever had. Highly recommend staying here! If I hadn't had to work we would have stayed an extra night!

Dora and Danny were wonderful hosts. The room was spacious and clean except the bathroom and toilet were not separated and I found the floor very slippery after having a shower. The price we paid was relatively good but I did not realise that it was quite far from Alishan National Park.

Basic equipment, clean bed. Easy parking. Pension run also tea shop. Nice owners, frendly explanation about Alishan tours and their own tea types, drinking method etc. Breakfast coupons for Alishan sunrise tour.

Dany and Dora are outstanding hosts! My wife and I stayed only one night with the goal to see the sunrise at Alishan National Park. We took the high speed rail from Taipei to Chiayi and the bus from Chiayi to Alishan. Dany provided excellent details in clear English on how to navigate the bus system. The explanation, suggestions and ideas about how to get tickets for the sunrise train, and where to watch the sunrise lead to an unforgettable experience for my wife and I where we watched the sunrise in a romantic location with only five other people while a mass of more than 200 crowded together in the general viewing area. We stayed in the Alishan Tea about 9 hours, only to sleep, with the room being clean and well maintained. Dany and Dora went above and beyond to ensure our experience was outstanding and they succeeded. The service level made our stay easy, memorable and highly impressed.

Dany & Dora really went out of their way to accommodate us, picking us up & dropping us off at bus stop, caring for our luggage while we hiked, etc. They made perfect recommendations for our needs. Would highly recommend this spotlessly clean, very affordable B&B! P.S. Hosts are English speaking

Dora and Danny, the hosts, were so kind to let me check in my luggage early and gave me a lift to Fencihu from the bus stop. The room was clean and aircon was not needed (because it’s quite cool in the mountain area). The hostel is a bit far from Alishan. The hosts can help arrange transportation to go up in the morning for sunrise. Wear extra clothes as it can get quite cool in the mountain ranges.

1)The owner also has tea plantation and expert in tea 2)Both the partners are very polite and helpful 3)The daughter very good at English

The owner is very kind. He took time to pick up our luggage from the bus stop, drive us around Shizhuo downtown, and help plan our Alishan trip. Highly recommend for people who travel using public transportation.

Great hosts, very supportive and helpful, smells like delicious tea everywhere

Comfortable room, beautiful location, and the host was incredibly helpful! She gave us all sorts of tips for places to visit, where to eat, and directions to our next stop. She also gave us a crash course in the tea produced there, along with a generous tea tasting! The whole place smells like tea. It was lovely. Highly recommend!

Really enjoy my stay

Very kind owner , and warm welcome with best service

I love the atmosphere around this Homestay. Didn't expect the whole building full of tea leaves smell, so nice, love it. Body and hair shampoo also made of tea essences. They provide free breakfast and free shuttle service. Homestay owner provide us great suggestions about next day activities.

Amazingly nice hosts with excellent English and in a beautiful location. If you love waking up to the smell of freshly baking Oolong tea (and drinking Oolong tea, of course), you can't go wrong with this place. Public transport in the entire Alishan area is limited but workable and our kind hosts were astonishingly helpful both in planning and execution of our itinerary. Simply could not have had a better stay.

very clean and hygienic. you have the choice of normal towel and disposable towel.

Really lovely and spacious room! Hosts were very accommodating, picking me up and dropping me off at Shizhao for food and hikes. They even brought me my bags so that I could catch the bus at Shizhao right after my hike. Really strong internet connection, really quiet place for a good night’s sleep. Highly recommend!!

The whole stay is filled with fragrance of tea.. comfortable and clean room, the bathing gel they provided is also nice fragrance.
