From the moment we arrived at Joy Stay, we felt so welcomed. The staff were incredibly friendly, warm and genuinely helpful throughout our stay. The manager was fantastic and went above and beyond to organise boat tours, transport, lifts and recommendations, making everything so easy for us. ✨ Joy Stay feels like stepping into a little tropical paradise. The villas are tucked away amongst beautiful, lush tropical plants, creating this peaceful hidden-oasis feeling that made it so easy to relax and switch off. Our room was wonderfully cool and comfortable, with fantastic air-conditioning — something we really appreciated in the Vietnamese heat! The beds and sheets were also absolutely beautiful and smelled so fresh and clean. 🌴 The family bungalow was a highlight. It is such a gorgeous little tropical hut, surrounded by greenery, and felt like our own private sanctuary. It was the perfect place for our family to unwind after exploring. 🍜 Joy Stay also has a restaurant serving freshly cooked Vietnamese dishes, which was incredibly convenient and delicious. Being able to enjoy a lovely meal surrounded by all that greenery made the experience even more special. Honestly, I am SO glad we chose to stay here! Of everywhere we've stayed so far, Joy Stay has been the highlight of our trip. It has such a special, peaceful atmosphere, wonderful people and that beautiful tropical feeling that makes you wish you could stay just a little longer. 🌺 Highly recommend Joy Stay — especially if you're looking for somewhere peaceful, welcoming and surrounded by tropical beauty.

Lovely place and a very kind owner who was very helpful, in a quiet part of the island. Comfortable room and nice design. Very easy to arrange bookings and rent a scooter.

Only downside is not much communal space but a little restaurant area is available. Breakfast is included but very basic. Close by beach not very nice but if you are comfortable riding a bike many other beaches are not far off.

Location lies in the middle of Cat Ba. Whole area is a bit smaller than it appears on the photos, so the bungalows stand very close to each other what on the other hand gives a really nice charm to it. We stayed in the family bungalow which gives enough space for a family of four. You need a taxi to get to Cat Ba Town and the beaches, there is no Grab yet available on the island. However, this was no issue as the owner is extremely nice and helpful. Worth to mention: We unfortunately had to check-out earlier due to to typhoon Narra and without even asking he charged us only for the nights we spent.

Endless rain, so think well to stay in Cat Ba mid August. Can be a bit of a lottery, we had bad luck and finally missed to see the Ha Long Bay. Of course nothing the owner is responsible for :) Beach around the corner is not really good so for a good one you have to take a ride to Cat Ba Town.

Joystay es pura tranquilidad. Minh, el host nos ayudó en todo lo que pudo y fue encantador en todo momento con nosotros. Lo recomiendo totalmente. El desayuno lo hacen al momento y está buenísimo.

We stayed 2 Nights at JoyStay and had an amazing time. The owner and his family were really kind. We asked for a different pillow and they offered us one immediately. Breakfast and food were also really good. You can rent an motorbike right Nextdoor. The owner also helps with activities and transport. Thank you very much again!

De ligging.... Wat ver uit de buurt van het centrum, hier moet je met een taxi naartoe, duur rit 20 tot 25 minuten.

Sincèrement je suis très contente d avoir séjourné la bas ,la nourriture est super bonne , le logement super propre et le personnel était vraiment au top , il nous ont aidés pour réserver une journée en bateau, a un prix vraiment bas , et c était super ! Encore merci a toute l équipe,on est parti avec un pincement au cœur, on serait bien restée 1 nuit de plus. Encore merci 🙏❤️

La disponibilité de l’équipe, la qualité du restaurant et le caractère atypique des bungalows. Très bonne literie. Les excursions proposées (baie de Lan Ha ou réserve naturelle) valent le coût !

Het is niet 100% comfortabel, bedden aan de lage kant en meer een soort buiten douche in een binnenhokje.

Minh le propriétaire est absolument adorable et a rendu le séjour très agréable. Il propose un service de restauration, de transport pour aller d’un point à l’autre de l’île, de laverie. La chambre était très confortable. La hutte étant en contact direct avec l’extérieur, je vous conseille de prendre des boules kies pour les nuits orageuses et pluvieuses. L’hôtel est à 15 minutes du centre de la ville de cat ba en voiture mais nous avons trouvé cela très bien de s’en éloigner pour être au calme. Nous recommandons à 100% !

Le petit déjeuner était délicieux, seulement je trouvais les quantités un peu petites.

We had such a lovely stay at Joystay 💛 The homestay is run by two incredibly friendly brothers who make you feel welcome from the very first moment. Their service is warm, genuine, and always attentive. The bungalows are super cute and cozy—perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring. And the food… wow! Absolutely delicious. We especially loved the fish with tomato sauce—so fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. A really nice experience overall—we’d happily come back!

I missed a nice outside area at our bungalow to sit and chill. And the air conditioning is quite noisy. And some other noise, I think from the water pump.

Superleuke, schattige huisjes. Hele vriendelijke mensen die alles voor je willen regelen, goed Engels, lekker en goed ontbijt en top airco. Uitstekende prijs-kwaliteit verhouding. De bus naar Tam Coc kun je ter plekke regelen en stop (bijna) voor de deur.

Super vriendelijke familie. Het ligt wat buiten het centrum, wat lekker rustig is. Ideaal dat je ter plekke een scooter kan huren. Onze bus kwam vroeger aan dan verwacht en ze hebben er alles aan gedaan om zo snel mogelijk een kamer klaar te krijgen. Hierdoor konden we al om 09u00 inchecken, heerlijk!

Les bungalows sont très confortables, bien équipés. Le petit déjeuner est simple mais bon Très bon rapport qualité-prix

De service en de vriendelijkheid van de eigenaar. We kregen gelijk drinken bij aankomst. Hij vraagt of hij wat voor je kan doen en doet het dan ook en meer. Zo bracht hij onze bagage naar de Bushalte en wachten daar met ons op de bus, zodat we zeker de juiste bus hadden. Het huisje was eenvoudig maar goed en de douche was goed warm. Het ontbijt was eenvoudig, maar goed. Het diner kan ik niet beoordelen dat hebben we een paar honderd meter verder op genuttigd.

Tegen valt het me niet echt, maar hij zou wat kunnen doen aan de aankleding van de eetruimte.

Heel fijn verblijf gehad! De huisjes zijn eenvoudig en primitief, maar juist daardoor ontzettend sfeervol en helemaal passend bij de omgeving. Alles wat je nodig hebt is aanwezig en het bed was heerlijk. De eigenaar is ontzettend gastvrij, vriendelijk en dankbaar; we zouden hier zo weer terugkomen. We hebben genoten van het lekkere ontbijt en de verse smoothies. Ook hebben we via het hotel een tour naar Lan Ha Bay geregeld, en werkelijk alles was tot in de puntjes geregeld, inclusief het taxivervoer. Er is geen zwembad, maar dat hebben we totaal niet gemist: Cat Ba Town Public Beach en de boottocht door Lan Ha Bay zorgden voor heerlijke verkoeling. Een heel fijne en sfeervolle plek!

Het huisje is wat beperkt qua ruimte en voor ons voelde het bed wat hard aan.

חדר נקי, מצויד מאוד ומטופח. בעל המלון איש נחמד ביותר ומאוד שירותי. יצא מגידרו לעזור. במתחם המלון יש גם השכרת טוסטוסים. די קרוב לפארק הלאומי ולבר-מסעדה המעולה על הים שנקראת the healing camp.

De bungalows of tiny houses zijn super schattig en waren brandschoon. Ontbijt is prima, wij hadden beide ochtenden de bananen pannenkoekjes en koffie. Je kunt er ook lunchen en avondeten wat wel zo makkelijk is want in de omgeving is weinig op loopafstand. Het eten is prima, maar niet heel bijzonder. Maar voor een kort verblijf is het prima.

Jammer dat er niet wat leuke andere restaurantjes op afstand waren.

Possibilité de manger sur place à toute heure, nourriture super bonne et personnel très gentil. Ils proposent également des services tels que des tours à la journée ainsi que des trajets en bus pour les grandes villes à des prix très abordables.

Die Unterkunft war sauber und schön. Die Lage war auch sehr ruhig. Der Host war sehr sehr hilfsbereit, er hat für uns die Bootstour gebucht (30€ pro Person), uns Roller vermietet (5€/Tag) und ein privates Taxi (5€/fahrt) organisiert. Außerdem hat er geregelt, dass unser 12GO Bus uns direkt beim Homestay abholt und wir nicht erst in die Stadt fahren müssen. Wir haben uns bei der Bootstour für Tour 1 mit Cat Ba Vision entschieden. Das Essen an Bord war sehr lecker und es ganz auch viele vegetarische Optionen. Und die Pancakes waren wirklich sehr lecker!

Die Unterkunft war wirklich hellhörig.

Nous étions excentrée en pleine nature et loin de tout les immeubles de la ville. Un resort très mignon. Et le personnel très aimable et à notre écoute.

Il a un mégaphone qui sonne vers 6h du matin avec des annonces.... Et pour nos standards la chambre n'était pas très propre dans les coins mais le prix nous paraît plus que raisonnable.

Très joli petit chalet dans un beau jardin. Les chalets (climatisés) sont très proches les uns des autres mais nous n’avons eu aucune nuisance. Literie excellente et salle de bain simple mais propre. Petit déjeuner inclus plutôt simple. Accueil très sympathique et très bon service. À proximité de l’arrêt de bus pour Cat Ba Town, mais location de scooter très abordable.

Przesympatyczny, pomocny gospodarz. Może nie za duże, ale ładne i przytulne miejsce. Bardzo klimatyczne domki, zadbany ogród. Gospodarz zorganizował nam transport na lotnisko, pomógł z dosuszeniem prania, co jest kłopotliwe w tamtym klimacie.

The location is not the best, although there are nice restaurants close by.

Such gorgeous bungalows! Staff could not do more for us, they are so welcoming and friendly, accommodating us when we were stranded for an extra night due to a mini typhoon. Highly recommend!!

Zeer fijne gastheer die ons met al onze vragen heeft bijgestaan. Boekte een dagcruise voor ons naar de La Han Bay en regelde ook onze bus naar de volgende bestemming. Locatie is top, je kan er ter plaatse een motor huren. Aanrader!

Did not look like the photos made it out to be, right on a main road, not as tranquil serenity as I thought it would be. Breakfast was fine, nothing great. Was on the bus route which was handy, staff were very kind

It is a little out of town and we found the bus quite complicated. A private taxi was 150K each way but super easy.

The property was excellent and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and the linen smelt lovely and the breakfast was very tasty. The owner was very accommodating and was happy to move some things around when we extended our stay by one night. We could also book our onward bus via the reception and the owners brother even accompanied us with umbrellas to the bus stop as it was raining, top service!

The property was great but the nearby beach was covered in litter and not the most appealing swim spot, although I did see a few locals swimming there. For better beaches you need to travel around 20 minutes into Cat Ba town, you can rent a moped from the reception for a small fee which makes this fairly straightforward or there is a local bus service.

JoyStay is a lovely place to stay and the staff are welcoming and friendly. The little chalets are simple but have all you need and are excellent value for money. Quiet location with beach not far away as well as a good bar and restaurant just up the road . The restaurant at JoyStay if the breakfast is anything to go by serves excellent food however we just fancied a wander and the staff were happy to tell us where the nearest bar was .

The beds were comfortable and the owner spoke great English and was very accommodating.

The family bungalow really need a table and chairs as there is no where to sit except on the floor or the bed that is right on the floor. Not ideal for westerners. The homestays is 9km out of Cat Ba town and Grabs are no allowed on the island so you need to take a taxi for 150,000 each way. The motorbike rental right next to the homestays is TERRIBLE. Our 1st motorbike broke down in town, had to wait for another to arrive, but the 2nd one the speedometer door not work, only one mirror that you could not adjust, no phone holder, the seat did not lock so storage under the seat was not secure, and the breaks were horrible. Do not rent a motorbike from him!!

Just note that you're not in the main town, but that's actually much better I think. You can rent a scooter or they can organize a taxi trip for you.

The bungalows were small but lovely. In terms of value for money, it was great! Breakfast was tasty and the staff were very helpful in arranging transport to and from the island.

The bathrooms are not fully closed off to the outside - a deliberate choice of course, but it does have consequences for mosquitoes getting inside. The shower is in the same small room as the toilet, so the toilet gets very wet. The water also often found its way into the bedroom. A small note to the staff - in my opinion, the electricity plugs high in the shower room pose a safety hazard. Please fix it so nothing bad can happen :)

La struttura si trova fuori città ma propone un servizio di affitto di motorini molto comodi. Stanza comoda e fresca, abbiamo potuto usufruire delle docce nel pomeriggio del giorno del ck-out il che è stato davvero utile. Personale gentilissimo, ci tornerei.

J’ai adoré mon séjour chez JoyStay, la chambre était parfaite, le cadre aussi, tout ! Le personnel était au petit soin, avec taxis et location de scooters. On pouvait aussi manger sur place et c’était un régal. J’ai adoré mon séjour et reviendrait très probablement ! (J’a aussi oublié mon maillot de bain la bas et ils me l’ont gentiment expédié à mon prochain hôtel 🙏🏻)

This was our favourite accommodation on our 10-day trip in Vietnam. The room is actually a bit more basic than I was expecting, but absolutely perfect nonetheless - clean, crisp and comfortable bedding, stunning natural light from the windows and a really pleasant shower. It's not a luxury stay, but basic and comfortable. The property itself is so cute and surrounded by a beautiful lush garden and the sound of roosters from next door in the morning. What really stood out was the staff! The two brothers were so kind, friendly and smiley, offering to help with just about anything and incredible hospitable. We ended up hanging out and eating in the outdoor area for almost all our meals. The food was fresh and delicious every time. The location is a bit far from Cat Ba town, but for us this was an advantage as the main town is super touristy and this place is away from all the construction and noise. The brothers also drove us to and from locations at a small extra cost which was incredibly convenient and made the location no problem at all.

Since the bathroom area of the huts is partially exposed to the outside, you can hear others quite easily. Just make sure to close the door when in the room for noise and bugs!
