Cat Ba Spring Homestay

We had a wonderful stay at this property. The room was spacious and well-equipped, and the bed was incredibly comfortable. The pool was great, and the breakfast was delicious. The staff were very helpful; when we asked if we could stay an extra night, they sorted it out for us immediately.

Es war eine nette bungalowähnliche Unterkunft in ländlicher Umgebung. Netter Garten mit schönem Pool. Das Zimmer war groß genug und sauber. Mit dem Moped, welches man direkt in der Unterkunft leihen kann, ist man in ca. 20 Minuten in CatBa Ort. Ohne Moped ist es schwierig.

Beim Frühstück konnte man von der Karte nur genau ein Gericht und ein Getränk wählen. Die Portionen waren zwar groß, aber zumindest ein Saft zum Kaffee hätte es schon sein können...

Kai gave us a lovely welcome but everything changed for me when he showed us the room. The door was dirty to start with but then inside smelt strongly of cigarettes. The room just generally was very dark and drab. Somewhat disheartened we went to get some lunch at the homestay when my daughter found several ants in her pho. She couldn't eat it, at which point none of us were enjoying our experience. No sign of Judy either. We had read so many good reviews about her and her fantastic service at CatBa Dpring Homestay but we never met her. The pool looked a little sad and green too. We decided to move out and find somewhere else to stay, not even having been there for 2 hrs. We chose another Homestay nearby where we learned Judy was no longer there and Catba Spring Homestay was under new management. That explained a few things. Kai took our concerns seriously and apologized and the Homestay even refunded our stay there so no money lost . He seemed to be a fairly decent guy all in all. Just disappointing to think the Homestay is running on all the positive comments from the previous owner without the same level.of standards.

Das sehr freundliche und hilfsbereite Personal, die Unterkunft, der Pool, alles wunderbar. Die Besitzer kochen morgens, mittags und abends. Wir haben die ruhige Lage sehr genossen, sind aber auch mit dem Roller in die Stadt und auf der Insel herum gefahren. Außerdem wurde uns eine Bootstour gebucht, bei der wir direkt abgeholt und wieder zurück gebracht wurden. Alles sehr einfach. Es war ein rundum schöner Aufenthalt. Vielen Dank an Kai und die Besitzer.

En todo momento pendiente de nuestra llegada para llegar a tiempo a la excursión que nos organizaron, en un barquito privado para 4, la misma ruta que los tours o excursiones abarrotados, kayak, isla de monos, parque natural, fishing village. Solo los 4 y a nuestro ritmo, sin aglomeraciones, con flexibilidad. Con el taxi ida y vuelta incluido, cero preocupaciones. Piscina refrescante. Cena y desayuno ricos, las tortitas deliciosas. Wi fi funcionaba muy bien.

The host is extremely kind and helpful with our organisation. The place is nice and quite, with a large common room with billiard and pool. Good breakfast and laundry service. We also rented the scooter.

Kaï a été super à l'écoute dès notre arrivée et nous a envoyé un taxi pour aller au homestay. Les bungalows sont très simples, ils mériteraient plus d'étagères surtout pour 4 personnes mais la literie était très bonne. Les repas sont copieux et bons.

Gerüche im Bad nach dem Duschen, wenige Pool -Liegen, die immer durch abgelegte Gegenstände „reserviert waren. Gemietete Scooter funktionierten nicht immer zuverlässig, wurden aber umgetauscht. Der lokale Strand am Ort war verdreckt und nicht benutzbar.

Kai, de man van de receptie, de boekingen, de uitstappen, het opnemen van eten en drinken, ... was zo bereidwillig!!!

De douche had misschien iets beter gekund.

La chambre pour quatre était de taille correcte, la literie plutôt confortable. La chambre propose une très belle vue sur la baie en contrebas. La piscine est belle. L’accueil était chaleureux. Bon petit déjeuner.

Dans la salle de bain, les toilettes étant après la douche, le sol est souvent mouillé pour y accéder. Une fenêtre en hauteur est sans rideau, le soleil entre tôt le matin. L’hôtel propose des scooters à la location : nous en avons eu deux de puissances différentes, impossible de se suivre sur les routes vallonées de l’île. Les réservoirs étaient quasiment vides et l’un des deux faisait de gros bruits très inquiétants à chaque accélération. L’hôtel propose un taxi pour rejoindre CatBa à un prix trop cher compte tenu de la distance à effectuer.

The outside area is very pretty at night and quite private. We really enjoyed the large pool in the evening. The room was spacious and the air conditioning was excellent.

The bathroom was not very clean, there was an unpleasant smell for the duration of our stay and the shower head was completely broken when we arrived. I made this aware to staff on our second night but I was not offered any sort of apology or discount on the price to accommodate for the bathroom which was a shame.

Great place to stay. True remote homestay feels away from the main Cat Ba town. Nice pool and lovely hosts and staff. Easy to hire scooters and walking distance to restaurants and the beach.

La propietaria nos ayudó constantemente vía whassap, reservándonos todos los transportes, excursiones y motos que necesitamos para llegar y salir. Eso nos dio mucha tranquilidad. El tour por la bahía fue excelente. La piscina genial, la habitación limpia y cómoda. El precio.

Por ese precio no se puede pedir más, había detalles a mejorar, pero estamos agradecidos por la dedicación y servicios.

Énormément de moustiques. Le logement est éloigné du centre donc à part louer un scooter vous êtes obligé de manger au restaurant du logement, il n’y a pas beaucoup de choix et ça reste cher pour ce que c’est.

Die Lage ist super, ein bisschen außerhalb der Stadt in einem kleinen Dörfchen gelegen. Sehr ruhig mitten in der Natur und nicht weit zum Strand. Es gibt einen Pool. Das Personal ist super freundlich und sehr hilfsbereit.

La posizione era carina, lontana dal caos di cat ba town. Bello avere una piscina specialmente in questa stagione così calda (che tuttavia potrebbe sforzarsi di essere un pelo più pulita). Buoni i prezzi calmierati del noleggio scooter.

Avrei dato la sufficienza a questa struttura se non fosse che nel nostro alloggio vi era un’infestazione di blatte. Credo a causa della scarsa qualità dell edilizia vi erano fessure tra le pareti dalle quali uscivano blatte frequentemente. Non abbiamo ricevuto uno sconto per questo. La pulizia era piuttosto scarsa, e le lenzuola avevano delle macchie. I piatti serviti al ristorante non erano granché, ma positivo il fatto che il servizio fosse garantito tutta la giornata. Un peccato perche questa struttura ha un grande potenziale se solo si prestasse maggior cura ad un paio di cose. È sempre un grande dispiacere lasciare recensioni negative, ma dato che questa è la homestay più cara che abbiamo pagato in Vietnam ci aspettavamo davvero molto di più.

My partner and I stayed for 3 nights. We wanted a relaxed stay on the island, and I think this was the absolute best choice just based on the vibe of the whole experience. ​Starting with Judy and the staff—they're all very sweet, always available, and helpful. ​I suggest talking to Judy if you're looking to book activities on the island. She has the best deals and will link you up with the best services. Rest assured you're also contributing to the community and not to major websites like GetYourGuide, etc. ​The breakfast selection is great—got us hooked on those tasty pancakes, and I also enjoyed the banh mi. ​The bungalows are very well built and spacious, which helps a lot when you need a good rest, some silence, or even want to watch a movie. ​The garden and pool offer tranquility at any time of the day. ​You can rent a scooter, take the bus, or Judy can arrange a taxi. She can even organize transport on or off the island to other destinations (we got the best deal on a comfy limousine bus to Ninh Binh).

Podczas pobytu mieliśmy nieprzyjemną sytuację z Panią która zarządzała obiektem. Oddaliśmy ciuchy do prania (8 kg), w obiekcie. Była to usługa którą oferował nocleg. Pranie zostało szybko zrobione co na plus. Niestety wszystkie nasze jasne ciuchy były poplamione czarnymi kropkami. Było to na tyle widoczne że nie nadawały się do noszenia. Poszliśmy zgłosić sprawę na recepcji. Pani powiedziała że spróbujemy to ponownie wyprać, a jeśli nie zejdą to będziemy rozmawiać. Plamy niestety po kolejnym praniu nie zniknęły. Były to ciuchy wartościowe, nie kupiliśmy ich na bazarze w Hanoi a przywieźliśmy je ze soba i były dla nas ważne. W trakcie drugiej rozmowy Pani powiedziała że ona nic z tym nie zrobi i tyle, z naszej perspektywy jej usługa zniszczyla nam ciuchy i chcieliśmy jakiegokolwiek kompromisu. Pani z recepcji bardzo upierała się że nic z tym nie zrobi i ona nie ma pewności że to oni zniszczyli nam ubrania. Nie wyszła z żadnym kompromisem, nie wzięła żadnej odpowiedzialności za zniszczone ciuchy, nie próbowała z nami rozmawiać. Powtarzała tylko że nic z tym nie zrobi, nie znalazła żadnego rozwiązania, nie była w tym pomocna ani nie rozumiała że to dla nas ważne ciuchy za które niemało zapłaciliśmy. Po trzech dniach dyskusji zgodziła się na naszą propozycję obniżenia kosztów noclegu. Najgorsze dla nas było to że była dla nas bardzo niegrzeczna, nie szukała rozwiązania ani nie mówiła dobrze po angielsku.

Away from the busy part of town, but only a 15 minute scoot into main Cat Ba town, Cat Ba Spring is a perfect, no frills base to explore the island. Host Judy is extremely helpful, she provided us with local recommendations and we hired a scooter from her for a very reasonable price. Judy also booked our transport to and from the island and it was extremely smooth, she is very knowledgable and extremely friendly. The rooms are simple, clean and comfortable and the pool area is a great spot to hang out after a day of exploring. I recommend checking out Binh’s Motorcycles Restaurant & Bar - 5 minute walk down the road with great food, drinks, atmosphere and views of the bay.
