Oak Lodge

Lovely breakfast. The host ( Robyn) told us of the local attractions. Garden was lovely. It was in a very quiet place which we enjoyed after days of being on the road for many days.

The place is a little out of town which we did not mind. One has to take the car to go to town.

The cottage was perfect for a relaxing night after 10busy days road tripping would highly recommend it

This is a beautiful property and very well presented. The host is very friendly and easy to communicate with. We stayed in the cottage and it was excellent.

Our host was amazing and made us feel right at home! The property is beautiful and we had access not only to our room but also a well stocked lounge PLUS we had one of the best breakfast's of our trip. The location is very pretty and right in the middle of some many wonderful places to visit .

The host was so helpful as my husband has MS carring our bags. Also we were up graded to a king room comfy bed with a patio view which was lovely. We wish we could have stayed longer than one night. The Lodge and the grounds were immaculately kept. The breakfast was amazing so much food to choose from.

Well equipped and very comfortable, we were made very welcome. We didn't stay very long as we had a tight schedule but would recommend. Very welcoming host.

Oak Lodge was a beautiful house and we were greeted by Robin when we got there. Our room was spacious and warm and spotlessly clean as was everywhere. There were thoughtful kind gestures everywhere. A sitting room with tea, coffee and biscuits provided with a fridge, microwave and plates . Comfortable sofas and a huge television for guests to relax with a balcony and stunning view. The garden was beautiful and breakfast the next morning freshly cooked along with pastries, fruit and yoghurt. I would highly recommend staying here we had a great time. Thank you Robin for being so kind we had a great time

Beautiful property on 20 acres with sheep and chickens and lovely gardens. Very clean and well maintained. Guests are welcome to walk the property. Nice size bedroom with very comfy bed. 2 common areas to sit and have tea/coffee with upstairs common area also having a microwave and refrigerator. Excellent breakfast with fruit, yogurt, juices, muffins, toast, coffee, tea etc along with a delicious hot breakfast of egg, toast, tomatoes, mushrooms, sausage and bacon. Owner is readily available and very helpful.

A fabulous old style country retreat. The owner is on hand to answer any request and is the perfect host. A hearty breakfast is included in the price.

The grounds and garden are stunning. The host/owner (Robin) is welcoming and helpful, and full of insight. The breakfast is plentiful and delicious, and some of the best coffee we have had on our trip.

We found the check-in time a little restrictive as our itinerary is jam-packed, and we had to cut our plans to meet the early deadline (most other places have allowed us to arrive later in the evening). The beds are not as high quality as we typically like... But the pillows were great, and we both slept well. There is no air conditioning, and it was a warm night, so we left the windows open... Which attracted numerous moths. (I still scratch my head at NZ lack of screens!)

Beautiful space indoor and out. There are wonderful paths outside and lovely decor inside. Our breakfast was phenomenal and our host most informative and pleasant.

The bathroom was separate from our room, but it’s really not a complaint. It was directly across the hall. Just an FYI for guests.

The breakfast I had was one of the most delicious I have ever had. The host was so helpful and friendly,a genuinely nice person. definitely recommend staying here ,everything was immaculate. Made to feel welcome, bringing wife back here next year. can’t recommend it enough.

Luxury characterful B&B with friendly and helpful host (Robin). Quiet location despite being just off the main road and only a few minutes drive from Greymouth. Comfortable room with nice views. Great shared lounge. Wonderful cooked breakfast.

It was beautiful

Quiet self catering accommodation with a well appointed kitchen. Very comfortable bed! Lovely friendly dog!. Easy access to a loc walk to a beautiful waterfall.

The internet was a bit slow. Bathroom window needs a blind as the en-suite floods the bedroom with light if someone goes to the bathroom m.

Cottage was spacious and had all the amenities needed. Lodge had multiple communal areas as well as outdoor facilities. Just a short 5 min drive from Greymouth.

Robin was a wonderful host, very accommodating and friendly. The rooms were comfortable and clean, very homely. Breakfast was fresh and delicious. Definitely recommend Oak Lodge.

A really comfortable B & B and excellent host. The rooms were spacious, and the bathroom was very good. The breakfast was fantastic. The communal lounge area was well-stocked with reading material, a fridge and a microwave and overlooked a lovely garden. It was only a short drive into Greymouth and was a good base from which to explore the area. Highly recommended.

We needed a few more conveniently located power points for all the things we have to charge nowadays when travelling.

What was there to dislike

We stayed in the attached unit ( not in the lodge) which was comfortable and had everything we needed. The property was on the outskirts to Greymouth but not far away. Our host was helpful in his recommendations of things to do.

Maybe the entrance from the road is a little dangerous in heavy traffic coming from Greymouth

Located just outside of town,we were greeted warmly and kindly. We had the cottage and wished we could’ve stayed longer than one night . We felt it was very reasonably priced for the quality of the place.

We loved everything about our stay. Best of our NZ trip over 2 weeks.

Off the main road, immaculately maintained inside and out with many interesting features and art pieces on display. The host Robin is a charming man with a wealth of knowledge about the property or area that he is willing to share. Breakfast was a wonderful experience which set us up for the day with an array of continental and cooked options.

There is no way to fault this property or the delightful manager Robin who was the most charming host.

The Innkeeper was friendly and accommodating and served an exceptional breakfast. The Oak Room was large, well appointed and comfortable. The house is surrounded by beautiful gardens. Great location close to Greymouth and only a short drive to Punakaiki (Pancake Rocks).

We loved our stay at The Oak Lodge. Great location to pop into town ( we had a car) and to admire the countryside and count the sheep 🙂. Robin is an excellent host and provided a 5-star full-on breakfast every morning ( my favorite part— the sautéed mushrooms). Appreciated the upgrade and the lounge with the nice view upstairs.

Quiet, warm and comfortable

A great self contained cottage with easy parking. Excellent accommodation. We were well looked after throughout.

Great host, great breakfast, lovely dog, comfortable room, quite area just outside Greymouth but only a few minutes drive to the town centre.

The cabin was very well equipped and furnished , the bed was very comfortable. And the ensuite was a good side and large shower. The outlook was lovely watching the new lambs jump around. It was only a short drive back into town so very convenient.

The little separate cabin was excellent - full of facilities and included a washing machine and King size bed ... a little bit out of town but that was one of the attractive qualities. We would thoroughly recommend staying there.

Oak Lodge was a large family home that was made into a B and B in the 1920’s . The grounds were beautiful and bird filled with a lovely garden that surrounds the house. The delicious hot breakfast that the host Robin made for us was worth the stay alone. We had a lounge area on the top floor that was nice and cozy with tea, coffee and biscuits! Oak Lodge was a short drive into Greymouth. I would stay there again if ever I would be blessed to visit New Zealand again.

Great stop on our drive through South Island! Robin is an outstanding host, wanted nothing more than to make sure our trip was fantastic in NZ, gave us priceless recommendations. We drove a bit willy nilly on our trip, finding places to stay as we went. He spent time chatting with us and we followed his advice on the next 2 nights that led us to amazing stops at FableTerraceDowns and the Hermitage- thanks for your hospitality and concern for our trip experience! Robin has a splendid, peaceful house where we stayed and enjoyed his company, advice and personal cooking for breakfast. I hope we meet again! Cheers, Andy & Patty

Loved the homely atmosphere and superb guest kitchen and sittingroom with its balcony overlooking the garden. Robin was a perfect host and a great cook. The breakfasts he produces are incredible! Beautiful garden.

Our host Robin was exceptionally attentive and was very well informed.I I would highlight the beautifully maintained garden.the house is surrounded by a charming garden with a myriad of small well maintained paths creating s a very lovely ambience for the house.

A very cosy and comfortable unit surrounded by pretty countryside. An attractive garden, tennis court and friendly host all add to the charm.

Robin the host goes out of his way to make guests feel welcome and looked after. Breakfast was included and enjoyable.

Sadly the bed and pillows were very uncomfortable and I didn't sleep well.

Super well equipped self contained unit, quiet and peaceful. Loved the option to have breakfast from the B&B if you so wished.
