The location of the place is supper 👌. The cleanliness of the entire place. The friendliness of the staff. The communication whenever I enquire about something was good. I loved the game drive, and Moses, our guide, was very good.Oh, the sunset is breathtaking😊. I wish I had a full day just sitting by the balcony listening to the bird waiting for the sun to set♥️.
Nothing.
The welcoming at the reception, the meals were out of this world. The waiter and his chef were so welcoming and the hospitality was outstanding. Facilities bring a person very close to nature.
I was not warned that the road to the facility is not sedan friendly.
We loved visiting the Lion Foundation where the camp looks after abused lions these animals are florius and its lovely to know that there are people offering themselves to this cause. We were also amazed to find donkeys that have been saved and looked after these creatures have their own characters and are well looked after. We went on the game drive and we say giraffe and Impala and golden wildebeest.. the whole week was restful and we cant wait to come back
Everything was good we had no complaints
Road is terrible.
Everything, staff, food
Nothing
The breakfast was lovely and dinners were exellent. The staff went out of their way to make our stay pleasant and comfortable.
We would have preferred an enclosed bathroom and indoor shower as it is winter.
Clean
Fijne medewerkers, speciaal dank aan Patrick, Nolleen, Gift en Mozes. Tevens speciale dank aan de koks, die uitstekend kunnen koken. Excursies waren leuk. Kamer was goed, wel erg koud.
I loved everything about the place. This is real value for money and I am definitely coming back with my family. I just wish they would cater for the little ones perhaps a play area and pool for them. The stuff is out of this world never experienced such in my life. We really met a new family. Home away from home it was. My mom's 70th birthday was celebrated in style
Nothing
The wood design around the place looks perfect The staff members so friendly and welcoming and the food exceptional
Nothing
Everything was exceptional, I cannot fault anything.
Breakfast was always delicious!!
The staff is really friendly, made our stay very comfortable. They are very attentive to their guests, constantly checking in on how they can make our stay better. Chef Solly was the best, on our way to the venue we called to alert them we are coming in late and he gave us tips on the road since it is gravel road. Made sure food is reserved for us and each day checked in on how we like our food.
Our room was too big so the aircon was not making our room warm. It was a chilly weekend and would have loved to come back to a warm room. Unfortunately we did not notice that our room does not have a tv.
Great experience , staff were great and more than accomodating. watching the lions feed was awesome
the braai area was not clean and grill damaged
The staff were exceptionally kind, especially Patrick & Moses.
I wish I had known that I had to use a bakkie, my poor car, you can’t even attempt that road with a small call. There were always hiccups with whatever we booked, we booked the hot tub & then the geyser wasn’t working so it was cancelled. We booked massages & it was canceled without our knowledge due to whatever reason. We were only told when we got to reception, ready to go for our appointment
Breakfast was brilliant, food prepared well and staff helpful with any demands
No chairs on the deck and the sauna not working
The facility location is nearby with everything as promised.
Nothing
Mostly everything
The environment and facilities were great. The your guides are knowledgeable regarding the environment and the animals around the game reserve.
The bed in room Lion made squicky sounds and needs to be attended to.
Reasonably priced game farm for a mid-week break in the bush out of Pretoria. Great views, comfortable rooms, excellent food and spa facilities
the chef was exceptional
the cat moving around during dinning
Staff were friendly and tirelessly worked to ensure we were warm and comfortable. The furniture and lodge setting were beautiful, just what you would expect at a game lodge.
-Our bed seemed a bit used and in need of replacement. -The air-conditioning unit hung above our balcony door and dripped water over the balcony. Thus made it difficult to step onto the balcony and unable to take in the views from the balcony. -Lastly on our last morning my wife found a white/beige hair in her food. We believe this came from the cat that is allowed to lounge around the lodge areas. Having a cat sit on the dining tables, chairs, counters and other areas where food is served and prepared presents a healthy risk. Gladly we did not fall ill from the food we ate.
Quite, food and as good, lion feeding was awesome.
Not much activities.
The location and the breakfast met the expectation
The surrounding location is great but there is no view point
It was delicious, staff excellent and the tour guide i rate him one of the best i have met he knows his job and indeed it was his career calling i rate him 10/10
Not really so far i never expirienced any issues since it was a short stay maybe if ive stayed little bit longer but overall everything was excellent for that day and i dint think i will expirience any issues when visiting again
Our stay was perfect for celebrating our 22nd wedding anniversary. Thank you to the staff for making it one our most memorable getaways! The view was breath taking from our room balcony, and were very clean and well kept. The morning game drive was the perfect start to our day and the massage the perfect end to it. We opted for breakfast and dinner and were not disappointed at all. A definite revisit for us. Special shout out to Patrick, Plakkie, Pretty and Moses for making our stay one of the best!!!
Now that it's winter, the room could use a little more lighting, and we suggest that the massage room should be warmed before hand.
Everything!
The food, ambiance, game drive activity and accommodation
The trips were good. Leroy quite a character as is Gift.
Too many steps everywhere. I should have ascertained that before booking. Influences my overall take on the visit
Great stay! The game drive included with a 2-night booking was a lovely surprise. Super peaceful and remote, exactly the kind of escape you need. Love the main building with the fireplace at night and entertainment options, and the heated pool is a nice touch too. The check-out time is also later than most places, which is a great bonus!
The road to get there is gravel, which can be a bit rough. The room furniture feels a bit outdated, and the cleanliness could do with some improvement.
Podia ser melhor. Pouca variedade
Food was exceptional, staff was very accommodating and very friendly, on arrival the toilet was leaking and aircon not working, they immediately sent housekeeping and it was fixed in no time. Unfortunately with the thatch roof there were animal droppings on the floor and on the bed. The lighting was poor, couldn't read in the bed. I would have appreciated a small hand soap at the washing basin, just for washing hands, there was only a shower gel in the shower and we had to constantly move it from one place to the other.
Poor lighting in the room
FOOD WAS GOOD, SERVICE WAS GOOD
REQUESTED CLEANING OF OUTDOOR SHOWER 3 X LOOSE FITTINGS IN BATHROOM, DRAINS BLOCKED MANAGEMENT STAFF NEEDS ATTENTION
The surrounding and cleanliness of the facility. Staff members are friendly.
Road is not for small cars
We love Schrikkloof and came back as we appreciate the staff who cares about the clients particularly, Patrick, Moses, the Chef and waiters who alsways make us feel in our extended family. We highly appreciate the game drive in the quiet landscape of the valley surrounded by hills and mountains and the knowledge of the game ranger. We love waking-up to the sounds of the lions roaring and having our tastebuds awakened to delicious meals.
El desayuno y la cena geniales. Los chicos muy atentos, el guia Moises, Dolly muy majos.
Hot shower water
The room seemed to not be cleaned for some time. Dusty, fridge was musty the food also not fresh. Seems they don't get guests more often, we were the only guests there. Also, if you are using a small car please don't attempt to drive there, the 25+km road to the main gate is gravel and from main gate to the reception 5km is 😞😞😞
It was beautiful and the most friendliest staff
Wonderful lodge, relaxing environment, perfect to switch off and escape the city life. Friendly staff who are very welcoming, animals roaming around near the rooms 😊 It's a beautiful location and we loved the peacefulness.
There is around 12km of gravel road. We were aware before booking, but just sharing again for awareness. I guess this is all part of the "bush" experience 😊
Everything was perfect, The staff were exceptionally helpful, I wish we vould have stayed longer
The setting is beautiful - wonderful views from the main building, spa, heated pool and our room. Our unit was very comfortable - we enjoyed sitting on the deck, the bed was very comfortable and we loved the outdoor shower. All our meals were fantastic! We enjoyed the early morning game drive with our excellent guide Moses as well as the quad-biking excursion with Gift in the afternoon. The fireplace that was lit in the cool rainy weather created a special atmosphere for our dinner. We left feeling rejuvenated and relaxed and hope to return soon.
I would have appreciated bottled water in the bar fridge in our room.
Amazing friendly staff. Our room was so comfortable and big. Never ever had such a big and nice shower. We had such a good stay.
Danke an die ganze Belegschaft! Patrick, Gift , Moses and all the ladies.
It is very quite and i liked that the rooms are cleaned daily. The food was amazing for the most part. It is definitely value for money. Their pool is the best, the water temperature is perfect.
The jacuzzi was not as warm as expected.
The game drive
The road is terrible and the food for dinner was ok not great 😕.
View , room, stuff
Location a bit difficult to find
Son emplacement, sa restauration, sa piscine chauffée, la possibilité de ballades S Le Game drive et surtout le lion feeding qui est une superbe action
Tout était parfait
Staff and location
Entry to road, rooms a little dated outside patio bit messy because of nesting weaver birds
Very friendly stuff, very welcoming
Road is gravel
The professionalism of the staff to start with. I loved and enjoyed the heated pool and the views are amazing.
Getting stuck by the gate when it could have been avoided.
The staff is very friendly and caring. The food is 10/10.
The gravel road.
Perfectly situated
I think it need some renovation… some structures look a bit pelapidated.
Our tour guides Moses and John were great and the experience of seeing what the Foundation does up close was fantastic. We were highly impressed. Staff were warm and friendly apart from the Breakfast Manager.
1. The presentation of breakfast was the most disappointing aspect. The breakfast manager was abrasive and borderline rude. On the first day she held a clipboard and asked do you want sausage, bacon. I asked what are the options she was visibly irritated and said she would bring the chef who was very nice throughout our stay and we could order through him what we wished for. We have some dietary issues so needed to know what was possible. The next morning when I came to breakfast I told the female manager, I will make it easy this morning and order exactly what we had the day before which was... before I could finish she interrupted and said she would tell me the options. The "options was "an omelet with various fillings. I responded that that was not good for us. Again, she said she would have to get the chef who was very helpful and we could get, at least for my daughter who has special needs, some scrambled eggs and I stuck with the omelet not wanting to appear to be difficult. .Why can't you have a menu for breakfast and be flexible and importantly at least polite. 2. The towels are very threadbare and could do with updating. Towels at the pool after use whould be changed I noted ours were just rolled up again on the same couches after use.
The staff was friendly and the food was delicious 😋 the spar was incredible 😋 👌 I would go back again
Game driving, feeding of Lions, body massage
The location is great for a peaceful escape, the food was delicious and the hospitality from the staff is exceptional
Driving trail
The Environment is Tranquil and Exceptional. The Owners and Staff serve with a Smile.
Nothing, except we felt our stay was very short ( 2nights). We shall return for a longer stay, soon
Lovely location and great views from the room. Food was very good and staff friendly and helpful. Rooms were lovely, they were cleaned, and the coffee and minibar was restocked every morning while at breakfast.
You could hear quite a bit externally from your room. (People talking outside or from within the reception/dining area) This wasn't really a problem for us but people who want a lie in, might find it a little frustrating
The lion feeding experience.
We loved the game drive, the tour guide was very knowledgeable. Great experience
Beautiful lodge in a lovely location. Our highlights were the private Quad Tour (getting close to giraffes and some other animals) and the lion feeding tour with the lion foundation (very interesting). The guides were friendly and told us a lot. Most of the staff are helpful and friendly. Very spacious rooms with beautiful views. Lovely pool, good food.
At the main gate there is a note that you should call to be let in. We did not have a sim card with calls, so we struggled about 15/20 minutes to even get in. There is a code to open the gate. Would have benn helpful to get this code in advance. The check in was chaotic. We did not get many information about the lodge or the activities. Prior communication was difficult as well. Either I did not receice a reply at all or days later. For the price, I feel like the service should increase The fridge in the room smelled very bad.
Ideal for resting and relaxing away from home
Glass window at the roof that allows light to come through as early as 05:00
The breakfast was good but we had the same for the 5 days we stayed there. Some days we couldn't eat because it is the same every morning. It got boring. The dinner was delicious and different every day.
Variety. Some muffins pancakes oats cheese
The food was out of this world. It was the most relaxing weekend we had.
Everything was perfect!
Meals were excellent and a beautiful location
The gravel road access to the lodge is in a very poor condition, only high clearance vehicles should be used
The road driving there , needs a higher car
Activities that makes fun for special days _ Like on a cross over night , maybe a a little snack and wine gathering
Our stay at Schrikkloof was so amazing. The lodge itself is beautiful with so much to do from board games, spas, game drives, lion feeding, sparkling pool, and good food . Really enjoyed the lion feeding. The lions are well cared for and really have enough space. They are really doing such an amazing job of rescuing them and bringing them back to good health. The game drive was amazing, and our guide was very knowledgeable. The rooms were big spacious and beautiful. I loved the sound of the lions, donkeys, and other wild life during the night. Our stay was nothing but memorable. Thank you, Schrikkloof, for an amazing weekend
The roads to the lodge were really a challenge as we had a low-rise car. So we really struggled a bit but took it easy all the way but out stay made up for it. .
The food and the staff were superb. I would love to go back again!
The dirt road getting there was a bit bad for my car. But if you have a bigger vehicle it would be no problem
Game drive
Rooms dirty..food was just okay..breakfast was poor..utensils dirty..staff are unorganized..will neva return to schrikkloof and the sand road is 18km very bad...NOT VALUE FOR MONEY
The breakfast was delicious!!! You know you have arrived at a very special place when as you get out your car you are handed a wonderfully cool drink. This is a very special place where you will experience serenity, peace, service beyond excellence.
I Could not find one downfall.
