I think the property was misrepresented. It was given a 9.5 rating. I would give it a 4/10. The facilities were basic. There was a large church 500 meters from the property which started announcements and prayers at 5 am in the morning and this continued till 7 am. It was extremely loud and impossible to sleep through. I arrived at 8.30 pm the night before and by 10 am I had checked out as I was not able to stay there any longer. The information said that there was fitness provision on site, but this was not the case. I had to access it at an additional charge about a 1/4 of a kilometer from the property. The information stated about the local beach. I visited it. It was a fisherman's beach and not really suitable for tourists. The water was very choppy and not suitable for swimmers. There was no facility for any other water related activities. Even people in swimsuits would have been frowned upon as the locals were very conservative. The breakfast was basic and my appams were served with a chick pea curry which is not traditional. Normally one would get a vegetarian or meat stew or an egg curry. I was extremely dissatisfied. I asked the owner if he would consider returning a portion of my money as I had booked for 6 days. He gave me some excuse about not getting money from booking .com for a whole month and therefore he was unable to return anything. I would not recommend this property to anybody based on the description in Booking. com. I hold Booking .com partially responsible for allowing this description to stay on their site.

We had a wonderful stay at Mary Land Homestay in Thiruvananthapuram. Edwin and Ashlin are exceptional hosts who welcomed us warmly into their property. The highlight was definitely the homemade breakfast—it was absolutely heavenly! The rooms were spotless and comfortable, and the beach is just a convenient 5 to 10-minute walk away.

The property is right next to a church that plays music over loudspeakers starting at 5 AM, so adding soundproofing would be a huge help for light sleepers. Additionally, guest safety could be improved on the second floor: there is a small step near the kitchen/bathroom area that isn't easily visible—everyone in our family tripped over it. Marking this threshold with contrasting color tape or a indicator light would prevent future trips.

Very neatly maintained. The washrooms were neat and it just felt like home, warm and comfortable to stay during our visit. Worth the price and the owners of the property were very kind people. It's a home away from home.

Breakfast was hot and tasty. Location was close to lots of attractions which is why I chose the place. The host was really great and flexible to accommodate us. Having laundry facilities was a huge plus.

The house was next to a church that blasted songs at 5 AM. Having some sound proofing would have helped. Consider putting instructions for laundry next to the washer.

This was a great find. The host family were so friendly, helpful and accommodating. Spacious room, unit was very clean, wifi great. We enjoyed the location to explore and walk within the neighborhood. Excellent fresh and delightful breakfast. Certainly hope to return.

Edwin was very friendly. He helped end to end without a single scruple. It was an absolute pleasure staying at his property. People going with friends / colleagues should certainly opt for this stay.

Location very close to Trivandrum Intl Airport and Shangamugam beach. Spacious and very clean rooms, host was excellent and good for family. The lulu mall, Temple, mosque and famous churches and tourist places are close - less then 10kms

Měli jsme pro sebe celou vilku. V přízemí byl obývák, v dalších dvou poschodích byly pokoje s dokonce kuchyň. Celé ubytování bylo čisté, k dispozici byly ručníky, toaletní papír, hygienické potřeby, voda. V celém prostoru bylo velké teplo, ale v pokojích byla klimatizace. Personál byl milý a vstřícný. Potřebovali jsme odcházet ve 4 hodin ráno. Ubytování bylo za bránou, bylo k dispozici posezení venku. Okolí ubytování bylo skvělé, pěšky pouze 30 minut na domestic letiště. Vše bylo čisté a hezké.

The whole place was beautifully designed from the lighting to bathrooms it’s family run the couldn’t be more helpful organising travel and trip ideas They are a home stay in the main town near the airport and all modern needs the breakfast was included but we opted for full board which was real home cooking South Indian style amazing ,they didn’t have a bar but really they were happy to get in drinks for you Edwin and Ashlee our hosts and their son Jarik and we must mention thier assistant fabulous Greta They Run everything in a warm loving way without you feeling in anyway overwhelmed by their presence a rare mix

Very close to the airport, our hosts arranged a taxi for us from the airport which made everything so easy. Our room was very clean and comfortable and breakfast was delicious.

We stayed in Edwin Villa next to Maryland. I have never had so much space in any place I have stayed. The rooms were huge, the beds were the most comfortable I have experienced anywhere in India and there were large undercover outside areas which was important in the hot weather. Our hosts, Edwin and Ashlin, were very helpful arranging transport, meals and support when my luggage didn't arrive on my flight. They also offered lots of advice about things to do in and around Trivandrum.

My only concern is I'll always be wishing I was at Edwin Villa when I am staying in other places in India.

The host and family where my first stay in India and i was really taken care off well. Open minder people i feel like and they offered more then the price could ever express! Would definitely stay again. Thanks so much to all of you !

Die Küche befindet sich auf der 3. Etage, ich würde diese nach unten verlegen. Uns hat ein Wasserkocher gefehlt.

Wunderschöne Villa mit eigenem kleinen Privatpool und viel Platz. Es war alles sehr gepflegt und sauber. Die Inhaber Ashlin und Edwin waren sehr nett und zuvorkommend. Sie haben uns schöne Plätze und Restaurants gezeigt und die Fahrten mit Tuk Tuk organisiert. Außerdem haben Sie mir einen Termin in einem guten Krankenhaus organisiert. Auch mit dem Frühstück wurden wir verwöhnt. Ashlin machte richtige leckere Overnight Oats mit Obst und Nüssen für mich. Ein weiterer Pluspunkt waren die Palmen hinter dem Haus, wo wir vom Pool aus in der Dämmerung Palmenzibetkatzen beobachten konnten. Wir hatten einen schönen Aufenthalt und haben uns sehr wohlgefühlt!

Einziger Minuspunkt ist die Kirche in der Nachbarschaft, die bereits morgens um 5.00 Uhr sehr laute Gottesdienste über Lautsprecher überträgt.

I was at home! Clean , very comfortable, relaxing , such friendly and kind hosts.all of them! Aswel as the town people and dogs. all so kind. I absolutely loved the food!!divine! The perfect detail in the presentation , quality and cooking. I enjoyed it so much and felt so good to eat it in the lovely outdoor setting. I truely felt cared for and rested.I loved my time at maryland . I just explored by foot for just two days. Id imagine there is so much more to see and do. But for a taste , to chill, as and a landing spot. Especially just on my own, it was truly perfect. I hope to come back and see Ashlin, Edwin and little Jerry (Jeric) again. 10/10 absolutely recommend . Beautiful people and homestay THANKYOU!🙏

Great hospitality and clean rooms

Le petit déjeuner était fraichement préparé, très délicieux et chaque matin différent! L'emplacement est génial, près de la mer dans un quartier calme avec de la nature. Facilement, on peut aller au centre-ville.

Rooms are big and clean. Very comfortable. Private pool is a plus. Hosts are very friendly. Perfect for families with kids. Would definately recommend.

Even helped organise travel to other parts of Kerala at reasonable rates. Provided excellent travel advice and tips. Food was excellent - provided local Kerala meals with some notice to prepare.

Die Besitzer sind super nett und kümmern sich wirklich um alles! Wir waren nur sehr kurz dort aber es hat alles prima geklappt. Flughafentransfer auch mitten in der Nacht.

Es waren gerade Wahlen , daher war es etwas lauter. Das ist allerdings auch win Erlebnis

Edwin & Ashlee could not have been more kind & helpful. They coped with changes to our arrival time, organised taxis and gave travel advice.

Чистый и уютный дом, дружелюбные хозяева. Большие удобные кровати,вентиляторы,кондиционер,горячая вода. Есть зона отдыха на свежем воздухе,там очень приятно покушать. Отдельное спасибо за приготовленную еду,завтраки были вкусные,так же мы попросили приготовить нам ужин и он тоже был очень вкусный. Советую этот вариант проживания.

Есть нюанс,рядом расположена церковь и в 5/5-30 утра там включают молитву громко.

The property is convenient to both the airport and the beach. Kerala calls itself God's Own Country and all the religions get on well. The property is very Kerala. If you are looking for a party, do not come. But if good people and rest is want you want Kerala is the place

I thought there was a hottub but the spa was a small bath.

The owners were kind and helpful. They were also knowledgeable and flexible. The room was exceptional clean and comfortable. Makes a mean cuppa of masala tea.

The church service across the road was very loud and woke me up at 5am. It was not a pleasant start to the day. Least I wasn't late.

The hosts are really nice people. We had a seamless stay. The airport is very near to the homestay.

The homestay is conveniently close to the beach, just a short walk away. The host was exceptionally friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was tailored to my requests, and they even prepared special drinks for my child, which were much appreciated. We had a fantastic stay at Mary Land Homestay, thanks to Edwin and his warm hospitality. Communication before our arrival was excellent—he arranged our airport pickup and was incredibly gracious when our flight was delayed, welcoming us even when it was late at night/early the next morning. Our room was spacious and well-equipped, with comfy beds, air conditioning, fresh towels, and everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The highlight was the delicious breakfast prepared by Edwin’s wife—homemade and full of local flavours. Edwin and his wife are a genuinely kind and welcoming couple, always ready with helpful advice for the next leg of our journey. Their warmth and generosity made our time in Kerala even more special. I highly recommend staying here!

Very nice villa, mr Edwin and family are very kind, and if you have a problem they resolve it. Room is large and very convenient. Breakfast is very good. Very recommendable.

The studio was clean spacious and options for seating. Lighting options were in abundance so options to have your room as you prefer. The aircon worked great and the fans too. There is a lovely courtyard with plants inc waterlilly/lotus plants around the coffee tables and chairs. Access to wash and dry clothes and table for 6 upstairs if preferred to eat inside. The novel decor made us smile and the beds were very comfy! The real stand out was how well we were cared for as there was nothing too much trouble and even late at night when we felt ill (not from the stay) they prepared some lemon tea and water. They offered and spoke to onward hotels planned a great itinerary with a driver for us and even made a great suggestion for us to use the train as best value and even supported by the driver of tuck-tuck to help us buy tickets. The breakfasts were absolutely delicious and when we did our washing they even kindly brought this to us afterwards which was so very kind. Honestly cannot have had a better stay as we were put at ease and didn’t have to worry about anything…we didn’t want to leave! thank you

Owner is so nice. If you ask something, I swear he will help you as much as he can. We used washing machine so well with iron. There enogh space to hang washed clothes.

It's not "Entire house". Only 'delux villa' is entire house, but other option is 'only bedroom'. you can use other facility not privately, but shared. Owner said no worry for safety, but I think it's not correction expression. The bedroom looks clean, but so much freshner scent with moldy ordor.. Many guest said about noises church. You can hear church sound at 5am for 1 and half hour. sometimes at night also.

Great one night stop. Close to airport, beach and a nice seafood restaurant. Very friendly host and comfortable room.

We had the whole of one villa. It had two floors. There was a nice sitting room area next to a dining table. We had a rooftop lounging area too. Edwin and Ashley (including son Jerrick and dad Kanaka Raj) were warm, welcoming, and friendly guests. They were very helpful and did lots for us. The breakfast was tasty. The air-conditioning in the bedrooms was effective.

Some reviews have mentioned the noise from the nearby church. Experiencing noise is common in India. There are a couple of options: (1) wear earplugs and (2) wake with the morning bells! Waking early means that you can do some sightseeing before it gets too hot. Then from 12-4 (when it's hottest), you could have lunch and rest before resuming when it cools down.

This is not a "whole villa". It is just a single room with access to a shared pool. Location is nothing special, although there are plenty of Tuk-Tuks to get you places.

The place was very clean and neatly maintained. The host was very friendly and of course, the complimentary breakfast was also very good.

We had a whole house for us. Nice furniture, very clean. Hosts were incredible, very friendly, they helped us with our travel arrangements and gave us the opportunity for a late check out. Delicious Kerala breakfast was the cherry on the cake!

The localisation is great. Close to the City Center but still out of the hectic City Center. The pool was great for the kids. And the hosts where super helpfull.

We had a two room apartment that was very clean and had a very fun vibe - almost like a bachelor pad. Each room had its own key and opened into a common space that was open to outside and included the small pool and patio area. Our time here was limited, but we really wish we could’ve stayed longer to enjoy this fun space with our group! The owner was very friendly and helpful. We do not know about the neighborhood as we had no chance to walk around.

We got there late in the evening after one of those really bad travel days. The homestay is far away from restaurants, but hosts Edward and Ashley were so lovely and ordered us some food for home delivery as we were starving. The room is so clean, the seating area in the garden cozy and the 3 days we stayed we got served different Kereala breakfast every morning which was lovely! Download Uber app like this you can order a Tuk Tuk. Or Edward and Ashley will help you out as they know the area and can get a Tuk Tuk for you. The hosts helped us out in many ways the days we stayed. I highly recommend this place and would love to come again.

The family who owns this really sweet little place are kind, compassionate at what they are closing and go above and beyond to make everyone really nice. We were delayed I leaving by out taxi and Ashley made us delicious lemon, mint and ginger drinks. So refreshing and kind! The room was very comfortable, but we did hear prayers over a loud speaker at about 6:00 am. We were awake as we had come in on an all night flight. Other than that it was truly a wonderful stay. I especially loved her breakfast dosas and chai tea. We also loved that it was so close to the airport (TRV) and not far from shopping. We will most likely stay here again when we pass through.
