Chalet Protea

This apartment was clean and lovely for our week long stay. Wengen is a terrific location to explore the heart of the Berner Oberland and I highly recommend it and this unit. We had no issues other than the usual "How does this work?" for things like the shower, diswasher and stovetop that we encountered at every stop of our trip. Access to a washing machine and drying rack at the apartment was a real bonus, and the outdoor sitting area was delightful. The town's Coop grocery store and bakery were excellent resources - just know they both close at 6:30pm.

We forgot about the tax you have to pay in cash on departure and had to scramble to make the payment the night before we left. Yes it was in all the paperwork, but a reminder, even when we checked in, would have been helpful and saved us embarrassment and confusion. On arrival it is a paved downhill walk from the station, fairly easy with luggage. When we checked out we used a taxi and thought the 25 CHF taxi was expensive - but worth the cost rather than the effort it would have taken to get back up the hill with luggage. Tip: you can walk downhill to the Wengwald station to catch the train, which we did several times while heading out sightseeing. The walk is mostly gravel and easy (but would not work well for rolling suitcases).

Nice location with a beautiful view of the mountains and the staubbach falls in the Lauterbrunnen valley. Walkable distance to the Wengen train station. The host was very friendly and helpful. The host lives above the unit but do not bother you. The unit has one bedroom with a large bed and a sofa bed in the sitting room. It has a nice kitchen with all necessities. Coffee pods are provided for a small fee. It has laundry suite in the common area. Everything for washing is provided for a fee of 5 chf per load. We bought our groceries at the Co-op grocery store near the train station and managed to do some basic cooking. BBQ grill comes with the unit. We spent the evenings bbqing and had dinner on the terrace watching the mountains. Overall we enjoyed the stay. Would definitely go back.

昨年に続いて7泊しましたが、毎日良い天気で借りている庭からユングフラウ、ブライトホルンが朝日や夕日に輝いてきれいでした。夜は満天の星で良かったです。ハイキングのアクセスも良いです。オーナーも笑顔で迎えてくれました。

Incredible location, spacious comfortable top class accomodation. Wonderful responsive hosts . Wengen is a magical place and sitting out on the sun lounges across to the Mountains and waterfalls Was simply amazing

The chalet is located overlooking the stunning Lauterbrunnen valley with the waterfalls visible from the privtae garden. It is equipped with everything that you would need for a longer stay. The hosts are lovely and very kind. We had the best vacation here.

Die Gastgeber waren sehr nett und zuvorkommend. Zudem hat uns die ruhige Lage der Wohnung sehr gefallen, besonders auch das gemütliche Wohnzimmer und die toll ausgestattete Küche. Wir haben uns rundum wohlgefühlt.

Wengen駅から少し離れて非常に気持ち良く8日間過ごしました。メンリッフェンやいろいろはハイキングコースへのアクセスが非常に良かったです。専用のガーデンからユングフロウ、ブライトホーン、シルトホーンが見えて最高😀

駅からのアクセスが坂が多いので大きな荷物の場合は少し大変かも？しかし着いた時には絶景が有るのですぐに忘れますよ！

Chalet Protea is the perfect example of the ideal chalet experience in Switzerland. From the arrival, check-in, property, surrounding area, everything was perfect. The property is the epitome of clean, stylish, and simple Swiss design. The rooms are well-appointed, cozy, simple and elegant. Everything we could possibly need or ask for is provided on-premises and then some. We were provided with a lovely bedroom, bathroom, kitchen/dining room, and living room with all the amenities one could expect from each. This is the type of place I could easily live in exactly as it comes as my primary residence. It is abundantly clear the owners put a lot of care and planning into the property and offerings and carefully considered how a guest might want to utilize it during their stay. We wanted for nothing. We struggled to leave. It was a magical place. The surrounding grounds and town are a place of pure natural beauty and magic. The views from the rooms and back yard are stunning. The town and surrounding area are very quiet and relaxing. If we had more time we'd have happily spent several days just enjoying the grounds and views. Arrival and departure from Wengen was simple and the very small time investment traveling to/from the town is so minimal the benefits of staying at a place like this far outweigh the minor added time cost. Chalet Protea is truly a magical place and I highly recommend it to anyone interested in staying in or near Wengen/Lauterbrunnen area. We have stayed at countless properties across the world spanning over 25+ countries and Chalet Protea is easily one of my all-time favorites.

A very well decorated and clean apartment only 590mt downhill from train station . Yes there is a hill to walk up to station but amazing views and large private garden make up for that. Very friendly hosts and great base.

The scenery around the location and the views on the train ride every day in and out of Wengen from Lauterbrunnen. It added some 15 to 20 minutes total travel time each way but is totally worth it. We have a private section of a much bigger multi-level house. It's bright and clean and well designed with good quality and plenty of storage for clothing. The backyard has a view of the Lauterbrunnen Valley and the peaks around it.

Event though the distance would be considered reasonable, the steep upslope at its elevation to get to the train station every day is tough for most people. Taxi ride to and from the train station will be around 25 euros each way for the short distance. I managed without the taxi as I have to stop to take so many pictures every day on the same route out and back, it helped mentally and physically.

The apartment was clean, spacious, and well equipped. There is a large outside area with grass, a covered porch, and lots of seating, with a great view. The kitchen had everything we needed to eat in a few times during our stay. Ruth was friendly and ensured we were enjoying our stay. It is in a great, quiet location, and we felt right at home.

A plusher bathroom towel would elevate the comfort of the stay. Personally I would have liked a firmer pillow. Do not let these minor things stop you from booking here!

A quiet, private space with a nice yard. The chalet provided an amazing view of the Lauterbrunnen valley. The host was very friendly and accommodating. The location of the chalet was easily accessible to the train despite the moderate incline we walked up each day to the station.

The bed was a bit too firm for my personal preference, but we were so busy during the day that I still slept well.

Better even than the pictures! Extremely clean, spacious for 2, excellent kitchen, AMAZING views, comfortable bed, massive book with all the local recommendations, and paid laundry available if needed. Value for money was 10/10 here!

The only single complaint is the walk back up to the train station is steep. If you are mobility impaired, it might be difficult.

Everything. Well appointed 1-bedroom apartment with full kitchen. Fabulous views from the windows and lots of outdoor lawn furniture. Receptive host. Great value.

The walk from the chalet to the Wengen train station can be challenging with luggage as it's an uphill.

The amazing views of the mountains and nearby waterfalls from Chalet Protea were such a highlight. Our hosts were lovely and welcoming, and the place was perfect for our time in Wengen. It was very easy to feel at home and the chalet was well stocked with cooking utensils, oil/seasonings, etc. to allow for home-cooked meals as well. We were able to complete a load of laundry (with dryer) for 5 euros which was convenient too. We wished we could stay longer and we would love to come back, and would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a memorable stay in the Jungfrau region.

Plenty of room with a decent sized and well equipped kitchen to cook meals, and the views of the surrounding mountains and Lauterbrunnen valley were incredible. Was also very warm and quiet, so easy to relax if cold outside and get a good night's sleep.

The hosts at this property are very friendly and helpful. The apartment is completely spotless, warm and comfortable, with excellent amenities and equipment provided. The views down the valley from the terrace are amazing.

Wengen is on the side of the valley so many properties and hotels involve a walk up hill or down hill into town or back home. The walk from Protea into town is quite steep in places, all uphill and takes 10 to 15 minutes. Coming home is much easier!

Clean, comfortable, quality decor and furnitures. All great. Ruth was super friendly..from booking to seeing us off.

The uphill distance with luggage was challenging. Need a taxi.

The hosts, Ruth and George, are very friendly and helpful. The apartment was quiet and had everything we needed, and was surrounded by wonderful views. It was fine for us, but Wengen is on a slope so moving around requires walking up and down hills! It can be a bit of an ‘adventure’ with suitcases.
