The staff was super nice and helpful and their eco consciousness was apparent and appreciated Great place to discover Abel Tasman, would 100% recommend staying one more night than you are thinking of staying, we wish we could have (we stayed 3 nights)

They gave us very helpful recommendations on where to go. When we arrived, it was nice and warm, which we really appreciated. It exceeded my expectations. The view is absolutely beautiful. Overall, everything was great.

Reviewed Mar 18, 2026We booked a one bedroom chalet for a romantic getaway, and had a great stay at Ocean View Chalets. The chalets are well spaced apart and so very quiet, with beautiful views and surrounded by native bush and birdlife. Sunrise was amazing. The chalet was well appointed with everything we needed, and very clean. The hosts, Chris & Jared, are both very friendly and welcoming. Plenty of places to eat nearby, but the chalet kitchen also has everything you need to cook if you prefer. Would highly recommend and hope to get back for another stay in the future!

Das „Petite Studio“ war in der Tat recht beengt, aber erstaunlich vollständig ausgestattet, wir haben nichts vermisst. Schöne Aussicht. Das Frühstück war auch sehr lecker. Die Gastgeber, Chris und Jared, waren sehr hilfsbereit und nett.
Frühstück gibt es erst ab 7.45 Uhr, was stressig knapp ist, wenn man eine Tour machen, das Frühstück aber trotzdem angemessen würdigen will.

The only reason I didn’t give top score for facilities is the petit rooms are quite tight, and my husband put his suitcase under the bed , but we did book the smallest unit , so can’t complain.

Reviewed Feb 25, 2026Ein wunderschönes Chalet mit Aussicht aufs Meer. Sehr netter Empfang durch Chris, sie hat uns auch die Bootsfahrt organisiert. Es war alles vorhanden, was man braucht, eine gut ausgestattete Küche, ein sehr gutes Bett und gemütliche Sitzgelegenheiten. Alles bestens organisiert! Wir waren sehr zufrieden und wären gern länger geblieben.

Set in a beautiful bush location, it feels wonderfully peaceful and private, yet perfectly placed for exploring everything the Abel Tasman area has to offer. The chalets are spotless, comfortable, and very well equipped, with excellent facilities throughout. A real highlight was the daily housekeeping – something we weren’t expecting – along with generous supplies of tea, coffee, hot chocolate, biscuits, and even fresh milk, which has been surprisingly rare elsewhere in New Zealand. The staff are exceptional: friendly, welcoming, and genuinely attentive without being intrusive. Reception also has thoughtful extras like a DVD and lending library, which really adds to the relaxed, home-from-home feel. This is an ideal place for couples, whether you’re looking to completely unwind in tranquil surroundings or use it as a base for walking, kayaking, and getting active in the Abel Tasman region. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay again and can wholeheartedly recommend Ocean View Chalets to anyone visiting Marahau.

Wish we had had more time to stay longer. WM on site. Good Wi-Fi. Quiet spot. Room service every day if wanted. All very clean.
Perhaps a better fan would be good. It was hot at night. Or bug screen for a couple of windows? We did try to play a DVD but it got stuck before the end Losing Lenin. Not much tv logged in.

Great if you prefer a firm bed, personally I like soft beds. So beds were a bit hard for me. The chalet has fans and heaters available. But fan is quite loud at night, would be good if it had air conditioning available. But loved our stay all the same
