Phillippe en Sophie zijn twee zeer hartelijke hosts. Er was fijn contact vooraf en bij aankomst een warm ontvangst. Alles tot in puntjes verzorgd, van alles in de kamer, het ontbijt, de ontbijtplek en het heerlijk in de tuin kunnen zitten met prachtig uitzicht. Ze gaven vele fijne tips over omgeving, goed afgestemd op onze interesses. Phillipe kent de omgeving duidelijk heel goed. Heel fijn groot en lang bed en lief geholpen met extra lakenspullen. Ontbijt continental met verse eitjes, verse french press koffie, prachtige tuin met mooi uitzicht en bijzonder lieve hulp met hervinden en reuniten van een verloren reisdeken van me. Nogmaals dank! ❤️

Die Gastgeber Philip und Sophie sind sehr freundlich und herzlich. Es ist alles sehr schön eingerichtet und man fühlt sich direkt wohl. Das Frühstück war sehr lecker, man konnte sich sogar selbst frischen Orangensaft pressen. Philip hat uns viele gute Ausflugtipps gegeben. Insgesamt war es ein sehr schöner Aufenthalt.

Everything has been thought about for your comfort. It has all been curated with great care, attention to detail and with love. Bed was super comfy. Shower was great. The place is just beautiful, spotlessly clean and very comfortable to stay there. Breakfast choice was unreal. The hosts Philippe and Sophie genuinely care about your stay and you couldn’t be made feel more welcome. Would happily stay again.

Philippe and Sophie are the best hosts we have had in Ireland! So welcoming and full of recommendations for the region. These made our time on Beara Peninsula even better. Breakfast is great, view is breathtaking.

De hosts waren zeer vriendelijk en gastvrij en het huisje is prachtig gelegen met gebruik van de zitjes in de tuin. We zijn heel prettig gewezen op alle prachtige bezienswaardigheden in de omgeving. En het was heerlijk om af en toe te verpozen op het terras met uitzicht op zee.

This is a gem of a place in a great peaceful location with a lovely garden. Philip and Sophie, our hosts were so welcoming and generous of their time , giving lots of useful information, maps and top tips of where to visit, beaches, walks and restaurants. We had really good continental breakfast including their own honey . The bedroom was very comfortable and the kitchenette in our apartment very well equipped.

The bedroom in our apartment was small but the addition of our own sitting room / kitchenette made it work well.

Breakfast was everything you could wish for. As was the location.

Spotlessly clean, lovely garden

The hosts made us very welcome, gave us helpful information about the area and went to extra lengths to help alleviate the effect of the unusually high temperature during our stay. Also, a lovely terrace and garden area..

Phillipe and Sophie are the nicest people you could meet, the property is super and the gardens are fabulous with lovely seating areas to enjoy the views. Phillipe gives you all the local information you need and some of his own 'secret locations' 😆 The breakfast was amazing. Fresh fruit and honey from the garden every day and home baked treats, I did not want to leave!! He even gave me some peaches to take with me when I hit the road. They were delicious! I'll most definitely be back to Rodeen.

Peter and Sophie’s hospitality was wonderful; they made us feel like friends—welcomed and well-cared-for. They were discreet yet always attentive to any needs we might have had. The house offers a magical view, and the atmosphere—both inside and in the garden—radiates peace and well-being. Everything felt perfect. When we left, it felt like we were saying goodbye to old friends. A wonderful experience

I loved the gardens. So nice to walk around with my cup of coffee. The breakfast area and the selection of food was so good. Coffee was excellent. There was a beautifully decorated living room with books and games. I enjoyed looking at all the antiques. In each room they had a small fridge stocked with milk and water which was very nice for a cup of coffee in private each morning. Also there were hooks for hanging which I like so I can find my things easily. Extra blankets. They thought of everything. Hosts are lovely.

Very welcoming hosts with plenty of local advice. Lovely continental breakfasts. Availability of terraces and option to eat your own food in the garden.

The owners added a personal touch to everything and went far beyond the duties of hosts. They provided a mini fridge and a microwave for every room, had cake for self service in the afternoon. We had access to blankets and pillows, so we decided to switch the duvet for a lighter blanket. Philipp told us about all his favourite places to visit and how to get there. We loved all of them! Both Philipp and Sophie linked in with us every day and had a chat with us, answering questions and giving recommendations. The comfortable sitting area outside with a nice view was another bonus. The room was cosy and bright with bay windows and a great view.

I cannot think of anything I did not like.

Location was great for my needs, the hosts were friendly and charming and the accommodation was spotlessly clean.

The shower was very weak. A small point which did not detract from my stay and I would have no hesitation in returning to Rodeen. Highly recommend.

Wir haben uns wie zu Hause gefühlt. Eine Wohlfühloase in einem wunderschönen großen Garten mit Blick aufs Meer. Phillip und Sophie haben uns sehr herzlich begrüßt und viele nützliche Informationen mit auf den Weg gegeben. Die von Philipp vorgeschlagenen Wanderrouten waren sehr abwechslungsreich und landschaftlich traumhaft. Das Frühstück war ausgezeichnet und auch tagsüber hat man die Gelegenheit einen Kaffee oder Tee zu nehmen. Kleiner Tip: Phillip ist Autor und hat einige Bücher über Irland veröffentlicht. Am besten vorab über Amazon bestellen und von ihm signieren lassen. Wer Ruhe und die Natur liebt, kann hier seinen Irland-Traum leben.

The hosts are extremely helpful and accommodating. We had many great discussions and they provided lots of information and tips on travelling in the local area. Continental breakfasts were wonderful with a large selection of cereals, cheeses, meats, fruit, baked goods and fresh squeezed orange juice. The gardens are absolutely lovely and the location is quiet but not far from town. Our room had a nice view across the garden and out to Beara Island.

The bathroom in our room was exceptionally tiny, but that was a source of some amusement, and not at all a problem.

Breakfast very good, especially the fresh fruit, also the unlimited tea and coffee. I really appreciated the fresh mint for my mint tea.Good location for getting into town. I had difficulty finding Rodeen the first time - another direction sign further along the little road up would be very helpful.

I had a very enjoyable stay at Rodeen House. Phillippe and Sophie were great hosts, showing a genuine interest in my daily activities. The room was perfect for me with a lovely view of the harbour. The property is just outside the town in a very attractive location. The gardens are nice and relaxing for sitting out or having a short stroll. I enjoyed the breakfast too....honey from the local hive was good indeed. And the afternoon homemade cake was a lovely touch. Highly recommended!!

Sehr schöne Lage, gepflegtes Haus mit schönem Garten, Außensitzplätze und sehr zuvorkommende Gastgeber. Wir konnten etwas Essen zubereiten und idyllisch im Freien Essen.

Wir wurden von unseren Gastgebern sehr freundlich empfangen und haben gleich viele Empfehlungen zur Urlaubsgestaltung erhalten. Beide waren sehr zugewandt und hilfsbereit. Wir haben uns unglaublich wohl gefühlt. Der Garten und der Blick bis zum Meer waren ein Traum.

Rodeen House was a great find. We had a small apartment at one end of the house with its own entrance and some facilities for preparing/heating food. The owners, Philip and Sophie, were great hosts and made us feel very welcome (Philip is a wealth of information from walks and swims to fishing and eating out). Breakfast was a real treat - a proper continental breakfast, with all the trimmings. The position of the house is on a hill with views over Castletownbere and the water and if the weather is inclement there is a lounge with views (and cake!). The gardens are well kept and make a pleasant stroll to explore the plantings. We stayed in late April.

It’s in beautiful location run by a very professional, friendly and obliging couple. The property is impeccable with great views. There was nothing not to like about it. I think it was first BnB in which I stayed to supply freshly ground coffee and plunger in the rooms. A selections of Teas/Coffee and cake was also available in communal living room. Their Continental breakfast included freshly squeezed orange, a selection of cheese, meats, cereals and yogurt.

Philippe and Sophie were so very nice and helpful great breakfast and healthy helpful to plan some places to go the Beara Penninsula is absolutely beautiful and I recommend staying at Rodeen Country House

Quiet, clean, comfortable, well equipped and surrounded by a lovely garden. Self contained apartment within the main house. Hosts, Philippe and Sophie were so friendly, informative and fun. Philippe’s recommendations became the focus of our days- we wouldn’t have discovered the wonderful walks without his suggestions . This is so much more than a regular B and B. Breakfasts are lovely with lots of variety- home baking, great fresh coffee and honey from Philippe’s own Busy Bees !!

Lage : Ruhig, aber nah an Castletownbere mit vielen guten Restaurants, Supermarkt etc. Extrem aufmerksamer Gastgeber, der sich viel Zeit nimmt einem Tipps zu geben, um die versteckten Wanderwege/Sehenswürdigkeiten etc. nicht zu verpassen. Merci!! Frühstück. Vielfältig und frisch! Inkl. frisch gepresstem O.Saft! Ausserdem täglich Kuchen/Tee in der Lounge. Zimmer: nicht riesig, aber ausreichend. Mit Kühlschrank und Mikrowelle!

Hospitality was exceptional. Philippe and Sophie were fabulous hosts going above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable.

The bathroom was a bit small. The rest of the house and room were so comfortable that it didn’t really matter.

Nous avons beaucoup apprécié notre séjour. L accueil est très agréable, les hôtes sont au petit soin. D excellents conseils pour les balades, les visites, les restaurants. Tout est organisé de façon à ce que le séjour se passe parfaitement bien : petit déjeuner excellent, chambre spacieuse très propre, très agréable avec une literie de qualité. Endroit très calme et très bien situé pour visiter la région.

Het huisje was gezellig en compleet ingericht. Het was schoon. De tuin waarin het huisje gelegen was, was prachtig. De gastheer en gastvrouw waren erg aardig en attent.

De tweepersoons slaapkamer was krap, er was daar ook geen ruimte voor de koffers.

Our hosts made us really welcome - sharing their knowledge of the area and making sure that we got the most out of our stay on the peninsula. The ‘continental’ breakfast they put on each morning was so much more than that - with homemade treats and no chance of leaving the table hungry. We slept brilliantly at Rodeen Country House - fresh air, tranquil location, and comfy bed all working together in equal measure. Access to the garden, for taking in the views and the peace was a nice additional benefit

It would have been good to have had access to a serviceable wardrobe or some drawers, in which to unpack and air clothes.

Everything, quiet location convenient to Castletownbere. Facilities were excellent - room, lounge for guests, gorgeous spacious garden, excellent healthy choice at breakfast - home baking, freshly squeezed orange juice, wide selection of cereals, yogurts, cheeses, charcuterie and fruit, Perhaps the most impressive aspect of the experience was the relaxed atmosphere in the guesthouse - Philip and Sophie extend all their guests a genuinely warm welcome and are extraordinarily generous and patient with their time in advising where to go, where to dine etc. etc.

Philippe and Sophie were the perfect hosts, in summary, hospitable, generous, interesting and engaging, Philippe always introduced the various guests to each other which was really good it immediatly help to form connectiona and open up conversations in the breakfast room. Leaving

We had the privilege of spending six nights with the absolutely charming Philippe and Sophie. The lovely welcome during which Philippe sat us down and shared his recommendations on where to visit depending on the weather immediately made us feel at home. We followed his advice and had a fantastic Beara experience. The rooms in the studio were very well equipped and clean, and the bed was so comfy. A separate door to the garden was convenient as we could come and go without disturbing anyone. The garden itself was magical, with lovely views across to Bere Island. The breakfast room shared these views, which made for a delightful way to start the day. A wide variety of delicious food was on offer for breakfast, including Philippe's home-baked sweet treat of the day. In the evening, after a long outing, cake and coffee awaited us in the sitting room. It is the genuine warmth and concern for guests' comfort that makes Rodeen Country House stand out from other B&Bs we have stayed at. Philippe and Sophie were also great company, and we had many laughs during breakfast chats. The attention to detail in a quiet, elegant way makes Rodeen Country House very special.
