This particular owner wanted me to cancel last moment despite of having rooms. When I questioned him why you want me to cancel he said they are closed. Then I asked why you are are showing avaliblity if you are closed he did not have answer and cut off my line..

Comfortable & cozy cabana! Perfect location to Tangalle Beach where we were fortunate enough to see sea turtles laying their eggs! 20min walk away from Mangrove Beach where you’re allowed to swim. Friendly staff, tasty dinner. Good wifi in the restaurant area.

Well positioned for the beach , the restaurant onsite was delicious and there are also plenty nearby . The cabanas are very clean and comfortable with good bathroom facilities. Would highly recommend

So ein schönes Familienunternehmen!! Wir haben uns rundum umsorgt gefühlt. Sowohl gutes westliches als auch lokales Essen und nur ein ganz kurzer Fußweg zu einem paradiesischen Strand. Und am letzten Abend durften wir kostenlos einer brütenden Schildkröte am Strand zusehen.

We had an amazing stay! The staff was incredibly friendly and made us feel right at home. The cabanas were very comfortable, but our absolute favorite spot was the hammock right in front—the perfect place to relax. The food was a highlight too: huge portions, great prices, and everything tasted delicious. Plus, the location is fantastic, just a 3-minute walk to a beautiful beach. We already can't wait to come back!

Die Lage ist nur wenige Minuten vom Strand entfernt . Ein Familiengeführtes Resort . Die Bungalows sowie die Gartenanlage sind sehr gepflegt . Frühstück sowie Abendessen ist sehr gut . Die Familie ist immer sehr hilfsbereit . Sie bieten auch Ausflüge und transfare in die Stadt oder zu den umliegenden Nationalparks an .

Süsse Unterkunft in grüner, ruhiger Umgebung. Man hört nur das Meer rauschen und die Vögel zwischern, einfach herrlich. Die Cabanas sind einfach ausgestattet, aber sauber und gepflegt. Vor der Tür Terrasse, Stühle, Tisch und eine Hängematte, in der man wunderbar entspannen kann. Und es gibt Wäscheleinen :-) Der traumhafte, fast menschenleere Strand befindet sich in der Nähe. Zum Baden muss man ein Stück laufen, fanden wir aber absolut nicht tragisch. DIe Familie ist sehr freundlich und herzlich. Ob Frühstück oder Currys, die Mama kocht toll, das Essen war immer hervorragend. Jederzeit wieder!!!!!

One of our highlight and will recommend people to go there - great location by by the beach, one cafe / one restaurant on property ….. and the food is GREAT ! Price are not overcharged and quality food, thanks for that !!! Cottage are simple but comfortable, and you can hear birds / wazes from your bed or hammock break time. I would suggest minimum 2 nights stay regarding the season, if you come for turtle breeding season you can watch them at night and also see the babies running out from their eggs - TOP and just 100 m from the accomodation. Thank you very much for everything

Śniadanie i obiady - bardzo dobre lokalne potrawy, jest tez opcja europejska, Gospodarze przemili, niezwykle pomocni. Cisza i spokój, z dala od turystycznych skupisk. Plaża żółwi - magia, w zasięgu miłego spaceru, wracaliśmy w środku nocy.

Wir waren direkt überzeugt von der Lage dieser süßen Unterkunft. In einem schönen Garten sind ein paar Bungalows zwischen Palmen gebaut, innen ein bequemes Bett mit Moskitonetz, eine Möglichkeit, seine Sachen abzulegen und zu trocknen und ein Bad. Eine Terrasse mit Stühlen und Hängematte zum verweilen im Grünen. Eine tolle und überaus freundliche Familie, die wahnsinnig nett ist und toll kocht! Unbedingt das Thunfischfilet oder den devil Thunfisch probieren- wir haben sogar das Rezept angefragt! Die ruhige Umgebung mit Nähe zum Strand (man hört selbst im Bett noch das Meeresrauschen) und tollen anderen Strandrestaurants hat uns gut gefallen und wir würden jederzeit wieder kommen!

Uns hat wirklich alles gefallen - an sehr heißen Tagen wäre für die Zukunft ein Airconditioner sicherlich ein Upgrade, mehr haben wir nicht vermisst.

Sehr schöne Anlage mit einer freundlichen Familie, die ständig bemüht ist dir dein Aufenthalt so angenehm wie möglich zu gestalten . Hab mich sehr wohl gefühlt und würde jederzeit wiederkommen.

Accueil chaleureux, bungalow avec terrasse et hamac, transat et table, pour profiter pleinement d'un très beau jardin. Bon petit déjeuner. Très au calme et à proximité de la mer, environ 5 minutes à pied.

Un peu excentré de la ville et des plages principales à environ 10 minutes en tuk tuk pick me. Cependant aucune difficulté pour trouver de bons restos le soir dans le secteur.

unico appunto da considerare é che la spiaggia adiacente (bellissima e selvaggia) - spesso non é balneabile per via del moto ondoso e forti correnti, ma con una breve passeggiata sulla spiaggia si arriva alla zona sicura

La disponibilité du personnel, la cuisine très bonne. Ils ont été très arrangeant pour organiser le safari à Udawalawe très tôt le matin et le depart ensuite pour Ella. Le prix pour l'ensemble était très correct. L'emplacement est parfait, juste à côté de la mer.

La propreté laissait un peu à désirer. Principalement la salle de bain. Pas horrible non plus

Everything was clean/ comfortable - hammock was cool as well. Location is close to the beach and the restaurant was also nice. Owners also did a drop off to our next Accomodation for a good price.

On ne comprend pas trop l’engouement des précédents commentaires. C’est sympa mais sans plus, pas de là à passer une semaine. Le personnel est cordiale et serviable sans être forcément très très sympathique comparé au reste de nos hébergeurs lors de notre road trip. La nourriture est plutôt passable, le poisson était sec et pas très copieux.

Ubytování je v krásném prostředí blízko krásné čisté pláže, na které se líhnou želvy. Na pláži není světlo, nejsou tam restaurace. Ale je vše dostupné dál od pláže.

Die Star Light Cabanas liegen am Ende des schönen Tangalle Beach. Die Lage ist sehr ruhig und angenehm. Die Cabanas sind mit den nötigen Dingen ausgestattet (Moskito Netz, WLAN, sauberes Bad, großes Bett). Die Besitzer servieren im dazugehörigen Restaurant sämtliche Mahlzeiten wenn gewünscht. Andere Restaurants und Läden sind fußläufig erreichbar. Die Besitzer sind sehr nett und hilfsbereit.

Compacte en schone huisje met terras. Erg warm gezin dat voor je klaarstaat. Ideaal voor een nacht als tussenstop met het strand erg dichtbij.

We verbleven hier in hele knusse huisjes nabij het strand van Tangalle. De lieve, zorgzame eigenaren hebben ervoor gezorgd dat het een onvergetelijke ervaring is geworden voor ons. Het diner en ontbijt waren verrukkelijk.

We hadden geen airco maar met de ventilatoren konden we in onze huisjes prima slapen.

Die Bungalows befinden sich in Strandnähe und sind ausreichend ausgestattet. Die Gastgeber wohnen mit auf dem Grundstück und sind sehr herzlich. In dem kleinen Restaurant gibt es sehr gutes Essen, das frisch zubereitet wird. Auch das Frühstück war großartig, es blieb kein Wunsch offen.

Very quiet area, really close to the Tangalle beach. The cabanas are small, but clean and comfortable. Nice hammocks and sunbeds in front of the cabanas. Big parking space.

Ideally would have liked to be closer to a beach where swimming is possible. Our host mentioned that 20 minutes walk away there is a beach which is safe for swimming but we didn’t manage to discover it.

A peaceful location close to the pristine beaches where we swam near a reef with loads of tropical fish. The restaurant served fresh authentic Sri Lankan breakfast & dinner. Particularly enjoyed chilling out in the hammock & deck chairs on the patio.

The house is very basic but its enough. The nearby beach is heaven on earth. Its 2 mins distance from the cabana. The hosts are very nice and helpful. Very nice vibe in apart from the big city Tangalle. And we rented scooter from them

Very kind hosts. Its near the beach, very empty section. Be careful tho its dangerous to swim there. But the beach is very nice and you can walk in the water. At night there were giant turtles. Food in the restaurant was very tasty also. Huge portions. 😜 Would come back anytime.

The location and upkeep of this place was very good. Cozy and comfortable. Amazing vibe created by the lovely people running it. Walkable distance to the beach and turtle hatchery. You won't regret getting here....

Only a suggestion rather than disliking anything. The food was a little bland to my palate. Again it's only a personal experience.

Simple done extremely well. The hosts were extremely welcoming and helpful. We loved the hammocks. The breakfast was amazing too The beach is a short walk away and the main town about an hour. We loved the tranquility of the location and exploring the lagoons , there are restaurants/bars nearby but it was really close to nature at the same time

Not a criticism of the property but just a heads up to anytime , they don’t accept card and the nearest ATM is a short tuk tuk away so come prepared!

I liked everything.

We loved our stay at Star Light! It’s located close to the beach but also in the midst of nature so you get both experiences. Our little Cabana had everything we needed, you can rent a scooter or tuk tuk, and the breakfast was phenomenal :)

Really good value for money and close to the beach

My bed was comfortable with nice big pillows, a really good mosquito net and very clean sheets. The lighting was nice (warm and dimmable) with a handy bedside lamp you could turn off before sleep. The fan was new and worked well when placed near to the bed, with a range of useful settings. Overall the room was clean. It was also nice to have a terrace with deckchairs and hammock, though I wasn’t able to use them (see below for why). Mango juice and veg omelette was good at the restaurant. Didn’t try anything else. Son(?) of the family offered a taxi to my next place at a good price, although I had a slightly cheaper one already booked, and I was able to check out at 10:30 instead of 10:00. It was generally nice and quiet (apart from the construction work - see below), and just a 5 minute walk from the beautiful beach, though not an area where it’s safe to swim. Price was excellent.

I scolded myself using the shower because initially it shoots boiling hot water and sprays this boiling hot water everywhere from the joining because the head doesn’t screw properly onto the hose. Bizarrely there were four ways to get water (cold overhead shower head, shower hose with heater and two cold shower taps) but none allowed you to have a warm overhead shower as the fixture for the hose was broken so you had to hold it, and the fixture was at waist height anyway. This would be easy to fix so unsure why it’s left broken like this. Also to improve ventilation and heat, mosquito nets could be added to the inside of the window so that it can be opened from the outside at night to let the cooler air in. It was a great shame that I had to ask the owner(?) to stop the construction work directly behind my cabana at 9:30pm that had be going on all day. The owner didn’t apologise and just said “10 more minutes”. Perhaps time would be better spent fixing the current cabanas before building more…? Lastly, i couldn’t enjoy the terrace because flies landed on my skin literally every few seconds. I’ve stayed in 30+ places in the last four months of travel, including in the middle of jungle, and not experienced this. These are the pest house flies you get where there’s rotting garbage/food nearby that they breed in. Owners need to find the source and sort it out as it’s annoying and unhygienic. As proof, see how many landed on the sheets in the restaurant. I’m still giving it a 7/10 because of the price point and good potential but the above issues need to be addressed.

Very close to the beach, very spacious house , very calm, very clean. Plus each house has a hammock to chill. The hosts are very kind, helpful and flexible. Everything was easy. Also amazing local kitchen. Great food and drink variety for a more than reasonable price. We will come back. 🙏

Good food , good room

After visiting Colombo, Kandy, and Galle, we headed down to the ocean in the south, and the place where we stayed the longest was this one. We stayed eight nights and were sad to leave because the accommodation was absolutely phenomenal! 🤩 It was set in nature, exotic yet safe, and equipped with all necessary amenities, including air conditioning and always warm water. We even had our own place in front of the cottage where we relaxed every day, drinking tea and enjoying delicious pancakes. As for the hosts, they were the kindest people we could have encountered! 💙 Since there was a family restaurant, this wonderful woman prepared a new specialty for us every day, and each one seemed even better than the last. We never received such large and high-quality portions during our stay in Sri Lanka. All in all, for those who want to experience the charms of nature and the true spirit of Sri Lanka, to relax their body and soul, and recharge with positive energy, I highly recommend this accommodation. I hope we can return next year! 🏝️🌍

This is in a good part of Tangalle, near some nice restaurants and the beach where the turtles hatch. Staff were super kind and provided us with some awesome breakfasts. There were lots of frogs in the bathroom, I liked it, but it might not be everyone's vibe.

Wonderful place to stay. Very hospitable family. Rooms are basic but very clean. Food is delicious and they cater for all. You do need to have a scooter or something as it’s far from the nearest shops. But they will take you, for a small fee, which is very helpful. Great place to see turtles laying eggs and hatchlings being released.

Chananda and his lovely family made us feel so welcome. The cabanas are clean, a good size and have everything you need including a choice of hot and cold showers. You must eat in the restaurant. The food is exceptional, generous portions and very well priced. The gardens are beautiful and filled with trees, plants and flowers. We rented a moped at a very good price and it was in very good condition. One of his sons has a car business and he can drive you anywhere😃 I highly recommend Star Light Cabanas😍

The location was a bit cut off from the main strip of restaurants and bars... But if you want peace and quiet, then it's a great spot!

Bedroom amazing, best food i had in sri lanka.

I actually left for two nights but decided to come back. It is the best accommodation I had during my stay in Sri Lanka: close to nature outside but clean and in great shape inside, the hammock in front of each cabana is the place I spent most of my time, the food is amazing!!! And I even took a cooking class with the best, most friendliest host family. If I came back to Sri Lanka, definitely a place I would come back to!

I took a cooking class with a friend of mine. They put so much effort into it, organized everything and really showed us authentically how they cook. Definitely can recommend taking the class there, they even gave us a small booklet with the recipes. They were also flexible as to our wishes (eg just vegetarian curries). The food we cooked was amazing! Also the price for it was great in comparison to other places. Loveliest hosts u had during my two weeks in Sri Lanka!

Exceptional Cabanas and exceptional restaurant. We only stayed one night but it was extraordinary. The Cabanas are very spacios with a huge bed. Hyper comfortable. We also had the most powerful shower in Sri Lanka. On your terrasse are beach chairs and a hammock. All in all perfect. At night the gates are closed so that it is very safe as well. To top it all, we had a very good dinner there. Try the prawns and the Kottu -delicious and good value. I would not think twice of staying there again.

Quiet relaxing location in the green, close to turtle beach and beautiful beach restaurants .... Very good massage available in neighbourhoud ! ( Ayubowan massage). Nice kayak tour in lagoon ( birds ! varans...) ( 1500/ boat / all the morning)

Super friendly and caring owners, they make you feel part of the family. Located just next to the turtle sanctuary where you can experience turtle hatching every day. The beach (not even 5 minutes walking distance) is amazing but unfortunately not recommended for swimming. Restaurants and shops are 10/15 minutes away by TukTuk. Our cabana was quite comfy and surrounded by nature.

Lovely little cabanas, which were very clean and felt new. Each has it's own outdoor terrace, seats and a hammock which were lovely to relax in. The hosts were very attentive, smiley and the food was really good. It is very close to the beach, turtle conservation sanctuary and quite remote which is lovely for relaxing. The sea can be quite rough, but there is a safer space to swim a 10 minute walk down the beach.

Quiet, in the middle of nature. You only hear birds and the see, it’s amazing. Really clean. Hosts are very friendly. He took me with his car to the bus station when I left because no tuc tuc could pick me. 😊

There is no much restaurants by there but you can always take a tuc tuc or eat at the hotel.

There was quite a long wait for dinner, around 1h+. This seems to be because everything is cooked from scratch which is great but perhaps the menu could be shortened so the cook doesn’t have to try and make 15 different dishes. A good rice and curry would be all that is needed on the menu and much quicker.

The property was super cute and the hosts very nice, they welcomed us with tea and made us a lovely breakfast on the second day. The beach is very close and because the place is a little outside of Tangalle, you can see turtles and the milky way at night :)

Owned by a lovely Sri Lankan family and situated only couple minutes from the beach where baby turtles are released every evening at 6:30pm. Lovely clean and tidy rooms equipped with fans (AC not necessary as rooms are sheltered from the sun). The owners are extremely helpful and will organise transport and scooter hire at local rates. The food is exceptional and some of the best we’ve had in Sri Lanka. Would recommend to anyone wishing to visit the Tangalle area

I really enjoyed our stay here and totally recommend it! The cabanas are located in a quiet area along Tangalle beach, less than 5 minutes from this beautiful beach which is mostly deserted. You can still find a couple of nice bars on the beach, providing also free sunbeds with drink consumption. There are a few restaurants around that you can reach by foot. The best part of the cabana is for sure the outside area: there are comfy chairs and an amazing hammock, where you can enjoy the garden and the fresh air in the evening. I stayed 2 nigts in the small cabana and 1 night in the big one. The big one is definitely bigger, with a much more comfortable bed and newer bathroom and less warm, so if you are looking for comfort I recommend you to book that! The dinner was also delicious and with big portions.

No shops nearby and no alcohol served at the property .

We had a very comfortable stay at this accommodation. The host is extraordinarily nice. He even dropped us at the bus station and explained the best route for our upcoming journey. We would definitely recommend the Sri Lankan breakfast for 1600 LKR (It includes Dahl Curry, Chilli Sambol, a lot of hoppers, fried eggs a fruit plate and tea/coffee). The beach is very close (5 min walk). Swimming was only possible at the mangrove beach (20 min walking). A few minutes away from the accommodation you can visit a sea turtle hatchery. Around 6:30 pm they release some cute turtles (not everyday, ask the staff). Please don’t touch them or flash them with your camera flash light. All in all, if you can survive without an AC-System in the room, it’s a perfect place to enjoy the beaches of Tangalle for a few days.

For three persons the cabin is a bit small, e.g. they should adjust the number of chairs.

Wonderful people, fantastic location far away from city noise. Great food prepared with passion by hosts. Just behind a beach where you feel amazed by calm, happiness and no people around. There is a small turtle project close to the apartment where you can contemplate baby born turtles hatching out. Fully recommend this place.

The family was so lovely and caring. The breakfast and food was amazing. The atmosphere overall was very nice and calm.

Rooms were clean and comfortable, service was great and staff really helpful. Restaurant service and food great. Surroundings are lovely and you can hear the sea.

Unfortunately, you can't safely swim on the beach that's really close, but you can get a tuk tuk to Tangalle itself. There was a bit of an issue with mossies and standing water. That said the frog chorus was great!
