La stanza puzzava molto, le lenzuola non sembravano pulitissime e il letto aveva delle molle sporgenti. Abbiamo deciso di cambiare hotel, non abbiamo voluto dormire lì.

Nos levantamos sin agua y no nos pudimos ni lavar la cara, ni los dientes, ni ir al baño porque estaba todo lleno de heces. El desayuno bastante limitado. Por cierto, olía a recién pintado y no tenía ventanas la habitación... El olor a químicos era bastante fuerte.

Reviewed Jul 7, 2026Het personeel was aardig en behulpzaam, de airco deed het niet in de twinroom zonder ramen en het was er zeker 50 graden, na een beetje aandringen(ik denk dat de man me niet begreep want hij sprak niet zo goed engels)en met de eigenaar gesproken te hebben is de airco toch gemaakt. Ik had de volgende dag een tour naar de eilanden en we mochten onze koffers die hele dag daar laten staan, echt top
De hygiëne van de wc's en douche was echt ver beneden pijl, zo smerig dat ondanks dat we bezweet waren we niet durfden te douchen. De kamer was duidelijk niet schoongemaakt, de prullenbak zat nog vol en de bedden waren ook te ranzig voor woorden, er zaten haren op en ondefinieerbare zwarte dingetjes en de lakens waren helemaal geel.

El wifi funciona terrible. La ubicación es bulliciosa. Muchísima gente ruidosa hospedándose, era imposible dormirse temprano, mucho ruido incluso de madrugada. Se escuchaba todo de los dormitorios de al lado. Además de que los baños estaban siempre sucios. Por el dinero no lo vale

De omgeving is ruw, grimmig, stinkend en vuil. Weinig ruimte in de dorm. Zéér miniem ontbijt. Creamer voor de koffie, brood werd niet aangevuld.

Reviewed Feb 23, 2026In the town of Semporna, I truly felt at home. It had a magical charm — beautiful little streets, plenty of restaurants, and a harbor with an unforgettable atmosphere. All of this was perfectly complemented by the Island Backpackers accommodation. It was really clean, comfortable, and everything felt just right for a reasonable price. The only thing I’d point out were the slightly soft mattresses, but that really comes down to personal preference.

Reviewed Jan 30, 2026Okay for one night. AC in the room worked perfectly. They also offer a small breakfast and self-service washing and drying machine for free. We could leave our backpacks until departure.
Cleanliness in the bathrooms could improve. They ask you to remove shoes and slippers but then the bathroom's floor is always wet. Water stopped running twice. They could put some instructions on how to use the washing and drying machines

Only one working shower, and the rest of them either had no hot water, or no water at all. The bed was full of springs or wires that you could feel through the relatively thin mattress pad, and the walls are so thin that even conversations at normal speaking volumes could clearly be heard, which was disturbing since a group of girls next door to me were cackling for hours late at night. The breakfast options offered weren’t really things I was interested in, which was also a bit disappointing.

We used it always after the diving. So no salty water. They also have a small kitchen which the people can use + A water refill station. The location is also really good. We would book it again.

Reviewed Sep 30, 2025Great vibes, incredibly helpful staff, decent location ~5-10 min walk to the jetty. The hostel has free washer and spin-dry and a decent breakfast spread. You can make coffee/tea at any time. There's an affordable airport shuttle service you can arrange either on premises or through email/WhatsApp after you book. I actually forgot an important item in the shuttle, and staff went above and beyond helping me to coordinate its return - all after I'd left the hostel! It was so incredibly kind of them.
The wifi cut out a lot, the walls are typically thin, and the place has a very lived-in feeling. Staff cleans frequently, but it is an older building and you can see that in the toilets/showers.

Reviewed Sep 19, 2025Ottima posizione, vicinissima alla zona dove arrivano tutti i bus e a 10/15 minuti a piedi dal Jetty. Attorno diversi supermercati e ristoranti buoni ed economici. Il persone molto Gentile e ha fatto di tutto per aiutare tutti gli ospiti. Zona comunque molto grande, ostello con ottimo layout per stanze-bagni. La maggior parte degli ospiti sono qui per il diving ed è molto interessante poter parlare e scoprire nuovi posti. Abbiamo provato sia i dormitori misti che le camere private ed entrambe erano pulite, con letti comodi e bei dormitori c’era una tenda che dava tutta la privacy necessaria. Colazione ottima, sempre disponibile the, caffè, toast, burro di arachidi, marmellata e burro. Si può anche prenotare un trasporto per l aeroporto per 30rm a persona. Veramente felici. Consigliato molto!!!
Niente. C’è stato un black out durato 4/5 giorni ed il personale ha fatto di tutto per far sì che avessimo elettricità ed acqua corrente, oltre che prese e ventilatori. Veramente felice di essere stata in questa struttura durante questo blackout.

S'accedeix sense clau i les habitacions tampoc hi havia claus... Només tenia una taquilla petita per posar-hi les coses importants però podria ser insuficient. Les lliteres es mouen molt i fan soroll, i els llits de dalt no tenen cortines.

La camera era pulita e il materasso comodo, aria condizionata, luce individuale, box per gli oggetti personali in camera. La sistemazione non aveva la tenda, ma altre camere l'avevano. Posizione centrale a 5' dal porto, possibilità di bus condiviso per l'aeroporto a 35 rm. Il personale gentile e disponibile alle varie richieste con possibilità di partecipare ai tour alle isole. Ottimo rapporto qualità-prezzo con colazione inclusa. Bagni abbastanza puliti per i canoni della Malesia, le signore li passavano diverse volte al giorno, però sono con water e doccia assieme (come spesso capita qui).
Non tanto spazio per appoggiare le valigie in camera.

Mein Dorm hatte keinen Vorhang, es gab kein warmes Wasser und leider war auch mein gebuchter Flughafen Transfer vergessen worden, sodass ich mir in letzter Minute ein Grab nehmen musste. Es hat zwischenzeitlich ins Gebäude geregnet. Die Straßen sind sehr dreckig, aber das liegt an der Stadt und nicht am Hostel, jedoch sollte man sich dessen bewusst sein.
