Reviewed Sep 19, 2026Tout! Les hôtes sont d’une extrême gentillesse et renseignent très bien sur les activités à faire dans la région. La literie est très propre et confortable. Nous avons eu le studio, qui est immense. Les enfants se sont sentis comme à la maison grâce à la bonne ambiance qui règne dans cette auberge. La cuisine est bien équipée et les petits déjeuners sont très appréciables. Merci beaucoup!

Reviewed Sep 16, 2026La struttura è molto bella e ha tutto il necessario, noi abbiamo dormito in una stanza doppia con bagno in camera per un rapporto qualità prezzo oltre le aspettative. Si trova a una decina di minuti a piedi dal centro di San cristobal ma è comunque molto comoda, organizzano escursioni e attività all’interno della struttura molto carine

Reviewed Sep 13, 2026Fantastic hostel!!! Great location and it is staffed by lovely people who keep the place spotless. It was like staying with a big Mexican family for two weeks. Breakfast was always delicious and it was nice to have the use of the super clean well equipped kitchen. I hope to return next year to continue to work on my Spanish.

Reviewed Sep 9, 2026La struttura è molto carina con cortili interni. Le camere sono essenziali ma tenute bene. C’è la possibilità di accedere alla cucina e c’è acqua sempre disponibile. Ottima colazione.
Alcuni membri dello staff non erano molto cordiali né disponibili. C’è una finestra sul tetto della matrimoniale che non si può oscurare quindi ci si sveglia presto. Niente di insormontabile.

Reviewed Sep 3, 2026הוסטל מקסים! משפחתי מאוד. נילי המנהלת מקסימה ועזרה לנו מאוד. הארוחת בוקר טובה, כיף לראות נשים מנהלות הוסטל, הרגיש ממש כמו להגיע הביתה. המיקום ממש נוח. בתוך ההוסטל יש המון פעילויות, ההוסטל חברתי ונחמד להכיר ככה אנשים. בתוך ההוסטל יש מלא צמחים וזה ממש כמו גינה נעימה.

Reviewed Aug 31, 2026Exceptional in many ways - closeness to the historical center (about 10mins walk), but quiet, cleaniless of rooms, facilities and kitchen (staff clean every room everyday, and make my bed in a private room), cleaning staff's friendliness, picturesque hostel environment, strong WiFi signals, and absolute value for money. Probably the best hostal I've ever stayed in the 58 countries I've visited. Daily hostal activities are advertised, but I'm not sure about the uptake since there weren't many guests during my stay.
If I were to be really picky, I don't feel comfortable with disposing used toilet paper in a rubbish bin next to the toilet as it doesn't feel hygienic. However, this is to avoid toilet blockage which seems to be quite common in some cities.

Reviewed Aug 27, 2026La Posada del Abuelo è uno di quei posti che difficilmente si dimenticano. Un ambiente autentico, accogliente e pieno di calore, dove sembra davvero di essere ospiti a casa di una grande famiglia. Tutto è curato nel rispetto della natura: dagli spazi all’architettura, dai materiali all’atmosfera, senza nulla di artificiale o costruito. È un luogo che conserva un’anima, perfettamente inserito nell’ambiente di San Cristóbal. La cosa più bella è proprio la sensazione che si prova entrando: non sembra un semplice hotel, ma una casa dove qualcuno ti sta aspettando. Un posto genuino, particolare e pieno di carattere. Se cercate un’esperienza autentica, lontana dai classici alberghi impersonali, ve lo consiglio assolutamente. Per me è stato uno dei posti più belli e speciali del viaggio. ❤️🇲🇽

Les informations touristiques pour les tours ne sont pas toujours très claires, notamment pour le retour de Palenque où on ne nous ramène pas à l’auberge, même si on rentre tard (22h30) c’est dommage, mais c’est plus un problème de l’agence que de l’auberge

Reviewed Aug 21, 2026Il posto ha un'atmosfera accogliente e molto messicana (vedi sotto), immerso nel verde con numerose aree comuni che facilitano le conoscenze e nel complesso è pulito, tutti i giorni pavimenti e bagni vengono lavati. La posizione è comoda al centro e al mercato artigiano meno turistico e quindi più interessante.
Camera buia, tutto l'insieme necessita ammodernamenti o piccole riparazioni (pulsante della lampada del comodino, imbottitura delle poltrone esterne), colazione essenziale. La strada su cui si affaccia la struttura non è illuminatissima.

Studio achterin is het bed wel erg krakerig. En badkamer is echt super klein. Had verwacht dat je hier makkelijk andere reizigers zou ontmoeten maar er mist een fijne plek om te zitten binnen. ‘‘s avonds is het te koud om buiten te zitten.

Reviewed Aug 6, 2026Bonito lugar, genial para el precio. Las chicas del desayuno muy majas, y el desayuno con huevos, fruta, cereales, pan... (una ventaja que estén incluido). A 15 minutos del centro, por calles que parecen solitarias, pero tranquilas. Las sábanas súper suaves y la ducha amplia.
Había algo de sensación de humedad en la habitación, pero la manta acaba con ella.

Kunnen vele duurdere hotels nog wat van leren. - Goed bed - Schone kamers en gedeelde ruimtes - Vriendelijk personeel - Gratis parkeren op terrein van het Hostel. Hou er wel rekening mee dat ze slechts plek hebben voor 3 auto’s en vol=vol - Met 10 minuten lopen ben je in het centrum
- Wij sliepen aan de straatkant en daar hoor je ‘s nachts wel autos met harde muziek voorbij razen. Daarnaast hebben ze in San Cristobal een traditie om constant vuurwerk af te steken. Hier kan het hostel niets aan doen maar ik zou oordoppen adviseren.

Reviewed Jul 22, 2026Les extérieurs et les pièces communes de la Posada del Abuelito sont magnifiques, à la fois reposants et conviviaux. Le personnel est adorable, c'est très propre. Le petit déjeuner est très bon. On est à 10 petite minutes à pied du centre, ce qui permet d'être au calme. Le prix est vraiment très très bon marché.

Reviewed Jul 6, 2026Very friendly hostel, and you can't beat the price. Nice walking distance from many attractions in town. Love that breakfast was provided and the social atmosphere meant we were able to meet many friendly fellow travelers. They also have a place to park your car in the back since street parking is almost impossible.
We stayed in 2 rooms. The first room was in the back by the street which was fairly noisy. The second room was closer to the front and well insulated from noise.

Reviewed May 25, 2026El personal muy atento y muy amable, el ambiente tranquilo, el acceso a la cocina para prepararse de comer, la limpieza de los espacios, la biblioteca multilingüe. El desayuno se sirve de 7 a 10.30am, e incluye huevos, pan, mantequilla, mermelada casera (deliciosa), cereales, leche, fruta de temporada (plátanos y otra fruta) y café chiapaneco. Está bien ubicado con relación al centro y al mercado Castillo Tielemans.
El frío: San Cristobal de las Casas siempre me sorprenderá por el ambiente frío, sobre todo en las noches y las mañanas. Lo bueno es que las construcciones de adobe son muy térmicas, por lo que adentro del cuarto estaba muy agradable.

Reviewed May 15, 2026Checked me in at 6 in the morning even though It was only guaranteed from 14 pm, all sorts of activities all the time, sufficient water for everyone, and a very friendly vibe all around, people all talking, they have a locker with a lock for you, very very comfy bed and blankets, and patios that are so nice.
Lacks heat in common areas but mostly because I did not think to bring warm clothes, and the shower heads are not so comfortable, but almost nothing really. Honestly best hostel I have ever been in, easily, like okay I have been in maybe only like 10 total, but this is miles above everything else that I have tried

Le petit déjeuner est délicieux, les espaces communs et extérieurs sont spacieux, verdurés et hyper mimis; la chambre charmante et le lit très confortables, les sanitaires propres et spacieux. Mais le mieux ici reste l'accueil de tout le personnel, hyper souriant, chaleureux, au petit soin. Merci 1000 fois pour ça ❤️

Reviewed Apr 28, 2026C'est de loin la maison arrangée avec le plus de goût que nous avons vu à San Cristóbal de las casas. Un vrai artiste ce Fernando! Le souci du détail et de bon goût nous permet d'apprécier le comfort de la chambre, et tous les menus services pour nous faire passer un bon temps. C'est la 2eme fois que nous prolongeons notre séjour! Sans parler du prix qui vaut bien le déplacement. Tranquillité, nature ,oiseaux...
L'arrivée est un peu épique sans what's app...le son de la cloche insuffisant, l'extérieur de la clôture et le manque de visibilité du lieu manquent d'entretien.

Un super petit déjeuner délicieux et copieux, des sanitaires propres et spacieux, une grande chambre avec un lit confortable, des espaces communs très mimis et une super localisation ! Mais surtout des personnes accueillantes, adorables et au petit soin ❤️ C'était parfait, ces 3 jours nous ont fait un bien fou et sont tombés à point nommés dans notre voyage. Merci 1000 fois !

Die Küche und Badezimmer total passend, im Zimmer hätte es ein wenig mehr Möglichkeiten zum verstauen und Aufhängen von Kleidung geben können. Die Gastgeber waren sooooo nett und hilfsbereit und die Hechte im Wasserbassin sehr spannend. Ich würde sofort wiederkommen.

Reviewed Apr 12, 2026Sehr schönes Hostel mit vielen schönen Ecken, Sitzmöglichkeiten, und sehr hilfsbereiten Personal. Die Themenabende, wie z. B Tamalisabend laden dazu ein neue Leute kennenzulernen. Die Zimmer sind zwar einfach ausgestattet aber alles ist sauber.

Es gab an einem Tag zu wenig Wasser in der Unterkunft, sodass man nicht duschen konnte. Generell etwas in die Jahre gekommen.

No luggage storage in the rooms which is always helpful. I also had to change my stay and couldn’t get a refund. Wasn’t expected but would have been a nice to have.

Er was geen ventilatie in onze badkamer en de douche was niet constant qua temperatuur.
