It felt like a home - very welcoming and clean with a very user friendly and generous kitchen. Lovely log fire and couches. Fantastic views and right in town. Lots of useful kitchen items if you are travelling light. Bed was super comfortable (I booked a room to myself)

I felt the number of toilets and showers were a bit low, especially if the lodge was full. I would not have wanted to wait too long for the toilet (only saw 2 toilets and 2 showers). I never encountered a problem personally though. Lots of products left behind though so very generous if you are travelling light.

The location with the mountains view is stunning, the staff and the facilities are great!! Comfortable and clean.

A clean and cosy little hostel with a warm atmosphere. The common room has a fireplace which is perfect for cold nights, and the kitchen is well-stocked with great tea selections. Plenty of books to read. Parking is easy. Note: bring your own towel and a bag for the bathroom. Good value for a night or two!

I had a wonderful stay here! The hostel is very clean, peaceful, and quiet, with comfortable shared facilities. The location is beautiful, and one of my favorite things was being able to watch the sunrise from the shared areas. The staff were incredibly helpful and kind. I accidentally booked my stay for the wrong date, and even though there was an issue with Booking.com processing the refund, the staff member went above and beyond to make sure I received my refund. I really appreciated her understanding and willingness to help. The location is also very convenient — it’s within walking distance of several parts of the city including the museum and visitor's center and close to the intercity bus station, which made getting around very easy. Overall, a lovely place with a peaceful atmosphere, beautiful surroundings, and genuinely caring staff. Highly recommended!

If you’re arriving by intercity bus, there is a very short uphill walkway to the hostel, but the nice part is there are no stairs, so it’s an easy walk even with luggage or stroller.

コンセントが1箇所にしかないので、 携帯を充電するのが大変でした。

Inter Cityバス発着所から近い(ただしチェックインは坂を上るのが大変)。部屋から海と星が見える。隣に広大な芝生の広場のようなところがあるので、星空観察ができる。オーナーさんが親切で、午前中の到着だが部屋に入れてくれた。またチェックアウト後、夕方のバスに乗る前に共用部屋で休憩させてもらえた。

台所がきれい過ぎて、食器拭きをどうしたらよいか、コーヒーの淹れ方がわからず使えなかった。(他の人達は本格的にお料理をしていた)共用バスルームは清潔だったがシャワーが弱い、シャンプー類は置いてなかったので持参する必要がある。

Warm and friendly hostel which I appreciated as others I'd stayed at in early winter were virtually empty and physically cold. Some offsite parking, more on street outside. Located at a viewpoint with a walkway down to Main Street/information centre/museum. Manager refunded me on arrival as the room I was provided wasn't the exact one I'd booked, but the room I had and facilities were just fine.

We stayed in the double room with private bathroom. It was a bit dated but clean and comfy and warm. Shower a bit low pressure but otherwise fine. Staff friendly and kitchen facilities and communal areas good. It’s a converted house so 4 parking spots outside on the drive and free parking on street which was good

A great and beautiful spot with pohutukawa trees so quiet and serene I had to pinch myself!

Super organizado, tranquilo e respeitoso. Silêncio absoluto após 10pm e extremamente limpo. Vista incrível das montanhas e do mar durante todo o dia e nascer do Sol de tirar o fôlego.

Amazing location, convenient to city, beach, mountain views and intercity bus stops. Really nice shared indoor/outdoor spaces within the property too. A lot more homely than the pictures suggest (seem to be rather outdated)

Not much security for your belongings, but the place is pretty small and everyone was pretty respectful so I wasn't worried.

The owner was super nice and they provided me a enough blanket ！

what i liked the most was the cozy vibe of the place, it really felt like staying at a friend’s house, something that’s quite rare these days when many hostels focus more on a chic, design-forward style. my room had a nice view and the bed was very comfy. the shared kitchen was lovely, and i appreciated that the owner provided separate bins for different types of waste, which is great for the environment. the owner and staff were super nice and helpful. there’s also a spot outside the house where you can hang out, but unfortunately it rained the whole time i was there. very close to the intercity bus stop, though you do have to walk uphill a bit.

the walls are a bit thin and not very soundproof, so as a light sleeper, i did wake up when the guests next door left early in the morning. But it's acceptable overall. They weren't that loud actually.

Dolphin Lodge is in a nice old house centrally located just up the hill from Kaikoura's town centre. There's a well-equipped kitchen, spacious common areas and a relaxing garden. The staff I met were all very friendly and welcoming, and the house was quiet and peaceful even while full of guests (which I prefer). I enjoyed coming back to my cosy room after a long day wandering around the nearby peninsula (which is well worth checking out). Definitely highly recommended!

This was hands down the best hostel I've staid in so far on my travels. Very clean, super cozy and staff was wonderful. Highly reccomend!

Staff were helpful considering my inability t walk and climb steps.

There wasn't a photo of the lodge on the booking site so I wasn't able to see how difficult access would be for me,

The hotel cancelled on the very day we were supposed to stay. According to them, it was Booking's fault but Booking never confirmed. The hotel did reimburse us, but I still find it baffling that they found out about the "double booking" so late considering I had booked months before.

Great location, nice back packers, seemed clean, and the host was lovely and friendly.

The welcome at Dolphin was lovely; it is in a great location and the bed in my double room was very comfortable. Sadly it was blowing an absolute gale when I was there so I will have to come back to enjoy Kaikoura fully.

Sadly there are only 2 (unisex) toilets/showers for well over 20 people and the common spaces are also somewhat cramped.

Locatie was heerlijk, tuin en supermooi uitzicht over de oceaan!
