Die Unterkunft liegt wunderschön im Urwald. Sie wird von Mona geführt, die hier allein mit ihrem kleinen dreijährigen Jungen lebt. Wer einen authentischen Home Stay in mitten von Natur und privatem Naturpool sucht ist hier genau richtig. Wir waren mit vier Kindern hier und haben das Waterrafting sehr unkompliziert am gleichen Tag durch Mona organisiert. Etwas bergauf gibt es einen kleinen Wasserfall, in dem die Kinder wunderschön spielen konnten. Transport zur Unterkunft wurde durch Mona unkompliziert mit einem TukTuk organisiert. Da ein Van die letzten Meter nicht mehr fahren kann. Sollte man mit Rucksäcken anreisen, kann man jedoch auch unterhalb heraus gelassen werden und den letzten Weg hoch wandern. Die Unterkunft ist einfach aber sauber und es gibt genug Platz. Die Luftfeuchtigkeit ist sehr hoch, so dass auch Badeanzüge eigentlich nicht trocknen, das sollte man bei der Planung berücksichtigen.

De locatie is fantastisch: midden in de jungle met natuurlijk zwembad. De mensen zijn super aardig.

De vochtigheid is echt een minpunt: alles in de kamer(s) rook muf, vochtig en naar schimmel. Op zich logisch vanwege de locatie maar wij vonden het een nadeel.

Vriendelijke ontvangst. Leuk natuurbad. Midden in jungle gelegen, maar daardoor wel wat lastig bereikbaar. Verrassend lekker gegeten, zowel diner als ontbijt.

Vochtig doordat het in de jungle ligt en er geen airco is. Beddengoed ruikt daardoor niet lekker. Basic verblijf, maar prijs kwalitatief wel goed. Matrassen dun.

Mona and her son are really nice people who do everything they can to make us feel at home. Food was very good, the environnement is amazing and quiet. It s hard to reach by car but it s soooo worth it ! Thank you !

De gastvrouw die heel vriendelijk was en telkens een lekkere maaltijd te voorschijn toverde. De prachtige natuur waarin je ondergedompeld wordt. Je voelt je dadelijk zen! De natuurlijke zwempartij vlakbij het huisje.

De kamers zijn echt wel verouderd en zijn aan vernieuwing toe.

A lovely stay with Mona and her lovely son. It felt very authentic and rural. Had a lovely evening meal cooked by our host. The natural pool was a highlight. Mona arranged rafting for us as well.

Could do with signage from the road as its a little difficult to find.

The remote setting is lovely, as was our hostess, who happily arranged tuk tuks and cooked delicious breakfasts and dinners for us (to be fair, there are no other options as it is deep within a plantation).

Accommodation is very basic. You are likely to meet plenty of insect wildlife of all varieties in the room/bathroom.

Remote, birds, walks, water, forests ...lots of nature.

Mitten im Wald gelegen, aber sehr gepflegtes Grundstück mit einer sehr netten Gastgeberin. Sie hat für uns gekocht und gute Tips für kleine Wanderungen und Bademöglichkeiten gegeben. Wir haben uns sehr wohlgefühlt.

Die Anfahrt ist durch Google nicht sonderlich gut beschrieben.

This was our favorite place on our trip. Both in terms of Kitugala and the nature and people living here, but especially because of Mona, her son and the very relaxed and homy feel this place had. We absolutely loved it!

Fantastische locatie midden in de natuur om echt tot rust te komen. De gastvrouw was fantastisch en vriendelijk. Eten echt super en echte home cooking. Bedden waren redelijk met wat dunne matrassen maar dat is persoonlijk. Ook een natuurlijke zwemvijver tussen 2 watervallen in. Echt een toplocatie waar we ook langer dan 2 nachten hadden kunnen blijven. We hebben geraft wat supergaaf en ook zeker veilig was (onze jongste is 11 jaar)

Wifi was zeer beperkt. Douchen zoals op veel plekken in Sri Lanka met weinig waterdruk en maximaal lauw water.

Even helemaal weg van drukte en andere toeristen. Deze accomodatie ligt midden in de jungle. Je kunt zwemmen onder een waterval en de gastvrouw verzorgt het eten. Via haar ook raften en canyoning geregeld.

Zoals je kunt verwachten in de jungle zijn er overal insecten, dus er lopen bijvoorbeeld ook mieren in je kamer.

Een geweldige locatie midden in het regenwoud met natuurzwembad mét waterval in de achtertuin. Eén unieke ervaring! Allebei de avonden heerlijk gegeten. Lieve hosts die altijd voor je klaarstaan. Zo heeft Mona een tuktuk voor ons geregeld om onze bagage weer terug naar de main road te brengen.

Na even nadenken zijn we tot de conclusie gekomen dat niets ons tegen viel😀

The host was very sweet, good communication and very good homemade food.

The location is remote. Lots of places to walk and swim. Ayurvedic hospital for massage and medication is excellent. Food is great. Little shop is a short walk as is the temple.

Mona was an incredibly gracious host, and her son is absolutely adorable. She’s also a wonderful cook—every meal was delicious and made with care. The location is truly nestled in the heart of the forest—an idyllic green paradise. That said, if you’re uncomfortable around insects or wildlife, this may not be the right spot for you, and it’s best not to waste Mona’s time. For nature lovers, though, it’s a dream come true. The natural pool is simply breathtaking.

There was nothing I didn’t like. Just keep in mind that the property is in a remote area and can be a bit tricky to reach. That said, Mona has thoughtfully provided everything you might need, including food and water, so you’ll be well taken care of once you arrive.

The location is stunning and Mona is an excellent cook. We ended up eating all our meals here and she helped us to book rafting/canyoning and transport at cheaper rates than we could have for. Highly recommended

Amazing nature retreat with natural pool. In a less touristy area, and with only the sound of birds and other animals we had the best sleep ever. Mona was super helpful and cooked some of the best meals we had in Sri Lanka. Highly recommend staying here

Amazing location. The host took care of us from our arrival until check out. The river passing by made it crazy to our kids. Really impressive and natural pond just for us, sorrounded by nature and tea plantation. There are 2 room, along the host s house.

Mona, her aunt and her boy Shaun are just adorable. The place is unique and when you arrive, you find yourself away from everything in the middle of the jungle, it’s absolutely stunning. There is wildlife, beautiful birds dancing and a natural pool that is incredible. I am a solo mum traveler with my toddler and it was beautiful to see our sons play together. She even watched my boy so I could get enjoy the natural pool. Mona is a cool and lovely woman and I loved how her and aunty are running thia place. I would love to come back! Dinner was one of the best I had in Sri Lanka! Absolutely loved this place!

Gallene Gala Nature Resort is an idyllic location next to the river and in the middle of the jungle. The location is very serene and beautiful. The place is a tad hard to find and the journey via tuk tuk to the hotel is an adventure. The hosts were kind.

The rooms (while clean) were a tad tired.

Stunning hidden oasis, the natural pool was a welcome treat after a long tuk tuk journey. Mona and her family were wonderful hosts during our stay, amazing evening meal and breakfast!

Hard to find, and difficult road to access property. We had a tuk tuk and it struggled! Lovely locals helped us find the property.

Amazing home cooked Sri Lankan style food, beautiful natural pool, spectacular views nearby the stay. Kitulgala is famous for toddy, ask Mona (who manages the stay) for a bottle or two.

If there is paradise it must look like this. It is hard to reach (impossible by car, but duable by tuk tuk), but when you arrive.... look for yourself!

Mona was an excellent host and her location is beautiful! The swimming area is perfect for a dip and relaxation. She was very accommodating to our family of 8! And the food was delicious! Thank you Mona!

Mona (the host) is very lovely and made us the best meals. We thought it was a amazing that we only had to walk 1 minute to the private natural after a hot day. You will be in the middle of nature at this place and we loved it! We saw a lot of different small animals just by sitting outside our room and watching. It’s a quiet and calming place to get some rest after a day wildrafting ;). Be aware that it is a little bit of a difficult road to get to the accommodation.

We loved our one-night stay in the jungle with Mona, family and her lovely son. The house is very cosy just next to a waterfall. After an exciting rafting trip, we enjoyed a fantastic dinner, and the breakfast was delicious.

Just next to a really beautiful river with cascades and we can swim - she cooks awesome meal - she made me taste a lot of fruits that she has around her house - she cooked for me a breadfruit that I have bought at the market - she was so lovely and she answered all my questions - shawn, her little boy, is ssssoooo cute - 200m from a small temple and a small shop

The matress wasnt confortable

this is the most amazing and magical place in Sri Lanka and the host is an absolute treasure. I loved every minute of it and will defienietly come back. It’s an offsite location, with a natural pool and waterfall. Thank you so much Mona for making our stay so special 🩷

The most beautiful jungle setting, beautiful natural pool to swim in, could spend at least a day in natural pool and waterfalls. Host is hugely accommodation and cooks amazingly to your preference and timing. Accessibility is hard but host goes out of her way with contacts etc to make it easier for you - we rented a tuk tuk and she had someone drive it out for us. I had irrational fear of insects but wanted to make the best of natural pool. Mona spent the morning sweeping already well kept path to natural pool to make me comfortable (I had no idea til after and did not request this!) Mona is amazing and provides a true family feel.

Set in the middle of the jungle in harmony with its surroundings. Mona was a fab host and great cook!

The owner was so kind and caring. I was not well and she checked on me and made sure I was well fed. The food was awesome. The swimming hole near by was nice for a jungle dip. The jungle surroundings were serene and peaceful. The road in was about 3kms of rockiness, our driver dropped us half way (due to being in a Toyota Prius) and the owner organised a tuk tuk to get us and our gear there.

It’s amazing atmosphere beyond that one of the cleanest and cosy room i had since im in Sri Lanka. ☝️ Absolute great base also for hiking, cinnamon plantation nearby. Could only recommend

Beautiful and quiet place in the middle of the nature with a very friendly host. Next to the accommodation is a natural swimming pool with a lot of tiny waterfalls. You can also do a little hike to reach the source of the waterfall. And last but not least, the food is very tasty and fresh. I highly recommend this place!

It is very amazing place, a real jungle with a lot of different animals!! The room was nice and clean, the lunches and dinners are local cuisine, but very tasty! If you want to live in the real nature, we will recommend this place!

A nice and cozy place , it is located by the river side with amazing waterfalls around , The room was more than excellent, very clean , wide space , and good bathroom with hot water. Nora , the owner was very kind and helpful, she offered us tea , coffe and water for free. She also make a very delicious breakfast . She walked with us to the waterfalls and this was amazing. Sure will come again 😍

Amazing place. Surrounded by nature. With a little waterfall next to the place and a private natural pool, the whole experience was quite unique.

The host Mona was amazing. Great cooking and hospitality. A pearl just inside nature. Clean and accommodating. Very quite and full of magic.

The property is a homestay and Mona is an excellent host. We were treated like family and even though we had some difficulty reaching the location she followed our journey and sent someone out to guide us. When we arrived it was late but she still went out of her way to serve us a tasty local dinner and breakfast. The location is very remote and the natural pool with small waterfall on the property is something we enjoyed immensely. Thank you again for your hospitality and highly recommended!

I like the location, though it's a little difficult to find, it is astonishing with a natural pool and the night jungle sounds.

- amazing location in the middle of the forest - a stream and birds singing on the spot - an interesting experience with a bath in a stream (cool water but you could swim for a while) - friendly and caring service - we were supposed to arrive late so the owner offered to prepare dinner for us (the house is far from the town so there are no other options nearby)

access road, especially at night, not easy to drive (the map stops working, the road is bumpy) - fortunately, an employee came to pick us up on the last section and showed us the way

I really like the place and accommodation. Natural pool was amazing ang Lady who was taking care of the place was really lovely. Food was also really good.

Located within a very natural environment surrounded by the sounds of water, birds and animals. Service provided by Kanthi, the staff, was very good.

No WiFi was available and issue couldn’t be resolved. Also it would have been good to have some mosquito related detergents, especially in the early part of the evening - a mosquito coil or spray would have been welcome.

Before we even arrived they were very communicative. We ending up arriving late and they sent someone to meet us on the main road to guide us in. They made us a delicious dinner and even went to get us some beers after our long drive. At every opportunity they could not do enough for us. The surrounding area was absolutely stunning in the rainforest. Very peaceful, clean and a crystal clear waterfall to swim in. They arranged us the white water rafting which was also great. I couldn’t recommend more!
