The owners made us most welcome, and we could see they were happy to share their beautiful home. The breakfast options were wonderful.

Very little however, not having an electric blanket or to match the era of the house, a hot water bottle would have been fun.

Breakfast an added bonus. Quite a pleasant change to staying in a regular motel.

The location, the scenery and the accommodation was excellent.

A stunning place

A very beautiful old house surrounded by a lovely garden and palm trees. We booked a room with en suite bathroom, but the bathroom was outside our room. But since it was only for our use, it was fine. The house is very well equipped and we felt very comfortable. The hosts were not at home during our stay, but we had all information we needed, including the code for the key - safe.

This was a beautiful property and it was a privilege to stay there for a night. The hosts were very welcoming and generous in spite of our late arrival, which was kind. Breakfast was first class.

The plumbing was somewhat disconcerting in our room, but in a property of this vintage that wasn’t unexpected.

It is a beautiful, spacious old house with lovely native woods giving a warm feeling. Our hosts were very welcoming and helpful, happy to give local information on restaurants etc. Our room was large and comfortable with an en suite, and my husband enjoyed the large claw foot bath in the shared bathroom also. Our only slight disappointment was that other reviews has stressed 'excellent breakfasts' so we has expected cooked breakfast to be offered. There was plenty of food to help ourselves to including eggs to cook (no bacon) - it was just not what we expected.

Great countryside to look at. The breakfast was good with lots of choice.

We had a very comfortable room with ensuite. The location is quiet and relaxed. Breakfast was great. The owners were very helpful with advice about cafes and restaurants and things to do.

Sitting outside looking over the field and cows was lovely. The grounds and building are beautiful and there is a good selection to make your own breakfast - though bacon would have been great to have too

The bed was terrible - super soft mattress that we sunk into. Our room was next to the shared bathroom and we could hear everything that went on in there.

We stay at Headlands Estate a 2nd time in 5 days because it was a fantastic place to stay and relax. Annette & Steve are phenomenal hosts. The 2nd visit was like walking back into our home.

Hosts Annette & Steve were amazing. Warm welcome when we arrived. Very informative about the area, places to eat and see. We sat talking for hours, felt just like home. Views from the home were divine, rolling country, there own private lawn mowers (sheep) Breakfast in the country kitchen was great. Would advise anyone to book this accommodation

The location and surrounding areas were beautiful, and the property itself was wonderful.

The bed felt like I was balancing on it maybe because it was a twin, but moving made me feel like I was going to fall off of it.

We thought the accomodation was en suite when we made the booking and that a full breakfast would be provided. We admit we misread the accomodation details. Our advice of entry did not come through from Booking.com in time - should be at least 48hrs before. Admit hereagain we didn't check our booking.com. It was hard to get hold of hostess when we arrived in the rain. Hereagain we ahould have rechecked our booking.com advice. Besides that the other guests were charming. Many mistakes mostly on our side. It was a special weekend for us being our Silver Wedding anniversary. An exuberance or expectation overlooked the facts. Thanks

Ich hatte mir ein umfangreiches Frühstück erhofft. Stattdessen konnte man sich in der Küche mit Toast, Butter, Marmelade, Müsli, Joghurt selbst bedienen. Eier gab‘s auf Anfrage. Ich kam mir ein wenig wie in einer WG vor.

It was a great location as we were travelling north from the Wellington ferry and it was just over 2 hours. Annette and Steve were very welcoming and very helpful. It is a beautifully restored house.

I was running a Motorcycle course in Whanganui on the Saturday and wanted a peaceful and relaxing time with somewhere safe to park my motorbike overnight. The accommodation and peace and quiet was absolutely perfect. I was unable to meet the hosts as we were ships passing in the night. Thank you for providing the perfect get away before a long day of instruction. Thanks Philip

It wasn't really clear from the listing information whether this is a B&B, a homestay or you get the whole place to yourself. It is probably closer to a B&B however you are using the same kitchen as the owners. The listing states 'superb breakfast served daily, continental style etc..'. In reality it is a help yourself breakfast, there was sliced bread in the fridge, butter, jams and cheap fruit yoghurts, eggs and milk. There's nothing wrong with that per se, but it just wasn't what we were expecting for the price and from the listing info. In terms of location, you cannot really go for a walk from the house, you have to get in your car everytime as it's right on the main road. Overall we were just a bit surprised at the set up, and we think it might be a bit overpriced, probably due to the lack of accommodation in the area.

The house was gorgeous and had everything we needed. Loved the features e.g. vintage toilets w chains, like obviously the propietors have put a lot of time and love into restoring it and keeping the spirit of the place intact. You can feel it.

There was nothing i didn't like. The twin bed room could use a few extra pillows ( rectangular pillows not throw pillows).

Lovely welcome, I used an umbrella to stroll around the stunning garden with my morning coffee.

Breakfast was fine. Good range of cereals and bread. Would have been nice to have bacon or sausages and eggs if you wanted a cooked breakfast.

An open window in the bedroom would be helpful with a bug screen as the room was hot, or have a hot or cold air conditioning unit installed would make it more comfortable.

The B&B had a lovely, calm, safe feel about it. The owners were very welcoming and made it a pleasure to stay there.

Good options including a selection of cetals and different breads for toast. Fresh and can fruits.

It was a bonus to use the kitchen facilities. The breakfast supplies were great. A very nice place to stay and very friendly hosts and dog.

Our hosts were wonderful. We were only there overnight and were rather tired. We had blankets on the bed which were a bit heavy, not having used blankets for years, but we don’t live in NZ. The house, the garden and the total vista was amazing, even spectacular.

Love staying at this place!! So nice and clean and the host are awesome! I have stayed twice now and would love to stay again.

I loved it! But I think the price could be better considering it is shared spaces. Either way I’d still pay to stay here again for sure.

Beautiful home inside and out! Loved the Rimu floors and ceilings. The hosts are super hospitable and nice. They thought about everything! Their dog Ruby is very friendly also. Such a cutie.

It was worth staying here, very nice rooms. If you love classic but still modern, this is the place to be and sleep. Nice shower good beds (mattress was not too hard not to soft just perfect) I did love the classic lounge that was taking care off nice and tidy. You can have a nice walk outside. There are some funny (jersey) cows. Nice host very friendly

Very beautiful house. We could use the kitchen, dining room, living room, terrace, garden. The fridge is filled with everything you need for breakfast. And we could make our own breakfast whenever and whatever we wanted. The host is very friendly. Very relaxed and peaceful atmosphere.

The whole estate is beautiful and unique and we really enjoyed our stay. The garden is also exceptionally beautiful and we enjoyed walking around. The hosts greeted us when we arrived together with their dog Rubi and made us feel very welcome.

You need to drive to the city to have dinner as the estate is quite remote, but we didn't mind and rather enjoyed the quiet.

Everything was beyond perfect. Hosts were super and so welcoming. Will definitely be back.
