Reviewed Aug 26, 2026As a well travelled couple, Newstead Farm impressed us. The cottage was extremely well equipped, including all the basics plus beyond that some additional things we loved like a dishwasher, electric blankets, heaters and a fireplace. They included everything we needed to cook our own meals. They went above and beyond to include a whole information manual with everything you could possibly need, the history of the farm, activities (including distances and time to get there), restaurants, even including nearest doctors offices, vet, hardware store, etc.
You would not make a mistake to stay there.
The only thing I honestly didn’t like was the fact that we could hear the highway from the farm. We were hoping for a place with complete silence in that regard. But thats not the farm’s fault in any way.

Reviewed Aug 10, 2026Great location, very cosy chalet with all the amenities for a winter stay. The hosts and staff are amazing. The all round porch furniture is great. The fireplace, electric blankets and bath heater was necessary and thoughtful. The host left lots of firewood and allowed a late check out. It was a great stay.

Reviewed May 16, 2026This place is wonderful, beautiful, stunning, clean - one of the best farms I've seen.
The owner didn't say prior to the booking that in the area they had an issue with electricity (Which was true), so we can go elsewhere for vacation. So, for our night, there was no power (power only came back in the morning).

Reviewed May 13, 2026The peace and quiet, the variety of coffee, tea and rusks, the beautiful "pink room" that we stayed in........everything was just perfect, wish we could have stayed longer to explore the environment.

The water in the shower was a bit of a challenge to get to the right temperature. Water flow wasn't great.
The wifi wasn't working properly until the next morning.
We really enjoyed our stay by experiencing a farm life experience. The host provided rusks, cappuccino sachets as well as hot chocolate which was not expected. We enjoyed the countryside, quiteness, birdlife and beautiful trees ...

My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed sitting alongside the dam, listening to the sounds of nature. This place will make you long for the simple pleasures in life over the hustle and bustle of city living.

The location is great. Tranquil, and calm, but close to amenities such as the Boschoek golf course, coffee shops and restaurants. The cottage was clean, and provided a big King size bed which was a bonus.

Reviewed Mar 23, 2025The area is peaceful and quiet which is exactly what we needed for the getaway. There’s a beautiful garden with a pond and a pool if you’d like to take a dip. There’s also a tennis court on the property. Definitely value for money
The only downside, was the shower water was lukewarm, which could have just been coz the geyser wasn’t switched on , but other than that everything was amazing

We stayed in Paddock cottage with my 13 and 14 year old and they enjoyed it 💯%. It's spacious and their WiFi is fast . We had Ms Winnie welcome us and she is friendly and our cottage was spotlessly clean. It's was easy to find ,we drove from Durban.
Our cottage was intimate and very cozy.......
In the morning we had the lovely horses at our backyard,REFRESHING AND REFUELS THE MIND👏🏿

This place takes you away from technology and reconnect with a simpler time. Beautiful cottage (we stayed in the paddock cottage) with stunning views. The room was equipped with games and a stunning book about the farm and things to do in the area. Great privacy. Wish we could have stayed longer!
