Prachtige omgeving, heel mooi groen. Alleen een rustige weg tussen de homestay en de backwaters. Een hele mooie kanotocht gemaakt door de backwaters. Hele vriendelijke gastheer die écht het beste wil voor iedereen. Hij wil dat iedereen het fijn heeft. Zijn lieve vrouw maakt een heerlijke vegetarische curry en het Indiase ontbijt was ook smakelijk en meer dan voldoende. En laat ik onze 2 kamers niet vergeten. Hele fijne mooie, ruime en schone kamers. Goede bedden en zelfs een warme (hete) douche. En buiten de kamers nog fijne zitjes waardoor je ook echt buiten kan zijn tussen het groen. Wij hebben zelf nog wat rondgewandeld daar; ook echt een aanrader. Wij hebben genoten!

Nous avons habité avec Suresh et sa famille pendant 3 jours (notre 1er arrêt en Inde). Nous avons loué les 2 chambres, très propres et très fonctionnelles! Nous avons pris les petits déjeuner (version Kerala) et les dîners ici, du « homemade » par la femme de Suresh. Il y a aussi un restaurant excellent et pas très cher juste à côté. Suresh nous a proposé un tour en bateau de 3 heures dans les mangrove de Munroe Island (1500 rupees) et un autre jour un Tuktuk pour faire le tour de l’île. Bref, vous passerez ici c’est sur un séjour très immersif et vraiment « comme à la maison ». Nos filles de 16 et 13 ans ont adoré cette expérience.

Rien, si vous voulez rester longtemps c’est bien d’avoir un moyen de transport (scooter/ voiture)

This is a truly special place with impeccable hospitality with the host taking very very good care of my family and I. The breakfast was delicious every morning and he's very attentive and considerate making sure you're enjoying yourself and giving extremely generous portions. Our rooms were clean and nice and spacious. The property is also very close to the water and we were able to swim in the water and it was very clean and refreshing. Our host organised so much for us to do on the island like a backwaters canoe ride and driving us on tours of the island on his motorbike. He's a genuinely lovely person and really makes the stay special. I especially feel bad as we arrived right after someone left a bad review and bad score without even staying at the property (cancelling the booking) bringing his overall score down unjustly. Overall, if u want amazing hospitality and location and mostly to be able to relax, I can't recommend this place enough.

Excellent property and unmatched hospitality! The owner arranged a wonderful canoe tour and a rental scooty for us. The home-made breakfast was truly amazing. It was fascinating to see the owner's 250-year-old original house, which brings real heritage to the island. Peaceful, clean, and highly recommended!

What a place! Stunning location right in the river. Beautiful greenery and vibrant plants on the property. The room is perfect. New, spacious, clean, comfortable. And suresh and his wife are fantastic hosts! So so lovely and friendly and helpful. We didn’t arrive until about 1am but Suresh was up and waiting for us and wanted to feed us! The food is delicious as well. Lovely home cooked, local food. And so much of it!! Perfect Homestay.

Nous avons passé trois nuits dans cette guest house. Il s’agit d’un cinq étoiles de par l’ambiance et le soin apporté à la relation humaine. Vous serez accueilli comme un membre de la famille. Suresh prendra soin de vous. Il s’assurera que vous vous portez bien. C’est un homme d’une gentillesse immense, très touchante. Attendez-vous à avoir une présence rapprochée, comme un oncle qui vous accueille dans sa maison. Nous avons adoré la personne et la famille tout entière. Besoin d’aller chez le coiffeur ? On vous y emmène ou on vous indique la meilleure adresse. Envie de vous balader sur les canaux avec une pirogue ? Un ami de la famille viendra pour vous y emmener. Sa femme fera du bien à votre estomac, sa cuisine est absolument délicieuse et équilibrée. Les 2 chambres sont parfaites, très simples et très propres et semblent très récentes. Choisissez l’option air conditionné pour quelques roupies de plus. Considérez cette étape comme une immersion dans une famille indienne, apprenez la culture locale et vivez l’étape backwaters le matin tôt, avant la foule de touristes le soir, pleine d’authenticité. Un tour en pirogue non motorisée vous coûtera 1’500Rs. environ. Petites épiceries à 50m. pour de l’eau ou autres. Restaurant à 5min. de marche. Il y a peu de choses à visiter à Munroe Island mais il y a beaucoup à vivre. Prenez le temps, vivez à un rythme reposant. C’est l’endroit idéal, une étape authentique que vous n’oublierez jamais. Generally lovely family. Very comfortable large bed. Nice and spacious. Little table outside the door. Home cooked food. Near the temple 🛕 and across the road is the riverside for boat tours. Don't forget to say hello to hari, the pub he's super timid and needs love ❤️

There isn't a lot of privacy, and the road can be heard.

Lovely accomodation in a great location. The owner and his family welcome us and provided us with everything we needed.

Not the owners fault but there was a festival going on so loud music being played through speakers.

We had a lovely time at Suresh’s place. He went to every effort to make we sure we had a good time, and arranged competing and biking for us around the island. The food was also delicious and some of the best we’ve had in India!

A lovely family with whom to stay in a relatively new concrete bungalow across the street from the river, where the backwater canoe trip picks you up. Good sized room and bath with excellent hot water. A nice porch on which to eat excellent home-cooked meals for breakfast and dinner (dinner costs extra).

Not a lot of English spoken (wasn't a problem for us but might be for some guests). As is typical of many Indian home stays: can someone please create light switches that correspond to some logic in the room 😉

This stay was such a homely experience. When we arrived there were no tuktuks so we messaged Suresh and he drove down on his bike so we were not on our own and arranged a tuktuk for us. Suresh and his wife catered for us specifically to a vegan diet which we found to be very difficult elsewhere on the island, so we never went hungry! Room was perfect and hot water in the shower was a bonus. Also arranged a great canoe tour for us on the backwaters less than a minute walk from the property!

This is a great place to stay, it's relaxing, the hosts are awesome and the rooms are clean and comfortable. Very good value for money. Provided breakfast and dinner, lunch as well if you wanted. There was a bike you could hire for a little trek round the island, and it's a good way to get around the place. I've stayed in a lot of places in India over the last 3 months, and this was one of the best.

Nothing really, but for me it was hot, so a small fridge would have been useful to cool some drinks down. Just an idea. I enjoyed my stay there and was sad to leave Munroe Island.

We had a great stay at Munroe Heritage Inn Homestay. Simple but comfortable and clean rooms. Suresh and his family are so hospitable, kind and great fun! The food was lovely and the island itself is great. We wish we stayed longer.

Fanstastic food, Very friendly service, we felt part of the family. Suresh went above and beyond to make sure we could enjoy our stay on the island. He took us by motorbike, organised a sunrise canoe ride, kayaks and bikes for us as well as a visit to a thread making factory and rickshaws to the train station. When my son left his wallet in the room he organised a courier to have it sent on to our next destination.

Some information on the booking.com website was incorrect (eg there is no kitchenette or pool) but we have informed Suresh and he will check and update his accommodation information.

We had a great stay at Munroe Heritage Inn. The owner was very friendly and wanted to make sure that we experienced the best of Munroe Island. The home cooked meals offered are also delicious and great value. Would stay here again!

Suresh and his lovely family made us so welcome. Their homestay is very comfortable, clean and homely in a perfect position by the waterfront. The traditional Keralean natural food adequate and delicious. Unfortunately the unusual untimely  weather conditions caused by the Bay of Bengal Cyclone meant we were unable to do the sunset canoe trip. However, instead Suresh took us to visit a local church in the woods with panoramic views across the lake. He thoughtfully phoned our daughter who had personally arranged everything with Suresh and showed her where we were. The following sunrise canoe cruise was amazing, the highlight of our stay. Lasting 3 hrs along idyllic narrow backwaters to a picturesque lake quietly watching the abundant wildlife amidst lush vegetation whilst enjoying the solitude.  This homestay on Monroe Island is a MUST VISIT to this unspoilt area. Truly breathtaking.

In a great place close to the river and it is very clean. Surrounded by the beautiful garden and walking distance to eating joint - easy to navigate.

We loved our stay here. It is a true home stay in a beautiful locations, seconds away from a picture perfect river where you can admire the tranquility of the place. The host Suresh Babu is a very kind and welcoming man. He is very proud of his heritage and cannot do enough to make you feel at home. He will ensure your stay is comfortable and will cater for all your needs. His wife cooks the most amazing tasty meals, so make sure you eat at the home stay. It is fantastic value for money and would give this stay 100 if we could. I wish we could have stayed longer to take in more this tranquil location and enjoy heartfelt hospitality of the local folks. Suresh organised a memorable canoeing trip for us and helped with transport bookings. We highly recommend staying here. Thank you Suresh for being such a wonderful host.

The best and budget stay in munroe. Suresh uncle, the Homestay owner is very kind and comes in handy if anything needed. The property is in the walkable distance for any activity. I wholeheartedly recommend people to try it.

Suresh and his family were so nice and accommodating. They cooked us breakfast and dinner every day we were there which were so good. We had veg curry the first night and chicken curry the second night. Suresh also organised us a canoeing trip around the backwaters which left from a dock about 10 metres from the Homestay.

The room was spacious and the location is just opposite to the river. Homemade food was really good.

Quiet, cheap, very lovely and warm family. Feeling at home. Very good wifi as well.

Limited things to do around. So I would rather consider this as a place to chill, relax and stay rather than a place to visit things around- although there are beautiful spots to see (including the backwaters themselves), most can be seen in 2 or 3 days.

Property was very good which is located just infront of water and owner Mr.Suresh Babu was a very nice person...He didn't say no to any of the things we asked...Helped me to get an yummy cake at night 12pm in an island...Breakfast for authentic kerala breakfast which was very tasty...Thank you soo much we loved our stay at Munroe Heritage Inn...🙂

Very nice location, compact cottage with good amenities. Absolutely loved the home cooked breakfast. Water body just a few metres away, boating possible.

We stayed here for 3 nights and had a wonderful time. You are made to feel at home and the family takes great care of you. The room was beautiful, large and clean. The breakfast and tea were always delicious. The sunrise canoe tour the owner, Mr. Suresh arranged was incredible and a great price. Mr. Suresh also made sure we saw all of the best parts of Munroe Island by taking us on his motorbike. We were happy to be his second guests from the USA :) If you are coming to Munroe island you have to stay here.

Suresh was a great host. Called to check on us while we were on our way. The stay is a part of their village home. A one room standalone inside their property. Good car parking. Suresh and his wife warmly interacted and showed us inside their own home as well. Included us in the local temple festival rituals. Helped us book a boat for the backwater tour which literally started from the house itself! We could walk around the village from this location .

Feels humid indoors in March end. As the cost for the AC is separate. Some red ants outside the room but that's okay.

The host was super friendly and location was great! We loved the activities the host organized for us!

Suresh and his wife Vasatha are wonderful hosts with a wonderful and very peaceful place. It's very clean and silent, I felt very safe and the food they served me with was excellent :) also Suresh took really good of me as a solo traveller and showed me around and negotiated an amazing boat Trip for me :)

If I could give this wonderful Homestay 11 I would but 10 is the highest score. From the moment we arrived we felt absolutely welcomed , Sureesh and his wife are the most beautiful heart filled people . Their homestay is spacious, clean and tastefully decorated . It is across from the river where you can catch the afternoon breeze and watch the sunset . It very peaceful location . The fantastic local food for dinner is an extra bonus , I would recommend. Sureesh will ensure everything you need is taken care of , nothing is too much trouble . Take the early morning canoe trip that he will organise for you . It is splendid slowly gliding through the backwaters . The bird life and vegetation on Munroe Island is wonderful.

We loved every moment

One of the cleanest places we’ve stayed in India, with everything you need for a comfortable stay. The location is also wonderful opposite the river and with a lovely veranda to relax on. Suresh and his family are some of the kindest people I’ve met, ever. Suresh went out of his way to accommodate us from chosen activities, through to taking us on his motorbike around town to ensure we got a chance to see the sights without needing to pay rickshaws. Even when we had wondered from the property to go sit down at a part of the river, Suresh came to find us with Chai tea in hand as he knows how much we love it - thoughtful in every aspect.

Super clean, super fast Wifi connection and super lovely food. The host Suresh and his family all participated to help us enjoying our stay. Basant and Puja taught my wife how to wear Setmundu. On the next day we won the 1st prize for the Keralan theme fancy dress party and were very happy.

We don't mind paying extra for an air conditioner but maybe not so important unless you are sick and in need of the good rest.

Would have love to stay longer. The room is super spacious and clean. It's located in a very quiet and beautiful place. We arrived quite late and the landlord brang us on his bike to grab diner before it closes. He also cooked a very tasty breakfast and dropped us to our next destination. He's genuinely nice and make you feel at home !

Suresh and his wife made everything for me to be comfortable during my stay and I had wonderful Indian homemade breakfast made by Suresh's wife every morning!

The host Mr Suresh is very calm and humble person, will ensure the stay is perfect is all sense. Very near to the backwater. Mr Suresh helped us with canoe booking/auto booking, he made sure one does not have to think about anything during the stay. Btw his house is 250yrs old. Go for this homestay if you're looking for a genuinely homely stay during your trip to Munroe island. The host, Suresh Uncle, is a down-to-earth man who will ensure that you feel right at home. We were 2 girls traveling through Kerala and he treated us like daughters while ensuring that our stay was pleasant and smooth. He showed us around the island on his bike, which was quite fun! Suresh Uncle and his whole family are super helpful hosts who are very accommodating of their guests request. Highly recommend this place :)

The place is lush green and very quiet but very peaceful. The homemade food by suresh sir is so tatsy and good. The back water and canoeing experience was paisa vasool.

Good location on the island, the bungalow was well equipped with hot water, clean and a good size with a lovely little porch. Suresh was the perfect house, arranging a canoe tour for us and bringing us delicious home cooked food and tea. We liked it so much we stayed an extra night!

Mr Suresh, the host, is one the best humans I met. He received us as if we were long lost relatives, very welcoming. As a host he is top notch we didn't had to worry about anything from the point of reaching Munroe till leaving. He guided us on how to reach Munroe and also how to reach our next destination by spending the lowest. He arranged all the meals(home cooked) for us and it was delicious he had also arranged an island tour which was the most awesome part and that too at a nominal cost. The stay is very beautiful and the room is comfortable and it smelled nice :). I strongly recommend this stay to experience the human connection like no other.

There is nothing to not like.

The room is quite big and really nice as well as the property. The homecooked food was amazing and the hosts were very friendly and always helpful. On my arrival he picked me up from the Trainstation for free and drove me around the area with his motorcycle showing me very beautiful spots. And he arranged a boat tour through canals for the sunrise the next day which was simply stunning and a really good price. All in all an amazing experience which I would highly recommend!

It's a beautiful little place surrounded by greenery just by the river. The host and his family are amazing and will do everything to make you feel comfortable. The room is very clean and spacious. The owner also let me use his bicycle and drove me around to show places. And food is delicious!

Munroe Heritage Inn Homestay feels like home :) Suresh Chettah (term for elder brother in Malayalam) and his wife, treated us like part of family and made us feel extremely safe and comfortable for the entire duration of our visit. The property is beautiful, well maintained and has a rustic charm to it. They served us home made sumptuous meals- evening tea, dinner and breakfast, and took care of the smallest of our needs. On request, Suresh Chettah arranged for a sunrise canoe tour, an auto to the train station, and even took us around the island for site seeing. Expect only the best hospitality and comfort at Munroe Heritage Inn Homestay. Will.definitely visit again!

Personally we found Suresh to be a little intense. He is so super determined for his guests to enjoy their stay but in doing so he is a little in your face, hovering over you. Which was unnecessary due to the accommodation speaking for itself with its natural beauty.

all was good.. location is excellent, 30sec close to the river.. you can enjoy sitting besides the river all day.. food was good.. no mosquito issue.. there is only one house (with bathroom) here which gives good privacy.. 3 people can easily stay here.. owner Mr. Suresh lives right next door in an old home.. he is helpful in his capacity.. there is a swing, a garden with many trees and flower plants.. soft water in the bathroom.. dont expect super luxury.. it is a homestay with basic amenities.. if you need something specific call the owner beforehand.. there is no TV or AC and it should never be there.. boating was arranged in the morning with fair charges.. our experience was surreal.. highly recommended to do the non mechanical canoe boating.. be amazed with nature.. PS: dont waste money on shikara/bigger boats/machine boats

avoid summers as it gets very hot in the entire region.. plan your trip from sep-feb.. there is only 1 atm in the region.. carry some cash..

Suresh sir will go out of his way to make sure your stay is perfect in every sense. Island exploration and the sunset canoe ride was exceptional.
