Freedom Home Stay

The home was beautiful and in a good location. During our first night of stay, it was raining and it was looking so good! On the second day, we saw many monkeys. The breakfast was amazing! Maybe the most professional we've had so far in our journey. The owner was really helpful and friendly. On our departure day, we requested to keep our bags at her home after check out so we could go sight seeing and then come back to collect the bags to move to the next location, and they helped us out. It was a good stay there.

There were too many bugs at night so we couldn't keep our lights on in the evening. It's a natural thing so I understand, but as it's a regular issue, they should have put something to cover the bottom of the door. Cause even when the doors were closed, if we turned on the lights, the bugs were coming into the rooms. And as there were too many bugs, I think they should have provided a quick clean up service on our second day of stay. Maybe if we requested, they wouldn't deny it but we just thought maybe they'll eventually do it when they get some time. The washroom could have been a bit better as during our stay, the draining was clogged. These are not deal breakers at all. I believe all such small issues can be solved on requests but we were just too shy to ask for many things.

I had a great stay here. The family was very kind and welcoming, the room was clean and comfortable, and the location was very convenient. The breakfast was also excellent.

Abbiamo soggiornato per 3 notti in questo alloggio. Un accogliente patio in cui riposarsi dopo le gite in giornata e i faticosi trekking è stato il nostro posto preferito, la colazione abbondante e gustosa servita ogni mattina con piatti locali e frutta squisita, i tanti localini a un passo dalla casetta per potere cenare potendosi spostare a piedi.

La casa purtroppo non era molto pulita, e il bagno un po' angusto e poco illuminato.

I stayed here for three nights, and it was fantastic! The place is highly affordable, and absolutely clean. I have easily paid four times more elsewhere and received no better quality. I had the best night's sleep here because it is located on a quiet little street with zero traffic at night. The staff are incredibly sweet and warm. The entire family is ready to help and can arrange wonderful tours for you at a very fair price. The breakfasit is delicious and the portions are so big that I packed half of it for lunch!

Kousek od autobusové zastavky..Pokoj velký,čistý,posezení venku velmi příjemné,poslouchat zvuky džungle.Teplou vodu jsme bohužel měly jen jednou ale v teple to az tak nevadí. Paní domácí dělá nejlepší domácí marmeládu na Sri lance kterou si můžete koupit.Je i velmi starostliva-na naše trable se zažíváním které jsem dostaly asi z příliš mastného jídla ve městě nám přinesla místní léky na trávení.Velmi milé. Pokud navštívím Sigirii ubývají se znovu.Dekujeme za pobyt.

Todo!! La familia, la atención, el cariño con el que te tratan. Hice con ellas una clase de cocina y me lo pasé genial. Todo lo hicimos a mano… una experiencia de 10. La ubicación muy buena. El desayuno abundante y muy bueno. La mejor mermelada casera de piña que he comido.

Owners of the place is super nice. They were really helpful, room was simple but really comfy. After staying in hostels having calm stay was amazing. Having a private table out side to room was really good. After it gets dark due to elephant attacked risk i spent most my evenings there.

I like this place! The room is simple but comfortable, with a cozy yard and a good desk for working on the terrace. The host is welcoming, and the breakfast is delicious. It’s also not far from the village center, with shops and restaurants nearby.

Clean, cozy, quiet! Loved my stay here, if I had the time I would’ve extended. Perfect location for walking or very cheap tuk tuks available !! Really lovely family run the Homestay and provided the most delicious and filling breakfast. Food at their restaurant was also very yummy! They also provided me transport to Kandy at a very reasonable price. Would absolutely stay again. They also had very adorable pups!

I spent two nights at this guesthouse and had a very comfortable stay. The room was basic, but it was clean, spacious, and the AC worked perfectly. The atmosphere felt peaceful and relaxing, especially in the mornings and evenings. The staff were also very friendly, and I think this would even be a great place for a longer stay. Getting there was easy. I took a local bus from Dambulla to Sigiriya, and the bus stopped nearby. From there, it was just a short and easy walk to the property. The guesthouse also has its own restaurant serving tasty local dishes at reasonable prices. In addition, there are several other shops and restaurants in the neighborhood, so you have everything you need without feeling isolated. On my second day, I spent the entire day exploring Sigiriya Rock and the Dambulla Cave Temple. Before departing on my third day, I took a peaceful walk around the lake area behind the guesthouse. I only wish I could have stayed one more night so I could experience even more of Sigiriya.

Freedom Homestay was the perfect place for our time in Sigiriya. Located on a little quiet road but a very short (5mins) walk to restaurants and more. We were able to organise tuks tuks with the owners to take us to Sigiriya + Pidurangala to catch sunrise. The cooking class was also amazing that the homestay offers as apart of their restaurant.

Clean, comfortable, air conditioned, good breakfast, owner was lovely.

Grande chambre agréable dans un jardin, excellent accueil, à 5 minutes en tuk tuk des monuments de Sigiriya. Possibilité de louer sur place des tuk tuk ou des taxis pour des excursions dans la région.

部屋が綺麗。ポットもあって、部屋の前の庭でのんびり紅茶飲んで過ごすのに良い。シーギリヤロックも徒歩20分弱。オーナーも親切で常に気にかけてくれていた。ピドゥランガラロックに朝日を見に行くのにトゥクトゥクの手配、ポロンナルワへはタクシーの手配をしてもらった。

Wi-Fiが今一つ。無制限でないようで、動画等見ているときれてしまった。

部屋の中はWi-Fiもなく、電波も繋がらなかったので少し不便でした。フォレストエリアなのでしょうがないかとも思います。

とにかくオーナー家族の皆さんがとても優しく素敵でした。 スムーズに会話できないこともありましたが、素敵な笑顔とおもてなしでとても心地よかったです。

Wi-fiの繋がりがあまり良くなかったす。 2月でも蚊が多かったので、虫除けスプレーは必須だと思いました。

オーナーの方々が本当に優しかったです。ブッキングの段階で、こちら側のミスで宿泊日程を間違えてしまったのですが、快く再予約の手続きをしてくださいました。着いてからも、プランの相談に乗ってくださり、追加料金を支払えば、そのままシギリヤロックをはじめとする、様々な観光地に送迎もしてくださいました。湖など、知らない場所にもたくさん連れて行ってくれました。充実したステイでした。次にきたらもっと滞在してね、と最後に言ってもらったり、シギリヤにおける、第二の家みたいに感じられました。

The accommodation comprised a cute bungalow in a garden/jungle setting but only 5 minutes walk from Sigiriya village. A lovely chilled vibe... The room was clean and the bed comfortable with mosquito net, basic bathroom but with decent shower. Tea and coffee making facilities were provided in the room.and the WiFi was fine. Breakfast was Sri Lankan - plenty of food and fruit. Breakfast was outside on the patio of the owners house next door. Very nice. There is seating outside the bungalow with outside light. We bought a mosquito coil from a local shop which worked really well The property is surrounded by restaurants - we went to all 4 of the closest, the Hot Food restaurant next door is owned by the same family. The host family were a lovely couple, Medu and Nishanti. Always on hand to help, service with a smile every day. And they will organise/Medu will take you to all local sights and even further e.g. to the wonderful caves of Dambulla (Medu has a tuk-tuk and a car) and Polonnaruwa. He can organise a safari too. Would definitely recommend this host.

The family couldn’t do enough for you. The were wonderful. The rooms were clean and the bed was comfy. Good air con or fan your choice which to use. The families restaurant, next door, had excellent food. They organised an excellent tour at a very good price and also a taxi to our next destination.

Everything about the stay, great place, nice breakfast, private room at a good price, clean, tidy. Everything worked great AC & hot water. Very happy to have stayed 1-night at Freedom Home Stay.

Sometimes the WiFi dropped out/low connection.

Large, comfortable room and huge bed with both air conditioning and a fan, plus en-suite bathroom. Excellent location just a few minutes walk from the main Sigiriya 'town' and plenty of shops/eateries. Also walkable to both the main entrance and exit of Sigiriya site within about 30 minutes. Nice detail of a kettle and tea/coffee for when I arrived. The included breakfast was delicious is served in the host's actual home which is a separate building from the accommodation but very close. Host very responsive via Whatsapp and arranged a tuktuk for me at a competitive price for a morning climb to Pidurangala.

I did not have hot water in my shower for the duration of my two night stay, and host did not rush to fix it. Not the worst thing as the climate is very humid but I was expecting hot water.

The family is so so nice!! They were very welcoming, and also provided a cooking class which was amazing. I really got to know them better and got to know more about the culture and ofcourse how they cook. The food was amazing and btw also at their restaurant the food is very good! The room was clean and exactly as in the photos. There was a mosquito net which was needed but with the net I could sleep like a baby. For this price It was a good quality stay and really nice environment.

When I was there, there were a lot of mosquitoes as well. I know they are everywhere and with te mosquito net, it's fine. And I was there in the weekend and I think the neighbors where doing karaoke, so that was a bit disturbing for me when I was trying to sleep.

The environment is nice. The ladies are making an amazing breakfast. Providing cooking class and help you arrange your trip to your next destination. I felt very comfortable here and actually at home. The room is clean and big. Bathroom is fine. For this price it's really really good.

Voto 10 e + per tutto tranne per la camera che aveva un odore persistente di umidità/muffa e in bagno ci sono fessure nel muro per l’aerazione ma senza zanzariera quindi ci erano zanzare in camera e bagno

Host is amazing. Sorted everything for us at reasonable prices. Safari, tuks for sunrise and sunset. Help with taxi to get there. Room is basic but all you need for the time you are there.

Stabilität des Bettes (Lattenrost waren nur lose Bretter) - aber Dank der guten Matratze gut geschlafen. Wifi war nicht gut - kann aber auch am schlechten Wetter gelegen haben.

Tuvimos una casita para nosotros con una terraza muy bonita y muy acogedora. La dueña muy agradable y buena mujer. Tienen un restaurante también y cocina muy rico.

Super séjour dans cette homestay, nous ne sommes resté qu'une nuit mais la chambre était très propre et très confortable ! La climatisation est également très appréciable par forte chaleur. Et pour finir, le petit déjeuner était très bon et copieux !!

Die Host war sehr freundlich, das Zimmer war groß und hatte eine tolle Terrasse in den schönen Garten. Das Frühstück war okay. Guter Ausgangspunkt für Lion Rock, zum Pudurangala Rock braucht man ein tuktuk.

Internet ist schwach, wie vielerorts.

Todo. Además en frente hay un pequeño restaurante de la hermana de la propietaria y la comida es local, casera y deliciosa. Los desayunos son increíbles, desayuno típico de Sri Lanka. El marido tiene un tuk tuk que te facilita mucho el transporte hacia los puntos de interés y a precios razonables. La ubicación es maravillosa , en la naturaleza, tranquilo pero a la vez muy cerca de todo. Puedes ir andando al Lion's Rock. Los propietarios del alojamiento y del restaurante HOT FOOD son muy cercanos y muy buena gente.

Sweetest, warmest family with an incredible breakfast. The husband has a tuk tuk and will take you to Sigirya or Pidurangula for a great price. Hot water shower even in the evening. The bed was incredibly comfortable and you could tell everything in the room was clean enough to operate in. Loved my stay here. Value for money is unheard of. Perfect location with the best restaurant in a few doors down.

Mosquito net was a bit too small for the bed. The area is in the jungle so I really preferred to use it but the net did not manage to surround the bed and kind of just laid on top in some areas. Restaurant across the street was playing music (not too loud but still a bit of a nuisance) but they stopped at around 10:00pm. These were very minor concerns I would stay here again and again. HIGHLY recommend - 10/10.

We loved the hostess as she was very welcoming even though we surprised her by a very early check-in so we could climb the rock. Even made us a welcome drink... She organised a saffari that was well underpriced in relation to others around, and the driver was wonderful and very patient with us. The place is what is says on a tin simply but perfect near town and has an amazing breakfast...

Abbiamo anche mangiato nel loro ristorante di fronte ed era tutto eccezionale davvero squisito e con un ottimo rapporto qualità-prezzo! La gestione è familiare, non devi davvero pensare a nulla solo rilassarti e goderti le meraviglie di questa zona. Abbiamo usufruito anche della gentilezza del marito che ci ha guidato con il tuk tuk a sigirya, dambulla. ci hanno prenotato il safari al Minneriya National Park, è andato tutto bene, puntuali e ben organizzati.

I enjoyed it all. The location, the host and the accommodation. The location is located within walking distance to the foreigners entrance to Sigiriya Rock. just look out for the odd elephant if it's around 6.30 am. Lots of restaurants are nearby, as well as the bus into Dambulla.. The host- lovely, welcoming lady. Her husband is a tuk tuk driver, so they can organise things if need be. Breakfast is served in her house in the morning. You just walk over, and the plates are all laid out ready, and she will bring you breakfast. There is also a restaurant next door, which is new, owned by the family. I had a meal and beer there, and it was good. The accomodation itself. Lovely and clean. Nice outdoor sitting space. The people in Sigiriya were so lovely. Great town.

Die Familie ist sehr bemüht und kümmert sich toll um die Gäste. Vor der Tür hatten wir Sitzmöglichkeiten, was man bei dem günstigen Preis selten hat. Insgesamt das beste Preis-Leistungsverhältnis, was wir auf unserer Reise hatten. Über die Familie kann man auch TukTuk-Fahrten (z.B. zum Pidurangala) oder Safaris buchen - ohne dass sie dabei aufdringlich sind. Neben der Unterkunft befindet sich ein Restaurant, was ebenfalls zur Familie gehört - das Essen war sehr lecker, besonders das Curry können wir empfehlen.
