La verdad que un sitio de lo más agradable para dormir. El desayuno una pasada... Una cantidad de comida increíble y todo hecho por ellos, nada industrial. Volvería 100%

El trato de los dueños es excepcional, muy bueno. Siempre atentos a todo. Nos reservaron el Safari de día completo a muy buen precio y se levantaron temprano para asegurarse de que nos recogían a la hora acordada. Además la dueña nos preparó una cena exquisita al no desayunar en el alojamiento ese día por el safari.

Everything!! If you are going to Yala and on Safari, stay at Yala Southern Homestay. From the moment we arrived, to the moment we left, we were welcomed and thoroughly taken care of. Our hosts were absolutely wonderful, arranging the two safaris, packing us breakfast both days, getting up to see us leave safely (at 4.30 and 5.30 am respectively), met us off the 4x4 when we returned back, and cooking us dinner because it would have been too late to go out. DO NOT MISS THE SAFARIS - WHAT AN EXPERIENCE - BUT LET THE HOSTS BOOK THEM ONCE YOU ARE AT THE PROPERTY. On the day we were leaving, breakfast was a banquet!! Wow, it was absolutely amazing. Nothing was too much trouble for them. We wanted to go out, so they arranged tuk tuks for us to go to the lake to see the thousands of giant fruit bats (a ten minute ride) and also to a restaurant for dinner. They even did our washing and ironing (for a small fee) I cannot say enough about this wonderful couple and Yala Southern Homestay. It was brilliant

The hosts are the best! The kindest people you will ever meet. Very accommodating, they helped book our 2 full safari days in Yala National Park which were great & good value for money. The breakfast was amazing! We also ate dinner twice at the homestay after our safari tours which were delicious & at a good price. They even provided a takeaway breakfast for the safari days even though the safari tour included breakfast. They’ll give you coffee/tea before you leave for your tour too. Comfortable bed with AC & hot water. We used their bicycles free of charge to cycle to town & the nearby lake to watch the flying foxes & go out for dinner (which they also recommended us to do). They also helped with organising a taxi transfer from our previous location at a good price & provided recommendations of transport options for our onward travels. Spacious balcony outside the room with table & chairs. Beautiful garden with banana & mango trees. And they even have pet fish & a cute young german shepherd! A wonderful homestay for great value for money, would recommend!

The room doesn’t seem very well maintained despite the good space. There was damp / mould on the ceiling in the bathroom & when it rained heavily, our bedroom ceiling leaked slightly. There’s also not much lighting in the bathroom. But the hosts were very apologetic & provided towels to dry the floor from the leak. We didn’t mind these things as the property is great value for money & the hosts are amazing. The stay was still comfortable, but worth noting.

Everything was absolutely perfect! The property was immaculate and the hosts were so sweet and hospitable. We booked the safari through them and we had and ended up being cheaper than anywhere else. Our host woke up super early to pack us breakfast to bring to the safari too and it was delicious! Felt like being part of the family and we wish we stayed longer! We will definitely be back! Thank you for making our stay memorable! Ps: they have a big dog called Tobby which is soo cute and friendly.

We stayed at Yala Southern Homestay for one night (BB) in February 2026, and it was the highlight of our trip. The property is beautiful and the rooms were sparkling clean, but what really makes this place special is the hosts. Their hospitality is top-notch! The Safari: The hosts arranged everything for us. It was perfectly timed—we reached the safari gate around 3:00 PM . We were able to spot crocodiles, a variety of birds, and the famous Yala elephants! Will visit again for the leopards as it was not our lucky day. The Food: Breakfast was absolutely "yum" and delicious—the perfect way to refuel. If you're looking for a personal touch and a stress-free safari, I highly recommend this stay. We will definitely be back!

Good place to stay if you're doing safaris in Yala. Hosts are very welcoming and prepared amazing breakfast and dinner. Room was comfortable and had all the required amenities.

There are a lot of mosquitoes, don't leave the door open at dawn or dusk! The Yala guide that was booked for us was not very good unfortunately. Apparently, the person who usually picks up the tourists was unavailable during our stay and another family member was sent instead. Consider booking a safari driver elsewhere.

The breakfast was SO GOOD. The best Sri Lankan breakfast we have had so far. The owners are very friendly, as is their GIANT dog. The room itself is pretty typical. Nice and clean and comfortable. The cost for a night was a great value.

we had a great time staying here at this small but welcoming place for 3 nights as we went to both bundala and yala national park. The hosts organized the safari for us as well as the transport on our last day to the next accommodation we went to which was really comfortable for us. On both of the days we did the safari we were given delicious breakfast sandwiches with fruit and on our last day we got served a beautiful authentic sri lankan breakfast which was lovely! Это были самы милые и гостеприимные хозяева, которых я только встречала! Угостили соком, обедом с дороги. Когда мы сказали, что идем в центр, хозяйка предложила зонтик (было палящее солнце). Вечером заказала фреш ананасовый - хозяин специально поехал за ананасом, так как не было на тот момент. Двор - ухоженный, зеленый. Рыбки в аквариуме, чудная овчарка Тоби и кролик Банни добавляли атмосферы. Комната чистая, было все, что нужно. Горячая вода тоже. Центр Тиссы - около двух километров. Там же озеро, по которому обязательно стоит прокатиться на моторной лодке - множество разнообразных птиц, в зарослях - крокодил. Это все было волшебно!

Yala Southern Homestay is run by the loveliest couple you could wish for. From the moment we arrived, they did everything they could to make us feel at home. They are incredibly kind and helpful. It truly felt like coming home. The accommodation is simple but very clean and comfortable. Our room had a nice shower and everything we needed. The kids loved the garden and the rabbit. Breakfast was an absolute highlight: generous, with delicious local dishes and fresh fruit, partly from their own garden. We also had a delicious dinner at the homestay prepared by the hostess after our safari. We arranged the full-day safari through the hostess as well, and it was perfectly organized. All in all, this was a wonderful experience. We highly recommend this homestay to anyone looking for a warm, personal, and authentic place to stay.

Everything was good with the stay, the staff were awesome with us, I highly recommend them.

I would suggest them not recommending the driver that took us to the Yala park, he was very reckless and drives very dangerously.

The family is very friendly and try to make us very comfortable in all respects. We are team of 8 people and we all enjoyed our stay there.

Mosquitoes in the evening time in this area are causing little uncomfortable. But rest of the areas, everything thing far exceeded our expectations. M

Best homestay experience ever!! The rooms are clean and comfortable with AC and a fan, the place is stunningly beautiful with all those plants and trees in the garden and the owners are very very friendly and welcoming. They served us breakfast and dinner you could die for, all cooked by the owner herself. They also organized a full day safari tour in Yala Nationalpark for us for a very good price and with the best guide you can get. We just had such a blast! Highly recommend, do yourself a favor and choose to stay at Yala Southern Homestay!

Perfect stay if you want to do the Yala safari. The place is decent and clean and the host was very friendly and helpful. I would suggest booking the safari to Yala Park via them as well. They provide a better price than what is offered online, as they know best where to book it. They even provided a breakfast package for the safari trip as well.

The owners were so helpful and they adapted everything for the safari. Plus they allowed us to get some showers after it.

Very good place to stay, property is full of trees and plants giving the feeling of resort. The place was cool amidst hot weather of yala. Uncle and aunty were very sweet when they took extra care of my daughter to make sure we were comfortable including providing masks for yala safari Pls check with them for booking yala safari jeep, they can surely arrange at better cost. A lot of fruits provided for breakfast are grown there only. Bunny and dog made friends with my daughter quickly.

Maybe something can be done for flies and one large bed and two small beds in that room was little tight.

The hosts were absolutely lovely. They made us feel welcomed, showed us around their garden, and introduced us to their adorable pets. They organized transport for us including hiring a tuk tuk which was great fun to tour independently. The location is idyllic, quiet and cool and a short distance to various sites of interest. We did a very early safari and our host got up early to pack us breakfast and serve hot tea before we got into our transport. The room was small and simple but did what we needed. Great value for the price. Wish we had stayed here longer to experience more of the Sri Lankan way of life in a smaller village.

The owners are one of the nicest people I’ve met in Sri Lanka! They helped us organise a safari trip very last minute, because our jeep didn’t arrive. We got delicious breakfast that was prepared with respect to our food restrictions. Spacious room with AC. Great outside looking. Good value for money.

The homestay is located in a beautiful garden. The room was spacious and clean. The hosts are the nicest people. They organized the safari and the private car to Ella for us. Homecooked breakfast and dinner were absolutely delicious and among the best food we had in Sri Lanka. Also we could try the fruit from the garden. Highly recommended!

The most amazing hosts with a lovely garden! So hospitable who even woke up for our morning safari to cook our breakfast (which was very appreciated as the breakfast on the safari was super late) rooms were comfortable with good aircon and clean. Breakfast post safari was unreal

A very quiet location with clean and fragrant rooms, a beautifully arranged breakfast and some patrons who welcomed us very well. I also wanted to say hello to Bunny, the house's white rabbit who roams freely around the yard.

Hot shower pressure would be the only problem

The people who run the homestay are so lovely and accommodating. They allowed our late arrival from Colombo and greeted us with drinks. The breakfast is traditional and rather too much for us! The owner did her best to please our sons. We also ate here in the evening; a very nice curry banquet. The property is close to shops but very quiet and peaceful. Lovely to wake up to the birds singing. We stayed here as our next stop was Yala which we had already booked. It is possible to organise safaris with the Homestay. We went to Bungala bird sanctuary in a jeep. This was an excellent start to our Sri Lanka holiday. A very helpful driver who spotted so many things. A definite must if you are a bird watcher.

There was nothing we didn’t like. The accommodation is basic but excellent value for money and comfortable.
