Reviewed Sep 2, 2026The room had a great view of an antique church, which made the mornings really nice, especially since I was doing the Camino de Santiago, and it did provide a certain level of harmony. That being said, the room was also located at the top of the building, meaning it was super fresh at night and had lots of wind current to keep me from getting too warm. In addition, the room was also next to the bathroom, which made it even better.
The beds could have been a bit more comfortable; the mattresses were a bit too hard for my liking, but that is my opinion, since other people might prefer a stiffer mattress at night. The water was also a bit too cold when showering.

Reviewed Aug 24, 2026Det var rent og sentralt. Lett å komme seg til alle severdighetene til fots. Det er et forholdsvis rolig nabolag. Viktig å dele at dette føles ikke som et reelt guesthouse, mer som en airbnb i en leilighet. Deler ett bad med inntil 3 andre rom. Det var kun en person per rom da jeg var der og det var aldri kø ved badet. Prisen var den høyeste jeg har betalt på hele min tur i Porto og omegn. Det kan nok være av ulike årsaker, men ikke noe annet som var rimeligere i området heller. Så etterspørselen er nok mye høyere enn tilbudet. Mange pilegrimer som har denne byen som stoppested når de går caminoen. Verten var veldig hyggelig, frokosten er enkel og er self service: ost,syltetøy, brød og kaffe. Men det er cafeer rett ved siden av som serverer mye forskjellig om man ønsker en litt mer spennende frokost.

1. We paid for breakfast included - the host told us it was « self-service », it basically consisted of old bread, and low costs super-market ham and cheese. The pack of cereals was empty. It’s a shame to call this a breakfast. At least have the decency to put it in a plate to make it look a bit better. 2. When we arrived, the bathroom hadn’t been cleaned. There was hair in the shower and on the bathroom floor. 3. The rooms are quite noisy. It’s basically bedrooms in an apartments, nothing like other hostels we visited. It’s super noisy, we can hear people coughing and talking. Also the rooms are equipped with a door with a window, letting all the light come when someone open the light in the common areas.

El apartamento está súper bien situado: al llegar a Viana do Castelo, en solo 5 minutos ya estaba en la habitación, algo que se agradece muchísimo después de una larga caminata. Todo estaba impecable, muy limpio, y la atención por parte de los anfitriones fue de diez, siempre muy atentos. Además, el detalle de ofrecer desayuno es un gran plus para empezar el día con energía. Repetiría sin duda.

The shower had great water pressure, and the cozy kitchen was well-equipped, with some complimentary breakfast items. The view from my room was a gorgeous old church. So lovely! The best part was Alex himself. He is genuinely kind and friendly, and he takes the time to share helpful information about his place and the city. He made me feel very welcome and home! I truly enjoyed every moment of my stay and will definitely come back. Thank you so much, Alex!

Wir können die Unterkunft leider nicht empfehlen. Die Zimmer sind sehr einfach gehalten und alt, sodass die Fenster nachts laut klappern. Das Gemeinschaftsbad ist nicht wirklich sauber, da andere Gäste oftmals die Toilette nicht abspülen. Besonders enttäuscht waren wir von dem Frühstück. „Frühstück inklusive“ bedeutet im Prinzip, sich einfach in der Küche zu bedienen und selbst ein Frühstück zuzubereiten. Der Kühlschrank war schmutzig, das Obst teilweise verschimmelt, Gläser mit Aufstrich schon längst leer und das Brot nach ein paar Tagen so hart, dass wir lieber unser eigenes gegessen haben.

The place had good reviews, but I think possibly by men. The photos suggest it is a beautiful tiled house, it is actually an apartment above a shop, opposite the house in the pictures. The apartment is 3 flights up in a dark stairwell until the owner remembered to swith on the light. . The room was exceptionally basic, but clean. Clearly an air bnb, the owner lives there, but you should be told this as you are in very close proximity. The man was friendly enough but I felt extremely uncomfortable once I had realised the situation as a woman travelling alone, with a bad knee!! ( stairs) I made excuses and left, thankfully I hadn't paid. A truer picture of the accommodation should be given; it may suit some!

Reviewed Dec 22, 2025I didn't like anything, hard to find the place, the tube was disgusting and looked black somehow, when I booked the guest room said that had breakfast included which was not, we had to prepare our own. So I would never tell anyone else to go there. I felt like I wasted my money. When you put pictures of it, you have to be careful and honest.
What I like was that I saw my family in Viana do Castelo.

Café da manhã bom, pedimos ovos e ele nos atendeu. Nós mesmo preparávamos a nossa refeição. Deixou abastecido. Cidade linda! E ainda está toda iluminada pro Natal Amamos esta cidade!
Só não gostamos da ducha de banho, água sai um poço fraca, demora a esquentar e depois ela esfria antes de acabar o banho.
