The most incredible views in Ella- you can see monkeys swinging from the trees and the train go by! The room is very comfortable with great wifi. Excellent breakfast and very friendly staff. Would highly recommend staying here for the balcony experience, as long as you don’t mind being a tuktuk away from town and the building being very rustic and isolated.

La vue est magnifique. Et la chambre extrêmement confortable ! Salle de bain au top, avec de l’eau chaude rapide (rare au Sri Lanka). L’hôtel est à 30 mins à pied du centre ville, nous avons trouvé ça idéal (moins bruit, plus de nature, plus d’authenticité). La route permet même de voir des singes 🤩 Le petit dej est exceptionnel, complet, bon, parfait !

La chambre est bien mais il n’y a que la chambre (pas de réel établissement a la mi août 2026).

A 10 minuti dal centro città e non c’è la possibilità di prendere un Tuktuk da PickMe( ho scoperto poi che ad Ella c’è la “mafia” dei Tuktuk locali con i turisti) Inizialmente avevamo preso la camera senza vista, era veramente piccola. Con 30$ abbiamo fatto upgrade della stanza Non lasciate le cose sul terrazzo perché le scimmie ci hanno preso alcuni indumenti

The building is a having building work above and next door at the moment which detracts from the beauty but the view is to die for! I assume it will only make it better in the long run.

Miejsce że wspaniałym widokiem, pyszna kuchnia i przemiłymi gospodarzami. Nocleg jest oddalony od centrum, więc można iść pieszo lub zamówić tuktuka (wlasciciele załatwią w dobrej cenie). PickMe słabo działa w Ella, więc warto korzystać z ich zaufanych kierowców. Sam pokój czysty, że wspaniałym balkonem (widok!). Jedliśmy tu najpyszniejsze i najbardziej zróżnicowane śniadania. W okolicy kilka knajpek, sklep, 40 min pieszo do plantacji herbaty. Bardzo udany pobyt. Zaznasz tu ciszy i spokoju, zupełnie inna atmosfera (lepsza!) niż w centrum.

Amazing place to stay at. Waking up with the sunrise behind the mountains is well worth it. They also helped us with lots of information about the things to do. We also did a cooking class, which was amazing. Suresh is an excellent cook who really has lots of knowledge. Which he translates in delicious meals. We highly recommend this place!

The view from the room is incredible, especially in the morning. The staff were helpful and friendly, the breakfast they made was the best we’ve had, with lots of local dishes to try.

Perfect place to stay in Ella, lovely room, brilliant views and friendly staff.

Everything was very nice, we have already been here and the view and staff are completely kind and very helpful they always try to listen you, just be careful, they are building higher floors newly, so sometimes you will be disturbed by some construction work, but it is a price to pay for the fact that soon there will be more rooms with hot water and an absolutely amazing view and perfect breakfast!

Occasional noise around from constant building and rebuilding around, the concurrence doesn't sleep and tries to expand but the place is amazing and peaceful! Unfortunately, the mobile internet was failing and sometimes even home WiFi was not enough for so many users at same time.

Badkamer en wc zitten apart van de kamer. Daardoor moet je ‘s nachts toch de kamer uit en de gang op. Dat was vooraf niet bekend. Daarnaast is het uitzicht (van onze kamer) totaal niet zoals op de foto’s. Sterker nog. Er was letterlijk geen uitzicht.

A peaceful retreat near Ella with stunning views and exceptional hospitality. Our room was spacious, with a large private bathroom and a beautiful balcony overlooking the hills — the perfect spot to watch the sunrise. The atmosphere was calm and comfortable, and the Wi-Fi was stable and reliable, ideal for staying connected or light work. There are even some friendly monkeys roaming the area nearby. Breakfasts were wonderful, and we also enjoyed excellent traditional meals from Suresh’s vegetarian restaurant in the same building, who took great care of us throughout our stay. Meals are served on a lovely terrace with fantastic daytime views, making the experience even more enjoyable. The owners were incredibly kind and attentive — after check-out, they warmly let us stay in the common area and even offered us a snack while we waited for our train, which made us feel truly at home. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a calm, scenic stay near Ella with great food and heartfelt hospitality.

La struttura è un po' scomoda da raggiungere ma una volta in camera si apre un panorama magnifico davanti agli occhi! Alzarsi dal letto e avere davanti l'alba, il verde e la natura, non ha prezzo! Lo chef ci ha preparato delle ottime colazioni e ci ha chiesto se volevamo fare lezione di cucina :) ci ha anche accompagnate in centro col tuk tuk! Grazie!

La gentillesse et serviabilité des hôtes . Ils ont un scooter qu’on peut louer , un tuktuk pour les trajets vers la gare ou le bus , on peut manger sur place , le petit déjeuner et toute la carte qu’ils proposent sont excellents. Suresh cuisine très bien ! Il peut donner des cours de cuisine aussi avec sa femme ! Son fils fait de beaux tours de magie avec ses cartes . Et Pappi est un bon chien ! Au cœur de cette famille pendant quelques jours c’était formidable. Ils peuvent aussi vous conseiller sur les randonnées !

Le seul bémol c’est l’isolation du bruit et lumière dans la chambre. Ça peut gêner certaines personnes. La porte d’entrée de la chambre possède des vitres opaques . Donc tard le soir si d’autres guest arrivent vous pouvez voir la lumière de la pièce principale et les entendre. La fenêtre qui donne sur la terrasse n’a pas de double vitrage, donc on entend tous les oiseaux le matin tôt et le soleil se lève en face , même si les rideaux sont opaques , ils laissent tout de même rentrer la lumière. La lumière ne m’a pas dérangé , mais le bruit d’un oiseau en particulier oui c’est un détail!

L’hotel és molt confortable, net i amb unes vistes espectaculars des de l’habitació. La terrassa privada que tenen les habitacions i la netedat de tots els espais de l’hotel fan que l’experiència sigui molt positiva. L’esmorzar que ens han preparat també era molt bo. Veure sortir el sol des del llit rere les muntanyes ha sigut màgic.

Queda un mica allunyat del centre de Ella , però a pocs minuts en tuk tuk. Les vistes compensen. Pel preu que hem pagat no tinc cap queixa

Ajith went above and beyond to make our stay as pleasant as possible in every way. We felt home. The breakfast was very appetising. The room has a balcony with a beautiful view. Will definitely book again.

The steps down to the accommodation were a little steep.

Wij hadden als gezin van 4 personen 2 kamers geboekt. Beide met balkon en prachtig uitzicht op de bergen. De kamers zijn ruim. De accommodatie is wat hoger gelegen; het is ca 20 minuten (naar beneden) lopen naar het levendige deel van Ella en iets langer dan een half uur terug omhoog. Een prima wandeling. Een ritje met tuk tuk kan ook. Vanaf Daban Homestay kun je de route oppakken naar Ella Rock; mooie hike. Ook zijn wij (in het donker, voor zonsopkomst) naar Little Adams Peak gewandeld vanaf de accommodatie. Beide aanraders om te doen. Aan de andere kant van de weg kun je de allerleukste kookcursus volgen bij Bella.

Soggiorno piacevole al Daban Homestay. I proprietari sono gentilissimi e disponibili, ci hanno anche organizzato il pick up con il tuk tuk. Colazione e cena ottime, posizione tranquilla e rilassante, con vista magnifica sulle colline.

La camera era un po' "datata" e le finestre, del bagno e della camera stessa non si chiudevano correttamente. Qualità prezzo a mio parere troppo caro

The mattress was a bit hard and we had the bathroom separated from the room, it is not the most practical but everything was spotless so it was not really an issue

Bardzo fajny hotel ze wspaniałymi śniadaniami. Pokój mały, ale wystarczający z dostępem do własnego pięknego tarasu z cudownym widokiem. Bardzo miły i pomocny właściciel. Do dyspozycji skutery do wypożyczenia za jedyne $8 za dzień! Świetna lokalizacja, z dala od zgiełku centrum Elli jednak na tyle blisko, że bez probelmu można dojść tam piechotą.

The view was good, the place was clean, and the room arrangement was nice.

This is my 8th time in Ella, and unfortunately, the experience this time was not so good. I believe the main issue lies with local tourism standards. The environment itself is fine, but the photos online are a bit misleading. The arrival was not welcoming, and there was no proper parking space for guests yet the owner’s vehicle was conveniently parked. 😄 I spent 30 dollars for my stay, but there was no hot water and only a small piece of soap provided. I had to request tea in the morning, which I had to pay for separately, and there wasn’t even a complimentary bottle of water in the room. I can’t help but feel this treatment was because I am Sri Lankan. On booking.lk, the check-out time was listed as 11:30 a.m. The owner asked me what time I would be leaving, and I replied around 10:30, but reminded him that my check-out time was 11:30. He insisted the check-out time was 11:00 instead, and then said a couple was arriving at 12:00, so he needed the room earlier which is not my responsibility as a paying guest. Overall, my message is: Don’t treat local tourists differently. We spend just as much as foreign visitors. Hospitality should be for everyone.

La bellissima vista dalla camera e della postazione della colazione. Il punto forte della struttura sono le persone che grazie alla loro gentilezza e al loro sorriso riescono a farti sentire a casa. Il cibo è superlativo e suggerisco di richiedere la lezione di cucina per un' autentica esperienza indimenticabile.

Soggiorno semplicemente perfetto! La camera era accogliente e pulitissima, ma il vero gioiello è stato il balconcino con una vista mozzafiato. Un ringraziamento speciale all’host, gentilissimo e sempre disponibile, che ci ha fatto sentire subito a casa. La vera sorpresa, però, è stato il ristorantino sopra alle camere: una chicca assoluta! Abbiamo cenato lì due volte e ogni piatto è stato un'esperienza indimenticabile, cucina genuina, sapori autentici e un’atmosfera davvero speciale. Torneremo sicuramente. Super consigliato!

Overnattingsstedet var fantastisk, det ligger litt langt fra byens midtpunkt men det var bra å handlet rolig og var mer i kontakt med natur, i tillegg personalet var så fantastisk at de lånte scooter for å reise til forskjellige steder i byen. Også de hadde tilgjengelig Tuktuk eller biler til utlånt.

Het uitzicht was fantastisch en toen ik een upgrade qua kamer kreeg hadden we aansluitende balkons via een deurtje. Schoon en aardige mensen.

Het eerste kleine kamertje . Te klein ( vooral het bed). Douches waren raar. Sproeiden tegen de muren ipv naar beneden.

Bellissima struttura nelle colline di Ella. Ottima camera servita di tutto con una terrazza meravigliosa che da sulla vegetazione delle colline, stupenda. Cibo molto buono preparato con cura. Sottolineo che l’alloggio non si trova in centro, quindi per andarci dovrete prendere un tuktuk, ma è ottima per allontanarsi dal “rumore” del centro città. Una menzione particolare al proprietario che è un uomo dolcissimo e gentile. Consiglio questo posto a tutti!!

El desayuno y la atención

El alojamiento necesita un buen mantenimiento, las paredes están muy sucias y llenas de moho. Las sábanas estaban muy sucias, tuvimos que pedir que las cambiaran. Hay mucha humedad en la habitación. Además pedimos habitación con vistas y ño que nos dieron fue una habitación enana, sucia, que tenía un pasillo a la terraza. No recomiendo este alojamiento

The view is impeccable, breakfast was good, and owner was very accommodating.

Nothing really bad, just a few small things which lowered the rating. For the distance out of town we expected it to be quieter but there was lots of noise from surrounding properties throughout the night. There were gaps in the doors and windows which let a few mozzies in. No ceiling fan. No kettle in the room to boil drinking water - owner will do it if you ask. The shower goes straight onto the floor which is fine, except it’s between the bathroom door and the toilet, so after showering you’re walking over wet tiles to get to the toilet (even after sweeping water away)

Very comfortable stay, the rooms and bathrooms are nice and the breakfast is amazing! Would definitely recommend. It’s a little out of the main strip but cheap tuk tuks or a 35 min walk in.

Die Lage ist sehr ruhig, schöne Aussicht ins grüne. Das Zimmer ist sauber. Der Gastgeber war sehr hilfsbereit und hat mir ein grosses Frühstück gemacht.

The pick-up service, the view and room are just awesome, the staff, the flexibility with the staff, the check-in process, the location, and nearby restaurants on walking distance. You can rent a bike from the accommodation.

Wir haben vier Nächte hier verbracht und hatten ein schönes Zimmer mit einer absolut atemberaubenden Aussicht. Nachts konnten wir Glühwürmchen beobachten und morgens spielten Affen in der Umgebung – einfach magisch. Der Besitzer war unglaublich hilfsbereit und unterstützte uns bei allen Anliegen. Er organisierte uns jederzeit zuverlässig ein Tuk-Tuk (Ella City Center ist etwa 5–7 Minuten mit dem Tuk-Tuk entfernt, zu Fuß dauert es ca. 30–40 Minuten). Außerdem half er uns, einen Kochkurs im nahegelegenen "Bees and Honey"-Restaurant zu buchen – sehr zu empfehlen und bequem zu Fuß erreichbar. Das Frühstück war großzügig und abwechslungsreich – es gab nicht jeden Tag exakt das gleiche, was wir als sehr angenehm empfanden. Auch das WLAN war für sri-lankische Verhältnisse wirklich gut.

Wir haben die kühleren Temperaturen in der Regenzeit am Abend etwas unterschätzt – abends brauchte man schon mal eine lange Hose und eine Jacke. Die Dusche hatte nur kaltes Wasser, da sie über Solarenergie beheizt wird. Unser Tipp: Am besten nachmittags duschen, wenn das Wasser von der Sonne aufgewärmt wurde.

Sehr schöner Ausblick wie in den Bildern der Unterkunft gezeigt. Eine etwa 15 minütige Fahrt mit dem Tuktuk in die Stadt Ella. Der Host hatte uns einen Fahrer organisiert um zur Nine Arches Bridge und dem Diyaluma Wasserfall zu fahren. Ein tolles Erlebnis. Das Frühstück in der Unterkunft war lecker und reichlich.

Pobyt był jednym z naszych najbardziej udanych na Sri Lance. Bardzo sympatyczny i pomocny gospodarz wraz z rodziną. Przepiękny widok z balkonu, Smaczne śniadania lankijskie. W okolicy jest kilka rodzinnych i bardzo dobrych knajpek, gospodarz daje możliwość wynajęcia skutera.

Obiekt jest dosyć daleko od centrum - ma to swoje plusy, ale trzeba liczyć się z koniecznością dojazdów do centrum Elli. Śniadania są bardzo smaczne i sycące, ale trochę monotonne- każdego dnia jedliśmy to samo.

The view is beautiful, the room was very simple but ok.

The shower and toilet is together so after shower if you go to the bathroom is everything with water. The entrance has some construction with deep steps and some trash. The location was not so good. Traveling in Sri Lanka we stayed in far better places with the same average price. We paid 40dollars for the room and I thought it has breakfast included (I always use the filter for breakfast ) and he told me was not include. So for Sri Lanka, for this really simple place far from the center I found the place “expensive”.

Extremely helpful and friendly owner. Ajith helped us with everything we asked for and arranged even laundry and TukTuk for us. The location is not too far from the center, quiet neighbourhood. Great view from the balcony, we really enjoyed the sunrise! Very delicious breakfast (and huge portions!)! There are also some nearby nice places to eat for dinner. Thank you, will hopefully come again!

Wir hatten einen ganz tollen Aufenthalt in Daban Homestay! Die Gastgeber waren super nett und hilfsbereit und haben uns zu jeder Zeit ein Tuk Tuk gerufen. Das Frühstück war das beste, was wir bisher in Sri Lanka hatten und die Aussicht ist einfach nur toll! Die paar Regenstunden am Tag haben uns gar nicht gestört da wir uns in der Unterkunft so wohl gefühlt haben und die Zeit für ein Nickerchen nutzen konnten.

Amazing views from the room. The sunrise was spectacular (better than my morning hike to Ella rock). Host is lovely and helped me with getting some laundry done. Bathroom is big, very clean and with hot water. There’s a mosquito net for the bed and a drying rack. I slept super well and it’s dead quiet. There’s also a tv but no kettle. Host will make tea if you like. It’s a bit out of town - roughly 20 minutes uphill but I loved that. I had dinner and breakfast at cafe freedom just a few meters up the road, and once walked to bees honey restaurant which was about 15 min. I also walked directly from there to Ella Rock for sunrise.

It’s a budget home stay but everything you need! No frills in the room- simple but has all you need. The view is stunning, with a large outdoor balcony. The host is really lovely. He’s super attentive and sweet. The breakfast is delicious and he the host puts a lot of effort in to it. It’s not fancy - but it is indeed lovely. We were also provided with a laundry service for 10€.

Lovely host and family who couldn’t do enough for you, cups of tea in the evening and all. Fabulous hidden Homestay up in the hills. Quick laundry, great breakfast and a fantastic view! The upstairs of the Homestay is under construction for further expansion but the works don’t start until late morning and finish early in the evening so it didn’t affect us at all. However if you wanted to chill for a whole day it may.

It’s a perfect place to stay for some tranquility away from the bustle of Ella centre. The room is very clean, simple, stylish with a big comfortable bed. Watching the sunrise from the balcony was magical! There is breakfast available but also a few cafes/restaurants to enjoy a few minutes walk away. We tried Moonlight and Cafe Freedom - both were delicious! Thank you for a great stay!
