Reviewed Aug 23, 2026Ga hier niet heen! Alles is verouderd op de foto’s. Er is al jaren niks gedaan aan dit pand. Kamer was niet schoongemaakt. Zwarte haren en vieze vlekken in de badkamer. Ook het bed zat onder de vlekken. Kussens roken muf. Ik raad het absoluut niet aan. Voor deze prijs is er veel beter te krijgen.

Es muy caro para lo que pagas. No tiene agua caliente. No tiene aire acondicionado. Los cuartos son super pequeños con un montón de mosquitos. Booking nos ponía que teníamos desayuno incluido y resulta que no dan desayunos… Nos dijeron que se podia pagar con tarjeta, y el último día, a ultima hora, nos hicieron irnos 15 minutos andando a un ATM de noche para sacar efectivo, aun teniendo opción de pagar con tarjeta, porque tienen comisión.

I take option with breakfast, specially paid more for that -we dont get breakfast, they told us its HOLIDAY (new year was 4 days ago and in other hotel where we were was breakfast). The second day of our stay AC stop working, the staff show us another room (no working AC too) or if we want we can not spend a night in homestay. Because of that i dont recommend this place.

We went to Dots for a night out and also joined a hostel and went to doctors house, The Ruin is close for amazing cocktails. Staff so helpful, we will be back.

Reviewed Apr 3, 2026Relaxte accommodatie op een super mooie locatie in Hiriketiya. Heerlijk ontbijt (keuze van de kaart) op een top locatie, in de tuin met uitzicht op de baai met surfers. Uitzicht vanuit de kamer was echt top!! Zeer goed restaurant Ice er naast, geen last gehad van de muziek, juist gezellig.
Kamer is wat klein. Geen plek om je spullen op te hangen. Badkamer juist enorm groot. Ook erg warm met alleen een fan..

Reviewed Apr 2, 2026De locatie: je zit letterlijk aan het strand waar je kan surfen! Het personeel is super vriendelijk en behulpzaam. De strandbar super gezellig en prachtig! Je hebt zelf geen balkon maar dat maakt niet uit, aangezien je toegang tot deze prachtige strandbar hebt!

The property was listed as having air conditioning - only two rooms have this, the rest are fans. We stayed when it was 36*C and the humidity made sleeping unbearable, a real shame for somewhere so well located.

The rooms are super small so don’t go expecting a spacious room to lay about in. Was ok for us as we were only there two days but any longer and would have been claustrophobic as there’s no where to put anything.

Reviewed Mar 20, 2026Emplacement idéale avec la grande terrasse pour voir la plage et les surfeurs ! Chambre spacieuse et bien équipée. La salle de bain manquait de rangement pour pouvoir poser des affaires et elle était un peu vétuste. Le petit dej est bon et copieux mais le service était long, il faut prendre son mal en patience.
Ca peut être bruyant la nuit, nous avions la musique avec les boum boum d'un établissement à côté qui resonnait dans la chambre toute la nuit.

Power went out from 2am to 6am making it so hot I couldn’t sleep. There was significant noice from close by bars that went till 2am (apparently on Fri and Sat). The shower has no hot water or any pressure. The shower tap handle fell off. There was no amenities or toiletries (no safe, tea/coffee, hand towels, foot mat, shampoo/conditioner). No bedside tables. Staff didn’t have great English and weren’t very helpful or apologetic with our problems

Reviewed Mar 8, 2026Really only stay here if you want to be right on the seafront. Note that you can't enter the water there due to the rocks and sea urchins.
Very arrogant and uninterested staff, I've never seen something like this. They are all on their phones all day long, and are so annoyed if they have to do minimal effort. The room was just big enough to fit a bed. There is not a single hook to hang wet stuff.

Our bathroom was outside which was a bit unexpected and the price was a bit steeper, however from friends who have also stayed Hiriketya is that bit more expensive so we had good value in the end.

Reviewed Mar 7, 2026Najwieksza zaleta tego miejsca jest jego lokalizacja, oraz gościnność gospodarzy. Przepyszne śniadania oraz obłędna kawa…. Domek w 1 lini brzegowej. Do głównej plaży idzie się 2 minuty. Naprawdę poczujesz się jak w domu. Idealny spot na surfowanie (nawet pierwszorazowy).W okolicy jest wszystko czego potrzebujesz.

Struttura sporca, bagno esterno in condizioni terribili. Staff inesistente. Il primo giorno ho aspettato un’ora e mezza per la colazione (eravamo in 3 persone) dopo varie richieste mi sono preso e sono andato via. Peccato perché se ne avessero più cura sarebbe un hotel spettacolare vista la posizione.

Reviewed Mar 2, 2026Die Lage ist wirklich schön. Direkt am Hiriketiya Beach, sodass man den Surfen direkt zuschauen kann. Sauberkeit in der Unterkunft war gegeben. Das Zimmer wurde jeden Tag gereinigt.
Auf der Lage der Unterkunft wird sich definitiv ausgeruht. Ich kann nur von unserem Zimmer sprechen aber es war sehr heruntergekommen. Wir hatten eine Stromausfall im ganzen Ort, viele Restaurants und auch Hotels hatten Notstromaggregate. Diese nicht. Auch vom Hotel selbst hat man hierzu keine Informationen bekommen. Auch nicht wann und wo das inclusive Frühstück stattfinden soll. Man wurde sehr allein gelassen. Da haben wir einiges Besseres in Sri Lanka. Deswegen: Hier wird sich auf der Lage des Hotels ausgeruht und das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis ist nicht gerechtfertigt.

Das zimmer ist sehr sehr einfach. Es gibt keine Kleiderständer oder was von man die Klamotten hinpacken könnte. Es gibt nur ein Ventilator der man auf höchstens Stufe stellen muss in der Nacht da es sonst zu heisst ist. Aber sonst wars okay Die Jungs wo dort arbeiten waren sehr unfreundlich haben was für Sri Lanka sehr untypisch ist. Sie haben weder beim Koffer tragen geholfen noch hallo gesagt 🤷🏽♀️

Reviewed Feb 26, 2026The property had an amazing location with a fantastic view. It was in a quiet area next to a very lovely restaurant RAA, but walking distance of 5 min to the town. Breakfast was always served at the beach on their terrace. Staff was very friendly. We enjoyed our stay here.
The room was very small and on the ground floor. There were no shelves anywhere to put things on. For a double room, I would have expected a bit more storage space. We had a view to the sea, but we felt like we didn‘t have a lot of privacy since staff was always walking past our windows. We think the upstairs rooms were more spacious. Also, the room was cleaned daily, but only the floor and bed. We would have appreciated if the toilet and sink got cleaned regularly.

Reviewed Feb 25, 2026Die Lage war super, direkt am Meer und nur 5 Minuten bis zum Strand! Auch war das Schlafzimmer relativ groß und mit kleiner Bank, einem Sitzsack und einem kleinen Schreibtisch deutlich mehr ausgestattet als erwartet.
Das Bad war leider nicht wirklich ansprechend. Der Wasserhahn und die Dusche waren leider nicht fest verankert und gingen bei Bedienung immer ab. Außerdem waren kontinuierlich Ameisen im Bad, was den Wohlfühlfaktor sehr gedrückt hat..

Das Zimmer war in Ordnung aber nicht dem Preis entsprechend - es war nicht ganz sauber und sichtlich in die Jahre gekommen. Außerdem gabs keine Klimaanlage, lediglich einen Ventilator welcher mitten in der Nacht einfach ausgefallen ist. Das Wlan war schlecht.

La Wifi ne fonctionne pas, les photos sont un peu trompeuses concernant les chambres qui ne sont pas aussi "belles". Nous nous sommes retrouvés dans une chambre en rdc avec vue sur un scooter.. Le lit confortable avec moustiquaire mais les tapis sont sales et la sdb similaire. Les WC fuient, laissant une odeur très désagréable.

Reviewed Aug 20, 2025Het personeel is heel erg vriendelijk, willen je overal bij helpen maar absoluut niet opdringerig. Het ontbijt is heerlijk, je kan uit meerdere gerechten kiezen. De locatie is top, 2 minuten lopen naar het strand en een kleine 5-10 minuutjes naar restaurants. De kamers zijn schoon en worden ook elke dag netjes schoongemaakt. Echt genoten van ons verblijf!

We visited during off season. The garden was a complete mess and the ice pool was ripped out. There was no offer of yoga classes nor ice bathing. The ceiling in our room was falling apart onto our bed. The bathroom needs renovation. We were really disappointed, because the advertisement was a lot different.

Reviewed May 21, 2025I booked a room with sea view, and it did not disappoint. Going to bed with the sound of the waves, and waking up and having breakfast looking at the whole bay and the surfers, it really is special!
The rooms could be use a deeper cleaning, and it wasn't always so easy to connect with the staff, due to the language barriers. Also, for the price it would be nice to have AC in the rooms.

When we arrived the guy asked our name and didn’t say anything else so we had no idea about the homestay because they didn’t talk to us & we didn’t feel welcome. Cold water shower. Thumping music from the time we arrived until the night (but they didn’t warn us about this) so we ended up cancelling the rest of our stay there. WiFi didn’t work so we had to somehow guess a password of another network (different to the ones on the wall in the room). Again, as they didn’t talk to us we had no idea about breakfast times or anything so had to find a phone number to message someone.

Reviewed May 3, 2025The location is absolutely stunning, gives you views of the whole bay, you could easily spend all day just relaxing outside and watching surfers riding the waves! The room was very clean and also this was the only place in Sri Lanka that we experienced room service every day, as it doesn't seem to be the norm. Breakfast was very tasty and the guy who served us every day was so lovely I wish I had asked his name to give him some credit! And they have the cutest resident dog!

Minimal communication from the home stay meant that we didn’t know the door was locked after 1030 and it was only lucky we left our window open to get in. There is no aircon and this is quite uncomfortable even in April.

Reviewed Apr 13, 2025The location is amazing with great views over the bay where you can watch the surfers. The were lots of options for breakfast which were all delicious, and a bar that serves beers and cocktails for sundowners. The rooms are a bit rustic but the bed was comfortable.

Reviewed Apr 5, 2025Clean, very good location with a restaurant nearby with amazing breakfast and good spot to chill during the day. Jungle view rooms are good and much cheaper than the ocean views. People are friendly. There is an amazing restaurant 3 min away.
There was some confusion with the price: we booked the rooms via booking cheaper than they’re and had to clarify the situation when paying.

Fantastic view from our bedroom window of the sea, surfers, etc, and good access to Blue beach (20 minute walk) if you want a more quiet beach. The breakfast is great, sitting by the sea, with good options. Overall, it was a good stay, and very friendly owners.

Reviewed Mar 29, 2025Amazing location right on the water. Can enjoy breakfast watching the surfers. You pay for the location really as it is just a little pricey. Just a few minutes walk to the beach. Think there was surf board hire but they were all being used when we wanted them. Room was nice, spacious and working air-con and cool outdoor bathroom. Good breakfast options - could choose from a menu. Friendly staff. Would stay again.

We didn’t have AC, just a fan and it was way too hot in the room. The hostel right next to the home stay played very loud music till early morning hours. might have been because it was Saturday to Sunday. But we didn’t sleep at all

Reviewed Mar 11, 2025Very cute house with some great rooms right on the beach where you can watch surfers. The breakfast was great for a hostel brekkie and you can eat it outside watching the waves!! Family who run it are very nice people.
Not much info about how things work at check in. Have to ask for every detail like breakfast WiFi and activities info. It’s a home stay after all so you feel like you’re in a home not a hostel :)

Reviewed Feb 23, 2025Best location in Hiriketiya. Tucked away in the corner away from all the hustle and bustle. Beautiful views and right next to the surf break. Room was fine and hosts were very friendly.

The room was not amazing. The toilet seat was falling off. No AC. I feel the maintenance of the room could be better.

There’s no air-conditioning so the room gets pretty hot. We booked a room with a balcony, but it turned out the accommodation didn’t have any.
