De geur van de kamer. Omdat het regen seizoen is ruikt de kamer naar vocht.

I didn't even stay there as I couldn't take how dirty it was. It must be because it's low season, but it was really poorly kept.

De korte loopafstand tot het strand was geweldig. Het verblijf ligt verscholen in de jungle en er liepen regelmatig aapjes voor ons raam langs. De accomodatie doet zijn naam eer aan. De kamers zijn werkelijk prachtig, erg ruim (wij hadden een privé kamer) en de kamers voelen een met de natuur door de natuurlijke kleuren/materialen. De eigenaresse is uiterst vriendelijk. Wij hebben steeds bij geboekt.

The hosts are truly exceptional people and are willing to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The location is also excellent - close to many of the local Sri Lankan restaurants and steps away from the beach.

Amazing location. Lovely staff. Nothing too difficult for them. Awesome and oversized room - great open air bathroom.

No bedside lamp - so had to turn on big light if I wanted to relax or read in bed.

Excellent location to check out the surf in the mornings it's very close but far enough away from the music etc. The massive room with high ceilings is really nice, up in the trees, the bed was comfortable and I slept well.

Hard to find, signage isn't clear and a tutuk driver from the bus stop will be clueless. No social area, so if you are not in a dorm it's not easy to meet over guests, go and play pool at the hangout bar (5 mins walk )to meet people.

super kind, helpful and responsive owners! dorm room is super clean, large, with great A/C and fans, curtains in front of the bunks for privacy, a small window (!!!) for every bunk, aswell as a large built in locker for the big backpack. its just 4mins from the most amazing beach and around the corner of the best lunch and dinner spots in town (e.g kingsley;))

Wir haben hier mit zwei 4jährigen Kinder 9 Nächte verbracht und waren rundum zufrieden. Die Unterkunft ist sehr schön. Komfortable, sauber und nah am Strand. Die Familie war unglaublich nett und hilfsbereit aber nicht aufdränglich, was wir sehr schätzen. Alle drei Tage wurde das Zimmer gesäubert mit neuen Handtüchern und Bettwäsche. Es gab eine kleine Küche und einen Kühlschrank. Jeden Tag haben wir Affen und Fledermäuse gesehen. Wir kommen gerne irgendwann wieder! Danke für alles!

Am Wochenende ist es tatsächlich etwas laut, aber das wird in jeder zentralen Unterkunft in Hiriketiya so sein.

Very close to the beach, room was very comfortable with A/C. The owners were lovely and location was great too! The outdoor shower was fun, highly reccomend for the price in Hiriketiya

The room was very spacious and I loved the outdoor shower, I watched monkeys while brushing my teeth in the morning! The host was very lovely and very accommodating letting me keep my bag at the property before and after check out. The location is amazing and so close to the beach and a little walk to the main town. I would recommend!

Fijne locatie in Hiriketya, nette dorm en prima voorzieningen!

Het feest geluid (en gedreun) kan flink doorwerken tot in de kamer, maar misschien is dit alleen in het weekend. Neem oordopjes mee.

Nära stranden och matställen i lummig trädgård och på bra avstånd från trafiken. Badrummet med utedusch var jättefint och skönt.

När vi bodde där var det viss buller från närliggande fastigheter, vilket vi är känsliga för.

It’s a spaceship room with a nice atmosphere. On the floor you have a nice view over the jungle. Little monkeys are climbing around the house that’s why the name fits perfectly to the accommodation. AC works perfectly and the bathroom is really private even though it’s outside.

The toilet is not flushing right but that’s a general problem on this island :)

Two mins to Hiri beach. Comfy beds. Lots of space in rooms.

Un lugar nuevo,reformado,limpio, cómodo, con a/c. En la planta alta con unas vistas de la selva preciosas. Me encanta.

It was just a short walk to the beach and very close to restaurants and cafes. The people were very friendly and helpful and we were able to get our washing done. The family room was quite small but the beds were very comfortable and had mosquitoes nets.

The rooms are big, the outdoor shower is nice. The host is nice.

I booked this based upon the high ratings and I have no idea what they are based upon to be honest. The room smelled mouldy, the bed sheets are some beach towels, the lighting makes you feel like you are sleeping in a supermarket and the AC barely works (it took hours for my room to cool down). On top of that there were red drops on the floor, I want to stay positive here and assume it was paint and not blood, but to be honest there is no red paint to be seen around in the room. As a solo female traveller I didn’t like the location either as you have to go back through some dark sandy road. The final straw was for me that the electricity sockets were not working either in my room and the only solution offered was to charge electronics in the main house of the owner, which obviously is not great. I initially booked for 4 nights and left after 1.

Great location, comfy beds, nice big room, views are amazing and the staff are so nice! I was in the dorm room and it does have working A/C.

The floors in the room needed sweeping and I don’t think the bins had been changed in while. The bug nets are dirty and have wholes in them but they do the job.

La ubicación está muy bien, al lado de la playa. El baño al exterior está chulísimo. Y la habitación era súper grande.

Todos los enchufes eran de tipo britanico.ademas dejamos el neceser en el baño y unos monos nos lo robaron por la noche y solo pudimos recuperar parte de las cosas después d ebuscar por la jungla.

I had the most amazing stay in this hostel! The dorm is beautiful. Thanks to the way the beds are built, you have a lot of privacy. Every bed has an own window from which you can watch monkeys in the morning, sitting in the tree next to you. Everything was very well maintained and the staff made sure to make me feel as comfortable as possible. It’s only three minutes away from the beautiful beach. Nadeeka, the owner of the hostel, is so kind and warm and genuinely interested. I could really feel that she puts her whole heart into the hostel. If I ever come back to Sri Lanka, I will definitely go back to the jungle escape.

Stayed here 2 days. Wish we stayed longer. The location is amazing, quiet but very close to the beach. The room is very spacious and very nice. The outdoor bathroom was the biggest selling point. The lady that owns it is SUPER nice.

Loved the outdoor bathroom - occasionally shared a shower with a frog! Just a short walk to the beach and Nadeeka helped us with various things throughout our stay.

Bathroom was slightly dirty with a hair in the sink and there were some stains on the mosquito net. Other than that, room was clean

Very new place, the day we arrived they had just installed new AC. It has a nice vibe with half outdoor bathroom. You can spot monkeys, best was to be on the upper floor. Had plenty of fans too. The owners are absolutely gorgeous. It is super close to the beach, has a tiny kitchen with kettle and fridge. Absolutely loved staying there!

One night we did have some party noise from nearby. It didn’t bother me, but if you‘re sensible perhaps could be an issue.

One of the best hostels I have ever seen, beds is builtin the room, its super conformable, beautiful view to the jungle, you will be lucky if you found it available, I felt like home

Great location. Good storage, clean and lovely staff.

There is no AC as advertised, even though we were being told it was ‘being put in tomorrow’ upon arrival. A few things went wrong during our stay, which I understand happens, but it wasn’t ever addressed to us. The water was off for a day. It rained one day and it leaked on my bed all night, luckily there was a spare bed, but the night before there wouldn’t have been. When we arrived after a long travel day wanting a nap, they were still ‘building’ the room, with saws, hammers and drills going past check in time. None of this ruined our stay, and I think it’s a fairly new room, but one thing after another was slightly annoying.

Proximity to the beach. Room design. Space and tall ceiling in the room. Outside private bathroom was fun and hot water worked nicely. Area was quiet.

The parking wasn’t the most comfortable but ok.

Very clean, spacious dorm room. Beautiful set up.

Only downside was that on booking it says the dorm room has AC. However, when I arrived they told me this was only the case for the private rooms.

The room is large and modern, the partially outside bathroom is lovely. Nadeeka is a wonderful host who arranged my airport transfer for me. She let me leave my bags and take a shower in the hostel bathroom after I had checked out (my flight was in the evening). Perfect location too.

The location is really good many restaurants and shops and cafes and the beach are all within a few minutes walking distance. Host is very helpful and kind. Bathrooms are lovely - no hot water but it’s not needed with the heat. Two showers and two toilets all in seperate cubicles is good. Mosquito nets provided and privacy curtains on the dorm beds work fantastic, and each bed has a window that opens fully to let in the cool breeze. Lots of monkeys around.

No a/c. The fans didn’t blow air into the beds only into the common area in the middle. Definitely needed a little fan in each bed. Slightly overpriced for no a/c.

The friendliest and most helpful host! We loved the semi-outdoor bathroom, the room was very clean and had everything we needed for the couple of days we were there. Location was perfect as you can be on the beach in 1 minute!

This is a beautiful hostel with amazing views and great clean facilities! It’s been the nicest one I’ve stayed in thus far! So close to the beach and great local restaurants! And the walk there Is beautiful!The hosts were very kind and lovely and even helped me plan my bus route up to ella! I highly recommend and was sad to leave!

It was very clean and the beds were private - it felt that you have your own space. I went to different hostels in Hiriketiya, but this one is the best.

Internet wasn’t working

The owners are so nice, we enjoyed our stay and can totally recommend this guesthouse. Really comfi and nice room with outdoor bathroom. Jungle feeling, especially in the morning when the monkeys set up there playground around the guest house. Really close to beach and sunset bar!

I booked this property based on a review written by a family similar to ours. And the open air bathroom. We are a family of 4 with a 5 yr old girl and 2 year old boy. We rented the large family suite and it couldn’t have been more perfect. Less then 5 mins from the beach, large comfortable double beds with mosquito nets, a shared kitchenette, large comfortable bathroom with hot water and AC. The owners were such lovely accommodating people. The best part was the location. Hiritekiya is an Instagramy digital nomady hotspot, and Jungle Escape is located in the less developed part of the beach. So we were close to everything but in a more tranquil environment.
