Host's went above and beyond with thoughtful extras. The hand towels were the fluffiest I have ever encountered! I can not fault this property.

We had a very disgusting and disappointing experience staying here. We discovered a significant ant infestation, with large numbers coming through the walls, around the heat pump, and near the window. They were spreading into multiple areas, including the bathroom and along the walls. It quickly became clear the unit was not suitable to stay in. Because of this, we had no choice but to leave that same night and travel 7 hours home. Despite providing photos and explaining the situation, the response from the host has been appauling, with no reasonable resolution offered. It’s a shame, as the place may have potential, but the condition of the property and how the situation was handled made this a very poor experience overall!!

The place was clean, comfortable and it has everything you need. Very relaxing even thro we were there for work. Would recommend it to anyone.

Beautiful place and just loved it how we could close the gates and relax kos we have a young kid who loved every minute of it.. seeing the sheep and having a back yard. Perfect size back yard and the unit too highly recommend this place good for kids too the pool was great to. Had a great stay would have stayed longer if we could.

The units were spotlessly clean and the fenced outdoor area for our pet dog was excellent. The pool was lovely. The unit has everything you need and the welcome drinks and biscuits were a thoughtful touch. There are fruit trees everywhere, it’s a really beautiful place to stay. Not too far from Richmond. Highly recommend this property and will definitely stay again.

Perfect place to stay. Great owners. Clean, tidy and everything functioned as it should. The fruit trees and gorgeous dog Tiny were an absolute bonus.

Beautifully aspected, fabulous, fully self contained, quality, spacious, comfortable accommodation in a lovely landscaped environment. The 2 bedroom fully fenced and gated newish townhouse completely catered for all our needs. The place was immaculately presented with two very comfortable queen sized beds. The owner thoughtfully gave us fresh eggs and other treats which were really appreciated. How did Shelley know I enjoy a cider, I dont know! It was so nice to be able to have our dog with us while on holiday and know that when she was outside she was contained in a safe, fenced yard. Not all units are fenced but have a private screen in front of their patio. I thoroughly recommend staying at Country Retreats and would have no hesitation to stay again. Thanks Shelley and staff.

It was the complete package for us. We liked the fact that it's pet friendly. Each unit is completely fenced for our pet dogs to run free. The bed and couch were very comfortable.

We were thrilled with our stay - the unit was well equipped and there were lots of extras like ground coffee, chocolates and biscuits. The pool was so welcome in the lovely weather and staff made sure our visiting grandchildren felt free to use it. We would definitely choose Country Retreats On Ranzau again.

Loved our stay here. Plenty of space, clean and well equipped. Really comfy beds and great shower. Could shut the gates and the dog was secure to come in and out to the garden as she pleased. Great outdoor area to enjoy the evening sun. Handy to so many things if exploring the area as we were.

This was our first stop after a transpacific flight and it was exactly the restorative retreat that we needed. The hosts anticipated our every need and we were very comfortable. The landscaping and fruit trees added to the ambiance.

Well-appointed stand-alone cottage with a great shower and each unit has its own lovely garden (including fruit trees). The bed was more comfortable than our own (first time I’ve ever said that) and the family who own the accommodation were lovely. The kitchen had everything we needed and the chocolates and other goodies in the fridge were a lovely touch. The accommodation was well situated for trips in all directions.

The accommodation is everything we needed in a peaceful location. We loved the goodies and enjoyed your hens eggs.

It had a washing machine and dryer, modern, gate, dogs allowed, fruit trees, a bit of lawn.

Didnt like that the houses were a bit close together but was very happy overall

All the small details. The milk & cookies in the fridge, the coffee beans & plungers. Superbly presented bathrooms & linen. Laundry facilities a real bonus when travelling with kids too. Plenty of room indoors & with happy kids in the pool while Dad cooked BBQ after a day of exploring the region - awesome!

Quiet semi-rural setting with everything on offer. Wonderfully comfy big beds, very clean & well stocked units. Fully fenced for our wee schnauzer who loved staying here & having a little dog friend next door to visit daily. Gorgeous heated pool to use if weather warm. Thank you for the treats left in the fridge - so kind & thoughtful. Second visit here and would highly recommend. We will be back again. Thanks

Fabulous unit set in a semi-rural setting. Each unit has its own assigned area. This unit is fully fenced and gated. Small dogs can still slip through an area of timber fencing but it is easily managed. Quiet area and pool looked so inviting and was warm because it is heated. Spotlessly clean, warm & inviting. Thanks for a great stay. Am back next weekend so looking forward to spending more time here.

Exceptional apartment with everything you may need and more! The unit is spacious, pristine clean, well organised and has every necessity and luxury you may need. The bedding, crockery cutlery and layout of the unit is well-kept, coordinated and designed with convenience in mind. The hosts were very welcoming and provided biscuits and drinks for our last minute late night arrival. Would highly recommend this property!

My family loved everything about the country retreat❤️it was the perfect 👌house for our little family holiday and affordable 🥰hands down but this is by far our favorite apartment💯😍my kids enjoyed it especially the pools👌and what made it even more fun I showed it to some of our family members that came along with us to nelson and they booked the other house across from ours and another house that was a few minutes drive away from us😂❤️our next trip to nelson will definitely be booking with you guys again👍my kids miss the country retreat house but will definitely be coming back👍❤❤

Perfectly what we needed, with a fantastic environment to include my paw baby. Close to family but still gave us our own space. Very accommodating for my health requirements as well. Thank you, we will definantly recommend to others.

Awesome place to stay if you're on the way further south/north on a trip, or prefer somewhere a bit quieter than the city centre (I think about a 20 min drive to Nelson). Checking in was very easy, complementary drinks/snacks provided and overall a cosy but spacious cabin with everything you need.

* Extra wire at the bottom of the fence by the gas cylinders to make it 100% dog proof + latch on gate would be better than a chain

It was great having the whole clean house and garden to ourselves! Super dog friendly having a fully fenced gate. The bbq and pool facility made it even better. The staff was so friendly and helpful.

Backyard fence was a bit loose that our small dog could escape but wasn’t a big deal.

Loved how dog friendly this place is. Loved that it's fully fenced with your own little grass and garden area. A modern home that smells like new with great facilities. Everything you need to have a relaxing peaceful stay. Would highly recommend if you are wanting a higher end stay with your furry friend in tow.
