Awesome central location ✅ Only a few steps to downtown Wānaka ✅ Bubbling brook in the backyard ✅ Private and quiet ✅ Warm ✅ (never put the heat-pump on at all as the underfloor heating kept everything cozy! Comfortable & supportive bed ✅ Water pressure ✅ Washing machine ✅ Off street parking ✅ Cooking utensils ✅ (vital for us as we stayed two weeks) Sun drenched ✅ Big wardrobe ✅

Not a negative but just to note that sports gear needs to be stored on the deck but there is a small covered area and it was out of sight from the road so was safe to store it there.

Reviewed Mar 3, 2026Absolutely everything about this property is outstanding. Our Suite 78 was very modern, spacious and super clean. The setting with a large back deck looking out to a beautifully landscaped, secluded backyard with a running creek was amazing. Plus the location could not have been better. On a quiet street just a short 5 minute walk to the waterfront with all the restaurants. In our five weeks traveling in NZ, this was by far our favorite lodging.

Reviewed Jan 8, 2026Very good location. Beautiful space. Clean and comfortable. Lovely bathroom, great to have a washing machine. It was unseasonably cold when we arrived and couldn’t get the heating to work but Carl the owner did sort it out for us.
There was no milk in the fridge … everywhere we have stayed has provided a small bottle on arrival. Also, no shower wash in the bathroom (although there was shampoo & conditioner). Unusual for such a high end apartment.

Reviewed Mar 29, 2025We overall enjoyed our stay at Brookside. The apartment is new with nice carpet and furniture and fresh paint/ wallpaper. The bed is comfortable and the washing machine was a great addition. It was fairly clean, but missing quite a few finishing touches to make a comfortable stay. They provide a Nespresso machine with no pods, a coffee press with no ground coffee and a paper towel holder with no paper towels, no milk for your coffee either. The pots and crockery were of low quality and already required replacement. For the price and the misleading name I suggest they up their game and invest in finishing this apartment off appropriately, there is a lot of potential here.

Reviewed Feb 27, 2025The location in Wanaka is quite outstanding. A beautiful rear garden with a stream (we were in No 78), surrounded by other gardens and many types of trees. The windows all look out onto the garden.
The supply of plates, glasses, cutlery was limited for the two of us as if we were expected to dine out all the time.

Needs a tumble dryer as nowhere to dry clothes - we got soaked on a bike ride and needed to dry everything. Apartment feels a bit soulless and needs some pictures. Coffee maker but no pods?

Lack of crockery & glassware; only one champagne glass & insufficient crockery & cutlery. Nespresso coffee machine but no capsules supplied; no welcome milk for a cuppa after a long journey. Everything supplied (eg tissues) was almost empty or missing. Little things but annoying when you pay a good price for high quality accommodation .

Reviewed Apr 4, 2024The location was great - only 5 minutes walk from waterfront cafes and shops. The setting was delightful, beside a creek and surrounded by a beautifully planted garden. The accomodation was roomy,modern and comfortable. Bed was comfortable and the kitchen adequately set up.
We were pleased to see a Nespresso coffe machine however there were no capsules for our first morning, so no coffees!! Also a small bottle of milk would have been appreciated as we arrived latish. Shampoo and conditioner in the shower but no bodywash.

The apartment was pure luxury and so well equipped with everything a person would need. Looking forward to returning there in the not too distant future.

Reviewed Jun 10, 2023The location was excellent - literal minutes walk to supermarket, the lake, restaurants etc but in a secluded, private location that didn't feel like it was as central as it was. Very warm inside considering how cold it was - the underfloor heating makes it so cosy in freezing temperatures. Good blinds in bedroom made it very dark to sleep at night which was great.
Super picky and personal preference more than anything, but a nicer instant coffee (I know it's complimentary!) and a little jug of milk in the fridge on arrival would be great - after a long day of travelling, I love when there's just enough supplies to make a coffee on arrival or in the morning before heading out - especially with the lovely deck. Did have some issues with the wifi dropping and taking 5 mins to get back up and running. All minor things.

Reviewed Apr 26, 2023Absolutely everything. Unexpectedly, this turned out to be our BEST stay of our month in New Zealand. Great location walkable to the lake front. Very nice to have our own parking spot. The stream running through the back of the property was the big surprise, and oh so very soothing. We left the sliding door open to listen to it in the evening. Because it was so nice, we bought groceries from a nearby store and ate in. Important for us was the availability of clothes washer. Overall, the unit's stylish, compact, well designed to be very comfortable for two.
Usually I can identify some "opportunities", but in this case, there were none. The property was really perfect for us. We plan to return.
