It's the most wonderful and beautiful place to stay in my life till now. All the ducks as part of the theme made my experience joyous. Everything was immaculate and the hosts were really friendly and great to talk to. I have never seen a better maintained property ever.

Rural but close to town

The location was perfect.

Lovely homely, slightly quirky unit. Impeccably clean, lovely choice of beverages and a plate of biscuits on arrival. Owner had popped the heat pump and lamps on for us as we were arriving late, which was really welcoming.

Shower could have done with a bit more oomph!

Lovely home like place with everything you could want for a night or a week. Well equipped kitchen with lots of thoughtful details. Very friendly hosts but they know the perfect balance of helpful friendliness without intrusion.

Booking.com double booked us in Rivendell, and the owners phoned us immediately about the problem. They emailed also, to make sure we were aware. Excellent, and caring service, and though we didn't stay there, would certainly look them up when down that way in the future.

Always clean and comfortable this property is situated in a delightful country setting. The hosts are always super friendly and helpful.

Ricky was a lovely host and we enjoyed patting Brambles the horse and the nearby orchard. The apartment is well stocked with everything you need including cosy bathrobes. It was also one of the rare places in Geraldine where you can bring a pet.

The bed has a bit of a squeak, although overall very comfortable. The shower space is quite small and the pressure a little on the low side, but to be honest we were so impressed with the place and what you get in that price range, that they were minor details.

Location good. This cute place is older but very cosy and clean and everything you need. We felt it should be called duck heaven (ha ha ) This is not a complaint but maybe something to take in, I felt the bed was a bit hard and maybe the pillows. After that we would definitely go back to Duck Heaven if coming back this way. Thankyou

The hosts were very friendly and knowledgeable about what was available to see and do in the locality. The Studio Unit was clean, comfortably furnished and had everything one would need for a self catering stay. The bed was extremely comfortable - had some awesome sleeps here. Lovely touch from the hosts with some cookies and milk in the fridge on our arrival. Thank you Ricky & Andrew for a most enjoyable stay. We will be back again sometime.

Erica was a lovely host, so easy to talk to. Three words spring to mind when describing the property… birds, berries and love. We had everything we needed and enjoyed the experience of picking berries from the orchard. The birdsong was divine!

Beautifully prepared and decorated spacious room in a quiet garden location only a short drive from town. Very welcoming, helpful and considerate host. The room had a comfortable bed and a sofa. The kitchen was well equipped, with a washing machine as well. A very comfortable and relaxing place for an enjoyable stay. Highly recommended.

A bit visually overdone

For a couple of nights the accommodation was comfortable & suited our needs. We had a car so could drive to various locations in Geraldine. The hosts were very easy going & helpful.

Lovely friendly hosts who take extra care to ensure wonderful clean and comfortable accommodation with everything you could want supplied. Great quiet lifestyle block location beautiful garden. Will definitely be returning when we need a relaxing weekend away.

Everything looks new, there was everything one needs and the location and owners are excellent.

There wasn't anything I didn't like.

Staying again because we liked it so much. Setting is fantastic. Room provision is opposite of minimal (though didnt have hot chocolate). Quality fittings and bed squeak fixed.

Hard to imagine. This is our go to when staying anyway in the vicinity.

Shower water pressure is rather weak.

We didn't actually end up staying. The host had offered to cancel our booking as we needed two beds. I see we have still been charged even thought we ended up staying elsewhere.

Waking up to bird song instead of traffic noise. Incredibly friendly and helpful hosts. Everything about the room was nice from the duck-themed decor, to the consumables, to the crockery - the opposite of motel minimalism and cheap over-packaged consumables. The kitchen was well-equipped and would be comfortable for an extended self-catered stay. Bathrobes in the bathroom! It would be our first choice for a return visit.

One slat on the bed was a bit creaky but it did not disturb us.

Such a cute spot, handy location. The unit is exceptionally well equipped.

The location was very close to central Geraldine, only a 2 minute drive. The unit was very clean, warm and welcoming, with lots of thoughtful touches such as being preheated for us with the heatpump going, a plate of biscuits on the bench, plenty of milk in the fridge, and two lovely soft dressing gowns provided in the bathroom. The bed was very comfortable. We were impressed that a full kitchen and even a washing machine was provided. The décor was very unique, a charming mix of country cottage core, with extensive duck decorations 🦆🦆🦆🦆🦆

It didn't bother us as were only staying one night, but it we had been staying several nights the absence of a dishwasher may have been a bit inconvenient

The small unit has everything you need and is quiet and peaceful.

So many extra touches, such as washing machine, well equipped kitchen , good quality crockery and cutlery, nice toiletries, and a big welcome on arrival made staying here an exceptionally nice experience

Very Cosy and homely, Extremely Clean, High-quality linens, towels, toiletries, & necessities. Excellent furnishings with modern country decor...much nicer than the pictures depicted on booking platform. Has literally everything we need ! ...even washing machine. Host was also v.friendly, welcoming, hospitable & generous. V.Highly recommended, and certainly good value for $$. Would have stayed longer had we known. Rating 12/10 !!

The location was perfect for us since we were travelling from Central Otago to North Canterbury. We arrived a little later than planned, however, all was well. The annex has excellent facilities and we cooked at the property - it had comprehensive cooking facilities. Milk was provided for breakfast, which we had catered for. The studio was warm using the air conditioning, and very comfortable. Overall an excellent and enjoyable night's stay.

The host, Ricky, met us on arrival, and was very welcoming, and helpful. The unit was very comfortable, well appointed...and included fresh home-made cookies, plunger coffee, a range of teas etc. A lovely quiet rural location, but very close to town. We enjoyed our stay so much that we've booked again for next year!

A lovely peaceful place just outside the town. Had everything we needed, Comfortable bed. Ricky is a great host, went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. Would highly recommend Rivendell for your next stay.

Nice quiet rural setting. Great bird song in the morning. A nice comfy unit with all the amenities you could reasonable expect. Even two types of milk! Ricky is a very welcoming person, and then left you to your privacy.

Felt very much welcomed by Ricky (Erica) and were made to feel comfortable and ‘at home’. Had everything we wanted (kitchen, means to launder clothes, really comfortable bed and cosy/ warm inside). Extra touches like biscuits. Has a lovely duck ‘theme’ inside. Tranquillity and rural location. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

Was super clean, comfy bed, great shower and kitchen

A really great find. Traditional Kiwi room just out of the township. Very comfy bed, good bathroom and kitchen facilities but the main thing that makes this place so special are the little touches like homemade biscuits for the tea and coffee on arrival, the CD player / radio. We've now stayed here twice as it's so quiet and peaceful and just out of town. Great place to break thew journey down South.

Really friendly and helpful hosts - made sure we had everything we needed and left fresh milk and biscuits in the room for us. Really clean and spacious room - amazing value. Also loved meeting the animals including Gimli the highland cow. Can't fault at all and wish we had been able to stay for longer.

Loved this cute cottage on the farm, also fascinated with the decor, was a pleasure to add to the collection. Loverly Host, put homemade cookies in the room and farm fresh milk
