Electric blankets
I enjoyed the hikes and the serenity of the place
The decoder was OVHD with free channels only (etv). TV itself was old, couldn't stream and couldn't even cast
Everything
Nothing
Peaceful location, friendly staff and so much to do at Eland Valley and surrounds.
Everything was perfect, wouldn't change a thing
All good 👍

The views were incredible. The best experience of a lifetime was watching the first snowfall. Eland Valley Resort is situated in an ideal location were the snow blanketed the mountains. The rooms are cosy and blankets are sufficient, towels were clean, and my kids loved the bunk beds. The manager Sheldon, handles the place very well and is on the ball at all times. We were stuck in the snow and he got his team to pull us out.
Although the rooms were clean, the property is in need of a renovation. The living room, dining room , bathroom, and shower areas are very outdated and require upgrading. The main entry door also needed repairs as it did not open. Improvements such as solar power and gas heating will be beneficial as there is electricity disruptions for a period of time. A covered communal braai area with a fireplace would greatly enhance the experience. Overall, the property feels dated and somewhat dreary.
The scenery is amazing. Hot water was available as and when needed. Lovely game room and enjoyed the canoeing. Wish I could have stayed longer.
Everything was perfect 👌
The electricity was not working but Sheldon n Ntando made a plan
The peace and tranquillity.
The unit needed some attention and maybe a mixer in the kitchen and a shower door.
Great location. Amazing views . It felt like a second home. We enjoyed every moment and the supplies were adequate. Definitely going back.
No water in the morning. For our second day , we had to bathe with a cold shower.
L’emplacement est exceptionnel. Les cabines sont propres et disposent dune vue magnifique .
En hiver, il fait très très froid, on ne nous a pas proposé de chauffage.
The location is in between the hills aside the mountain with a dam in front of the units. You can easily admire the view as well as the bird life and otters that make use of the water. We had cold rainy weather and could not enjoy the outside during our short stay. They do provide wifi included in the unit rental as mobile signal is not available / reliable. Value for money
The unit is basic and very cold - recommended to bring a heater in winter. There is a large gap in the unit entrance door which combats efforts to retain heat in the unit. General condition of the property and units needs maintenance or improvements, cracks in the windows and broken gutters. Cables and pipes are not neatly installed between the units. The braai facilities are away from the unit outside which makes usage limited and weather dependent. Very rustic and basic for those seeking simple comforts.
Everything from the person that helped us to our entire stay was amazing. It was our second time back and will definitely comeback.
Maybe can you please include heating, it gets very cold especially in the winter.
The views out the windows
Hiking trails need some new markings
There was no heating unit.
The location was beautiful, surrounded by the rolling foothills of the Berg. The cabin was cozy and perfect for our family getaway. Loads of things to keep the kiddies busy during our stay.
Minor repairs need to be done in our cabin no. 2. The reading lights above the bed in the main bedroom were BOTH broken and hanging dangerously off the wall, with their wires exposed. The wooden deck had some loose nails sticking out and unfortunately, my son cut his foot quite badly when he kicked one while walking. Some deeper cerial bowls could also be useful to some families.
The host Sheldon was extremely helpful. He made sure our stay was comfortable. Great job in managing this resort. Owners should be proud of him.
Kitchen needs a little more stuff like bigger pots and pans.
People who booked unit 2 on Sunday 12 July should be blacklisted as they were drunk all night making a noice
Location was superb and the views were great. Gave the feeling of Dirty Dancing vibes!
WiFi… I know we should really take a break. We loved the spa and the fact there are things to do and the freedom for the kids to get away from adults.
The scenery and the great staff.
The deck had exposed nails which did injure us. The deck planks were lifting as well as bending due to the protruding nails coming off and loose. The units should have at least 1 mirror in each room.. The kitchen lacks a can opener and potatoe peeler. The couch in the lounge is very very uncomfortable. The game/rec room pool table is badly damaged and basically un usable The air hockey table which you have to pay to use is very uneven/slanting due to the saginng floor. The carom board is very old and does not function properly. The floor in the corner where the dart board is situated is almost caving in which is very dangerous.
The sceren and quietness.
That we had to pay for the gas heater
The inside of the cottage..the cottage was cosy n lovely
The braai area deftly needs an upgrade..Please
The cabin was clean, had a heater, and everything you need. It was like we were home
The entertainment area need some improvement. The game arcade was not working and the pool table canvas was worn out. Other than that, great venue
The view was exceptional. The cabins were clean and tidy and the staff were all friendly and quite helpful.
The cabins were extremely cold at night and there were no heaters provided.
Peaceful
No hot water from the geyser
Everything was perfect
Nothing
Loved the views of the mountain and the dam. Also its location to all the hiking trails. And definitely worth a revisit.
We didn’t have electricity for 2 days during the night and one morning till 8am in the morning. We had no idea of what was happening and could not charge our cellphones and we didn’t carry lamps so we had to work in the dark as we were hikers having to leave early every morning. Management didn’t even explain to us as to what the problem was.
The place is Amazing. We really had Fun with the Kids and the whole Family. We enjoyed Every moment.
We liked Everything.
The location and views were amazing.
The furniture in the lounge was very uncomfortable.
The cabin is super comfy, the mountain view is out of this world.
Nothing I didn't enjoy.
Tranquil setting, cosy cabin, scenic walks
Uncomfortable lounge furniture and mattress on the bed, bad smell from the drains which were managed by keeping the washbasin and kitchen sink plugs in place in the drain outlets.
Everything nature
Could have had abit more activities
Beautiful views and surroundings and comfortable bed and linens
Lack of usable pots to cook anything beyond a one pot meal and only small bowls but otherwise kitted decently.
The scenery
Our wifi password expired in a few hours.it was supposed to be valid for 7 days, we just stayed for 2 days and before the first day was over the password had expired. And we couldn't request a new password because the office closed at 5pm and the gas for the stove was also finished so we couldn't make supper we had to wait for the next day for someone to come change the gas
The property is beautiful and clean.
There was no electricity Saturday and sunday No hot water, water was brown. No emergency light, cos the place was in darkness. Toilet area was sticking No cellphone signal, says free wifi but there was nothing. It was bad. First and last
I had a wonderful stay at Eland Valley Resort. The location is excellent, with beautiful scenery all around. The log cabin was cosy, comfortable, and had everything I needed for a relaxing stay. It was peaceful and the perfect place to unwind in nature. The staff were friendly and welcoming. I would definitely visit again!
Stunning location in a beautiful part of the country. 360 views around the property and can escape into nature just by walking out your front door. Definitely the spot for a quiet, contemplative, nature-immersed getaway. The hosts also upgraded our room free of charge! Relaxed place. Nothing fancy, but superb if you're just looking for a down to earth place to spend a weekend. Lots of hiking nearby. The wooden huts do get quite cold, though, so I would recommend hiring one of the heaters in Winter!
The location is stunning, and the peace and quiet were just what we were looking for.
We'd have liked the braai area to be more integrated with the chalet. It's not really designed to sit around and chat while cooking.
The cabins were spacious and not very close to each other. They had nice views of the lake. The only employee on the property was doing his best to help despite the situation.
No electricity on the property, even though the electricity had been cut off a day prior, we received zero communication from the host about this. No signal or internet so we couldn’t even see if there were other available accommodations. It’s 40 minutes drive away from the centre and nothing in the area. The closest restaurant is 15 mins drive away to another resort. No candles or heaters provided in the cabin for the inconvenience due to our phones batteries being low we couldn’t use them much either. Also, the front door didn’t lock with the keys provided. There was no one else on the property besides 1 employee. And the hosts refuse a refund. Worst service and worse experience. I wish I could rate it a 0 because 1 star is already too much.
Beautiful views, peaceful during the day, clean utensils and bedding, easy check-in.
The first thing we noticed when we walked in was a strong smell of curry followed by how tatty the interior was. It is past the tlc stage and in need of a full refurbishment. The wiring looked terrible, fastened to the wall with a random piece of jaggedy metal with the satellite box hanging by it's own cables from the TV, other wires taped up with insulation tape, one looked quite dangerous. The bathroom door couldn't be closed so no privacy and the bedroom door handle was missing, only a back plate held on with one screw instead of four. The shower was black with mould, as was the kitchen sink. We dare not open the bedroom window as the glass looked like it was about to fall out of the frame, the settee was very uncomfortable and the lighting was like being sat in a waiting room. The bedroom wardrobe door handle was missing exposing a long sharp screw sticking out for anyone walking past to rip their arm open on, very dangerous. We were supposed to stay two nights but it was so uncomfortable and potentially dangerous we left after one. There has obviously been no maintenance carried out on lodge 12 for a long time and it doesn't get like that overnight!! I know the accommodation was cheaply priced but we have been travelling South Africa for three weeks, stopping in many accommodations and have experienced nothing close to this, all have been of high standard, even at similar price points. This is just not acceptable in 2026, people work hard for their money and deserve better. On leaving we were offered a alternative unit, which we declined, we just wanted away, I brought up the issue of a refund which was declined. Left very disappointed with this rare experience.
Quite with no cell reception
Lovely place just to relax
Need to upgrade bathrooms.
It was clean and perfect for a couple of days.
It said there was WiFi, but this was not working and the property had no signal at all. Also one of our units did not lock
Very peaceful location
The wi fi was non existent which made it difficult to communicate with family. The picture on booking.com does not do justice to the place, the scenery is breath taking.
Increase amenities according to the number of guests in the room eg , toilet paper, house keeping please check eg if all light bulbs are working,we had a kitchen light bulb which was not working for the two days.
The view
Cabin needed a lot of maintenance, inventory did not match what was in the cabin, no wine glasses, old bent and dent fry pan. Braai area difficult to use, shower dirty, tiles broken, no fans, windows cracked and broken, windows stuck, couldn't open, gutters full of holes, paths steep and uneven, parking extremely difficult to get into, bare wires lying on the ground, only one fork in the unit, we happened to find another one in the fire pit!!! No where to put keys when we left, no shelf to put toiletries on in the bathroom , just very scruffy, wont be back.
The cottage was well.appointed. Kitchen was well supplied. Beautiful dam with resident crowned cranes. Eland came into the valley each day.
Double bed is quite small...2 single beds would be better. Cats roaming the property should not be there....a hazard to local wildlife.
The location was number one, just over the lake at the canoes.couldnt ask for more. The accommodation served the purpose we needed. Kitchen had all the necessities and bathroom was clean, neat and spacious. Enough space for our family of 6. The recreation room was thoroughly enjoyed by my boys and myself ,had something for everyone. Very friendly reception staff, was up and about assisting in everyway. Definitely a return guest with extended family.🥰
The bathroom door kept getting stuck someone had to open from outside. That's it.
Wifi was on and off, tv plug not working. No tea, suger and milk
Location is great. Cabin is simple, but adequate. Good towels and linen. View from cabin was more than expected.
Some cabin furniture- like coaches and chairs need an upgrade. Bathroom needs a curtain.
It's quiet and peaceful, beautiful view and activities.
Wifi speed and TV services
Location is good, scenery is breathtaking
The potholes are totally off putting on your way to the venue - you constantly have to dodge holes and makes the drive very unpleasant, they can really do some maintenance on the roads and fill up the potholes (craters). Just a suggestion with regards to the braai area - the braai should be undercover - should it rain - you can still prepare your meal - there should also be a fully stocked convenience store on site in this way you don't always have to drive to go get something.
Excellent location, good value for money, friendly staff.
Wifi signal too weak
Beautiful location. Restful stay.
Not much
Parking distance from car accommodation very basic not even a small table in the bath room
Very orivate quiet surroundings
No DSTV or even own streaming functions available
Beautiful setting, well maintained. A lovely spot to relax and unwind.
WiFi was erratic.
Everything was clean and well kept. Kids absolutely enjoyed themselves.
Leaving at the end of our stay
The Resort is in an excellent location
nothing
Comfortable cabins, peaceful place with stunning views of the lake, mountains and waterfall close by. Options to hike nearby and nice pool with shade.Free kayaking available .Reasonably well stocked for self-catering needs.Good location ,close to restaurants and relatively close town.Good value for money
Wifi issues, one has to keep reconnecting. No network signal.Cabin could use maintainance ie floor planks and windows and funny smell from the bathroom
Nothing
It was a hassle to get someone at reception, 5 min after we eventually booked in the power went out now the power i dont have a problem with if it goes out, but there where no assistance provided by form of candle light torches or nothing when we went to discuss the power outage with the "receptionist" all he had to say was that the power is out everywhere and there is nothing that can be done except for wait for it to come back. To create a picture the place is located 20km outside of town so by nightfall it was pitch black no signal nothing. It can be a lovely place if just a little more effort is put into it
The resort is beautiful, the cabins are cozy and comfortable, with exceptional views. It's a great place to rest and recover after an overnight hike, or just escape from the everyday grind. It's definitely worth the trip. We'll definitely be back!
Clean, quiet, well managed, beautiful location, even wifi worked, on the 2nd day I saw the Elands :-)
The bungalow was very clean and comfortable especially for the price!
Balcony views Convenience store Games available Hiking
Houses facing the dam. Morning views are exceptional
Nothing
Everything!
The shower head in unit 14 needs to be changed 😊. And some wine glasses would be nice too.
The location is close to popular attractions, and the rooms are cleaned daily with fresh bedding and towels provided.
😒No cellphone network & slow WiFi – There is no mobile network coverage at the property. Although a WiFi code is provided, the internet speed is very slow and unreliable. 😒Poor service & unavailable reception – The reception area is not always staffed. With no cellphone network available, it is impossible to call or send a WhatsApp message in case of an emergency, which is very concerning. 😒No backup during power outages – There is no power backup system and no rechargeable lights provided during outages, leaving guests without lighting or support. 😒Overgrown vegetation – The vegetation has not been maintained, even around water sources and seating areas where guests are meant to relax. The overgrowth makes the area look neglected. 😒Unmaintained hiking trails – The hiking trails are not maintained and are no longer clearly marked, making them difficult or unsafe to use. Restroom supplies insufficient – Only one paper towel/tissue was available in the restroom, which is inadequate for guests.
I liked that the place was clean n tidy.
In my opinion, I would say that the couches in the lounge needs to be replaced as they were uncomfortable, and worn out. There should at least be a torch in the cabin, because of the power outages.
All good
Too far outside Underberg
A rare find! . Rustic no- frills chalets in a peaceful setting with stupendous views and at a more than reasonable price for what you get! Great for a casual elaxing stay in beautiful surroundings and plenty for the family to do (games room, pool, walks and kayaking on small dam) Chalets need a bit of TLC but new owners are updating. Well worth a visit for nature lover!
Cell reception not good but it didn't bother me! WiFi available.
Everything. Manager was great! It was actually a rainy weekend and our vehicle got stuck in the mud. He was kind enough to have a tractor tow us out. Super grateful! Rooms were amazing, private and there is a little shop close by that sold almost everything. This was my second time staying there. Will definitely be back!
Everything was great
The location is beautiful
The blankets had stains, were not clean and in the morning there was no one to assist, we knocked at reception and host was no show. Time for check out, no one was available to take the keys.
My unit was self‐catering and it was fully equipped more than my expectation
Improve on the entry road surface and create easy excessibilty for unit parking bays
Its located in the best spot surrounded by the mountains and lakes in front. Wish the next time I go there, there will be lots of fish in the lake
Je recommande à 200% ! L'endroit est calme et reposant ! Le logement était très bien équipé, confortable et très propre. Le cadre est exceptionnel.
Petit bémol : Le wifi ne fonctionnait pas à l'intérieur du logement
The couch was very uncomfortable, and the outdoor table was very unstable. Twice we put our coffee on the table, and both times it tilted!
The views are magnificent. The canoes 🛶 are loved by all the children.
Beds are a bit hard. Some chalets need a bit more TLC
The setting within the mountains

Location is spectacular... peaceful with nature all around you
Bathroom needs an update..
Our family of six had a wonderful time. The location was so beautiful and peaceful, allowing for a quiet and relaxing time. We also enjoyed a variety of activities: Waterfall hikes, sunrise hikes, kayaking on the dam, the game room, the pool, and more... We will definitely be back.
