Bamboo Mountain Farm

The location was amazing, beautiful views and waking up with a mountain view was breathtaking. The farmhouse was amazing and well equipped with all essentials. Thank you for the experience of a lifetime.

The indoor fire place kept us warm in the evenings, fully furnished and equipped, beautiful and serene farm stead, hiking trail, exceptional views.

The bed in the second room has seen better days and could do with an upgrade. An additional ensuite toilet would be an advantage.

Wonderful location, very nice cottage. Nice fireplace. The views are amazing, you can start hiking from your backyard. Nice shower. Little attentions like cookies.

The fireplace is the only heating available. No problem, since you can nicely sit around it. However, winter mornings can be cold. It’s part of the fun, but be aware.

Quiet, safe, secluded and peaceful. Everything was so beautifully thought through and Cindy was a delight.

A veranda would have been lovely… so perhaps our next stay should be in the farmhouse!?

The hikes, the dam was beautiful, the cows were available for viewing and the kids loved it.. the beds had heated blankets and the fireplace was modern. The onsite staff were friendly. The room had games and puzzles and some history about the family. The stars!!!!

The upstairs didn’t have a door, it would’ve provided some privacy.

Peaceful and cottage had all the amenities needed. The shower was awesome! Hot water never ran out and was instantly hot

There was no tv! Af first we thought it a deal breaker but turns out conversation filled that gap. Lol!

Beautiful location. Kitted out with plenty of all you ever need for family gatherings. Perfect rustic comfortable farm stay for a big family and pets.

Staff quarters were adjacent to the farmhouse. Very close and in view. This took away from the privacy factor for us as a family, and reduced the feeling of getting away from it all.

The location is unrivaled with its views and surrounding nature. The house itself is the picture perfect farmhouse anyone could dream of.

The stairs can be challenging for night time bathroom trips. Perhaps a small night light on the stairs?

Perfect location along the Drak Gardens Road. Expansive lawn and tended garden. Neatly mowed pathways allow for gentle walks around the property. Dam for fishing, swimming, canoeing. Cottage is really cosy and well stocked for a most comfortable visit.

An absolute gem in the mountains....

Cindy is wonderful. A very comfortable cottage with lots of little extras. It was hard to tell if we were staying in the house or cottage. Laundry is charged for by the load.

Great location. Communicative host, very helpful. House was much bigger than expected and really well kitted out. Kitchen especially great for making food for a large group. Lovely views. Clean bathroom Plenty of board games and great books.

Honestly everything there's nothing not to like about this place. The view from the front porch is spectacular. The house itself is a self catering dream it has everything besides a TV which I'm very happy about. There's a beautiful dam and a mountain behind the house. Take your pick.

The caretakers' rondavel. It's pretty close but it's nothing a bamboo fence can't fix. Just for the added privacy.

Loved staying here! The place was super clean with an amazing view right at the foot of the mountain - waking up to those epic peaks every morning was wow! Right next door is a nature reserve, and we often hear the roars of wild animals — so cool! Our favorite spot was the lakeside BBQ area - perfect for sunset grilling. Definitely a unique stay if you love nature adventures!

we loved literally everything, extremely well equipped cottage with more than you need, unbelievably clean, peaceful and Cindy is just amazing. we wish we could live there permanently.

Exceptional venue. Situated on a hill overlooking the Drak Gardens valley, expansive views of the main escarpment as well as Bamboo Mountain to one side and Garden Castle to the other. Easy access to all the local attractions. We stayed in Fergies Cottage, four-bedded. I wouldn't describe it as luxurious, but it's extremely comfortable, clean and pleasant. (The adjacent Farmhouse is substantially bigger and more opulent.) The service from the hosts and the local supervisor, Cindy, is excellent; extremely efficient and all done in such a friendly fashion. Property is well-maintained and backs on to the wilderness area, and we regularly saw eland, baboons and grey rhebuck.

The cottage was well equipped. Beds were comfy. Enjoyed the fireplace and the beautiful mountain view.

When we arrived all the windows were open, and there were lots of bugs and insects in the cottage.

Located at the foothills of the Southern Drakensberg Mountains, the Bamboo Mountain Farm is a serene and incredibly beautiful location to simply relax, unwind or go on fun adventures into nature! The loved the trails nearby which afforded almost 360 degree views of the mountain ranges, the refreshing swimming hole and the comfort of the farmhouse itself. The accommodation has everything you will need for a great stay and is cosy enough that it feels like home away from home. I really enjoyed my stay here and would highly recommend.

The place was very clean, spacious and beautiful garden and views.

Sound of Music setting ! Fergie's cottage was so well equipped with real thoughtfulness. Gorgeous beds with snuggliest duvets. Loved the dam for water fun and tranquil picnics. And snow on our front doorstep as a welcome !

Going home

Wow this cottage is so nice. Very clean and comfortable. The kitchen is also well equipped. Location is the middle of the mountains :)

Note that since it's a farm in the mountains, to arrive to it, one needs about 20 minutes driving without seeing a shop.

The views and scenery were exceptional. The house was well appointed and had everything we needed and more for the most relaxing and comfortable weekend away.

The property manager Cindy was extremely rude and unwelcoming. She seemed preoccupied and not wanting to have to deal with guests. The place wasn't clean. All the crockery had to be washed before use as there were dead flies and insects everywhere. The windows were dirty, and we couldn't use the Weber BBQ as it obviously hadn't been cleaned for a long time.

Home feel and the warmth of the property as well as the cleanliness The beautiful views and quietness of the area. The kids also loved it. The host was very helpful and I was happy with the continuous up dates.

We really loved it and want to come again in 205 - wonderful mountains, the sons climbed Rhino Peak, the dam was great for the grandchildren and all was very relaxing

Cindy was a pleasure, very helpful and easy going. We even went on a hike together to look for flowers. We also loved her puppies.

A piece of paradise nestled under the mountain. Quiet and peaceful with amazing views of the Drakensberg mountains. A superb farmhouse with everything you need and more to make your stay feel like a home away from home. Cindy was available to help us with anything we needed whenever we needed it. Just fantastic. We would have stayed longer if we could have. There is nowhere else we would want to stay in the Underberg...

My holiday was too short 😭

The property is a good size, large garden area, very spacious with breathtaking views. A secluded lake is literally a stones throw away. The interior is very homely and welcoming. The owners have kitted it out with plenty of cookware, kitchen appliance’s, games and seating inside and out. We were provided with enough firewood to last the whole week. There was even free WiFi in the unit. Cindy was a great host and always made sure we were taken care of.

I can’t really say there was anything we didn’t like.
