Highly recommend this property. Delicious lunch at hotel just a street below with friendly staff. A 10 km drive to Nugget Point lighthouse/walk a must do. Great views from there also.

Iy’s a small community in the Catlins but it was so fortunate that we found Sandy’s pub and restaurant. Great service and food to match. try their “Surf and Turf: or their Flounder. Both highly recommended - but book otherwise you may be disappointed!

Reviewed Feb 22, 2026Wenn man aufwacht und vom Bett aus die Sonne über dem Ozean aufgehen sehen kann, ist das allein schon die volle Punktzahl wert. Also die Lage ist extraklasse, die Ausstattung gut, alles picobello sauber und der Vermieter super hilfsbereit.
Es gab nichts zu bemängeln.

Leaking oil from air vent over stove I'm guessing this is because the bbq was low on gas so it was faster to cook indoors ( not many places to eat out,and not good quality food)so accommodation cooking is a must we wiped up the dripping oil and it was dripping again a day later,and the next unit kept peeping over like we were not allowed there as we had a smaller unit so disappointing as we stayed here for a night this time 4 nights and was totally different

With the other apartment being so close and having a shared outdoor area, privacy can be lacking at times.

Reviewed Oct 21, 2025Het appartement ligt op een fantastische plek in Kaka Point, met 180 graden uitzicht over de oceaan. Vooraf hadden we een mailtje ontvangen met instructies hoe de voordeur sleutel uit het kluisje bij de deur te halen. Naast beide appartementen is precies genoeg parkeergelegenheid voor twee auto's. De kamer en de badkamer van appartement 2 zijn heel ruim. De kitchenette bevat alles dat je nodig hebt om zelf eten te bereiden.
Om bij appartement 2 te komen, loop je langs de ramen van appartement 1. Voor ons was dat geen probleem, maar het lijkt me voor die huurders niet heel fijn. De twee appartementen zijn aan elkaar vast gebouwd en daardoor ietwat gehorig.

Kaka Point is an underrated place on typical New Zealand travel itineraries. I recommend it and recommend spending at least two nights here.

Reviewed May 29, 2025The view was wonderful, we opened the window slightly at night and you could hear the sea all night which made it relaxing. The unit was amazingly clean. The owner was lovely. A nice firm bed and we spent the day driving through the Catlin’s where our unit was handy to all these facilities.
