Reviewed Jun 5, 2026Very friendly and helpful hosts. Very quiet area, free off-street parking available if you have a vehicle, only five minutes from the library if you're walking. Many very good restaurants within a 10-minute walk. Excellent public bus service, covering many of the great beaches and a number of the vineyards. Waiheke is truly a gem!
The Fullers bus services provide access to several vineyards not covered by the public bus services, but they are quite expensive.

A 5-6 min walk gave access to the great bus service which transported us around the island with minimal cost. Walks available from our doorstep as well around the island with use of bus service.

Reviewed Dec 15, 2025I loved everything about Jake’s Place! Set in a quiet road but just a short walk to the main street in the town and right across the road from the beach. Jake’s Place is a lovely apartment attached to the owners house. It has everything you need to make your stay just perfect! It also has a great view of the sea from the decking. Heather and Alistair are wonderful hosts! I had a really lovely, relaxing stay.

It was clean and tidy, had soft towels, a comfortable bed, beach towels available, a coffee machine, flowers on the tables, a huge selection of DVDs, was close to the beach and Te Ara Hua walking trail, had views of the water and was close to some beautiful wineries. Hosts Heather and Alastair were friendly, accommodating and very responsive to our requests - lovely people! Waiheke Island is a wonderful place to visit - so much to see and do.

Reviewed Jan 17, 2025We really enjoyed the friendliness of the hosts, they went out of their way to support us, at arrival, during our stay and upon departure. The location is excellent. It is a little out-of-the-way, just a short stroll from the bus stop, but equally just a short stroll down to the beach for a swim, while having excellent views from the patio. Sun in the morning, some shade in the late afternoon. The apartment has all the amenities one can think of. Tidy and clean and friendly.
It really is more about expectations. If you are particularly picky about the comfort of the beds and chairs you may flag it. It is not unreasonable.

I loved the fact that it had a coffee pod machine! The location was just a short walk along the beach to the town centre. Our hosts were very lovely and so accommodating. Reviewed Dec 2, 2024Location on a quiet street a short walk from Oneroa was amazing. The views from the balcony, living room and bedroom were amazing and lovely to wake up to each day. The bed was comfy, the bathroom large and well stocked, washing machine / dryer / clothesline fantastic and having a fully equipped kitchen with a lot of pantry items on hand was wonderful - we wanted to relax after a hectic few weeks and Jake's Place was perfect.

It has an excellent location, a lovely view, great patio, and the place had everything you could think you needed or didn't even know you needed while traveling abroad. I stayed at several places on my trip to New Zealand and Jake's place was the most detailed with such lovely hosts. I wanted to stay longer. And I fell in love with Waiheke Island. Easy to walk to the beach, town, wineries, tramping tracks, and close to bus stop. I traveled solo and felt so incredibly safe.
