Gieters Gruttertje, Vintage stay in the village centre

Very lovely quirky apartment with lots of space and on the doorstep of the stunning village of Giethoorn. Parking at the property was a bonus. The owners sent clear instructions on the day (albeit I didn’t see the email which was my fault) and there was a brilliant link to a video that showed us the layout of the apartment and use of equipment. The apartment was extremely well equipped . We loved the small seating area around the back at the side of a small river. All in all we would recommend a stay here

La maison est vraiment centrale dans le village et est très belle. La déco est unique, très sympa et tout a été pensé avec soin. Grand espace et grande cuisine qui donne envie de l'utiliser. Petit coin à l'extérieur très cosy. Très bonne communication avec l'hôte. Parking à disposition. Nous ne sommes restées qu'une nuit et n'avons pas eu l'occasion de profiter de tous les équipements (jeux, projecteur,...)

La salle de bain n'est pas pratique.

Location was great. Host was responsive. Some of the facilities were plentiful and very good.

The property requires renovation. In particular, the bathroom and the douche were inconvinient.

We really enjoyed our stay. The accommodation was uniquely decorated and had a charming atmosphere. Its location right by the canal, with a lovely outdoor seating area overlooking the water, made it even more special. We would happily stay here again.

The tranquility and beauty of nature, of course we will return with much love.

What a charming property! Easy to access and very comfortable, it made for an excellent visit to Giethoorn.

It is not fashioned in the modern mode, but rather imbued with a classical, nostalgic grace. The light is soft and refined, casting a romantic glow, while the space unfolds with generous ease. One may find a king or queen-sized bed set within an open and airy great hall, or a double bed nestled quietly in a more intimate chamber, each arrangement possessing its own quiet poetry. Our two young children were especially enchanted by this place, for here they encountered a sense of novelty and beauty unlike anywhere else—a gentle departure into a different, more tender world. Small rivers encircle the surroundings, and to stroll along its banks after supper is a pleasure most serene, a delight for both heart and spirit.

Perfect location to explore the beautiful village. The space was perfect for a family of 4 and it was wonderfully decorated. We enjoyed the hot tub room during rainy days and enjoyed cooking meals in the well appointed kitchen.

The AC could not be put off. It only went to 22 degrees so nights go very very cold.

The owner’s hospitality was outstanding, and everything in the property was wonderful. Every day we discover a new charm in its details. The antique decoration of this home matches the vibe of this breathtaking village. The location is perfect! And it has an access by car so you don’t have to drag your luggages around. Would definitely recommend this place to all my family and friends, and will come again!

Maybe you should consider the space if you are a large group of people (3 or more), because it has no closer bedrooms (only 1 and very tiny) the other queen bed is in the open living area.

We requested the Host to setup the 22 degree temp as we were travelling with kid and they did. it was warm and Comfortable. Instruction and Communication over chat & video was amazing. Everything was explained in the video very well, Much Appreciated.

We didn't like Open Bedroom placement , it was't like a proper bedroom Room, Since it was Open we didn't like it, Could be better if we would have a closed Bedroom Similar like Kitchen. - Also bathroom were average , feels like renovation , there were huge black marks on floor.

Wonderful locations close to the main canal.

The location is just beautiful, we enjoyed walking around, taking a boat trip or biking in the surroundings. Also the house is very interesting, cozy and large, I was surprised by the equipment - high quality home cinema, kitchen or a separate room for children. The homeowners are nice and response immediately and clearly to your communication.

The shower has no barrier around it so you have to clean the water around it to get to WC with dry feet.

Everything was perfect. The town is incredible but the little glass of wine in the backyard, the proximity and most important, the communications. Every time I had a question, it was an instant reply. Thanks for making our one day trip an unforgettable experience

It was one of my days in Bethlehem in all respects, and the owner of the house was a respectable man, very kind and very cooperative

The location was perfect, close to everything including the bus stop to continue our journey to Gouda. The house is on the main canal so it was very easy to find anything we wanted. The house itself is so charming and cute. It’s right on the corner so there are canals on three sides of the property. The decor of the house is so cute with lots of space. We enjoyed having a glass or two of wine outside by the canal. Very relaxing and enjoyable stay.

Loved everything but thought the shower room let it down. Shower that didn’t spray out and was difficult to get the right temperature, basin that did not have hot water at all and found when showering floor was slightly slippy!

The place was super cozy and cute, very central. Had TVs everywhere. The Jacuzzi is a must!

Met on arrival by hosts who gave us a tour. Had doughnuts left for us. Accommodation was amazing. Very quirky. Own little private nook on the canal. Canoe you can borrow. Right in the centre but very quiet at night when all tourists have gone. Projector to watch films.

if you’re visiting from a country where you use visa/Mastercard/contactless then be aware this won’t work in a lot of places in the Netherlands. organize a physical Maestro card or get cash beforehand!

The location is superb. Walkable distance to supermarket. Hosts are super nice and helpful. The breakfast was very very nice! We enjoyed our stay here very much.

This is one of the coolest places we've ever stayed, and we wished we'd stayed longer than 1 night! The location is amazing. To be in central Giethoorn but also to be able to park right beside the house is great. The building is unique. It seemed to be a former barn with very high ceiling and a unique structure, that could have been a hipster bar at some point. There was a 'bar' in the large main living area. Being large and open-plan, it was very cool but not really cosy. The projector screen (watchable from the main bed) and entertainment system was amazing for watching films, and the hot tub in the separate cabin was also very cool, with a TV and sound system. The breakfast (made to order and delivered that morning on a trolley) was beautifully presented and so tasty. Our hosts were very friendly and helpful, providing advice and being available for quesitons.

The hot tub, though amazing, was an expensive extra (50 euro for 1 night of use - though this was clearly communicated). We had to pay for this, along with breakfast, in cash. The description of '2 bedrooms' is incorrect. The main bed is in the large living area, the next largest bed is in a cupboard (a Dutch bed), and the smallest bed is like a padded bench in the kitchen. We made it work (putting our toddler's travel cot in the kitchen, so we could spend time in the living area that evening) but it wasn't ideal. There were some ants on the table in the main living area (around the meringues provided for us!)

We liked everything with this property! I think it is the best place to stay in Giethoorn! The house is super nicely decorated, has everything you need and more. It is very spacious (you could not really tell from the photos). It is accessible by car (that's why it was better for us than other B&Bs in the canals) although it is in the center and close to everything. The hosts are extremely nice people too! We would absolutely recommend staying at this place and would gladly return.

There is nothing that we did not like.

Everything, it was beautifully decorated, had literally everything to make it a comfortable stay. The host was very nice and even baked us a welcome cake. Wow, highly recommendable.

Fantastic location, amazing host, wonderful property. Don't hesitate to book! Also, definitely book the jacuzzi!! We had a cozy and relaxing evening and the home cinema was the cherry on top.

I think the village of Gierthoorn would have been better in the summer :)
