The location was breathtaking everything was amazing.Close to town and the view was amazing over looking town and the sea.

Everything was amazing.

The place is very warmly decorated, with books and games provided for children. There is a very large balcony with a direct sea view, and the host has thoughtfully provided a telescope so you can enjoy the scenery in the distance.

The house and facilities are a bit outdated, but everything is kept very clean. However, it’s somewhat far from the beach and the town centre. There is a walking track nearby that leads to the beach, but it’s unlit at night, so you’ll need a torch to find your way back.

The house and view were exceptional

Property was a bit cold when we arrived due to a blast of unseasonable weather which also hindered our activities in Kaikoura, but once this was resolved the “boho chic” definitely grew on us.

Photo showing sea from the patio is a little bit misleading as you are up on the headland, with a great view but further from the water than you might expect.

One bathroom with no separate toilet. Would benefit from a table and chairs for outside to enjoy the view even more.

The view. The rest was a big DISAPPOINTMENT

Hot air conditioning wasn't working. No electricity in the power plugs of the bathroom (hence no heaters, no shaving, no drying hair with mirror). Barbecue was AWFULLY dirty and oily. 20min cleaning before using it. Found hair in one the bed (previous guest I guess), so what does the cleaning company do? Rust in the bath tub, stove is from another era (or perhaps that's the "vintage" feeling). Owner didn't care responding messages via booking platform stating he didn't have wifi (what about phone data...).

The view was on of the best in the region. Six coupled adults easily fitted, there was plenty of comfy seating, a big deck and a big dining table.

While the Bach comfortably slept 6 coupled adults we found having one bathroom/loo combo a challenge when everyone was getting ready to go out. The kitchen was quite dated and some cupboard doors and draws were hard to open and close.

we had great difficulty getting into the lockbox. we are familiar with lockboxes as we have one at home.

Older style house but was very clean and comfortable located higher up which afforded great sea views. All rooms were spacious and had a great old fashion bath.

Little communication hiccup with the hosts getting instructions where to find the key.

The view over the bay was stunning and star gazing from the deck amazing. Was spacious and beds were comfortable,

No information booklet The house is very dated and could do with some TLC. BBQ was dirty Cooker hood needed cleaning very greasy and there were cobwebs and spiders behind the curtains in the bathroom. A burn on the carpet in lounge and none of the cutlery, dishes and plates matched. Was like the China section in an op shop!

Location and amenities are superb. Was given the wrong code for lockbox but was able to call and get that sorted quickly.

Lovely house with good views

Poor communication. Was given wrong wifi password. Unhappy teenagers. Had to drive into town to find a phone box to phone host as they were not replying to my messages

Great views and location with a walking track into town nearby. Bed was very comfortable and instructions were clear about how to get access to the unit. Parking is directly outside of the unit. Clean and tidy with a 'Batch' Vibe. Wi-fi was good.

Improvement could be made in the kitchen area - appliances sufficient for heating food for 2 people. Was a bit wary about using appliances on a standalone unit, but there is a microwave on the bench.

The Bach was lovely, clean and tidy and the view was spectacular, forever changing with the weather. Very close to walking tracks and town centre. We stayed for 3 nights and it was perfect.

I did find the sliding door onto the deck very difficult to open, it was very hard to slide. Apart from that everything was good.

Location and view was excellent for our needs and all the facilities that a family needs were available

The view was everything we hoped for in a warm and cosy home.

Nice open plan layout. Quite old fashioned , but in a quaint and charming way. It did have a great view when the sea must lifted.

The initial impression from the outside was that it was in need of a bit of tlc. There was no information whatsoever in the property about the local area and I had to phone up for the WiFi code.

Great elevated location with views of the mountains and out to sea. Hot tub on the deck to soak and admire the views. Quirky decor and small kitchenette. Plenty of room.

There was a draft that came in the main entrance door which is also the acess to the bedroom. The lock on the door was also a little challenging and needs some maintenance.

The big windows that allowed us to see the beautiful view. The patio where we spent time relaxing. The house was cosy. The bathroom was spotless.

The mattresses have seen better days.

Very nice place, incredibly clean and tidy. Loved the retro decor. All other reviews commenting on op-shop style don't understand what the host has managed to do here, it is fantastic. View is perfect especially in the morning.

Only one, and I'm affraid at this price point it's a dealbreaker..... The bed is not comfortable, an innersprung old mattress just doesn't fit the bill here. Change it for a proper, new pocketspring and you're a ten, just like that.

There is nothing not to like about 'A Room With A View'. You couldn't get a better view of the ocean and snow capped mountains. The apartment was very clean and felt just like home. Beautifully furnished and spacious. Stunning sunrises from the back deck. The perfect place to unwind and base yourself while exploring beautiful Kaikoura Great communication with the host Will definitely be staying here again, highly recommend!

It’s not called a room with a few for nothing, we’ve stayed at a few places the last couple of weeks and I booked for the views, would have been nice to stay a little longer… next time 🤞

Backing out the drive at night it was very dark, but then no need to ruin the darkness for the star gazing

Seaview is absolutely great

The fan heater is malfunction. The facilities are quite old and the cleanliness of the water boiler is not good at all.

We rented this and the gallery and they were amazing! Will be coming back for sure, awesome spot and awesome comfortable clean houses

On a good day the view would be absolutely incredible, like most of Kaikoura, it's a stunning part of NZ. The weather was absolutely horrendous so I only had the view for 45 mins but that was of course a risk you take when travelling and no fault of the venue/hosts.

An incredible view but in the middle of winter the place itself was freezing. There was a faux plug in 'fire' heater which pretty much did nothing and an oil heater which is not capable of heating that space at all. It would have been nice if I'd been asked my arrival time so that the heating was already on. I think there were opportunities to have small nice touches in place rather than all of the rules that you are told pre check in. For example, there was a plunger but no coffee to put in it. Those things make a big difference especially in a tiny cold and very dated bach which is effectively what this place is. I went to bed early as there were electric blankets, the only way to warm up, and checked out early as there was no reason to stay. A view should not be the only draw card to a place so overall, my stay was a disappointment.

Where you park the car needs to have an outside light. The power box kept tripping and it would turn WiFi and the electric log heater off.

Lovely views, funky retro vibe (even the appliances). Overlook of the town and bays is just a quick walk up the road.

Full views can really only be seen if standing on the deck. There is a patio set and an outdoor tub, but views are limited by the bushes (but the bushes also provide some privacy). Cooking options were hot plates, but they looked quite old so we opted to just use the microwave.

Facilties were great, bed super comfy and the views were amazing. We had the studio and it was enormous.

5 star view, 3 star accommodation. Furnishings tired, the place needs a good facelift. Bathroom appears new and updated, but the lounge and kitchen area needs new coverings and appliances. There are no instructions or useful information tips to make the stay smoother. We had difficulty accessing the property, as could not get hold of the lockbox code. It’s a good base with a fantastic view and Kaikoura has a lot to offer, and easy to get down to.

The property has a rustic charm which added to the experience, all the amenities you would need. Great views of Kaikoura. Easy access to the town for restaurants drive or walking. Wonderful stay.

I think there was a typo error for the lock box key code but we got it sorted.

Great views, close to town. Had everything we needed. Really enjoyed our time there. Short distance to restaurants and grocery. Got to see the seals at the rocks just past the beaches.

Stunning location above South Bay with a view to die for - genuinely one of the best views I've ever woken up to, which made the booking worth it. Well appointed and convenient home-away-from-home additions meant we could relax and enjoy our time.

There were a few hiccups getting into the place initially, but solved reasonably easily. Internet was a little slow, but no big deal.

Amazing views, very clean and a well equipped kitchen

Not for us sadly, all though the views were amazing it was far too windy whilst we were there to sit out, bbq or use the bath. The accommodation had an op/charity shop smell due to the ‘vintage’ furniture. We are not opposed to vintage (I run a vintage clothes shop), there were some nice pieces but the sofas were very uncomfortable and the kitchen wasn’t fit for purpose, the pans were useless, crockery & glassware ok enough but the hobs and fridge felt unsafe to use. Very disappointed as it was one of the more expensive accommodation we chose.

A mix of modern (kitchen) and vintage would go along way to improve the accommodation

Property was the best we stayed at yet on our journey to New Zealand. Very beautiful and comfortable.!!! The tv already had streaming apps like Netflix without having to sign in and the heaters were perfect. We would rent it again!!

Beautiful view. We loved relaxing at the house and spent time reading and looking out the window.

The wind blew the plug off the drain while the tub was filling so we didn’t get to enjoy a bath. The hot water all drained out and we didn’t want to wait a few hours before it would be hot again

The view and it was a full moon just perfect! We easily walked to town just 25 minutes to access restaurants. It was beautiful and I feel the photos don’t do it justice. Tania was lovely and very helpful . Thank you

loved the upstairs layout, loved the view, well appointed kitchen 3rd bedroom in a seperate apartment downstairs which could be problematic for anyone with mobility issues

Location is great. Whole property was fine, and Tania was a great help. WiFi at the property is/was not adequate for today's market. Not sure what the problem was, and I hate to endorse an "Elon Musk Product" but she might most-easily solve her problem with a StarLink Setup.

Beautiful location overlooking Kaikoura and the sea. Decks lost the late sun but we enjoyed the sun from the garden. So much effort went into the decor of the property which was very much appreciated

The view is awesome. The bathroom was clean and the water pressure excellent. Excellent location, near to the encounter office and the town centre.

The TV was not working. Also we could not turn on the heater in the balcony.
