The steps to get to it

Oia Mare Villas is set in a spectacular location overseeing the Aegean Sea with a brilliant view of the setting sun! The villas are spacious, clean, and comfortable. There's a kitchenette equipped with a fridge, a kettle, tea bags, instant coffee packets, crockery and cutlery. The bathroom was clean and spacious, with toiletries provided. Our villa was air-conditioned to counter the heat. All in all, we had a very relaxing stay.

Climbing the steps to get to the main street level was a test for the knee and ankle joints! We had to be extra careful on the cobblestones to avoid slipping. Fortunately, the Oia Mare Villas provides porters to cart your luggage to the street level.

La chambre (mais c'est plutôt un petit appartement à deux étages) est absolument magnifique ! Pas besoin d'air conditionné, la fraicheur et l'energie de la roche ainsi que les matériaux nobles utilisés et le travail des architectes extraordinaires font toute la différence ! Le lit est du style "vous dormez au paradis". La vue est incroyable ! Quelques restaurants tout prêt que vous n'allez pas oublier. Le personnel d'une très grande amabilité. Qualité-prix top !

Connection WiFi pas bonne. Pas assez d'ombre pour se relaxer devant la chambre. Domage que la piscine n'était pas ouverte le nuit.

The staff here are absolutely fantastic. The view is amazing. You are right on the sea above Ammoudhi bay and with a spectacular view of the sunset-especially when you go up to the private Oia Mare viewing space.

I hate to do this but-Breakfast was poor, we skipped it most mornings and went to a restaurant. They have food available during the day if you are staying around the pool-wouldn't rate it much

Superb! The staff is super nice and helpful, the location is spectacular though you need to be aware that there are lots of tiny stairs to go up and down. Also you cannot take your own luggage as it is impossible to carry. The hotel provides a porter that helps with this, please make sure that you tip the guy well as it is a hard task. The rooms are super comfortable and clean, all with white decor and with the best views that you can imagine. The breakfast is excellent and there is a nice pool with sunbeds overlooking the ocean. I highly recommend it!

The only positive aspect was the beautiful view.

Unfortunately, I strongly do not recommend Oia Mare Hotel. The Wi-Fi simply does not work properly. Because of this, we were unable to join an important business meeting. A Wi-Fi range extender is a very inexpensive and basic solution, yet either the hotel has not installed one or the existing system does not work. We were also deeply upset by the hotel’s attitude towards the stray cats. There is no designated place with food and fresh water for them in the scorching heat and guests are not allowed to feed them either. We found this treatment extremely insensitive. Communication was another serious problem. Unfortunately, only 1-2 workers can speak with very limited English, we encountered at reception could communicate adequately in English, so even basic conversations became very difficult and we had to rely on gestures and extremely limited communication. Finally, the breakfast was incredibly mediocre, with very limited quality and variety. Considering the non-functioning Wi-Fi, poor communication, disappointing breakfast, and distressing attitude towards animals, I definitely would not stay here again and cannot recommend this hotel.

La vue sur la Caldeira est magnifique. La chambre était très propre et très belle. La literie très confortable. Super rooftop (non aménagé) pour le coucher de soleil.

Trop cher pour ce que c’est : le petit déjeuner est beaucoup trop simple (avec ces chaleurs, rien n’est conservé au frais) et la plupart des tables sont en plein soleil. Nous avions la chambre Honey moon avec bain à remous extérieur. Pas de parasol et quand on en a demandé un, il n’a pas été possible de nous en mettre un à disposition. Personnel pas très sympathique ni à l écoute. Dommage également qu’il manquait les coussins pour le bed du jacuzzi. Il y avait des verres à disposition qui étaient fendus et qui n’ont pas été remplacé. Le savon dans la salle de bain était vide. Toutes ces petites choses font que l hôtel n’est pas à la hauteur du prix proposé. Nous avons été déçus vu le prix qu’on a payé et pour le standing proposé.

The staff were absolutely lovely and made us feel so welcome, but the location was the real standout. It was genuinely the stuff of dreams — absolutely breathtaking and perfectly situated, while still being right in the heart of Oia. An incredible location that made our stay feel really special.

There were a few downsides to our stay. While the breakfast was good, the other food and snack options were limited, disappointing and overpriced for what you get. Given the number of excellent places to eat nearby, I wouldn’t recommend eating at the hotel outside of breakfast. Our room was also surprisingly noisy, both from the surrounding area and within the hotel, and an emergency exit sign was excessively bright at night, particularly given the small size of the room. The biggest disappointment was that the hotel was advertised as adults-only, which was one of the reasons we specifically chose it. However, on our first day there was a child playing with inflatables in the small pool. I have four children myself and have absolutely nothing against children enjoying themselves, but in such a small hotel, with a small pool and only around 8–10 sun loungers, it significantly changes the atmosphere. If you specifically book an adults-only property for a quiet, relaxing break, you reasonably expect it to be adults-only. None of these issues reflect on the staff, who were lovely, but the noise and the fact that the adults-only experience wasn’t as advertised were disappointing.

Emplacement exceptionnel avec terrasse privée donnant sur la caldeira. Piscine incroyable s’incrustant à l’intérieur de la falaise. Chambre très propre et bien équipée. Le lieu est magique particulièrement au coucher du soleil. A noter toutefois, comme cela est précisé par l’hôtel, qu’il faut être en bonne santé. De nombreuses marches à gravir et à descendre au moindre déplacement mais ça fait partie du charme de ce site d’exception.

Le côut du transfert du port, 60 €, quasi obligatoire à moins de louer une voiture. On nous a proposé le même tarif pour le départ vers l’aéroport pourtant plus proche. On a finalement eu un taxi à 40 € via Booking.com. Parfaitement à l’heure.

There are no words to describe how much we enjoyed our 2 nights at Oia Mare. We appreciated everything - the incredibly welcoming, kind and helpful staff, the delicious breakfast, the fabulous pool and hot tub, the location, and of course the breathtakingly amazing views. We were also very very pleased we chose the transfer option from the airport all the way to the hotel, with all our luggage. We would rate Oia Mare as a 10 star if we could and hope one day to return!

There is nothing not to like. We were very sad we didn't book more than 2 nights!

The porter meeting you at the top to guide you and carry luggage to room. A very spacious and clean room with two separate balconies with great views.

Not a dislike but people with mobility issues may find getting to and from the hotel an issue. That is not hotels fault, just the caldera in Santorini.

Too many steps

Well appointed room with everything you need, and very large, lovely upsatirs seating area and balcony and great views, plus the large deck area with jacuzzi. right in the heart of Oia, but away from the hussle and bustle of the numerous cruise ships during the day.

Service around the pool, breakfast area and the amount of steps to get to the place. Tip: use the shorter, steeper route to get in/out of your room - its much quicker and easier than advertised. Not suitable for anyone with walking difficulties.

Everything about this accommodation is phenomenal. The view is amazing, caldera view and sea view. The room was specious, clean, with all toilet and kitchen neccesserities, beautiful and comfortable bed. Breakfast with varied food, very delicious. Hotel pool very lovely, comfortable sunbeds, you get the pool towels. Even you have a possibility to use indoor bathroom and shower that is convinient if you have free time after room check out and to spent the whole day near pool. The hotel staff is helpful, especcially the luggage carrier named Ali who is so kind person. The whole experience in this accommodation is worth of money. Every reccommendation to this place.

The staff!! Literally the kindest people! The place was magical, shout out to Ali the strongest man on earth! The front desk, the chef, the bartender! All were so amazing! We’re missing our sweet Lucy cat & babies who visited us daily.. I hope they remember us when we come back ;)

I needed to update my review to give thanks to the incredible staff at Oia Mare Villas. They are incredibly attentive and helpful, making sure that we were comfortable in every way. Our room was more than amazing - it had panoramic views of the caldera, which could be enjoyed from the private jaccuzi or the upstairs deck. This was a hotel that we never wanted to leave. Every aspect of the hotel - the room, the location, and the view exceeded our expectaions. The breakfast was exceptional and could be taken on the deck overlooking gorgeous views. The beautiful cliffs of Santorini means there are are a lot of stairs to traverse no matter where you go, but the hotel staff here pampers you with a porter to make transporting your luggage a dream at both arrival and departure. We had an early morning am departure on our last day before breakfast hour, but we were so touched that the staff had left a tray of food for our departure the evening before to be sure we would still have nourishment in the wee hours of the morning. That is simply just one example of the special gestures that the staff would make. The location also wasn't just special for the views, but it was in a prime spot to access both the castle and Ammoudi Bay. Oia has so much to offer, and this hotel was an absolutely beautiful and romantic place to enjoy it all. My wife and I will always reminisce about our evening dips in the hot tub with cocktails or a glass of wine. It was so nice to venture out for the day or for dinner and then get to return and spend time in this dreamy and secluded cave suite.

Hard to get too and from the property with all the steep steps. No water bottles provided daily considering you have to walk up and down steep steps just to go get heavy bottle of water and considering how much you are paying just to stay here with breakfast only - most hotel 3 x less in price provide you 2 small bottles of water daily. So I was actually shocked!! On top of that the owner of the hotel has instilled strict rules that customers cannot take back water provided in the breakfast buffet to drink inside the hotel. Appalling! We actually got told off for this!! Hot Tub is not the best at all. Works for 1 minute just creating small bubbles and does not really function as a hot tub which was sad to see. Was nice to sit inside it and enjoy the views from your bedroom balcony though as it was warm water, so nice to sit there when the weather got cooler.

We were on our honeymoon and the room far exceeded our expectations, the view was amazing did not need to go anywhere to see the most beautiful sun sunset. The room was perfect as was our hot tub, I would have liked it a little hotter but it was nice. The breakfast was good. Oh room service was amazing as well

Wir durften fünf Nächte in einem traumhaften Hotel mit einer atemberaubenden Aussicht verbringen. Unser Appartement hatte zwei Terrassen und einen Whirlpool mit Blick zur Bucht Ammoudi. Das Frühstücksbuffet ließ nichts zu wünschen übrig. Die Mitarbeiter des Hotels waren sehr nett und zuvorkommend. Für uns war es ein unvergesslicher Urlaub. Wir können diese Unterkunft nur weiterempfehlen.

Lots of slippery steps to the hotel. The hotel is amazing that they carry your luggage up and down the steps for you. And being down the steps you are away from the crowds. But the steps are steep and slippery and I was afraid to slip.

The evening receptionist could have been more helpful. The morning receptionist and the staff member who assisted us with our luggage were very helpful and courteous. As for breakfast, we quickly noticed that breakfast items were not replenished once they ran out or became low. This included basic items like coffee and boiled eggs. Even when we arrived half hour before breakfast officially closed, some items were unavailable. When I asked a kitchen staff member whether there was any more coffee, eggs, or other breakfast items, I was told a firm “no”.

Beautiful accommodations in the heart of Oia. Excellent location for viewing the sunset is a more private setting. The staff are amazing and go out of their way to cater and make guests feel welcome. The view for breakfast can’t be beat.

Not anything the property can change, but with the wonderful, central location in Oia comes A LOT of stairs. Thankful for the porter who brought our luggage down and took it back up.

Oia Mare Villas provides such a home away from home vibe to our stay with the most friendly staff working at the front desk and hotel to help answer our questions and needs. The view of the caldera was phenomenal. We had a great time watching the sun set without the big crowds around the area. Breakfast was provided - it's simple and good. Room is clean and on the cosy side (not a complaint - expect rooms to be smaller if you're staying in a cycladic home on the caldera)

Nous avons du quitter notre chambre le jour du départ très tôt car le taxi est collectif et il a fallu se caler sur l’horaire d’avion d’autres clients . Donc pas eu de petit déjeuner alors qu’il était payé ( on nous donne des biscottes et des pommes à emporter…) et attente très très longue à l’aéroport!! Il est préférable de réserver son propre taxi et de ne pas fonctionner avec l’hôtel!!!

Location was amazing. Beautiful view, lots of sunshine, close to everything but away from the crowded streets. Our porter was very helpful in carrying our bags and organising our transfers.

The pool was a bit too chilly to swim in! The facilities were mixed - kettle but no tea or coffee, stove but no pots or utensils.

Amazing location overlooking the Aegean. Stavroula was outstanding in providing support throughout my stay. The rooms were clean and spacious. The views were magnificent.

The only thing that I didn’t like was the cramped spiral staircase between levels of the unit. It would be nice to have a handrail on the smooth wall side.

Stunning property with breathtaking views of the caldera/sea. It is private, clean, and has exceptional service.

The only negative is that there is an exist sign above the door that stays lit at night. Personally, I like complete darkness for sleeping, but there is no way to turn off this exit sign light, so I slept with an eye mask on. I’m not sure if it’s policy to have that on at night, but I could do without it.

What I liked most was the room and the amazing view. The balcony had a beautiful view, although it could have had a bit more sunlight during the day. The breakfast was also good and offered a nice start to the morning.

What I didn’t like was that the balcony didn’t get much sunlight, so it was harder to fully enjoy relaxing there, especially in the morning. I also felt that a few small details in the room could have been improved to make the stay even more comfortable. While the breakfast was good, having a few more options would have made it even better. Overall, these were only small points, and the stay was still very enjoyable.

We booked the Volcano View Suite with Hot Tub and it was nothing short of AMAZING! The staff Allah, Abu, and Vasili were all incredible! The suite is right off the main street in Oia and very easy to get around to everything! Allah went above and beyond and got us an amazing dinner reservation with the best view for the sunset! Both rooms were spacious and immaculately clean! Worth the price and hope to come back some day!

Caution the main hotel is quite difficult to get to, however breakfast is included, and they will bring directly to the Volcano View Suite!

We absolutely adore this hotel. It is steps away from all of the bustle of downtown Oia but because of its location on the side of the caldera, it is unbelievably quiet and peaceful in a way that almost none of the other hotels can claim. The entire island comes to the top of the caldera to watch the sunset, which hotel guests can enjoy from any number of beautiful venues, including the pool, hot tubs and rooftop. We absolutely love being in the pool looking out at the ruins and hearing the donkeys going up and down the Byzantine steps. The proximity to Ammoudi Bay is another fabulous bonus. The staff is amazing, the rooms are gorgeous, and the overall experience is just absolutely magical. This was our second stay (we stayed here 8 years ago for our honeymoon) and we would recommend it to absolutely anyone traveling to Santorini.

What we didn't like was the fact that they charged a fee as a guarantee that the room would be clean and also charged taxes. We also didn't like the behavior of the office staff, who were not at all friendly or hospitable.

Superbe hôtel, avec une vue magnifique sur la baie d'amoudi et coucher de soleil, le jaccuzi était parfait à l'abris des regards. La chambre est cosy, confortable et très lumineuse malgré l'aspect tronglodyte, une kitchenette à disposition.. Le déjeuné est bien fourni avec du personnel accueillant et souriant, le plus est la piscine extérieure.. Hôtel charmant, bien situé dans OIA avec beaucoup de restaurants aux alentours.

Manque une carte ou menu pour le room service et quelques éléments de toilettes comme du dentifrice, coton tige, mais rien de bien méchant..

We stayed in a private Villa managed by OIA Mare Villa. Excellent location, spectacular views, a jacuzzi overlooking the crystal blue Ocean of OIA, right in the heart of town.

Our stay at Oia Mares Villas was amazing. The location is perfect — right in the heart of Oia with stunning views of the caldera and sunset, which we could enjoy from the private terrace. We booked the Honeymoon Cave with Hot tub. The room was spacious, spotless, and very comfortable. The hot tub was always at the ideal temperature. Reception was extremely helpful with reservations and local tips. A special mention to the staff member who carried our luggage all the way from the taxi drop-off and over the stairs — such a big help and much appreciated!

There wasn’t anything we didn’t like, but be aware there are quite a few steps to reach the property — something to keep in mind if you have mobility issues. It also would’ve been nice to have the bottled water replaced daily.

One of the two nights we were stayed - the roof top was privatised for a private event which meant we could not use it to see the sunset... which is the primary reason we booked this hotel. Plus mgt did not inform us in advance so we cold make other plans - it was on arrival at sunset.. that the actual couple let us know...

Views were simply amazing from the location especially in a private setting away from all the crowds – can stay here watching beautiful Santorini sunset everyday! Room was clean and spacious. The heated jacuzzi was so relaxing again with great views. Breakfast was ample and communication was also efficient throughout the stay. Private transfers with the porter’s help on luggage were definitely essential too.

For the price charged I would expect at least that some basic supplies can be better stocked (iron boards, towels, tissue/toilet papers, etc). Not the hotel’s fault but the steps getting in and out everyday could get increasingly challenging depending on the length of the stay.
