Loved the location being just across the road from the beautiful Ohope Beach. Liked the reasonable room rates. Clean rooms, plenty of storage. Housekeeping for long stays meant less disturbance. Our unit had everything you needed for short or longer stays. Decor was nice, linen crisp and rooms clean and tidy. It was quiet and staff were so friendly. The backdrop of bush and lush gardens meant plenty of wildlife around which was magic. Tui, Kereru/Kukupa, Ruru and Piwakwaka.

Just needed a better bed and to resolve a minor problem with ants getting inside.

Just perfect for my daughter and I - thanks Glynis I will be staying again as have site visits in Ohope.

Everything was so homely, comfortable, clean and such a beautiful setting looking out over the sea 🌊 The owner and staff were friendly and very helpful. Highly recommended 👌 Peace and tranquility...

Pleasure to stay here so relaxing and quiet. We'll equipped studio with great ocean views. And great off street parking. Super clean and tidy, would recommend. Lovely.

Stone throw away from the beach. Low noise level. Was nice to get milk in a jug on a tray in the fridge rather than those stupid capsules. On the tray were chocolate kitkats a nice touch. Hosts were very welcoming. Loved our overnight stay.

As always a perfect stay with a lovely veranda looking out to gardens and sea views. So comfortable

I Cannot recommend Ocean View Motel enough! From the moment we arrived until the second we left, the hospitality was absolutely top-tier. ​Our family was checking out of our previous accommodation early in the morning, which left us with nowhere to go and stuck out in the cold. Ocean View Motel went above and beyond by accommodating an early check-in before their standard 1:00 PM time, which saved our day and meant the world to us! The penthouse appartment met all our needs - spacious, comfortable and well equipped. The views of the beach and sea just across the road are absolutely breathtaking! As we drove off after check-out, the owners Glynis and Pat actually stood outside to wave goodbye to us. What an incredible, personal touch, it made us feel so valued and is something our family will never forget! We will definitely be returning and highly recommend this beautiful place to anyone visiting the area. ​

Paradise! Best location down westend Ohope. We stayed 4 nights in Penthouse upstairs and it was fabulous. Outlook directly to the beach across a quiet road. Plenty of space for a family with everything you need. Very clean and daily linen change. Sunny airy and feels private. We enjoyed so much we stayed an additional 2 nights and moved to one of the1 bedroom units upstairs with Sea and bush views. Very nice indeed. Clean and comfortable with everything you need. We liked being by the bush for a change. Feel the nature with views out to the moana. Spacious balcony and good sense of privacy. Glynis and Pat are lovely discreet hosts gave us some fishing spot tips. Ali and Colleen (staff) were obliging and friendly. Highlight was catching fish for dinner and watching the Orca chasing stingray right there in the bay. Would definitely book again.

As usual, we were welcomed warmly, and Glynis was very generous with delicious biscuits that, lucky for us, she'd just baked. We've always liked coming here, it's comfortable and restful with a good kitchen, so it's now become our go to place. We love having the beach right there as well

Our room has a fantastic view to Ohope beach. The room and kitchen were very clean. Also, the property was very close to the beach as well.

Beautiful sea view, sun shines right on the deck where there is comfy seating the bed was so comfy i slept the best i had in a long time. The ladies at reception were so happy and welcoming. Beach a walk away. Would love to come back.

This is by far one of the best destinations to relax and reset. The hosts are welcoming, friendly and always willing to accommodate. The penthouse is my favourite room, it is spacious, clean and warm. This is the perfect space for a weekend getaway that provides great views, interesting walks and an overall relaxing experience that is top notch.

The owners are brilliant - so kind and caring! The view was stunning from our bedroom. Everything was perfect!

It was a lovely clean little unit. Everything you needed was there. We sat on the deck and looked out to the sea.. amazing. The staff were really friendly.

Absolutely magical location and perfect for our family - kids even went for a chilly dip in the water! (we stayed in May which is Autumn / Fall in NZ). Glynis made us feel welcome immediately and we were very happy with the accommodation.

We had the studio room which is the picture above. Looked directly out to the ocean. We enjoyed the heated floor tiles in the bathroom.

Was a bit worried about using the electric jug inside a cupboard.

Owner was lovely and very helpful, ocean is literally across the street and close to good restaurants and cafes, large room/appartment with lots of amenities at a reasonable price.

The four square is a 25 min walk away so while there is a oven etc I didn't use them as I didn't have a car. Not even a dairy for basic stuff nearby. In general Whakatane is better suited to people with cars. Bit of mould on the window sills, average comfyness of bed (ok for a night or two but might not want to stay 2 weeks type thing), kinda what you'd expect for a bungalow type beach place at such a reasonable price, but don't be surprised this isn't a hotel.

Very welcoming and friendly hosts with great communication, comfy bed with quality linen, plenty of soft towels and well equipped kitchen. An immaculately clean apartment. Highly recommend and will definitely book again.

We were in the "Penthouse Apartment" which has a great view of the ocean and beach. After your walk on the beach you can relax in the lounge with the ranch sliders open and watch others and the sea or sit on the private deck. The accommodation was well appointed and clean. friendly owner and staff. Would definitely take this room again.
