Reviewed Jun 28, 2026Das Haus hat eine Top-Lage: man kann direkt über eine öffentliche Wiese zum Strand gehen und dort baden , sich sonnen, am Strand wandern. Phantastische Ausblicke und Sonnenuntergänge. Parken direkt am haus, die Vermieterin wohnt im Stockwerk drüber. Preis-Leistungsverhältnis stimmt. Direkt benachbart ist ein öffentlicher Tennisplatz, der etwas in die Jahre gekommen ist, aber dafür jederzeit frei/kostenlos betretbar/bespielbar war Mitte April. In die Stadt Whakatane ist es auch nicht weit, und dort gibt es alles, selbst einen Buchladen - und einen wirklich guten Espresso im Robert Harris Cafe!
Nachts wurde es Mitte April doch frisch, auch drinnen, und es gab nur im Wohnzimmer eine Klimaanlage, mit der man etwas heizen konnte, nicht in den Schlafzimmern.

Reviewed Nov 6, 2025Great location just metres from the beach and next door to tennis courts. Tennis rackets and balls were there for use too! Four square just around the corner. Friendly host.
Could be a little cleaner - there was a bit of hair on the bathroom floor when we arrived and it was a bit dusty in places. Wouldn't put us off coming back, but would just make it a bit nicer :)

Being picky, it would have been nice to have had even a small amount of milk on our arrival and more than 3 standard tea bags when there was three of us there for two nights. Fortunately the 4 square was only a short walk and opened at 7 the following morning.

Reviewed Sep 8, 2024A great spot, not far from the beach. The owners lived above so there is some noise to be expected but we only really noticed it in the bedroom early in the morning. They were lovely to deal with. Overall the accommodation was great for what we were wanting and at a reasonable price we thought.
The owners had a challenge to get the accommodation cleaned in time for our check in but all was communicated with us so no problems.

Reviewed Jul 14, 2024Outside (NZ winter) temperatures were 12 to 14 degC during the day and below 10 degC at night. The appartment had NO HEATING in the sleeping rooms (not even an air blower or a mobile radiator / 2 bed bottles in a cupboard....haha). Furthermore, the heat pump in the main living room combined with kitchen is undersized, positioned near the entrance and only heatin PROPERLY the living area. Not enough to heat the kitchen area which is also the only place where you can work with your laptop (no other table vailable for this!). Also of interest for other guests is following: when making the resrvation for the 2 nights the price was 315 NZ$ for 2 people and 395 NZ$ if 3 people. We resrved for 2 people, and were told via mail before our arrival that a 3rd person would cost 3 times more ! (240 NZ$ for 2 nights instead of the 80 NZ$ shown on the Booking.com site).

Reviewed Jan 24, 2024The place was very comfortable with plenty of room, kitchen had everything required, location fantastic and the beach just a stones through away. Adjacent was a tennis court and a grassed park area which was ideal for play.
We would have like to have had easy access to a laundry but finding it was impossible, also just a small thing, we are always concerned about furniture and the damage hot or cold drinks can make, coasters would be a nice addition rather than having to find a paper back to use.
