Das Dschungeltrekking war ein herausragendes Erlebnis. Wir haben uns bei den Guides stets sicher und wohl gefühlt. Besonders imposant war das Trekking ab dem 3. Tag. Standort direkt am Fluss und im Zentrum ist sehr praktisch.

Das Zimmer war etwas ringhörig und die Umgebung war eher laut.

La struttura è perfetta. L’abbiamo scelta principalmente perché sapevamo dell’opportunità di fare escursioni nella giungla direttamente con loro. Prezzi più economici degli altri (2 giorni e 1 notte nella giungla a 100€) e guida molto simpatica e professionale. Oltre l’esperienza fantastica nella giungla, ci sono moltissimi pro: ci sono venuti a prendere in aeroporto GRATUITAMENTE (3 ore di guida da Medan), camere spaziosissime con ventilatori e ristorante nell’hotel molto buono.

When we arrived, the owner was very rude and didn’t give us our room even though we had a reservation, because we had already completed our jungle trekking with a different company than his. He treated us in such a hostile way that made us feel very uneasy. We had to find a new room, which wasn’t great as it was already quite late. It should be clearly disclosed in advance that the owner doesn’t accept guests who don’t want to book the jungle trekking with him. I cannot recommend you enough to book a different place if you want to choose your jungle trekking company freely and not to be forced to do his.

Muhdi hat alles für uns organisiert und war entgegen mancher Bewertungen nicht aufdringlich. Die Hauseigenen Guides waren Spitze. Einer ging voraus und hat uns dann zu den Tieren gelotst. Das mitgebrachte Essen war ausgezeichnet und liebevoll hergerichtet. Zumal die Preise für die Treks reglementiert sind, macht man nichts falsch dort zu buchen. DSHEE geht schon über 30 Jahre durch diesen Wald. Wir haben long Tail Makaken, pigtail Makaken, Thomas leaf Monkeys, black Gibbons und einige Orang Uthans gesehen. Auch einen Sumatra Dragon und eine Viper konnten wir beobachten bevor wir mit den Schlauchrafts sicher zurück gebracht wurden. Für die Kinder haben die Guides vor Ort Orang Uthan Gesichter aus Stein geschnitzt. Ein tolles Souvenir Die Village Tour mit den gleichen Guides war sehr interessant und hat auch den Kindern sehr gefallen besonders weil sie den Guide schon kannten. Die Zimmer, vor allem ein Familienzimmer (Nr. 5), das Penthouse, war die Sensation. Ein riesen Fenster mit Dschungel View und 2 Terrassen. Das Essen war dort am besten verglichen mit der Umgebung. Viele Touristen von anderen Unterkünften kamen immer wieder um dort zu essen. Bezahlen konnte ich alles per Wise Tranfer was für mich optimal war. Das Bankomatthema hat und nicht belastet.

Nichts! Aufgrund mancher Bewertungen sehr positiv überrascht gewesen.

The room was clean and spacious with a comfortable bed, very good value for money. The Food in the Restaurant of the guesthouse was also tasty. Hotel staff was friendly and helpful. We would stay there again :)

The power outlets in the room weren’t strong enough to run a hairdryer, but charging phones and other devices worked well. I was allowed to use a power outlet outside the room to dry my hair, which was helpful. The driver we arranged through the hotel discouraged us from using the ATM at the airport and instead drove us to a bank in the city, where we had to pay a high fee to withdraw cash. It also seems quite common for drivers to take tourists to touristy restaurants along the way. You can decline, but it felt a bit pushy to us. We can’t rate the jungle trekking offered by the hotel because we booked our trek with another tour operator. This seemed to be rather unusual, as both the hotel staff and the driver repeatedly asked us who we would be trekking with.

• No running shower; washing is done using the bucket and scoop in the bathroom • No WiFi in the rooms • As with many places in Indonesia, there is a very loud 5am call to prayer from the mosque directly behind the property ***Important Note for Solo Female Travellers*** This review is not about the guesthouse as a whole, which has many good qualities. It is specifically about the behaviour of one individual, a family member involved in organising tours, transfers, and activities. During my stay, I experienced behaviour from this person that made me feel extremely uncomfortable from the very first evening. This included uninvited attention, inappropriate familiarity, and, most concerning, a close‑up photograph of me taken without my knowledge or consent, which was then sent directly to me. This behaviour was not professional, not respectful, and left me feeling anxious for the remainder of my stay. Because of this, I did not feel comfortable trusting this person to organise any further tours or travel arrangements. I want to emphasise that this is not a matter of “not taking a joke” or misunderstanding friendliness. The behaviour displayed was intrusive, crossed personal boundaries, and did not align with what guests, especially solo female travellers, should expect from someone in a position of responsibility within a family‑run business.

Prachtig terras met uitzicht over de rivier. De kamer was groot rustig en comfortabel, maar had geen AC.

Er was ‘s ochtends geen water in het toilet of douche. Niemand had de bucket gevuld…

Leider wurden wir Vorort abgewiesen und durften gar nicht erst rein.

Haltet Abstand von denen !!!! Entweder bucht man eine Tour in diesem Hotel oder man sollte die Finger davon lassen. Wir kamen abends und sehr müde an, bekamen ein briefing von unserer Tour und wurden dann bei Idas Guests House rausgelassen. Dort kam das böse Erwachen, sie lehnten uns ab, weil wir keine Tour bei ihnen gebucht haben. Wir verlangten das Geld wieder, was nicht einfach war. Wir mussten uns anschreien und bedrohen lassen. Das Personal sowie der Chef selbst waren unfassbar unfreundlich oder haben gar nicht erst mit uns geredet.

Muhdi en zijn team doen er alles aan om je een heerlijk verblijf te geven en een onvergetelijke ervaring in de jungle. Hij organiseert vakanties voor de locals, Aziaten en Europeanen. Ze zijn heel gastvrij

Alles is top hier. Goede accommodatie, heerlijk eten en drinken. Uitstekende service. En de organisatie van de jungletocht is ook helemaal top

El restaurant està super bé de preu i boníssim. M’encanta que tingui vistes al riu. Recomano agafar el treck directament allà, i a poder ser amb l’Aange i l’anto !

Die Lage im Dorf am Fluss ist toll. Und die superiore Zimmer hatten super Aussicht auf den Fluss und waren sauber. Gutes Preis Leistungsverhältnis. Das Essen war fein.

Der Inhaber Mudhi war sehr verärgert darüber, dass wir die Dschungel-Tour bei einem anderen Anbieter gebucht haben. Das war etwas unangenehm.

Perfect location, with a lovely restaurant next to the river. Very easy to organise transport to and from the property at a good price. They also arrange an incredible jungle trek - my guides Tobi and Michael were excellent, thank you!

Make sure you book any tours through the property. I was unfortunately scammed by a local “guide”.

Why are the accommodation is basic? It’s clean fantastic location. Good value for money. Staff are super helpful and a lovely vibe and atmosphere. Highly recommend particularly if you’re looking to do jungle trucking.

Die Unterkunft hat uns zu einen guten Preis ein 2Tage/1 Nacht Dschungel Trip angeboten. Dieser war großartig, super organisiert und mit den besten Guides die es gibt. Ein empfehlenswerter Startpunkt für ein orang utan jungle trek.

Unterkunft sehr einfach. Zimmer sind unterschiedlich gut. Etwas laut durch vorbeifahrenden Roller.

Zimmer mit neuen Betten mit guten Moskito Netzen. Von der Unterkunft wurde ein Rücktransport zum Flughafen organisiert. Zimmer lag etwas abseits der Straße und war somit sehr ruhig.

Wat hebben wij genoten van ons verblijf bij Ida Guest House! De accommodatie ligt op een prachtige locatie, midden in Bukit Lawang, direct aan de rivier. Het restaurant grenst aan de kamers, waardoor je heerlijk kunt genieten van het uitzicht én van het fantastische eten, echt iedere maaltijd was heerlijk. Het personeel en de eigenaar zijn ontzettend vriendelijk, gastvrij en altijd bereid om je te helpen. Je voelt je hier meteen welkom. Via Ida Guest House boekten we ook de 2-daagse jungle trekking, en dat was zonder twijfel een van de hoogtepunten van onze reis. Dankzij de geweldige begeleiding van Iman en Michael werd het een onvergetelijke ervaring. Hun enthousiasme, kennis en goede zorgen maakten de tocht extra bijzonder. Een absolute aanrader voor iedereen die Bukit Lawang bezoekt!

Het enige kleine minpuntje was dat het ’s avonds erg warm werd op de kamer. Er stond wel een ventilator, maar die zorgde voor wat ons betreft voor onvoldoende verkoeling. Achteraf begrepen we dat er ook kamers met airconditioning beschikbaar zijn, dus daar zouden we een volgende keer zeker voor kiezen.

Super locatie. De supergidsen Iwan en Juda vergezelde ons 2 dagen in de jungle, door hen hebben we op de twee dagen 15 Oerangoetangs en zoveel andere dieren gezien! De gidsen maakten het een super verblijf. (Credits to Iwan en Juda!) Vervoer van en naar de luchthaven werd geregeld door het hotel! Het restaurant had heerlijke gerechten. We hadden een super ervaring! :)

De douche heeft enkel koud water.

À l’arrivée de devoir porter nos bagages sur 300m de nuit dans les ruelles de Bukit Lawang.

Отличный гестхаус. Супер персонал. Прекрасные гиды в трек в джунгли. Нам предложили бесплатный трансфер из Медана, если мы берём трек в джунгли у них. Встретили в аэропорту KNO. Ехать около 4х часов. Брали 2 однодневных трека разными тропами. В первый раз увидели 4 , во второй 6 орангутангов очень близко. В 2 метрах от нас. Много обезьян Томаса, бабуины, гиббоны и макак. Хороший ресторан с прекрасными ценами и вкусной едой. Мой сын 10 лет прекрасно поиграл, показался на тьюбах с дочками хозяина. Место выше всех похвал!!! Рекомендую!

Недостатков не нашёл

Yuda welcomed me helped me with my stay and guided me in trekking. Muhdi gave me a free bottle of cold mineral water upon checkout. Rafting not included in the orangutan trekking cost, but it is bonus to me as rafting is not my cup of tea

A bit pressure in doing all guided activities as this seems to be the main source of income. No introduction to the guide before trekking despite i was the earliest to register, thus i seemed odd initially to join into a big family by myself

De jungle trekking georganiseerd door Ida guest house overtrof al onze verwachtingen. Wat een ervaring! De gidsen waren echt experten en pasten de route perfect aan de omstandigheden en de mogelijkheden van ons gezin aan. We zagen zeker 7 oerang- oetans en een heleboel andere dieren. Ook het guest house zelf is een echte aanrader. Het eten is er lekker, het personeel heel vriendelijk en onze kinderen konden heerlijk samenspelen met de kinderen van de eigenaar op de rivier.

Das Zimmer war sauber und tiptop. Das Personal war freundlich. Der Boss war leider nicht so freundlich. Schlussendlich hat aber alles geklappt auch mit dem Transport zum Flughafen.

Central, close to shopping stalls and restaurants. Family room with terrace was very clean with comfortable beds. Incredible view from the restaurant overlooking the river. Great iced latte and pancakes for breakfast.

Cold water shower only but that’s ok in this climate.

Super bien placé pour faire le trek, personnel en or, et super expérience !

Very friendly staff. Organized the most amazing guides for our family of 4. We had our 2 boys, 12 years and 9 years and they loved our guides so much. Also organized a great private driver to Lake Toba for us at a great price. Food in restaurant was delicious and affordable with lots of fresh vegetables. Restaurant sells alcohol. Rooms were great value for money.

Bequemes großes Bett mit Moskitonetz, der Besitzer organisierte uns netterweise einen Fahrer vom Flughafen zur Unterkunft und wieder zurück

Keine Klimaanlage, aus der Dusche kam nur tröpfchenweise Wasser, es reichte nicht zum Haare duschen, der Eimer neben der Toilette wurde Tage nicht geleert und es fing an zu stinken

Everything was perfect! Clean room, comfortable bed, nice terrace, where I was drinking beer or coffee with beautiful view.😍 They have a good restaurant above the river with delicious food. I liked so much pineapple pancakes in the morning 😋 But the most important - super staff of this guest house! Muhdi has helped me with everything! He has organized for me transfers to Bukit Lawang and to Airport. And he has a really good guide for walking in the jungle to orangutans. I have seen a lot of orangutans and monkeys! My experience never forget! Thank you, Muhdi! Thank you, Tobi. Thanks to everybody in Ida Guest House! ❤️❤️❤️

Avoid if you want to book your jungle trek with a more reputable company. We were not allowed to stay as we didn’t book a jungle trek. We did not know that this was a condition of the stay but they allowed us to book and take our money. The staff were very rude when we arrived at 7pm and we had to find new accommodation last minute.

Bienveillance et accompagnement du personnel lors de notre séjour. Ils ont pu répondre à toutes nos demandes et questions. Ils ont pu nous organiser à la dernière minute un trip de 5 jours. très bon emplacement, proche de la jungle et de la rivière. Très bon restaurant. Personnel très accueillant ! Nous avons bcp apprécié notre séjour. Des remerciements à Muhdi, Tobbi, Lucas et Lias pour nous avoir fait passé un super séjour !

First time in Indonesia and didn't know what to expect. Just after I booked, the whole trip to Bukit Lawang was easy. The owner took contact on WhatsApp and arranged transport from airport, greeted us personal on arrival, and arranged everything we needed for the stay. Jungle trekking, Snake safari, Elephant safari. The restaurant had great food and located along the river with a perfect view. When (not if) we come back to Bukit Lawang we for sure will stay here again.

We only stayed 4 nights. Should have been there at least 6-7 nights.

The location is super central and the rooms are actually huge! The hosts are such wonderful people—they made us feel at home right away. A big plus is their riverside restaurant just across the street; it’s the perfect spot to relax and made our stay so much more convenient. We booked the jungle trek through them (the main reason we chose this place), and it was the absolute highlight of our trip! The guides were experts and took such good care of us, from the great food at the camp to the fun atmosphere. A total experience of a lifetime—don't miss it!

Het uitzicht, het eten is fantastisch, de kamers zijn super schoon, het personeel is super vriendelijk en niks is teveel gevraagd.

The location of the hotel was excellent. The room was spacious and comfy. The hotel ran excellent tour packages to the national park and other places in the area. Wonderful staff. Toby was a great jungle guide!

Das Bett war super gemütlich, sauber und es hatte ein Moskitonetz. Das Essen war lecker. Die Organisation der Taxifahrten zur Unterkunft und zurück an den Flughafen, waren unkompliziert. Das Personal war sehr hilfsbereit.

Leider war der Wasserdruck in der Dusche sehr gering.

Die Unterkunft inklusive Dschungel-Trecking war eins der tollsten Erlebnisse jemals. Besonders mit den Tour-guides Baiman, und D war das eine unvergessliche Zeit.

We were given a very nice room with airconditioning, hot water, large balcony & great views over the river & village. Onsite restaurant offered good range of foods & drinks at decent prices. Location was central to the village (but see below), so was near to shops and restaurants. Hotel offered orangutan sighting trips which were well organised & the guides were very helpful. Hotel also provided taxi service at a good price between Medan and Bukit Lawang.

The location was very central, close to the main routes through the village: no cars can go there, but noisy motorbikes do, 24 hours in the day. Internet was off for the first of our two days.

Ich gebe normalerweise keine Bewertungen ab, aber dieser Anbieter in Bukit Lawang hat mich positiv beeindruckt. Für den Preis kann man natürlich absolut nicht meckern. Die Zimmer sind sehr gut und die Lage ist die Beste von allen. Aber was besonders hervorsticht, ist der unglaublich nette und fürsorgliche Besitzer und Mitarbeiter. Er allein und die super Tourguides, mit denen er zusammenarbeitet sind der Grund, dass ich diese Bewertung abgebe. Wenn ihr für ein Trekking Erlebnis herkommt, könnt ihr keine bessere Wahl treffen.

This is a perfect spot for those looking for a clean, quiet place to stay. The service is top-notch. The room was clean, and the bed was comfortable. Absolutely recommendable!

Lovely little guesthouse in a nice area of Bukit lawang. The location is great, near lots of lovely restaurants and bars. Rooms are basic but comfortable. The staff are great - we booked a jungle trek through them led by staff members who were really expert and caring.

Not necessarily something for the guesthouse to change but just a heads up - the jungle trek is amazing but it is pretty tough going physically! I was a bit naive to this.
