It’s an authentic place embedded with the tribal culture. The place is in the middle of the jungle where you get to hear birds, bugs and all kinds of nature creatures sing! What a privilege!
None
The host made zongzi for us since it was duanwujie and they were delicious.
At night it rained and it was pretty loud but that's unavoidable.
The room is located in a nice garden with good views, but you need car to move to nearest restaurants in Shizhao ( 3 km).
The water in the shower is very difficult to regulate , other is too hot or too cold. Breakfast is very limited.
fantastic host who helped with transport and pickup. The property also had lovely beautiful cats and kittens which were very fun to play with. The host also took us to see fireflies which I had never seen before and they were so cool.
no hand soap in bathroom but this can be overlooked
loved the quirkiness, originality, setting, cosy cabin, views out to the forest and tea plantations and the friendly staff. This place is a one off! It’s unusual, authentic, welcoming, rustic, cosy, rural, friendly, unique and special. Kim & her team couldn’t do enough for us, picking you up ups from Shizhao station, great local food (we had three dinners, all good, plenty to eat, unusual but interesting ingredients to add to the Taiwan adventure!), lots of chats via Google translate and she even sorted some laundry for us. Trails on the door & from Shizhao, views are fabulous, animals and birds everywhere. An excellent experience.
Nothing.
The host lady is great with communication, she does not speak English but uses a translator app which works very well. The cabins are gorgeous, so cute and beautiful to hear the waterfall outside when going to sleep. I had home cooked meals each night which I thought were great and a cute perk to see the firefly’s one evening.
You either need a car to get to Alishan or take the bus 30 minutes. She will happily give you a lift to the bus stop if you need, which I did on 2 x occasions
Setting in the mountain
Limited light fitting /plug, bath room and toilet very basic with limited space
The rooms are spacious and clean, and breakfast was included. While not centrally located, hosts offered to drop me off each day.
Great option! The host is kind and is willing to drive you to the bus station. Big rooms with hot water/towels/hair dryer and simple dinner as an option.
I was given very good service. The shuttle service was really good. You just called and a very few minutes the car was there.
The place is quiet and cozy, run by a lovely family. You can feel they really care about their guests. It has a beautiful view of a tea plantation right in front, it's next to a great coffee shop, and there are a few walks you can do nearby. It's a bit of a ride to get to Alishan national park but the host always kindly offers to drive you to the nearest bus stop to get around. She was always asking us what we wanted to do and was very helpful. She doesn't speak English but uses a translator app on her phone so communication was always smooth.
Excellent and warm host. Delicious and homely dinner made with local/own grown produce. Host is available to fetch you from Shizhuo bus stop to the stay from 2PM onwards. Unless you have a car, plan your visit to Shizhuo well and choose a stay close to the things you want to see as hike trailheads/ attractions can be far apart from each other. With that said there are enough interesting things near to this stay like the coffeeshop which offers regional beans and a decent hike!
I was so, so charmed by this little bed and breakfast! It is in easy walking distance to some fantastic coffee nearby AND a section of trails (Muhi trail). The operator is also very generous and welcoming and happy to help with getting you to and from town. From town, it's a very easy ride to Alishan, which was incredible to hike through during the day. (Not sure how one might get there for the famed sunrise, though...)
Nice and cozy place. Wood construction gives the room warm atmosphere. Would stay again.

Really enjoyed the room and quietness of this place. The location is good in the sense that it’s peaceful and in the middle of tea plantations. It’s not close to the park, so you do need a car to be able to go. The staff is super friendly and the food they provide is good.
The scenery and the host. Beautiful place and very friendly and nice host. The food is good and the DIY leather experience is something which you do not get to experience in most places but it helps to get you entertained as there is no TV in the room.
The water heater is a little erratic. It's difficult to control the hot water so it's either too hot or too cold.
A unique and welcoming place to stay. As the name suggests, it's a place aboriginal craft leather carving happens but the host family also runs a lovely simple place to stay with dinner and breakfast available. Well placed in the tea gardens for the many attractions of Alishan, I heartily recommend this hostelry.
We LOVED the smell of wood the moment you enter the room! The interior design is amazing, it's very homey. The lady boss was also very kind, she shuttled us to and fro between the accommodation and Shizhuo bus stop. However, please note that this service is only available from 2pm onwards, as they are very busy in the morning. They have a few kittens and a small aviary at there, which is a nice treat to see!
Minor thing - we found it quite hard to adjust the shower temperature, it varied wildly between cold and very hot. The location is really a distance away from public transport, so I recommend this place more so for travellers who are driving.
Love that they offer pick up for travellers heading to their accommodation as it requires a 10 mins drive. Very nice owners who also suggested us to catch sunrise at Alishan and arrange private transportation for us to do so.
Dinner was limited at an additional cost. Would appreciate if it was more customised. There were a lot of mosquitoes as well during the period we went. In addition, double beds were much smaller than expected - it's a tight squeeze to fit 2 pax.
Super friendly owner and great environment with beautiful tea farm view. The room is well built with wood and clean. Many cute animals and plants.
The connection is better with self driving .
Very positively surprised by this homestay! The bungalow was super comfy, quiet and had beautiful views into the forest and the tea fields! The location is very convention if you have a car - close to the town and hikes! The host was very lovely and we got along with the translation app. What we loved most was the homemade dinner (350 per person) - it was so delicious and varied. Breakfast was very typical Taiwanese (rice, cabbage etc.) but also very tasty 😊 overall, a very lovely and memorable stay in the middle of the tea area
Nothing bothered us
The outdoor sitting area is cute, the bed is quite small.
Too far from town center, to walk is like half an hour by car 10 minute ride, BBQ dinner was not good the meat is tough and the food not great but since the BNB is half an hour walk from town you are force to eat there or can request owner drop u to town.
Loved the ambience of the homestay with its view over the tea plantations, the garden with all the animals, and the fact that it was a drive away from Alishan National Park. We wouldn't have enjoyed staying in the park so we were happy that we rented a car. It gave us more flexibility (and you could park at the homestay). The accommodation was spacious and clean, the food was tasty and the hostess was super friendly. Despite her not speaking any English, she made it work with her translation app. Thank you for the hospitality! We would stay here again!
Mattress wasn't so comfortable.
Excellent and beautiful location, quiet.
No A/C or Fridge in your room. Towels do not dry due to the high humidity and are not replaced automatically. We had to take out our own trash, as it was not removed after two days (including soiled toilet tissue which you are not allowed to flush). Plenty of fungus in the shower. Breakfast is included, but my dog would certainly refuse to eat it, and I didn't either. Lastly, Booking charged NT$3200/day while the room was being offered @ $2800 on the internet on those dates. The lady managing the property is unable to read chinese characters from Google translate, such that communication was not easy.
We are already planning our next stay here again next year. That’s how we loved our time here, we regret not staying here earlier and longer. The host, 邱梅惠, was the best. She tried her best to speak to us in our language (through a translator app). She laughed when we made mistakes, which made us very comfortable and at home. It’s so peaceful here and the ambiance is just beautiful. Her pet birds wake you up very nicely in the morning and she serves a very healthy and hearty breakfast that we appreciated even if it was mostly vegetables. The room is VERY BIG, CLEAN, and COZY. You get a beautiful view of the forest and the sound of the river. I recommend requesting for the room in the farthest right to get a view of the mountains.
It might be far from the center but I believe the host offers to pick you up and drop you off at the bus stop if you’d like. I recommend you rent a car like we did, you will enjoy the scenery very well.
It was nice and very clean!
It was quite far from everything so there is no opportunity for grocery shopping
The cabins were well set out, spacious and nice and clean, The accommodation has parking right outside the accommodation. The hosts used google translate to good effect when we checked in which was good.
The breakfast and evening meal were very traditional and may not be to everyone's taste but are freshly made.
This is a super place, right in the middle of the tea plantation and bamboo forest. We left the windows open while sleeping and really sounds like you are in the wild! The place is also super cute and most importantly very clean!! The host was amazing and help us with bus timings and she would drop us and pick us up. No one spoke English, but this was no issue via using translator apps. We recommend this place!!
The hotel structure was quaint and different from the usual accommodations in Taiwan.
Really special place to stay, host provided free transfers from Shizhou bus station which was really convenient. The room is gorgeous with huge windows overlooking the bamboo forest. Food is delicious and fresh. The host also took us a on a walk after dinner to view fireflies which was so magical!
Our host Jin is superb friendly and helpful. She tried her best to help us and make sure we are comfortable during our stay. Her husband and she even went beyond their way to help us commute to the bus stations and rescued us from a missed bus on a rainy day. Their foods were amazing in a home-cook style. Highly recommended their homestay and the services.
Beautiful location, near by good cafe, nice view on the tea plantage, nice big room, very clean.
The owners were so helpful. Jing offered to pick me up from the bus stop. I walked . It took a leisurely 35 minutes. About 80 % of the way, an older couple with the ubiquitous small 4 wheel drive mini truck gave me a ride.I sat on the bed. As you can see the locals are warm and welcoming. The next day the owner took me to a trail head to hike and offered to pick me up . I walked back. I went to buy tea. The owner insisted to take me to town. The hotel is a garden of eden. It is decorated in lights and appears like a shining crown amongst tea plantations. There is a big bird cage filled with mor 20 colorful birds. Some birds appeared to follow me. There is a black and white cat. 3 dogs that you only see if you stay behind after breakfast. I saw 2 of them. A sausage dog and a bull dog. In the dining room is an enormous fish tank. There are bananas that you can help yourself. The dinners and the included breakfast were delicious. There are many kinds of orchids. They are amazing. Jing has a leather workshop that you can buy her labor of love. The room is big. It has a sofa, a heater, electric water kettle and tea bags. The wifi worked reasonably well . You can better reception in the dining room. There are seating areas in the front patio.
Nothing . The owners are very hospitable.
The hostess was extremely helpful and genuine The cabins were clean and homey The setting is gorgeous surrounded by tea farms Caters very well for vegetarians Lovely warm atmosphere with lovely garden and aviary Owner is talented leather worker Uses translator app very effectively for non manadarin speakers
Hard to get to unless you have yr own transport Tripool taxis were helpful for us Owner will drop you off at bus to national forest area
The cleanliness and the host!
Neat and clean room, friendly host
location and food
A beautiful location, surrounded by woods and tea farms. Unforgettable surroundings! It’s a family owned place and the owner is very accommodating. The food is delicious and fresh. Staying here is an experience I will never forget.
The breakfast finishes a little too early but that’s a minor detail.
The owner was very friendly and helpful. Without her help, we wouldn't be able to do all we wanted to do during the stay.
Wifi was too weak to be useful in the room we stayed.
Friendly operator and staff...cooling and closed to nature's environment
Too cold...
Given that it is high in the mountains and kind of remote, the rooms are surprisingly nice, they are clean and comfortable. Can see that the owner spent quite an effort to spruce up the place. It was a good move to pay for the dinner, not only did we save a trip through the winding road, but the dinner was also excellent. We did not have to chance to eat breakfast as we need to leave early. Owner is kind to prepare hard-boiled eggs for us to take away.
A bit far out, needs a car to get to any attractions or food.
We really like the ambiance and it feels like home. The owner is so welcoming and offered us free ride from bus station to the accomodation and vice versa. We enjoyed the food a lot, simple yet tasty and healthy vegetable 🥰 When we have time we will definitely book this accomodation again and again.🇵🇭 Its best to visit during sakura season around January or February
Nothing because this was the place we are looking for. Quite and away from the city.
Beautiful location, along Alishan mountain, facing the tea plantation and the great walking trail. The room is large, high ceiling and uniquely decorated.
The dining place could be better decorated, as it is bare with make shift tables and chairs. Otherwise, everything else is great.
Authentic Wood structure and the nice wood smell of the room. Room is very clean. Green scenery around. The owner is very warm, helpful and friendly.
Location - it’s some distance away from bus stop. It’s inconvenient if not driving.
Unique room style
No heating in the room, host was pushy (even knocking at our door a few minutes before we had to be at breakfast), cold shower water, not good quality breakfast
The host was wonderful - very accommodating with my vegan diet (we had 2 dinners and 1 breakfast at the hotel) and very generous with her time and efforts as she even dropped us off at the bus stop on our departure day ♥️.
Simple but stunning place and super friendly staff
Spacious, cosy and comfortable bed. The owner is very friendly and breakfast was quite delicious
The toilet is a little small
I’m the wild
The bed is small and not really comfortable
The owner is very hospitable and friendly. Making us feeling like a big family. Room is clean and cosy.
We have our personal driver so accessibility to places in Alishan has not issue with us.
Very clean wooden cabin
Location a little off from nearest bus station for someone without car. Nevertheless the hostess was kind to offer us shuttle to the bus station
The hostess was very nice, hospitable & helpful. Gave good tips on places to visit and other requests. Loved the quiet & peaceful location.
Maybe more variety for breakfast would be good. And maybe a common TV room for evening entertainment?
Nothing
Dinner set the value of food not worth it
The Owner is very helpful. She picked us from the bus stop at the closest town, and recommended activities to do during our stay. Her garden and aviary was a pleasure to look at!
Nil
Quiet, fresh air. Rustic feel.
nil
The owner was above and beyond friendly, helpful, and just amazing. They picked us up from the bus stop not just on arrival and check out, but also during our stay as we hiked around Alishan. The photos don't give justice to how great this place is. 1000% recommend. And pls get the dinner and also make a leather souvenirs for your friends. So much fun!
Not much to add here. We liked everything
Location, environment and the hospitality.

really beautiful cabins, extremely friendly staff and great food.
The room is spacious and lovely. It is built by local wood with natural scent. Room condition is very good and clean. The location is 3 minutes drive away from main route which is good if you have a car. The owner is kind and also helped us to plan our trip based on our preference.
This Minsu totally exceed expectations as it is clean and thoughtfully furnished.
Almost everything
Breakfast .
unusual accommodation in a good way , as photos show wooden interior , comfortable bed, insect screens , lovely nature around . there is nothing much around so we were glad we could have dinner and breakfast . traditional food that was simple and nice
nothing
wooden room is perfect and surrounded by plants. Owner provided helpful information for the bus transportation for going to Alison. guess it would be better for travelers by cars. Even we did not have a car but still offered us pick up and sent us to bus stops either when arrived or left, really thanks.
The staffs were really accommodating and it was more like an airbnb. They have guinea pigs and birds outside in a bug cage which was a plus point.
Location was very far, but the lady boss was very nice and more than made up for it where she will fetch us from the nearest bus stop and send us to the accommodation. Better to get your own dinner and breakfast as not many will be used to the food they provide
The breakfast and dinner are delicious and healthy.
the walking distance to take public transport.
the lady owner is very hospitable & helpful, cosy lovely wooden cabins and very delicious Taiwanese dinner & breakfast
the owners were very hospitable.
cute local spot
Lovely host; delicious breakfast and dinner The lady boss was extremely accommodating and picked us up from the next town and help dropped our bags off at the same town when we decided to hike to the bus stop :)
None!
Wonderful staff, cozy
Host was amazing and fetched us from the near by bus stop to her place. She helped us plan for our visits to Alishan, Fenqihu and back to ChiaYi HSR.
Payment had to be done at the place in cash. Please prepare cash in advance.
Very cool rooms with a rustic wooden feel. The owner was as friendly as they come. Definitely recommend getting the dinner there as it was very fresh and local.
You need a car for sure so just plan on that.
