The fact that there wasn't much to do in the lodge, for example board games to accommodate those who can't travel to where the fun activities are.

The location is absolutely beautiful, right next to the river, and one of the best parts was sitting on the porch listening to the birds and the gentle sound of the flowing water. The atmosphere is tranquil, peaceful, and perfect for anyone looking to relax and escape the hustle and bustle. The lodge is also conveniently close to Parys, making it easy to pop into town if you need to buy anything. The staff were warm, friendly, and always willing to help, which made our stay even more enjoyable. If you're looking for a peaceful getaway surrounded by nature, River Rock Lodge is an excellent choice. We would gladly visit again.

Reviewed May 8, 2026The cabin was beautiful, so cozy and the aircon on warm came in handy as it was quite cold when we visited. The grounds are kept so neat and felt like a home away from home. It was so tranquil, private, quiet and right on the river. The staff was so friendly, professional and helpful. Close to town if you wanted to go explore or go out for dinner.
The only slight negative we had was the shower was about a 7/10. The shower head had a rough stream and it felt like you were being waterboarded hahaha was quite funny tho, we made the best of it regardless. The shower walls needs a bit of a bleach scrub. But nothing major, we will definitely visit again!

Make sure to take your own drinking water. The lodge does advise you to do so anyway.

We went with our 2 little dogs and they even loved it more than we did. Not far from all the Parys stalls, 10 min away from Frontizo's amazing coffee.

1.The bed was a bit uncomfortable and pillows. 2.Swimming area needs managing, as others would sit all day around the pool without swimming, bringing discomfort to those who would like to swim. Visitors who are not swimming should find a different spot ( Eg. Outside their cabins) to sit and drink their alcohol, not at the pool.

Needs a smart TV and a better mattress for optimal comfort. Cleaning service for R200 is excessive. Gas stove for kettle was fiddly and potable water should really be provided.
