Kells Bay House and Gardens

Beautiful decor. Rich heavy curtains and Roman blinds. Our room had an excellent view of the water and was very pretty. A great big bed with lovely padded headboard. There was even a very deep, long bath. A great soak is a must. Lovely breakfast in an intimate setting.

Couldn’t believe that in such a beautiful house, the amount of mould in the shower area. It was even on the plug. Some maintenance issues with broken door handle and loose toilet seat.

The gardens are simply beautiful and the views wonderful. The rooms were luxurious and spacious...I felt like a queen. The hostess was so accomodating...and she was gracious to us as well. We misunderstood that snacks laid out in the reception area were for guests...she didn't charge us even though this was clearly our misunderstanding. Gracious folks and a nice breakfast.

The entire property was stunning. We had a lovely ocean view from our room which was greatly enjoyed. The building itself is quite nice and the staff were super kind and helpful. Everything within the room worked, the bathroom was clean, had many TV channels and clean bedding. Our only regret is that we were sick so we could not explore the property more.

We didn’t have breakfast here but had a lovely walk around the amazing gardens.

Rooms are not connected to the hotel so be prepared for short walk to the main reception (especially in the rain!)

Leider nicht das was wir erwartet hatten. Die Bilder wurden wirklich gut oder vor Jahren aufgenommen. Die Lage ist für einen Kurzaufenthalt ok…..ansonsten extrem ab vom Schuss. Leider sehr dreckig…..drinnen wie draußen.

Sehr schöner Garten mit tollen Farnen! Unbedingt ansehen. Das Haus ist sehr schön, das Essen im Thai sehr gut! Kurzer Weg zum Strand.

Etwas in die Jahre gekommen und sehr hellhörige Zimmer. Die herzliche Betreuung eines B&B hat etwas gefehlt.

L’endroit est sublime, la bâtisse est dans un jardin somptueux et proche de la plage. La suite tower était extrêmement spacieuse et décorée avec élégance. Le restaurant thaï est très sympa. Le petit déjeuner est bien.

Ce qui empêche le 10 c’est le fait que l’entretien laisse un peu à désirer. Les fenêtres sont dures à nettoyer mais sont vraiment sales et pleines de toiles d’araignées. Certains trous de cadres ont été rebouchés mais pas repeints. La salle de bain est vieille. Il y a une barrière de chantier devant la chambre… Le charme du lieu et la taille de la suite font oublier un peu cela mais si on est maniaque, cela ne peut pas coller.

Very nice house, phenomenal gardens! It was possible to order a breakfast to go, because we had to leave before 8:30am. Very friendly staff.

It was such a pleasure to stay here. The beach is peaceful and can be reached in just a 5-minute walk, with beautiful views along the way. The tranquillity, sense of safety, and natural beauty made the whole experience very special. Even though we were in Ireland, I felt like I was on holiday somewhere in a beautiful southern country. The price was very reasonable, and the breakfast was absolutely delicious. The bathrobes were incredibly soft, the towels fluffy, and the beds so comfortable. And the view from the window — I simply couldn’t take my eyes off it! It felt like a real holiday. My only regret is that it was too short, as the hotel is very busy and popular. I would 100% recommend this place!

Camera mirosea urat , pe tavan plin de pânze de păianjen , un păianjen în pat , la restaurant mâncarea medie ca și calitate și se încasa din start 12,5% servicii pe nota de plată , mochete vechi , pe hol super murdară mocheta, chiar ne întrebam cat putea să coste înlocuirea ei , grădinile în anumite părți neglijate total . Casa în general îți dă o senzație de neîngrijit . Baia veche , uzată

The house is so beautiful. The gardens are magic and the waterfall is enchanting. You can see the the ocean through the trees from the patio.

De bediening was kortaf (de meesten) en wij hebben de hele tijd geen warm water gehad. We hebben er een paar keer naar moeten vragen en daar werd gezegd dat ze het warme water aan zouden zetten. Wij hebben 2 uur gewacht en gevraagd maar helaas niks. Pas de volgende ochtend toen we het aankaartte zeiden ze dat überhaupt het warme water system niet deed. Dat was bijvoorbeeld fijn geweest als ze daar ons van op de hoogte hadden gebracht. Ik vond het personeel daarom erg passief en niet meedenkend of ons tegemoet gekomen hierin. Daarvoor vind ik de kamer wel vrij duur…

Le cadre extérieur et l’emplacement sont magnifiques. La bâtisse possède un véritable charme historique et beaucoup de potentiel. Les jardins et l’environnement sont très beaux.

Malheureusement, quasiment tout le reste. La propreté est très insuffisante et ne correspond absolument pas au standing que laissent espérer les photos et la beauté du domaine. Notre chambre était particulièrement décevante : fenêtres extrêmement sales, avec de nombreuses traces de saleté, toiles d’araignées et dépôts visibles. Il n’y avait pas de climatisation, ce qui nous obligeait à ouvrir les fenêtres, mais leur état de saleté rendait cela particulièrement désagréable. Les draps étaient vieux, usés et tachés. La chaise ainsi que les tapis présentaient également de nombreuses taches. L’accueil a été très froid et impersonnel : à notre arrivée, aucun véritable accueil ne nous a été réservé, la personne présente est simplement partie chercher une clé en arrière-cuisine. Nous avons également été extrêmement déçus par le restaurant. Nous connaissons très bien la cuisine thaïlandaise et le pad thaï servi, était très loin de ce que l’on peut attendre d’un établissement de ce niveau. Le plat donnait l’impression d’avoir pu être simplement réchauffé à partir d’un produit industriel ou surgelé. Après cette expérience, nous n’avons même pas souhaité prendre le petit-déjeuner sur place. Le problème n’est donc pas un simple détail ou une petite déception : c’est l’ensemble de l’expérience qui est très en dessous de ce que l’on pourrait attendre d’un lieu aussi exceptionnel. En résumé : Une bâtisse et un environnement magnifiques, mais un établissement aujourd’hui très décevant. Le lieu possède un potentiel exceptionnel, malheureusement totalement gâché par un manque évident d’entretien, de propreté, de qualité de service et de soin apporté à l’expérience client. En l’état, nous avons eu le sentiment de séjourner dans un lieu qui ressemble davantage à une demeure laissée à l’abandon qu’à un établissement hôtelier à la hauteur de son cadre. Une véritable occasion manquée.

Beautiful setting. Extraordinary garden. It was nice to meet the interns from many places.

Room needs a deep clean. There is dust on the trim at the bottom of the walls, dead moths etc. It would be a nice gesture for Billy or Penn to come out and greet us. We me Pamm and she was very nice.

We had a great stay, beautiful location plus the weather was an added bonus.

Персонал не дружній. Важко порозумітись, відчувається абсолютна байдужість та недбалість. Їжа лише тайська, вибір не великий. Зі сніданком теж не дуже. Обслуговування досить неприємне та псує загальне враження. Готель занедбаний, потребує ремонту та догляду. Відчувається що любові в нього не вкладають вже досить довгий час. Їжа досить проста та не апетитна, посередня. Аби не це дивовижне місце (сад) я б не приїхала сюди. Але ціна досить невисока відносно Ірландії тож можливо воно того вартує. Таксі викликати неможливо, лише якесь приватне таксі з готелю яке коштує в 5 разів дорожче ніж будь яке інше. Грубі відповіді на відгуки що підтверджує недбалість та нерозуміння що таке керування готелем.

We stayed in the Alexander room which was a lovely large room with views of the sea. Gardens are amazing and worth a visit even if you are not staying in the hotel.

Absolutely stunning views and the garden is spectacular we enjoyed our stay immensely and will definitely return.

Slightly let down by some small details. If some minor matters were addressed it would be one of the best places of its type that we've ever stayed in.

Stunning hidden gem overlooking the dingle peninsula. A must stay for plant and garden lovely as the gardens are fantastic. This property is very secluded and perfect for those who want to switch off but maybe be a little quiet for those who need more stimulus. Third time here.

Breakfast should be included in the room rate in my opinion.

Leider ist das Haus und die Einrichtung schon in die Jahre gekommen. Das Restaurant macht einen ordentlichen Eindruck und die Gäste, die dort gespeist haben, waren sehr zufrieden.

Leider alles ein wenig in die Jahre gekommen. Die Bettwäsche und die Handtücher waren alle sauber. Allerdings waren die Zimmer nicht sehr sauber. Überall Staub etc.

Needs to decide if it's a hotel or a garden centre. Like some dowager marchioness who no longer makes an effort because she was at the queen's coronation in 1953, this place comes complete with staff who are aggrieved to have guests. There is no reception to speak of, and you have to go looking for someone who works here. Our room was big but not clean with black mould in the bathroom and cobweb-encrusted light fitting. There was no hot water the evening we arrived. Breakfast is between 0830 and 0930, so if you're catching the 0800 boat to Skelligs then tough luck. The "new" card machine apparently doesn't handle long division, so the "receptionist" tells each person how much they pay irrespective of what you had. Letters from royalty and RHS gold medals (there were 24 golds this year) point to skills better used in the garden than those needed to run a hotel. The undertone is slightly schizophrenic, like an old English house with lovely gardens and views, struggling to keep up with an Ireland that knows it deserves better these days.

It is a beautiful old home in a secluded garden setting. The breakfast and dinner menus were excellent.

The guest areas in the house are musty and dusty and need better airing and cleaning. There was a lot of mould in our bathroom, dirty carpet and windows. It needs better cleaning maintenance to justify the cost of the accommodation.

Le jardin tropical est magnifique ! Les lits étaient confortables et la baignoire (hors de la chambre mais salle de bains privée) était immense.

La chambre était pas mal mais il faisait une chaleur horrible et on ne pouvait pas ouvrir la fenêtre ! La dame qui nous a accueilli était plus occupée à servir les gens du restaurant...

The bed was very comfortable and the room was nicely laid out. The decor was very nice.

The view was underwhelming from our room. The doors and woodwork need a good clean. We ate at the restaurant. It was very slow, and not great.

Beautiful location with comfortable rooms. We really enjoyed walking through the gardens and also having dinner at the restaurant there. We had never been to Kells Bay. It was quite a scenic place!

It was a little challenging to find as it’s back off the main road. You might wonder if you missed the turn off…, but if you have GPS it shouldn’t be a bother. Other than that minor detail , we all had a great experience there.

A beautiful and historic house, with lovely views. Nicely furnished and decorated with interesting pictures. I bought one of them! Very comfortable bed and spacious accommodation. The garden was wonderful: full of fabulous tree ferns. We enjoyed the walk down to the shore. Charming staff, good food.

I found it very hot in the building.

We had a great time at Kells Bay House and really enjoyed the dinner at Sala Thai! The room was big, you just had to watch your head walking down the stairs from the entrance. The breakfast was also good and we loved the walk through the garden.

We went in just to get a coffee, ended up staying the night. Clean, good food, big room, comfy bed, beautiful location, beautiful gardens.

Die Appartments sind mitten in dem dazugehörigen Garten gelegen, traumhaft und sehr ruhig. Durch den Garten kann man super spazieren gehen. Es ist eine aussergewöhnliche Location um zu übernachten. Sehr erwähnenswert ist das zugehörige Thai Restaurant das wirklich sehr sehr gutes Essen anbietet zu einem vernünftigen Preis. Das Frühstück war ebenfalls sehr gut und das Personal war freundlich. Die Betten fanden wir ebenfalls sehr bequem.

Wir hatten die Dingle Bay Suite gebucht da wir mit 3 Erwachsenen 2 Schlafzimmer brauchen und ganz gerne auch 2 Bäder haben. Das 2. Bad ist gleich am Eingang und der Rest des Appartments einen Stock höher. Die Bäder sind zwar relativ neu gestrichen aber nicht wirklich renoviert, der erste Blick macht einen sehr schlechten Eindruck. Alles sah leicht verschimmelt aus. Im Master Bedroom war das Bad ebenfalls dringend renovierungsbedürftigt. Die Einrichtung sonst bestand aus einem etwas lieblos hingestellten Sessel und 2 Stühlen, also für den Aufenthalt abends nicht geeignet. Allerdings hat es in dem Guesthouse noch einen sogenannten Livingroom gegeben den aber niemand benutzt hat.

The gardens are unique and beautiful. The Thai restaurant was convenient and the food was delicious.

The entire hotel appears "tired" and outdated. The rooms need updating.

Dinner im asiatischen Restaurant war ausgezeichnet. Frühstückt hat uns ebenfalls sehr gefallen.

Sehr sympathisches und herzliches Personal. Die Lage ist wirklich besonders, mitten in der Natur und genau wie beschrieben. Das Essen war ebenfalls super lecker und die gesamte Anlage hat sehr viel Charme.

The Gardens are remarkable, and the house is lovely . Our Bayview suite was delightful.

The Tower Suite was lovely. It was wonderful to have a "living room" area to spread out in after a long day of travel. The beds were comfortable. Very clean and nicely decorated. Lovely views of the ocean down the hill and gardens. The gardens reminded me a lot of home as we have many of the same tropical trees, shrubs and plants :-). Beautiful waterfall. Several sweet ladies showed us to our rooms. Would definitely recommend!

We were traveling with an elderly person. Access to the Tower Suite is only thru outside steps and it was raining hard when we arrived, the steps were steep, uneven, and very very slippery (no handrail). It was challenging to get our luggage and our elderly person safely up those steps. I believe that many of the other rooms have a more traditional, ground level entrance and wouldn't be a problem--but do ask if it is a concern.

Check in was awkward. No central desk. Didn't know what we had stepped into. Exterior door and door to stairway slammed shut each time. And extra blanket would have been nice. Had to use robes on bed.

Lovely period property with wonderful gardens. Pom and Kayla were really friendly, welcoming and helpful. They gave us some suggestions on places to visit in the area. Breakfast was very good, great start to each day.

The only thing we would have liked, and we knew about it when we booked, was a room with an en-suite. Our bathroom was very clean and private but out on the landing.

The woodland garden here is staggeringly beautiful. You need to leave at least 1 hour to take it all in. The house itself is charming, presented well, and everything was clean. A Thai restaurant out here seemed a little unusual but it was great, particularly the plate of starters for two that we had. We didn't catch her name but the Portuguese girl who was waitress and receptionist needs a special mention - hard working, high spirited and very welcoming. But just to return to the garden because it is the highlight of this hotel and what an amazing job they have 👏

Water pressure in the sink was very low (although in the shower it was fine). The only other thing we didn't like was leaving!

Very well maintained mansion house set in beautiful gardens, tucked away from busy roads - so peaceful. Excellent attention from the staff and top notch service at the restaurant. A highlight of our entire trip to Ireland.
