Reviewed Aug 5, 2026Lovely friendly owner who had made a most enjoyable and quirky place to stay with all facilities (shame we were there for only one night) as required and beautifully appointed. The extensive garden area and bar were an added bonus, although as it was winter time, we didn't get to use them.
That we couldn't make use of the lovely garden area!

Reviewed Jun 18, 2026This was a very comfortable overnight stop after catching the ferry from Wellington. It was easy to find and I appreciated having breakfast provided - cereals, fruit, yoghurt, toast and jam, tea and coffee. There was a nice outdoor space I didn't get to use, and likewise a bar area that looked like a cosy space for a couple to relax.
Space in the bathroom is a bit restricted but still very useable. A bit more light when walking around the house in the dark would be appreciated.

Parkplatz auf der Strasse vor der Tür. - Sehr freundlicher und persönlicher Empfang. - Das Zimmer sehr plüschig eingerichtet, es hatte Charme. Kleines Bett (Queensize), für uns etwas eng und zu weich, nur eine Bettdecke. Die Bettdecke viel zu dick für den Sommer. Wir schliefen nur unter dem Laken. - Kleine Küchenzeile, wo man sich selber das Frühstück zubereitet mit Toast, Butter, Konfitüren, auch Müsli, Cornflakes etc. -
Die Bettwäsche war muffig und die Bettdecke zu dick. Sehr kleines Bad mit enger Dusche und Toilette. Kein Abzug.

Reviewed May 14, 2026Das ist die liebevollste Unterkunft die wir auf unserer Reise hatten, sowohl von der Einrichtung als auch Gastgeberin. Lisa hat uns sozusagen "gerettet" und uns die Möglichkeit der Fährüberfahrt auf die Nordinsel organisiert, als die gebuchte Fähre kaputt ging. Sie hat uns auch nochmal nach sehr langer Wartezeit an der Fähre die Möglichkeit gegeben uns auszuruhen... ohne sie wäre unser Urlaub im Desaster geendet. Ganz herzlichen Dank an Lisa und absolute Empfehlung!!!

Reviewed Apr 29, 2026Owner was adorable. We only stayed one (rainy) night and didn’t have time to use the bar that we had to ourselves. The place is as the photos tell, very thoughtfully decorated but practical to use. Bed is comfortable and the place is quiet. Bathroom is indeed narrow, but wasn’t an issue for us. There was more than enough food (cereal, yoghurt, bread, jams etc…) for the breakfast

Reviewed Apr 3, 2026Great location for our impending ferry trip to the North Island. Lisa and Andy are super hosts ! Room is really comfortable , well maintained , peaceful and relaxing . We both had a really good nights sleep.
My only regret was we should have stayed a few more nights 😃

La reconstitution du pub irlandais à disposition dans la pièce d'a côté valait le détour. Bref un séjour qui ne laisse pas indifférent dans une maion avec une vraie personnalité particulièrement attachante.

Reviewed Mar 30, 2026Unique, cozy unit with a lot of character. Lisa was very helpful and offered recommendations for the area if we weren't sure what we were going to do. Beautiful property with a nice garden. Bed was comfortable. Great location - close to town and hikes.
It was a wee bit cramped due to all of the furniture and trinkets. Nothing major but was noticeable.

The room is spacious, the bed is comfortable and there are plenty of lovely areas to sit outside and enjoy. The book collection is entertaining and there are plenty of games, movies and the spa pool if the weather is not in your favor for exploring. Thank you Lisa and Andy for making this an oasis to relax in and, thank you for helping me to get to and from my drop off point when my ride was held up on the ferry. I will be back😊

Loved the hot tub and the pub made this place extra special. The garden and outdoor areas were lovely and tranquil. We would def come back and stay here again.

Alles war super sauber. Das Badezimmer war eine nette kleine Oase mit vielen gut riechenden Fläschchen. Das Frühstück war perfekt. Die Gartenanlage war allerliebst und gemütlich ausgestattet.

The outdoor area for our use was great, and the surprise extra room (which we didn't have time to use). Lovely breakfast, thank you. Our host was very engaging and welcoming.
The bathroom is a bit narrow with regard to the toilet area.

The neighborhood is peaceful and quiet, and you can even see the mountains from nearby. The yard is large with plenty of seating areas to relax, and their cat is absolutely adorable too. I really enjoyed my stay here. Highly recommended!

Goede douche maar wel erg krap/klein vooral als je groot bent zoals wij. Inrichting was apart, sfeervol maar als je zoals wij op doorreis bent en veel bagage bij hebt staat de kamer iets te vol. Ik was bang om iets om te stoten. Maar prima voor een nachtje
iets minder decoratie zou fijn zijn maar dit is natuurlijk persoonlijk en niet echt een probleem

One of the highlights of our stay was when she took us to a beautiful lookout giving us a chance to enjoy stunning views. She went beyond in every way including kindly dropping us off at the interislander terminal. We are very grateful for her hospitality and would absolutely recommend staying here to anyone visiting the area. A wonderful host and am unforgettable experience!

Lisa & Andy were really friendly. They had lots of tips about the local area, and even offered me a lift into town which was really appreciated.

Reviewed Mar 18, 2025This is a dream property with amazing hosts. You feel welcomed the moment you enter the gate. They have created such cozy spaces for guests and the provide great amenities like coffee and tea, toast and other small breakfast items. I appreciated the small fridge in the room, pressure in the shower and how quiet it was at night. I also walked to town and it was easy and fun. There’s a lot to do in this part of the world! Thanks for the great stay Lisa and Andy!
