Lage sehr nah an der Stadt - Restaurants, Supermarkt und Busstation alles zu Fuß erreichbar. Der Sohn des Besitzers hat eine tolle Safari mit uns gemacht. Der Pool ist groß und sauber.

Het is een SUPER zwembad, De toekomst plannen lijken mooi, De eigenaar is vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Het ontbijt is zonder veel franjes maar wel voldoende en verzorgd.

We hadden de standaard familie kamer, die foto’s stonden niet op Booking, bijgevolg hadden we een iets hogere verwachting. Indien we wensten konden we wel nog de deluxe familie kamer nemen (maar gezien we hier maar voor 1 dag bleven hebben het zo gelaten) als je iets meer luxe wil vraag dan zeker dat je op het eerste verdiep verblijft. De stad zelf is niet echt verzorgd maar als je houdt van een authentieke lokale sfeer…

S’avonds laat vriendelijk ontvangen door de eigenaar. We verbleven in de familiekamer op de 1e etage; deze was ruim voor ons gezin van vier. De ruimte was enigszins schoon, het sanitair zat zoals overal in Sri Lanka los en lekte wat; maar dat hinderde verder niet. Diens vriendelijke zoon heeft ons vervoerd naar zowel de Cave Temple en andere plekken rondom Dambulla, even als naar onze volgende bestemming. Het complex wordt door de eigenaar en diens team zelf verbouwd (renovatie en uitbreiding) maar daar hadden wij geen last van. Prijs kwaliteitsverhouding is prima, verwacht geen vier sterren resort.

Struttura appena ristrutturata e in espansione. Camera molto ampia e nuova. Parte esterna carina e conviviale. Piscina nuova molto bella. Personale gentile e molto disponibile, ci hanno aiutato su tutto.

Puzza di muffa in stanza, bagno sporco, polvere dappertutto anche in reception. Una sola presa funzionante, vetri alle finestre pressoché inesistenti, abbiamo chiesto la cena sotto loro suggerimento ma non ci è stata data.

Hanno cercato di rifilare una camera che aveva evidenti problemi di umidità e hanno voluto un sovrapprezzo nonostante le camere da noi prenotate non fossero tutte disponibili

El millor, sens dubte, ha estat el tracte i l'atenció rebuda per part de tot l'equip, sempre amables i disposats a ajudar-nos en tot moment. També vam contractar amb ells el safari a Minneriya, i va ser tot un èxit. Tot va estar molt ben organitzat i vam gaudir d'una experiència inoblidable. I per acabar, la meva filla també vol fer la seva aportació sobre l'hotel: "M'ha agradat molt la piscina!" Moltes gràcies per fer que la nostra estada fos tan especial. Sens dubte, un lloc que recomanarem i al qual ens encantaria tornar.

Si haguéssim de destacar algun aspecte millorable, seria la connexió wifi a les habitacions, ja que no sempre arriba amb prou cobertura o estabilitat.

The upstairs rooms were modern, very clean, and comfortable. The staff were exceptional: friendly, accommodating, and genuinely hospitable throughout our stay. The location was convenient, and overall it offered good value for money, especially if you book the upstairs rooms.

The downstairs rooms could use significant renovation. They feel dated and would benefit from upgrades and a fresh coat of paint. Considering the price difference is minimal, they don’t offer the same value as the upstairs rooms. Also, while breakfast was decent, it was quite basic. Adding a curry or parippu would make it much better.

Proche du centre ville Piscine magnifique Chambre spacieuse et de qualité. Nous y avons passé qu'une journée / nuit mais on est pas sorti de l'hôtel. Nous avions besoin de repos en fin de séjour. Le personnel est aux petits soins. Bières / frites à dispo pour les enfants en plein milieu de l'après midi, repas.

Conversion un peu haute euros / roupies mais c'est ok

Emplacement parfait, près de toutes les commodités et moyens de transport (banques, magasins, marché, gare...). Le personnel est charmant et toujours prêt à aider avec le sourire. L'accueil du propriétaire est particulièrement chaleureux. De plus, toujours de bons conseils pour les visites et pour se déplacer. La grande piscine est très belle avec 1 partie réservée à ceux qui ne savent pas nager. Bons petits déjeuners copieux et possibilité de dîner le soir (également copieux). Très bon rapport qualité/prix.

La salle de bain de la chambre triple mérite 1 rénovation.

La localització, la bona connexió Wifi, la piscina i sobretot el personal. Bon esmorzar també.

La piscina

Las fotos de la habitación y del hotel no se corresponden con las publicadas. Muebles e instalaciones que necesitan una renovación urgente. El personal es muy atento y agradable. Situación céntrica.

Great location close to the main street but hidden and calm. Swimming pool was a perfect addition. Breakfast was rich with fun and tasty fruits. You can also choose asian breakfast. Room was clean, not completely insect proof but very comfortable. The host is very eager to provide all the extra services you need (transportation, sightseeing, safari etc..). Maybe a little disappointed when we didn’t want anything from him.

Very subjective opinion - it may be nice to spread your money across the whole community if you have the energy. However the guest can arrange anything and will take a good care of you!

Staying at Gamagedara was an exceptional experience. The place itself is great: a bed with a real mattress, a swimming pool one can actually swim in, and a solid breakfast prepared according to my dietary preferences and requirements (see the photo). Another aspect that sets this place apart is the opportunity to go on a safari with Giha, the son of the owner of Gamagedara. Our visit to Minneriya National Park was timed perfectly: we saw ~ 100 elephants total, always had a perfect place for taking photos, and sometimes so close to animals that one could almost touch them. Giha is an experienced elephant safari guide with over 100 guided safaris under his belt. He seems to recognize many of the animals and knows their temperaments, so we felt very safe. Oh, and the price was competitive. The family also organizes custom-made trips to many places in the area, in their Toyota Prius or by tuk-tuk. I am planning to come back in a week to explore local attractions that people normally do not get to enjoy. E.g., see the photo of Giha with a captive tusker elephant.

The room was clean and comfortable, the staff were friendly and welcoming, and the location was excellent. It was easy to access, and there was ample parking space, which made the stay very convenient.

The only minor drawback was that noise from other guests could sometimes be heard. It didn't bother me personally, but it may be an issue for light sleepers.

Beautiful new rooms and pool. Book upstairs rooms. Well worth it. Gama is a great guy. The place is a work in progress.

Here’s a polished review you can post: Title: Misleading Listing – Not Recommended Our recent stay was very disappointing. The property is completely misleading. Many of the amenities advertised on Booking.com simply do not exist. There was no drinking water in the room, and several other listed facilities were missing. There was no proper welcome when we arrived. We also felt that other guests, especially white guests, received a much warmer welcome than we did, which made us feel uncomfortable. Our booking included breakfast, but we were surprisingly charged extra for tea. This was unacceptable and very disappointing. This is not a resort as advertised. In my opinion, it is only a very basic one-star guest house. I would not recommend this property unless the listing is updated to accurately reflect what is actually provided.

The location is great, really close to the bus station, with a beautiful garden and a swimming pool. The rooms are new and very clean, with hot water and air conditioning. The owner also offers tuk-tuk rides to Lion Rock and the cave temples, at reasonable prices and with excellent service. When we left, they even gave us a free ride to the bus station. This is the hotel with the best service I've stayed at in Sri Lanka.

Nous avons adoré cet endroit ! Repas et petit déjeuner Délicieux. Ils nous ont laissés le choix (européen ou spécialités de chez eux) Chambre propre et Énorme piscine. L’hébergement est au calme à 2 pas de la rue principal ! Les hôtes étaient d’une gentillesse indéfinissable. C’est le cœur lourd que nous quittons ce lieux .

SCAM ALERT. We were asked to cancel the booking.com reservation upon arrival in return for a 20% discount. Our large group of 20 people had several rooms and on Check-out the owner tried to use excessively increased prices that he looked up on booking.com (but he had increased them after our arrival, and then pretended that the new increased prices were the ones that our fake discount was applied to). One of us was charged almost 50 USD more and then had a long and nerve-wrecking discussion with the owner. For one room upgrade we were told on check-in that it cost 20 USD per night, and charged double this rate on check out. The owner also added a 10% service charge to the food, tried to charge us 10 euros for swimming in the pool once, added his own service charge to safari booking with a third party, and charged 700 rs for each kg of laundry which he then grossly overestimated (my friend was charged for 4 kg laundry which was way too much). Avoid this scam hole at all cost, the owner just wants to cheat and lie. I am trying to get this hotel removed from this website. Also, the standard/budget rooms are damp and stink. Look up the recent reviews on Google, I think the review content on booking com might be fake. The neighbour hotel staff also told our bus driver that the owner of this hotel is known for being dishonest.

Is very well located. You are close to city centre and Cave Temple. The owner is the kindest person you’ll ever meet… Very helpful and attentive. This stay is absolute good value… Breakfast was very nice as well

as solo traveller room was really good. as early morning i went for outing so i couldnt had the breakfast, so no idea. But that stuffs are quite nice. its not as like resort catagory its more like home stay. i like it.

It's not even a resort / hotel. It's just a bigger house. Noisy af for the whole day and night. People keep walking around, doing construction work, cooking, talking non stop... No toiletries, only a soap. no hot shower, and the shower head is broken, the water flow just like a tap water, unable to shower at all if hanging it. Limited toilet paper. There's ac but not included I guess. There's no way for us to on. No wifi provider, when I requested they just ignore. To all the SOLO FEMALE travelers please avoid here. The owner brought me to the room, he gave me a hug before he left, I'm a Malaysian and we are not so open and I believe Sri Lanka is same as well, this makes me feel very strange and weird.

It was okayish side considering the low room price, nothing specifically bad but also not super good or something. It was single room I booked for, I was kind of expecting similar rooms which we find here in India. Staff doesn't know english but owner was helpful and was available on phone throughout my stay. Location was good, near walkable distance from bus stand

Il proprietario molto disponibile ad organizzare visite e tour ma poco trasparente sul prezzo. Si è offerto di accompagnarmi al Rock Cave Temple ma solo alla fine del soggiorno mi ha messo in conto il passaggio in macchina. Avevo chiesto informazioni anche per andare a Sigiriya ma non ha mai risposto alle mie richieste di sapere il prezzo. Avendo letto altre recensioni e non avendo buone sensazioni, ho organizzato in altro modo.

The location was great easy walk to town but wasn’t on a main road. The bedroom and shower were all in good condition and worked perfectly. The owner accommodated dietary requirements and preferences every meal (the food was great). We asked for a cream soda and the owner said sure thing, got in his tuk tuk drive to the shop and brought one back for us. The owner even played a Sri Lankan board game with us on two occasions, making the place feel very friendly and welcoming.

Ejeren var fantastisk sød og meget hjælpsom med ture til sigriya rock Temple. Vi følte os meget velkommen. 2 rigtige søde katte og en virkelig flink hane som vi snakkede med dagligt. Beliggendhed var rigtig god, tæt på centrum uden for meget larm.

Lidt mange myg men sådan er det når man bor i naturen. Wifi var ikke så stabilt men ejeren gjorde alt for at fikse det for os.

这家住宿是临时改的，因为整个地区晚上要停电，原来那家没有发电机，临时换到这家，但他家发电机可能小了🙄仅供照明几小时就停了好几次，好长时间用蜡烛，关键是停电还停水😓晚上十点多地区才恢复了供电。所以住了两晚遇到停电一晚。小老板和员工还是很热情👍🏻服务随叫随到👍🏻

免费早餐一般，我们临时换了一个在楼上的房间，老板加了一晚30美金共60美金，有点贵，老板明知当晚要停电还是没有给优惠😓

Very friendly and helpful staff who gave good recommandations for excursions as well. Everything else perfectly in order. We had a really nice time here, would definitely recommend!

Accommodation is perfectly positioned for everything that you need in the town such as banks and eateries etc. The room was spacious and the bed very comfortable. The breakfast was very good and everything cooked and prepared freshly. The owner speaks English very well and is able to provide lots of information about things to do and onward travel within the country. He is very keen to be helpful as are all his friendly stuff. Sometimes a bit too keen! It was spotlessly clean. That is also a nice communal area outside. It is set back from the main road and very quiet. The Wi-Fi was good. The owner is able to arrange tours to visit the local elephant reserves. It's good value for money.

The bathroom hard rather and odd layout with the toilet at a very peculiar angle!

Un des meilleurs hébergements de notre voyage au Sri Lanka ! Cet endroit est tenu par un père et son fils absolument adorables, toujours souriants, disponibles et prêts à aider pour tout. On se sent tout de suite comme à la maison. L’accueil est sincère et chaleureux, ce qui rend le séjour vraiment spécial. La chambre était très propre, confortable et bien entretenue. Pour le prix, c’est clairement une excellente affaire. Le rapport qualité-prix est exceptionnel. Le petit déjeuner est délicieux et copieux, avec des produits frais et locaux — parfait pour bien commencer la journée avant de partir visiter les environs. Les propriétaires organisent aussi des excursions (Sigiriya, Pidurangala, safari, etc.) à des prix très raisonnables et toujours avec de bons conseils. Ils font tout pour que votre séjour se passe parfaitement. Si vous cherchez un endroit simple, authentique, propre et très accueillant à Dambulla, ne cherchez plus. Nous recommandons cet hébergement à 100 % et nous reviendrons avec plaisir lors de notre prochain passage au Sri Lanka !
