Frühstück und Abendessen wurden liebevoll gemacht und schmeckten sehr lecker. Die Kuchen waren fantastisch. Wir wären gerne länger geblieben ❤️❤️ Personal und Besitzer waren ausgesprochen freundlich und hilfsbereit

The initial arrival did not feel as if we arrived at a decent place, but once we came through the gates at the back of the dirt road, we knew we were going to be fine.

A unique, clever mix of old traditional furniture with ultra new modern ones like the high quality linen, insect nets, electric blankets etc. Covers for vehicles during frosty Free State nights was a welcome idea. Friendly well trained helpful staff. Highly recommended as a half way stop from Gauteng to CTA. , or a Karoo experience.

Reviewed Aug 2, 2026What a gem! Beautifully decorated, spacious rooms - each with its own fenced in courtyard. Pet friendly. Super comfortable beds. The owners and the team are super warm and welcoming. I have stayed here multiple times over the years and each visit is better than the last - you can instantly feel the love and care that has gone into creating the best experience for their guests.

Reviewed Jun 20, 2026Warm and informative welcome by very friendly staff. Secure on-site parking. Both the dinner and breakfast were excellentltly prepared and tasty karoo meals. The bedroom was large, spotlessly clean and comfortable with crisp linen and an electric blanket, which we used for pre-heating! The bathroom en-suite had a large walk-in shower with very good water heat and pressure. The property is historic, quirky and full of interesting details. Do not be put off by the approach to Richmond centre or the outside appearance of this property .. you would miss out on a delightful experience!
Nothing to fault with the property itself, but Richmond is very much a tale of two cities. Much of downtown Richmond is dilapidated and dingy, but the area at the northern end has been very tastefully restored, and we believe that crime rates are very low

The lamb chops and breakfast were among the best experiences I have had on my 40 years of traving. The town itself is worth a visit.
Be careful with the cobblestone path.

Reviewed May 17, 2026We were so pleasantly surprised by this adorable town and incredible property! Klaradyn and her team went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. The room was not only well-equipped but it was also exceptionally decorated; we appreciated all of the thoughtful and artistic touches. We ordered pizzas from the restaurant for dinner and they were delicious!
Despite a fire and electric heating, we did feel a little bit cold in some parts of the room; but being a large family room at a very cold time of year, it made sense. The staff still did their very best to make us comfortable.

Bathrooms are fantastic. Thank you for the delicious Karoo lamb waiting for us after a long drive. You even lit a fire. Much appreciated. Thank you.

Room was immaculate & had all the necessary - exceeded even my jaded requirements. The food in the restaurant was excellent & the staff were just brilliant. Even helped park my Edgeout (caravan) for the night.
Well, what can I say - not much. I do still get irritated if there are no tissues in the room. Really!!! That is all I can bitch about. Was a great experience

It truly feels like an oasis, a place where you can completely unwind while still enjoying a sense of understated luxury. Every detail is considered, from the decor to the overall flow of the space. The staff are consistently warm and attentive, and the facilities are excellent. The rooms are not only comfortable but beautifully designed, making it a pleasure to spend time in them. I genuinely have no complaints, it’s just an all-round fantastic stay every time. If anything, I’d highly recommend stopping by the Padstal on your way out, it’s the perfect final touch to an already memorable experience.

Everything lovely really, and we will definitely book it again for when we’re back from CT. Aircons work perfectly, linen comfortable, beds even though are bit hard, they are comfortable. My kids loved everything
To me the only bad thing is just the water, comes cold and hot cold and hot all the time, doesn’t get stable
