Reviewed Aug 6, 2026Etablissement au calme, très agréable. La petite ville de Richmond a beaucoup de charme. Pas de restaurant mais nous avons très bien mangé au Richmond café and rooms. Les chambres sont très spacieuses, bien équipées et les lits confortables. Place de parking sécurisée et une grande cuisine en plus à disposition, bien équipée. Chambres équipées de climatisation réversible et matelas chauffants dans les lits. Décoration à l'ancienne mais de bon goût.
Les salles de bains sont très froides en cette saison. Un chauffage supplémentaire serait bienvenu, ainsi que dans la cuisine. Sinon tout était parfait. Une table plus grande sur la terrasse pour le petit déjeuner ou un dîner près du barbecue serait à ajouter ( unités 7-8).

The taps in bathroom basin & shower should be mixer style. It was very cold & was not nice washing your hands with icy cold water or very hot water. Shower taps don't work so well being separate either & would've preferred a stronger flow with the shower pressure, especially after a long car ride.

Reviewed Jun 19, 2026Really comfortable and safe. Cars parked behind locked gate and the little outside patio is also behind the locked gates. The room has everything you need and the beds all have electric blankets as it can get very cold in Richmond. You are encouraged to use the aircon to warm the room. Shower is comfortable and water is hot. Two coffee options and tea etc availble with rusks en fresh milk in the fridge. You don’t hear the traffic from the N1. There are numerous restaurant options available which is communicated before arrival. The check in and out was very easy. Host responds very quickly to messages via whatsapp.

Reviewed Jun 4, 2026Great comms from our hosts beforehand. Our host was fantastic on our arrival (it was raining and he met us with umbrellas). Premises are very secure. Lovely room with lots of space, electric blanket, aircon (heat), TV, fridge, etc.
Although the bathroom is super comfortable with lots of space, character and a lovely bath, a shower would be an added bonus.

Parking and security was good all the info and restaurant suggestions were very helpful and informative We were welcomed and checked in by Andiswa Swanepoel. She was very friendly, helpful and explained everything very well to us. She is defnitely a great asset for her employers and Rusgenot. The food and service at Pats restaurant are also recommendable if you like good home cooking.
Nothing what I did not like, the aircon was a big relieve in the heat. I just do not think it will be suitable for a romantic getaway. But this is an exellent stopover to Gauteng.

The guests next door us were chain smokers, so it was unpleasant to sit outside with our 2 young kids as we were constantly sitting in their smoke, given that the stoeps were next to each other. A defined smoking area away from everyone's stoeps should be demarkated.

Reviewed Sep 28, 2025Richmond is a convenient small Karoo town in which to stay when travelling between the Cape and the northern provinces. Rusegnot guest house provides very adequate accommodation in the main street, with secure off-street parking. Ideal for an overnight stay when passing through. A real highlight was the Richmond Supper Club for dinner - just 200m from Rusegnot and situated in a very historic old house and stables - a real gem with excellent food and very interesting furnishings.

Gate to car parking a hazzle in the rain. Unit is very cold in winter. Loop Street in front of the unit is noisy. Speed bumps in Loop Street would solve the problem. If a recommmendation to the municipality is not successful, rename the street to Jaag/Chase Street.
