Casa Picva

Casa Picva is a beautiful and historic property, lovingly maintained and presented. We loved the location, its easy proximity to the walled town of Obidos (just outside, right beside a lower gate) but still quiet and away from the crowds. The owner João was welcoming and very generously allowed us to park our two cars in his parking spots to save us the trouble of finding street parking.

There was nothing to dislike. It was wonderful.

This is a distinctive historic home right outside the medieval walls of Óbidos. Feels like a museum with historic furniture, art and collectibles on display. Joao is a very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable host. Onsite parking is a plus. Rooms are comfortable, quaint well equipped.

What an exceptional place! The property is gorgeous and has been in the hosts’ family for many generations. The breakfast was an absolute standout with homemade jams (each more delicious than the next!), homemade pastéis de nata, and much more. It felt like eating in a museum, extremely attentive and lovely stay. The location was also phenomenal right by the old city walls - something out of a dream. Do not hesitate to stay here!

Everything was perfect. We were in Portugal for a week, and Obidos was the best day thanks to this lovely accomodations. The house has charachters and the hosts are very welcoming and passionate about the place

Prachtig, 17-de eeuws huis met allerlei antiek waarover de eigenaar met veel liefde vertelt. Comfortabele kamer met perfecte zetel en lamp om even te lezen. Ook goed bed en douche. Uitgebreid, lekker ontbijt. Tuin met plekken om te zitten. Direct aan zij-ingang van de ommuurde stad gelegen. Parkeren voor de deur.

Todo! La casa es preciosa y la vista es magica, Joao es super atento y la casa tiene muchisimos elementos históricos increíbles, el desayuno tambien es delicioso y hecho en casa. De verdad es una joya escondida en un pueblo bellísimo.

Die herrliche Einrichtung passt wunderbar zum historischen Ambiente von Óbidos und macht den Aufenthalt zu etwas ganz Besonderem. Besonders hervorheben möchten wir auch die Gastgeber. Sie waren ausgesprochen herzlich, freundlich und hilfsbereit. Ihre hervorragenden Sprachkenntnisse haben die Kommunikation sehr angenehm und unkompliziert gemacht. Das Frühstück wurde mit viel Liebe zubereitet. Die Lage ist ideal, um Óbidos zu erkunden, und gleichzeitig bietet die Casa Picva eine gemütliche und ruhige Atmosphäre zum Entspannen. Wir haben uns hier rundum wohlgefühlt und würden die Casa Picva jederzeit wieder buchen. Eine ganz klare Empfehlung für alle, die Óbidos besuchen möchten!

Casa storica ben curata, sembra di fare un tuffo nel passato. Parcheggio davanti alla struttura. Ingresso al centro storico a pochi metri. Il titolare ci ha offerto un liquore tipico all'arrivo e dei pasteis de nata alla partenza. La camera era molto spaziosa.

Quaint beautifully decorated home with comfortable rooms and fabulous breakfast. The host was very kind and made good recommendations for a scenic drive to our next stop.

La casa è un viaggio nella storia, praticamente un museo con un bravissimo anfitrione. Molto accogliente, ci si sente in una vera casa con una profonda eredità storica di cui trasudano le mura e le suppellettili. Posizione fantastica per la visita alla cittadina, che è molto piccola e fruibile in mezza giornata. Tutto davvero grazioso.

Parcheggio su strada, ma un posto si trova sempre e non è stato un problema. Obidos è così.

Una casa con magia. Alojarse en casa picva es entrar a vivir la experiencia de Obidos al 100%. La habitación es de 10, con un jardín precioso. Todo super limpio y la recepción de Joao fue como estar en casa.

Casa antica con volte e arredo importante con pezzi di antiquariato e decorata minuziosamente. Camere spaziose, pulite ed accoglienti, con salottino, libreria e camino. Biancheria di pregio. Consiglio vivamente la colazione, che non e' inclusa nel prezzo iniziale, che e' un'esperienza culinaria da fare, gustata nella grande sala da pranzo con stoviglie d'epoca. Giardino con piccolo laghetto e alberi da frutta. Il proprietario Johao ti accoglie al meglio dandoti molte informazioni su Obidos e dintorni.

Quarto fantástico. A casa é maravilhosa e com muita história.

Il proprietario ci ha accolto con grande gentilezza e ci ha raccontato la storia della famiglia e del borgo di Obidos, mostrandoci i pezzi notevoli di mobilio e antiquariato. Gli spazi sono affascinanti, la camera grande e confortevole, il piccolo giardino delizioso. La sontuosa colazione nella grande sala da pranzo, un’esperienza da provare! Grazie per l’ospitalità, consiglio vivamente un soggiorno a Casa Picva!

Joao est très accueillant et attentionné. Sa maison a beaucoup de charme et l’emplacement est parfait par rapport aux remparts d’Obidos. Merci beaucoup pour son hospitalité et ses bons conseils!

Eu e meu marido gostamos de tudo! A Casa Picva é maravilhosa. Nos sentimos mesmo em casa, com a acolhida carinhosa do casal Ana e Joao. Ele nos deu aula de historia e falou com muito orgulho de todo o mobiliário de vários séculos e origens. O quarto é enorme, o chuveiro ótimo e a localização perfeita - uma das portas de entrada para a muralha fica a poucos passos. O café da manhã servido numa mesa grande do século XIX é delicioso e um charme à parte! Achamos que valeu muito pagar os 12€ e poder degustar de pães, queijos, geleias, iogurte, fruta, café, leite espumoso quentinho… na companhia de outros hóspedes, como num café em família! Conhecemos um casal e o filho franceses muito simpáticos! Amamos!

Sehr herzliche Gastgeber, tolle Einrichtung, sehr sauber. Direkt an der Stadtmauer mit eigenem Parkplatz. Mega Frühstück mit selbstgemachten Sachen. Man merkt, wie viel Liebe in dieser Unterkunft steckt.

Casa Picva offers apartments situated directly below the medieval walls of Óbidos, providing immediate access to the historic town. The interior resembles a small castle, and the owners seem to belong to the same timeless world. The room was comfortable and pleasant.

Casa Picva is like a museum, the room, the furniture, the pictures, the antiques and everything else is just beautiful. The hosts is very nice and knowledgeable with explanations on everything in the house. Nice breakfast with home baked rolls, homemade jams and homemade pastel de Nata in a beautiful dining room. The location is very convenient, next to an entry to the walled city and on-site parking which is great.

I had a lovely relaxing 2 nights at beautiful historic Casa Picva. It was a unique experience to be surrounded by such ancient artifacts. The host was generous in explaining the stories behind each of the objects. The breakfast is not to be missed!

One concern, if it is raining you need outside of the main house to get to your room.

Staying in a mansion built in the 1740s full of character and antique furniture is special. Casa Picva is just outside the town walls so is very well located. Our host is very knowledgeable, attentive and keen to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. The room was spotless and accessed via the garden, which we sat in before going to dinner. The breakfast is well worth having with home baked rolls, homemade jams and homemade pastel de Nata.Obidos is a special place to visit, so all in all our visit was exceptional.

We loved all of the historical components of this beautiful, unique home! The property is so close to the best restaurants and incredible views.

The location was very convenient being next to an entry to the walled city and we were fortunate to have on-site parking. The host greeted us on arrival and was good to provide guidance on visiting the town. The property is a family home and it was interesting to hear about its history and to see all the art and antiques. The breakfast provided by the host was terrific with homemade touches such fresh-baked pastel de nata (the best in Portugal), buns, and preserves.

We have no complaints.

Das Casa Picva ist etwas ganz spezielles, mit schönen, alten Möbeln sehr liebevoll und schön hergerichtet. Sucht man etwas Außergewöhnliches, ist man dort richtig. Die Lage in Obidos ist spitze, direkt an der Stadtmauer und man ist sofort mittendrin. Allerdings ist die Anfahrt etwas trickig, da sehr eng und abenteuerlich - für unsere Verhältnisse. Aber man hat einen Parkplatz! Das Frühstück wird vom Gastgeber selbst serviert, vielfältig und schön gestaltet. Wir haben es genossen. Vielen Dank!

We had an amazing stay here. The property is absolutely beautiful, with stunning views over Óbidos. Our host was incredibly attentive and helpful throughout our visit, making us feel very welcome. The breakfast was excellent and beautifully presented. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

Pousada maravilhosa. Os donos da casa, João e Ana, são super atenciosos e gentis. A casa tem ótimas instalações, cama e roupas de cama extremamente limpas e confortáveis. Tem história, tem memória, tem cultura. Uma verdadeira preciosidade. O hóspede tem uma sensação de estar em outro século durante o café da manhã, delicioso e servido em uma sala histórica com louças datadas de pelo menos um século e verdadeiras delícias feitas pela própria Ana. Super recomendo essa hospedagem-experiência histórica, em uma cidade que remete ao passado.

We felt like we went back in time! Everything was special and unique. The owner was amazing and explained everything we needed to know about the area. The room was big and had an exit to a big beautiful garden. I highly recommend!!

Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Wir wurden sehr herzlich empfangen, das Haus ist fantastisch. Wirklich wunderschön. Die Lage ist toll, Parkplätze direkt an der Stadtmauer und man ist zu Fuß sofort im Stadtzentrum. Das Frühstück ist außergewöhnlich toll. Jederzeit wieder und ein besonderes Dankeschön an den netten Inhaber.

Jolie petite maison d'époque avec sa cour intérieure et son joli petit jardin. Au pied des remparts emplacement idéal pour visiter. Parking facile a trouver et gratuit. Chambre dans son décor d'antan très appréciable. Réveil par le chant des oiseaux . L'hôte est très gentil passionné par l'histoire de sa maison et serviable pour donner des idées d'endroits a explorer aux alentours. Nous a offert la liqueur du coin a notre arrivée et le matin un délice de nata fais par ces soins.nous avons été reçu comme a la maison. Nous recommandons ++++ les yeux fermés.

It is literally steps from the walls of the old city of Obidos. It is charming, old school but extremely comfortable and relaxing. The hosts were gracious, lovely people.

Direkt an der Stadtmauer. Parkplatz vor der Tür. Super Frühstück für 12 Euro im sehr schönen Esszimmer. Die Hauswände und der Eigentümer haben viel zu berichten. Schöne Terrasse mit kleinem Teich vor dem Zummereingang. Sehr modernes Bad.

Die Beleuchtung im Zimmer war etwas wenig, aber ausreichend. Kein Fernseher, hätten wir eh nicht gebraucht.

Everything is great, from the host to the location, and breakfast. This house is full of history, the garden terrace was wonderful.

The hostess was very nice and knowledgeable. She went out of her way to be sure we had proper instructions to her beautiful home.

Wonderful stay in a very lovely location. The host João was gracious, charming and very knowledgeable; he was even able to direct us to a grove of cork trees we had expressed an interest in seeing. Obidos is absolutely beautiful.

We loved everything about Casa Picva. Joao is a wonderful host and has seen to every detail. His home is absolutely gorgeous and breakfast was delicious. We truly did not want to leave. Joao also gave us great recommendations to visit during the test of our trip. One of our favorite stays.

Le petit déjeuner est excellent, que des produits frais, maison ou locaux L'hôte est d'un naturel calme et pausé, c'est très agréable. Ses explications concernant les différents objets sont très intéressantes. Nous regrettons de n'être restés qu'une nuit.

Amazing and unique property and wonderfully kind host. My family and I loved it. We stopped here on our drive and loved exploring the castle with its shops and restaurants and walking the wall. This was right in the heart of it and the accommodations were in keeping with the character of the overall experience. Make sure you get the breakfast the next morning.... it's worth double what he charges and more. Fresh and amazing. Overall 10/10 recommended!
