Reviewed Sep 11, 2026Margaret was very charming and helpful. The key exchange worked well. Beds very comfortable and the room was clean.
Room was very cramped with no room for even a chair. No wardrobe, just three coat hangers on coat hooks. No plug for the sink and very creaky floorboards. Over looking a very busy main road with a partially double glazed window resulted in lots of traffic noise. Our room number one was over the top of a pizza shop which was fine apart from some kind of extraction fan that started around 4pm and turned off at midnight. This room is well overpriced by Booking.com and we were really disappointed with it. We had travelled up from Wexford where we had a wonderful hotel (Whites) with pool, Deluxe room overlooking the sea and breakfast included and in a great location for a very similar price per night. What a come down.

It’s a bit cramped for two adults (mainly just it being a full bed), but we knew it going in. The shower was difficult to find a proper temperature - it was either scalding hot or extremely cold.

eigenlijk niets voor een budgetkamer, had dit bij het boeken niet gezien. Kamer was klein, wel 1 en 2 persoons bed geen kast alleen een tafeltje met koffie/thee faciliteit.

Not advertised or priced as such basic accommodation. Ours was a very small room. No bedside tables so no lamps or place to put a drink or anything. No chair. Nowhere to have an open suitcase except on the bed. When case closed could put case under bed. Main light had energy saving bulb and never got bright enough to be able to read. Sockets not in places needed, an extension provided but lead went cross the shower room door. Water heater over sink leaked. No wardrobe just a few hangers on a wall hook. No hook on door for outside coats. No hook in bathroom eg on door to hang clothes or towel. No proper ventilation. If open windows, overwhelming smells from food places below and around. Window on to a strange enclosed area with people walking past though we were on the first floor. Bright light on in this area all night. Banging noise all night from somewhere within the building. Wifi didn't work very well. Step in to room not obvious though Margaret told us but it was easy to miss your footing. Needs making visible for safety.

The room is very small and hot for 3 people but considering the value and the location it is perfect for a place to just out your head down.

Reviewed Jun 15, 2026Das Zimmer liegt sehr zentral mitten in Kilkenny. Alles ist sehr schnell zu Fuß erreichbar: Sehenswürdigkeiten, Lokale, Pubs, etc. Wir wurden sehr freundlich empfangen und uns wurde ein günstiger Parkplatz für das Auto empfohlen. Das Zimmer verfügt über alles was man braucht und ist gut eingerichtet. Unsere Handtücher wurden jeden Tag gewechselt.
Bei diesen ganzen positiven Punkten kommen nun leider die schlechten. Punkt eins: das Zimmer (wir waren in Nr. 4) ist extrem klein. Für zwei Personen mit Koffern ist es sehr eng. Das Bad ist sehr klein und die Decke ist sehr niedrig. Von den Bildern hatten wir uns auf ein kleines Zimmer eingestellt, aber dieses Zimmer ist echt winzig. Es ist wichtig zu wissen, dass das Zimmer über einem Pizza-Imbiss (Apache Pizza) liegt. Damit kommen wir zu Punkt zwei: das Fenster des Zimmers zeigt in einen Luftschacht knapp unter dem Dach. Man hat also definitiv keinen schönen Ausblick, aber damit haben wir auch nicht gerechnet. Alles ok. Im Luftschacht verläuft auch der Abzug des Pizzaladens. Das Zimmer riecht selbst bei geschlossenem Fenster immer nach Fett und Essen. Man denkt beim Reinkommen, man steht in einem Imbiss... Kommen wir zum schlimmsten Punkt: der Lärm. Neben dem Abzug der Pizzeria befindet sich auch ein großes Kühlaggregat, welches direkt an der Wand neben dem Zimmer befestigt ist. Dieses ist sehr laut. Das Schlafen in diesem Zimmer ist mit dem Schlafen in einer Kabine auf einer Fähre vergleichbar. Es springt mal an und geht dann wieder aus. Es gibt sicher Menschen, die dabei schlafen können, aber wir eher nicht. Selbst mit Ohrstöpseln war es sehr laut. Für diesen Preis finden wir dies nicht angebracht.

Juste un peu de bruit qui venait probablement du restaurant d’en bas au moment de se coucher, mais pas dérangeant pendant la nuit.

Le seul endroit où il est possible de s'assoir est : sur un lit. Pas de chaise ni fauteuil. Point lumineux central et c'est tout; donc si on veut lire pendant que quelqu'un dort, il ne reste que le siège wc... Absence d'endroit où déposer ses vêtements: 3 crochets près de la porte ou le radiateur à bain d'huile ou sur la valise par terre. Chambre vraiment trop petite et doutes quant aux voies potentielles d'évacuation. On voulait séjourner quelques jours à Kilkenny mais il n'est pas facile de trouver un hébergement à prix correct. C'est dommage de privilégier les visites de cars la journée.
