Me and the Frenchie rocked up to this lovely guest house tired after a long travel. It was so bright, airy and l loved the eclectic mix of photos/paintings - certainly looked like a house well lived in. Elizabeth was so attentive to our every need. Before retiring to a kingsize bedroom which was spacious and immaculately clean - there was only a little question of "the traitors" - local tv programme which Elizabeth ensured that l could watch in the comfy "green" living room with others glued to the screen. Well, Elizabeth is deffo a "faithful" as can be attested to the scumptious breakfast the following morning. The smoothies were gulped down followed by the luscious porridge which was to die for but the secret ingredient still escapes me. The full breakfast sourced locally and french toast with spinach and cheese and homemade pesto with tomato was delicious. Homemade brown bread with marmalade finished the meal nicely. So, it was with a full stomach that we left the bright breakfast room overlooking the garden and went out the road to saunter around Glaslough and Castle Leslie.
There was nothing we didnt like.
Gorgeous breakfast with a great variety of home cooked local produce served in beautiful surroundings. Elizabeth is a super host, very informative on what to do and visit in the area.
Location is a bit out of town but there is a good taxi service with reasonable rates.
Liz is the perfect host, you could tell she loves people. I was attending a wedding at Leslie Castle and this lovely B&B is the perfect spot for it. Lots of healthy options for breakfast, beds are very comfortable. If you have transportation needs in the area, Liz will drive you no problem. Lovely garden as well. Ask her for the best pint in town, she knows! Thanks again, Daniel
We stayed at Lynster House as we were attending a wedding in Castle Leslie. Elizabeth was the most wonderful and welcoming host from start to finish, we could not have asked for more. She gave us reccomendations for a place to stop in for the best local pint of Guinness en route to Castle Leslie, and cooked us the most amazing breakfast the following morning. I couldn't reccomend this B&B more, we would love to visit again!
I wish we could have stayed longer!
Lovely welcoming property in a historic house.
This place was gorgeous and Elizabeth was brilliant
Excellent facilities, Elizabeth was a fantastic host. Location was perfect for our stay. Will definitely recommend to anyone looking for somewhere to stay in the area.
The property is absolutely beautiful, full of character and very cosy. The breakfast was absolutely delicious too
Un sitio acogedor, la dueña es un encanto, todo muy cuidado y limpio. La habitación era grande, preciosa y perfecta para sentirse como en casa.
Me gustó todo
A lovely house with an extraordinary hostess who goes out of her way to welcome guests to Monahan. The breakfast was fabulous with dishes made from scratch with local produce and gourmet recipes. Liz is an amazing ambassador for the area and she is generous with her expertise and time.
The breakfast was great, especially the Posh Porridge. Delightful.
I can find no faults whatsoever.
I loved the hostess Elizabeth who volunteered to drive us into town to meet our dinner hosts- then regaled us with stories about the town- her life- her gorgeous artwork and even played the Harp and sang for us. I felt like I was in the home of my favorite sister. We stayed up late because we were having so much fun but slept like contented children in the comfy bed. The next morning we had breakfast smoothis- awesome AWESOME porridge with dates oranges and all sorts of goodies- just DIVINE. Farm fresh eggs and special local black pudding and the best black bread in Ireland with homemade jam.oh and the backyard is Solomon cute
I only booked one night. When I return I will base my stay in the country and do daytrips from here.
On arrival we were treated by our hostess Elizabeth. Such a warm welcome and so full of knowledge of the area. The gardens on approach from driveway looked lovely. Bedroom and bathroom so clean and comfortable. Breakfast next morning was SO special. Elizabeth is so interested in food and presents beautiful breakfasts sourced from local producers. Choice to enjoy breakfast at leisure indoors in lovely art surroundings or outdoors weather permitting in lovely gardens . Such a homely setting. We really enjoyed breakfast with homemade bread, special porridge and spreads
Everything was so lovely can’t find any dislike
The house and the grounds were beautiful and well cared for. This home was an art and music lovers delight. The bed was a dream. Elizabeth took us under her wing immediately, offering exceptional hospitality, incredible advice about Monaghan and beyond, and we’re so grateful she had time to be sociable with us. The breakfast was incredible!!! Cannot recommend her or her guest house enough!

Niets!
The home was exceptional, and the breakfasts were excellent! The location was ideal for relaxation, and yet close enough to Monaghan to find colorful pubs and fine dining. Elizabeth, our host, was outstanding! She was such a pleasure to spend time with, and was altogether delightful. We were sad to say goodbye to such an interesting person- I hope we can return the hospitality if she ever visits the U.S. ☺️

We had an incredible stay at Lynster house. We didn't spend much time there as we attended a wedding locally but the breakfast the next morning was absolutely outstanding and thoroughly cured us from the night before! Elizabeth is an amazing host, she couldn't have been more helpful, we will definitely be staying again.
Nothing!
Liz was a fantastic host. The room was wonderful, light and airy. The bed was like sleeping on a cloud and the breakfast was delicious. 10/10
Clean, lots of towels provided, excellent breakfast, pretty and quirky decor.
Heating scarcely on, electric showers poor. Very high end pricing so you would expect better showers.
Beautiful artistic house, very interesting and full of character just like Elizabeth, the lovely host.
We loved meeting Elizabeth the owner, she was absolutely delightful! We felt like we were saying goodbye to a friend when we left. We even spent extra time just to visit with her. Her home was beautiful, comfortable and her breakfast delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed every bit of our stay!
It was a little difficult to find by car.
Beautiful house and so clean and comfortable, staff were lovely and cooked a delicious breakfast
Great breakfast everything home made from scratch
beautiful house, quite, so comfortable. the host was exceptional

Best B&B breakfast we have ever experienced. Location perfect for our needs.
Nothing to dislike
Wow, Elizabeth, you have a gem of a property located close to town with lovely surrounding countryside. We arrived extremely late at night and you were there to welcome us, as tired as we were, we could not have asked for a better welcome. We had a wonderful room with all amenities and bathroom needs waiting for us. A wonderful night's sleep was had on a very comfortable bed. On our two days stay Elizabeth prepared a very personal breakfast for us each morning that was to die for. We left well fed for the day. With nice grounds to sit out in the sunshine or the guests personal reading room, adequate on-site parking. We wished we could have stopped longer but we had to head off to a certain Golf tournament that was being held at Royal Portrush. We look forward to returning at the first opportunity. A wonderful stay is assured. Best wishes for your visit - Rex Smith.
Having to leave and unsure when we will be able to return as we live in Australia but we are due to return next year and will look to return again as we have relatives in Monahan and will plan our trip to ensure we do not need to stay in a hotel but at Lynster House.
The house’s forniture is elegant and cosy. Elizabeth is an excellent host. She’ll take care of you in the most thoughtful, warm and kind way possible. Don’t miss her gorgeous and exquisite Irish breakfast!
Beautiful, pastoral location. Art work was amazing. Grounds were lovely.
This beautiful property, located in Co. Monaghan, was a delight. The owner, Elizabeth, is lovely and we had a great time talking with her and learning about Ireland, and Monaghan. She is a phenomenal chef - our breakfasts were different each day and homemade by Elizabeth using locally sourced everything. Delicious!!! Our room was comfy and had a beautiful view of the garden. We were minutes from the city center and had a yummy dinner at one of the local restaurants (Andy's Bar - know for it's award winning Gins). The area was gorgeous and we spent most of a day exploring the nearby Rossmore Forest Park. It had many walking trails dotted with art installations. We could have stayed all day but wanted to explore the city center as well.
Nothing! It was a fabulous visit all around. We did not get enough time to see everything.
Elizabeth was a great host; she provided a home-cooked breakfast with locally sourced ingredients from Monaghan, which was fantastic. The rooms were cute and cozy. The bathroom was large, and the shower was very friendly, with excellent water pressure. This was our first overnight stay in Ireland in a commercial, non-hotel environment. We didn't know what to expect from the B&B experience, and overall, it was great. Our host was very knowledgeable of things to do and places to stay in the other cities of Ireland we were traveling to.
Our group was inexperienced when dining at breakfast and, at times, felt a little clumsy with all of the options offered. There were items during breakfast that we did not finish, but we tried everything offered. It was all delicious just different from our normal preferences.
Lovely country home. Very welcoming and comfortable.
nice and clean and comfortable
it does nt cater for disabilities
Breakfast was excellent
The welcome, food, room, garden… of Elizabeth 🥰
We stayed in Lynster House for 2 nights to attend a wedding in Monaghan. The breakfast on both mornings during our stay was exceptional. The beds were very comfortable. Elizabeth was a fascinating and charming host
Everything was perfect.
1st class place to stay, room beautifull, staff excellent, lovely and warm. We really enjoyed our stay. Beautifull breakfast .
Such a lovely B&B

Elizabeth is am excellent host, providing a beautiful place to stay and one of the best breakfasts we have ever had made from home grown or locally sourced ingredients and home made bread, marmalade and chutney. Highly recommended.

The breakfast was amazing and Elizabeth was an excellent host!
Everything! Very lovely!
Beautiful!
We were made so welcome at Lynster House. Sharon and Grace could not have been more helpful and friendly. We were served a freshly made, delicious two course breakfast in the dining room, with lovely views outside and many amazing works of art to admire while you eat! Even though Elizabeth, the owner, was not there herself, she contacted me to make sure that our stay was as comfortable as possible. Beautiful house and location!
Breakfast simply outstanding, the location was a haven of peace a weekend ill never forget.my
My stay a lot longer, this is a Five star Guest House
Staying at Lynster House was not just a lovely comfortable & generous bed for the night, was a whole experience where you leave thinking Monaghan is absolutely the real deal. Elizabeth says (like most hosts) ‘ask for anything’ but unlike most you really sense that she absolutely means it. Pretty sure you won’t get better hospitality - or entertainment, anywhere else in the province.
The displayed art, the atmosphere, and the friendly hostess, The Monaghan Queen!
A slight difficulty finding the location
We loved everything about lynster house. The warm and friendly welcome from Elizabeth and Sharon. The beautiful house, its gardens, and all the fabulous artwork. How kind Elizabeth was to run us into the restaurant, her recommendation of the fantastic Monaghan Spice indian. Elizabeth contacted a taxi driver for us who collected us from the Indian and then again from the theatre. On return, Elizabeth made us tea in the green room and provided water, etc. Our breakfast was perfect, two full fries and one vegetarian. It was healthy and fresh, and the coffee was exquisite. Elizabeth's homemade wheaten bread is worth travelling for! Our stay, the venue, hospitality and food were all 5 star experiences. I can't thank you enough, Elizabeth. We will definitely be back. Your love of Monaghan and music shines through and is infectious!
Absolutely nothing!
Liz was an amazing host & looked after my niece & I like family. Delicious breakfasts & cheery good humour we had a wonderful stay.
Eliszabeth the host makes the whole experience phenomenal and her breakfast is not to be missed!!
The breakfast was very good. The location was outside Monaghan Town and was very quite. The garden was lit up with coloured lights all night. We were amazed at the highstandard of everything .
We don't think you could anything.
Nothing I want a refund for how I was treated and lied to by the false information for the room I booked
Owner and staff not polite and falsely advertised the room I chose Breakfast was pathetic microwave scrambled eggs and cold dry toast I felt uncomfortable and unwelcome at the property I booked for my dog which I made her stay in my car because I felt she wasn’t allowed Overcharging for basic rooms I want a refund and i would urge people to go elsewhere Disappointed to say the least
Feeling welcomed into a home from home, Liz was beyond hospitable and we really enjoyed spending time at Lynster House. It was also so interesting to see all of the art inside and we enjoyed gaining a rich cultural experience too. Homemade breakfast was absolutely class too. Liz is wonderful and is a credit to Monaghan!
Nothing!
It was easily accessible, well located for our occasion. The property itself was impressive, had character, clean and very well presented. The breakfast that Elizabeth herself provided was 5 star alone….
I unfortunately didn’t book a bedroom with en-suite. We had a private bathroom but on the next floor above.
Lots and lots of interesting art, literature and music.
Host was really great. Lots of interesting information about beautiful Monaghan.
Fantastic breakfast and plentiful. Lovely house in a beautiful scenic setting with lots of colourful artwork and sculptures.
I liked everything.
The breakfast was very tasty and a good choice
Very friendly host who couldn’t be more helpful! Beautiful home and comfortable stay
Beautiful surroundings, quiet and just absolutely picturesque!! Also close to town.
Liz was great craic! Amazing stories, recommendations and helpful organizing for lifts.
Exceptional host, amazing home cooked food. There is nothing to fault with the stay! Just amazing!
If only we could have stayed longer…
A very warm and friendly welcome. Super comfy bed with a delicious breakfast catering for all tastes! The lights in the back garden lit up at night created a beautiful atmosphere!
I loved the house the homely feel and the great hospitality of the host. The food was excellent. I would stay again. Had a really enjoyable stay.
Beautiful place to stay, they couldn't do enough for us.10/10 we will be back again.
Lovely house and scenery
Staff very friendly and helpful house very pleasant
Th up standing and the quality of services rooms very clean we have a high level of satisfaction
Very nice place to stay! Elizabeth makes you feel welcome and makes a delicious breakfast. Highly recommend!
Very friendly and helpful breakfast was lovely just a pleasant and relaxing break
The breakfast and hospitality was fantastic. Very welcoming and extremely helpful in accommodating and organising our transport to and from the wedding venue we attended.
Incredibly welcoming and friendly host. Lovely house with interesting artwork. Quiet location. Freshly cooked breakfast and good coffee.
No tea/coffee/water in the room. Room was described as deluxe but thought it more standard compared to other places we’ve stayed. Expected an en-suite so disappointed to see private bathroom down the hall.
The breakfasts were wonderful! The host tweaked recipes, and the food that she prepared was pleasing to the eye as well as delicious. It was also very plentiful! Indoors or out, you will be surrounded by beauty at this B & B! The host was very helpful. If this is the first place you stay at on your vacation, you might be tempted to use it as the standard to compare the rest!
Warm and inviting. We felt more like family than tourists. The meals were a foodie delight, locally sourced and delicious. Our host was warm, friendly, and very knowledgeable. The house was beautifully decorated and full of light and laughter.
There were a lot of stairs. No problem for me but my husband recently had a hip replacement.
Our host was excellent. Knowledge of the area was first class. Breakfast was superb. Our host made our stay so relaxing and friendly. I would definitely stay there again, when I visit the area.
I can’t fault it, there would be nothing I would change
Check in was very easy and Elizabeth, our host, was extremely helpful, friendly and accommodating. Our breakfast was included in the price and there was nothing that was too much trouble. OMG the scrambled egg with spinach and parmesan. Yum!
We only got to stay one night.
Breakfast was fabulous, Elizabeth is a great host & has such passion & energy for Monaghan town & making it the best it can be.
Great location close to Monaghan and surrounding countryside.

Elizabeth is so welcoming and we had a fantastic stay. Breakfast was delicious and the bed was so comfy.

The breakfast was delicious and the house is spacious, clean and homely. Elizabeth is a very interactive host who was always on hand to offer information about the local area and amenities.
This far exceeded our expectations .. the arrival is almost majestic .. entering through the gates and looking at this gorgeous house and gardens. The greeting was friendly and professional .. and by someone who was really proud of how the house and rooms .. and art therein presented itself. Seriously .. this is an art gallery .. each piece with a story that the owner teasingly tells .. with the result of us wanting to spend more time here. The rooms we had (a big double with en-suite, and a big twin with an adjacent bathroom) were equally gorgeous with comfortable beds. the breakfast was really nice; we had a variety for us Monaghan breakfast, aka Irish breakfast will a story on locally sourced food, smoothies, granola, and home-made bread (we knew it was home-made, because we smelled it and saw it coming out of the oven at midnight). Stunning countryside location - a couple of kilometers outside Monaghan town.
