Good position and decent value for money, it’s a basic place but it’s also at a cheap rate; there is a nice inner courtyard

We cut our stay short from 3 to 2 nights. The budget room is very small (almost claustrophobic), had sand on the bed which, in combination with the heat, made the first night very difficult. (!!!) Read well the description of the rooms, as in the general hotel description it mentions to have air conditioning but it’s actually only in the deluxe rooms, not the budget ones.

L'emplacement, proche de la mer. Le personnel parle pas ou très peu anglais sauf 2 ou 3 personnes.

La propreté, l'eau froide de la douche (pas d'eau chaude) et la douche et le lavabo coulait très mal voir pas à certains moments de la journée. Chambre mal isolée donc du bruit. Pas de possibilité de payer en carte bleu à la fin dui séjour, le tpe ne fonctionnant pas alors que nous avions une carte internationale.

Abbiamo prenotato erroneamente una camera budget. In ogni caso, stanza piccolissima, sporca e con la zanzariera con buchi (poi sostituita a seguito nostra richiesta).

The on site restaurant was fabulous and our rooms were basic, but spotlessly clean and comfortable. Good value for money with kind and welcoming hosts who helped us find transport to the beach bar areas (Tiki Bar was a favourite) further along the beach.

What a treat of accommodation! I was so happy with everything. I took the budget room and was pleasantly surprised at the quality. It was clean, comfortable and the location was perfect.

The restaurant was a little pricy but there were many other options around.

I loved the location, how helpful Samira was with helping us manage snorkling, renting a bike, answered all our questions, food was delicious!!

Grosses Zimmer, AC funktionierte, Mückennetze vorhanden. Hilfsbereites Personal. Sehr schöne Gestaltung des B&B von aussen.

Hektische Betriebssamkeit durch den Besitzer (lautes Reden, immer was zu tun) wodurch das Entspannen manchmal schwerfiel. Daher haben wir auswärts gegessen. Verwundert waren wir auch über ein Verbotsschild, keine Getränke/Essen und Waffen (?) Im Zimmer zu führen/konsumieren. Wir haben einen gemütlichen Ort zum verweilen vermisst: der Raum oben schien nur für Restaurantgäste zu sein.

V ubytování byla velmi krátká postel. S manželem měříme 180 cm a postel byla tak krátká, že jsme se do ní nevešli. Péra z matrace nás tlačili do zad. Polštáře byly velmi nepohodlné. Na přikrytí nebylo prostěradlo, ale nějaké velké šátky. Celé spaní bylo opravdu nepohodlné. Dveře do koupelny nešly otevírat. Vždy jsme se do nich museli celou váhou opřít a rozrazit je bokem těla a ramenem. Špatně vyřešený odtok vody na zemi. Po sprchování zůstávalo na podlaze velké množství vody a písku. Vše by šlo vyřešit stěrkou. V pokoji není kde si odložit věci. Šlo by vyřešit nějakými policemi. V pokoji musíte mít otevřený kufr a neustále se přehrabávat ve věcech, protože je nemáte kam dát. Wifi prakticky nefungovala. Půjčili jsme si na celý den kola. Přijeli jsme se na ubytování jen převléknout a kola už měl někdo jiný až do večera jsme si je nemohli znovu vzít. Jídlo poměrně drahé, ale dobré.

L'atteggiamento del proprietario è pessimo. Appena siamo arrivati nessuno dello staff ci ha fatto mezzo sorriso. Lui ci ha chiesto subito di cancellare la prenotazione fatta con Booking perché così pagava meno di commissioni e poteva offrirci una camera con aria condizionata ad un prezzo vantaggioso. Abbiamo rifiutato. Il giorno dopo, dormiva sdraiato per terra di fronte alla nostra camera. Atteggiamento poco carino. Gli abbiamo chiesto un supporto per prenotare un bus per Colombo e non è stato in grado di aiutarci, ci dava informazioni confusionarie. È dovuto intervenire un altro ospite della struttura che ci ha fatto prenotare in 5 minuti online. L'ultimo giorno abbiamo dovuto cambiare stanza perché si era dimenticato che aveva una prenotazione nella nostra. Quindi, abbiamo dovuto aspettare che la nuova fosse pronta. Ristorante con prezzi molto più alti che nei dintorni. Letto scricchiolante ad ogni movimento. In generale, durante tutto il nostro viaggio abbiamo trovato persone meravigliose e accoglienti, anche nei posti più remoti. Non ho mai lasciato una recensione così negativa, ma questo posto non è minimamente all'altezza del punteggio che ha e il proprietario è il problema principale. Il personale non interagisce minimamente, la donna che gestisce i check in manco ti parla... L'unica nota positiva un ragazzo molto giovane e riccio che è sempre carino e sorridente.

Ran by a friendly family, it's a convenient and pleasant place to stay in Nilaveli. Especially recommended for those who appreciate a more informal, local atmosphere. Food is great and the owners are very kind and helpful.

Familiengeführtes Unternehmen, was auch Frauen aus dem Dorf Arbeitsmöglichkeiten schafft. Gemütliche Atmosphäre, insbesondere die Gemeinschaftsräume sind detailliert gestaltet. Wir haben ein ruhiges Zimmer bekommen, das mit dem wichtigsten ausgestattet war. Nachts war es ruhig, es gab immer Ansprechpersonen. Besonders hat uns das dazugehörige Restaurant gefallen, das Essen hier war sehr lecker und preiswert! Wir haben alle Mahlzeiten hier gegessen. Zum Nilaveli Strand ist man innerhalb von 5 Minuten schnell gelaufen. Am Anfang wird man öfters gefragt, ob man etwas unternehmen möchte. Wenn man da aber ablehnt, ist das auch okay und hat keine Benachteiligung zur Folge.

Really good spot to go to the beach, take tuk tuks to uppuveli and trincomalee and have a great breakfast and dinner.

The family was very very helpful and friendly. The location is good. The food was always fresh and delicious. We stayed there for 10 days and had all our meals there. Very nice seafood! The rooms are very basic but good for the price.

The attached restaurant in the property is not recommended. We ordered once and regretted. It is too expensive. The quality was not good. The calamari fries were rubbery, not soft. Even the pasta was not smooth. The salad was not good. Look for other options if you are in the region.

This place is not a guest house and barely qualifies as a basic hostel. It put a real dampener on what was otherwise an amazing time in Nilaveli and Uppuveli. My partner and I have been travelling around Sri Lanka for a month, including time spent staying with family in Anuradhapura, and this was by far the worst accommodation we experienced. At the time of writing this review, we are staying at a rural eco-lodge in the middle of the Sri Lankan jungle, and despite its remote location, it offers far better amenities, comfort, hospitality, and overall value for money than this place. Like several other reviewers, I struggle to understand the large number of positive reviews. It often feels as though some tourists romanticise a grungy rustic aesthetic and mistake it for an authentic Sri Lankan experience, which, in our experience, is not representative at all. The customer service was virtually non-existent from the moment we arrived until the moment we left. The staff were cold and unwelcoming throughout our stay, and there was very little effort made to make us feel welcome. We received few greetings or smiles, and when we checked out, our payment was taken without so much as a thank you, a friendly farewell, or any interest in whether we had enjoyed our stay. The overall atmosphere made us feel more like a source of income than valued guests. We did not try the food because it was significantly more expensive than nearby restaurants serving similar dishes. Given the property's remote location, we expected more competitive pricing, especially for guests staying on-site. The room was cramped and claustrophobic, and the bathroom was particularly unpleasant. The shower drain is positioned directly beside the toilet and appears to be very poorly designed. After showering, water would remain pooled on the floor, and combined with the poor drainage system and hot weather, the bathroom developed a strong foul sewage smell.

Wat een gastvrijheid in guesthouse Vibushan! Alles was top geregeld voor ons gezin met 2 kinderen. Ze hebben goede connecties voor het organiseren van excursies en enorm vriendelijk personeel. Wij en onze kinderen van 11 en 10 voelden ons er enorm thuis. Niet extreem luxe, maar een hele relaxte vibe met een goede prijskwaliteit verhouding.

Loopafstand naar het strand met 2 kinderen viel tegen, maar gelukkig konden we 4 fietsen huren tegen een kleine vergoeding.

5-10 minute walk from Nilaveli beach, good menu and spacious family room with good aircon and nicely decorated bathroom. Also nice little chill out areas.

We had a great stay here at Vibushan. Kind hosts, exceptionally clean. Very handy to walk to beach. The beach here is beautiful and safe if you have children. We did lots of long swims. And the food in the restaurant is very very good. Great breakfasts and dinners. Very good value for money.

I’m extremely surprised at the good ratings here. The bed was very uncomfortable and made a very loud squeaky noise every time you moved a finger. It was not very clean, and we had mouse poop in the thing to put the toothbrush. When asked for recommendations for a boat tour he sent a “friend” to scam us. The cleaning lady was looking at us with the side eye every single time. Honestly it’s the very first bad review I put in Sri Lanka and I’m so surprised at the low standards that made anyone put 5 stars here

I booked 3 nights but ended staying for 10 nights, fantastic value for money, clean, comfortable and a good general vibe about the place, the home cooked dinners are very tasty and great value. The owner will organise local trips and bicycle and scooter hire is also available. Recommended 💯%

An excellent, friendly family run property; very clean with decent home cooked food. It is also the only place that has a borrow/swap book library... Bicycles are available to hire :)

This beautiful family-run guesthouse has a laid-back atmosphere while everyone is very friendly and helpful. The check-in was quick and easy. Our room was quite small, but okay for sleeping. There is a porch in front of the rooms with chairs and tables for each room. Additionally, one can use the public hammocks and deck chairs. All seating options are shaded. Upstairs is a newly built restaurant in a charming wooden style. The food is very tasty. There are a variety of different meals available (noodles, rice, salads etc. - with seafood, chicken, egg or just vegetables). The grilled local fish fresh from the sea was very good! Furthermore, a variety of delicious juices is on offer. It's just a short walk from the beach in Nilaveli (500 m). Even closer is the office of Pigeon Island Tours (200 m): Although quite pricey because of the high fee for the National Park, we can highly recommend this operator as the snorkeling was amazing! They were very professional and we have seen sharks, turtles, lots of different colorful fishes and beautiful corals.

The owners of the homestay are so so lovely. Made me feel extremely welcome from the moment I arrived. The accommodation is extremely clean and tidy and the rooms are cleaned regularly with fresh towels and linen. The food here is also delicious and they have a vast food menu so lots of choice.

We had an amazing time staying here! The location was perfect, very relaxing and super near the beach, the owner helped us book a snorkeling tour of Pigeon Island and was really easy to do this trip as the boats set off from the beach which is less than a 5 minute walk away. The food was amazing, we ate almost all of our meals here, and the breakfasts had a great choice with nice juices. We stayed here for 2 nights and wish we stayed longer!

 I just visited vibushan guest house in the previous month, and I was mesmerized to see their luxurious accommodations. Their staff behaviour is also excellent, and I would love to visit again.

After conducting research, I selected (vibushan guest house). I was highly impressed with its clean and comfortable rooms and additional facilities. I highly recommend it! The secure and safe environment of this hotel will always have my heart. I have recommended that others visit (vibushan guest) once, and I can assure you that they will never regret it. Séjour exceptionnel ! L’hospitalité ici est tout simplement incroyable. Dès mon arrivée, j’ai été accueilli comme un membre de la famille. L’hôte, ainsi que toute sa famille, ont été d’une gentillesse et d’une attention rares, toujours souriants, disponibles, et prêts à aider. On sent un vrai sens de l’accueil sincère, pas juste professionnel. La chambre était impeccable, confortable et très calme. Le jardin est paisible, parfait pour se détendre, et les repas maison étaient délicieux. Un vrai coup de cœur humain et un endroit que je recommande à 100 %.

The place was walking distance to the beach, local restaurants etc. The food was good and the staff were kind.

The property was super close to the beach and near lots of good restaurants. The atmosphere was great and the restaurant attached was lovely too. There was a free library which was appreciated, and lots of places to sit outside your room.

The bed sheets were quite small, and there were a lot of mosquitoes when we first got into our room (however we didn’t get bitten and they did go away).

Jidlo bylo velmi chutne. Ubytovani je asi 450 m od plaze. Pokoj byl maly a proste vybaveny, ale odpovidal popisu. Kdyz bylo cokoliv potreba, vsechno bylo rychle vyreseno.

L’emplacement de l’établissement est très proche des plages, dans la chambre nous avons moustiquaires, douche. La cuisine est délicieuse , les cuisinières sont très gentilles .

Le propriétaire est très désagréable, il veut nous vendre le plus de choses possibles, avec des prix pas forcément avantageux. Lorsqu’il s’adresse à nous il est désobligeant, rote en plein milieu de la conversation… Nous avons été très déçu de son attitude , je n’y retournerai pas.
