We loved the location, especially for anyone attending an event at Petite Château, as it’s only a 2-minute walk away. Check-in was very easy with the self check-in system, and breakfast was great with excellent service. We also really appreciated how quickly the staff responded when we raised an issue with our room, offering us a new room straight away. The second room was clean, had blinds and a much more comfortable bed, which made a huge difference to our stay.
Unfortunately, our initial room, the Kielder Room, had a very strong smell of damp as soon as we walked in. The bed was also quite small, so taller guests may struggle, and the mattress was very hard. The curtains let quite a lot of light through and there was a street light directly outside the room, so we would recommend bringing an eye mask if you’re sensitive to light.
Staff were very accommodating as we were staying to enable us to attend a nearby wedding before the said check in time and they allowed us early access to our room as it was ready.
Very basic but meticulously clean with accessories provided
Breakfast was superb, all quality ingredients.
Milk in the rooms
Perfect location for a wedding we were attending nearby. Rooms were spotless clean with great facilities. Breakfast was excellent.
Staff super friendly and heplful. Great loaction for attending wedding venue. Lovely quiet homley room. Great views from garden of property. Breakfast cooked to order, along with a nice continental range and self service tea/coffee toast etc... Excellent value at price point compared to similar accomodations in area. Room was spotless and ideal for our overnight stay. Miles better than staying at wedding venue we attended, which we have used for a stay in the past.
Only one very small criticism was the bed, it seemed on the small side for a double (maybe we are just used to our king size bed) however that wouldn't stop me going back or recommending anyone else to use this fabulous guest house.
Lovely location and lovely staff!
Lovely breakfast and comfortable rooms
There is a small arpark free if charge which was good. We were able to check in about an hour before check in time and that was nice. The place is clean, spacious room and bathroom. We were in 3 bed apartment. Staff were friendly. The place is 5mins walk from the pub and Chateau if you are going there for the Wedding.
There was no hot water. Double bed was small. Our room had a broken lock from the inside the room Breakfast was way below the average and tables were sticky and dirty when we arrived there for breakfast first thing at 8:30am.
Well kept B&B in an excellent location. Plenty of space good facilities. Smiley staff who was very attentive at breakfast which was plentiful and freshly cooked. Good parking .
Stairs to bedroom could be a challenge to oldies but not a bog problem.
Friendly staff and nice facilities
Bar was closed in the afternoon which was a shame. No hot water for the shower
Second time staying and great location for nearby wedding venues. Rooms are basic but clean with everything you need. Breakfast host was so friendly and breakfast was perfect.
Not a negative just personal preference, it would be good to have a little fridge in the room. I know there is a communal one in the sitting area but for cold water/drink during the night or milk for tea/coffee during the day it would be a bonus than having to leave your room.
Clean and ideal location for the wedding venue

Chambre confortable et calme .
Really relaxing staff really helpful and friendly
Lovely rooms very comfortable & clean. Breakfast was great with loads of choice.
Room was directly next to the main road. A parked car was within 1 metre of the bedroom window. Traffic noise.
Lovely newly refurbished property
The host was lovely, friendly and attentive - nothing was too much trouble. The room was spacious and the bed was super comfy!
Great location just up the road from a wedding we were attending at Le Petit Chateau. Very clean and comfortable rooms.
Nothing I didn’t like
Easy to navigate and the rooms were enough for an overnight stay for a wedding/event. Comfortable enough. Breakfast the next day was superb. Having a dietary requirement (coeliac) I was incredibly well catered for and looked after. Brilliant experience all round.
Everything, the staff and host were top notch
Nothing
Easy to access,lovely breakfast,big room,everything we needed
The room was OK however there was no hot water for a shower in the morning. Obviously this happens quite a bit as there was mention in the handout literature that you need to let the water run. I did this for 5 minutes and still nothing.
Hot water!
Location
Breakfast was way too late at 10am even with an option for a takeaway at 8am. If you can make a takeaway bacon roll at 8am why can't you have a sit down breakfast at 8. No milk in room for the tea/coffee, you had to walk to the lounge where there was a fridge
Just a very nice stay in a village , there is a nice hotel for dinner
Just very homely left alone to use the garden and all the facilities
Very clean - and breakfast was good!
23c summer heat - with absolutely NO aircon / not even a fan. The rooms were around 30c and impossible to sleep in. Never experienced anything like it - the staff clearly not prepared and didnt really care for guests as it was totally unacceptable temp for a booking to even be comfortable despite spending so much money to stay. Not even a bottle of water in the room with that heat.
Clean, lovely breakfast, comfortable room
Road noise at night
We attended a wedding at one of the venues in Otterburn and it was perfect for our needs but if I was exploring the lovely countryside it would be a great base
Great location; excellent communication at all times; such a lovely,?peaceful room; and a wonderful breakfast served by a great chef.
Stayed at the Butterchurn as I was attending a wedding at the chateau Communicating with Darren was very easy and checkin was straightforward
The price via booking.com was quite expensive Others who booked directly did get their rooms cheaper
Lovey breakfast , ordered and served promptly. Self service tea , coffee, juice , and toast.
Nothing
Nice area
A slight fusty smell in the room. Terribly thin curtains letting lots of lighting .Crack in the shower tray . Faulty door on the shower. Plug in the sink didn’t work . Uncomfortable bed. Child running around in the room about us. And could hear a lot of movement from 6:15 am.
The rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. There was a good choice at breakfast. It was nice to have a communal TV lounge.
Good location for wedding guests, there being 3 wedding venues within a mile
No personal greeting on arrival, very much do it yourself, messages were not received despite the owner’s insistence we had received
A Great place to stay, breakfast was spot on.
Breakfast was excellent served with a smile. Bed very comfortable. Room was next to the main road but we had no noise issues.
A slightly later breakfast would have been better after being at a wedding.
Location fab. Breakfast lovely ( especially person making breakfast) Garden area beautiful.
Room not up to standard for rate paid room smelt damp, tea try area dirty. Location fab not sure why they have a licenced bar that isn't open.
Perfect for our stop over on the Sandstone Way. Great showers. Lovely breakfast cooked to order.
Our room was onto the street, so a tiny bit of traffic.
A lovely place to stay We had a wedding at the le petit chateau literally a 1 min walk away
Clean and comfortable. Excellent facilities and location. Lovely breakfast.
All fine, nothing to moan about.
Very comfortable and nicely decorated. Lovely freshly cooked breakfast. Friendly staff. Peaceful and nice views out the back. Got some great suggestions for walking.
Liked it a lot. Some fresh fruit at breakfast would have been welcome. And maybe a local OS map since it is a good walking area. But minor points, it was good.
Darren went above and beyond, will definitely recommend
Perfect location as we were guests at a wedding nearby. Stayed in Padon room which was lovely, comfy beds, lovely breakfast and friendly staff. Nice little touches in the room, biscuits with tea tray and fresh milk available.
Nothing.
Close to the Chateau for our friends wedding. Felt like a home away from home ☺️
So much to like, beautiful grounds, spacious clean room and bathroom. Friendly staff we arrived at 1.30 and even though the cafe closed at 2pm we were offered food and drinks. The area is lovely we found a couple of lovely local walks and had drinks at the William-De-Percy.
The only suggestions I’d make us to have some comfortable seats in the garden to enjoy the surrounding s and to let guests know the opening times of the cafe/licensed bar.
Great location for where we needed, good amenities. Excellent breakfast and lots of options.
Check out was quite early
Clean convenient and comfy beds
Nothing in particular
Friendly staff, great food and the rooms were clean and comfortable. Loved the self check in system and was really close to the venue we were going to.
Very nice, perfect setting
Can’t think of anything.
The guesthouse is a beautiful little building very close to the petite chateau which was perfect for us attending a wedding It’s clean and welcoming. Breakfast was freshly served with help yourself to cereals ect
The beds weren’t the most comfortable I’ve slept in
Lovely room, breakfast was beautiful.
The property was very clean, staff were very friendly we would definitely be visiting again. The location was close to the venue the reason for visiting and the area around is lovely

Good location homely place..
Nice homely property with a well tended outside area, great views overlooking the hills…Only issues we had were minor and didn’t spoil our stay.. The shower tray had a crack in it.. skirting boards in bathroom a bit dusty.. nothing too major .. There were problems with the heating due to weather issues and were waiting on a plumber to go fix it. Proprietor had put oil heaters in the rooms which warmed up quickly and took the chill off.. We had problems with the electricity in our room, had gone off, the proprietor Darren, was very accommodating and had Hazel - who lives onsite- to come and sort it out which she did. I think Hazel also did the breakfasts which were excellent! All in all a really nice stay 😃
The location was good for a wedding at Woodhill Hall although you'd still need to drive or taxi to this venue as it's a rural location with no streetlights or footpaths
Butternut was such a disappointment. There were a catalogue of problems including a shower that could not be used due to a broken thermostat resulting in boiling hot water. The toilet seat was broken and wobbled about when sat on. The metal bathroom bin lid was covered in rust. There is no blind/net just curtains in our room facing the street at ground level which meant passers by could see fully into the room unless you kept the curtains closed. The room and lounge area was freezing as the central heating boiler was broken. A provided plug in radiator was inadequate and then a power cut on the last morning meant we had no option but to leave very cold and unwashed at 8am without breakfast. Extremely poor stay
Great location to Le Petite Chateau which is what we needed for our friends wedding. Gorgeous brekkie and plenty choice
No central heating, we weren’t aware of this before arrival but still paid full price. Little heaters in our rooms did keep the chill off, though. However my room also didn’t have hot water on so I ended up having a freezing cold shower. Not ideal of course but it didn’t put me off I would absolutely stay again.
Really friendly, super clean. Would definitely book again.
We could not get the tv to work. But only there one night so not a real issue.
Absolutely great stay
Nothing
The lady who was in the breakfast area was amazing nice smile like she actually wanted to be there which is a lovely change, could not fault this B&b
Clean, great location, lovely staff!
Nothing!
Lovely host who helped us throughout our stay. Room was lovely and cosy. Breakfasts were tasty. Great location close to the wedding venue aswell.
Only available oat milk was during breakfast time, though this is something I could have brought myself. Couple of towels from the hamper fresh were dirty so we didn't use those.
Clean & comfortable. Breakfast was nice. Lady working was very pleasant.
We had a very bad leak in our bathroom. I know it wasn’t the venues fault but it did impact our stay & I wouldn’t have expected to pay full price - some sort of gesture would have been appreciated.
Comfy bed. Nice breakfast.
No staff when we arrived so didn't know which room was ours. Had to ring to f7nd out.
Great location
Easy check in, comfy room, excellent breakfast and friendly staff. Great location for attending a wedding at Le Petit Château, only 1 minutes walk away.
Perfect location , lovely surrounds , breakfast was excellent , hot, fresh and we were “looked after” by a very pleasant lady who was “the Jack of all trades” in the kitchen and breakfast room , - email instructions from you , re key etc etc were all very helpful cannot think of anything that could have improved our stay !
Cannot think of anything that could have improved our stay, nothing we did not like , !
Great for the price, just seconds away from the wedding we were at so perfect location, b.fast was great
We couldn't seem to alter the shower temp which was a little on the hot side but manageable
Very homely, relaxed and nothing too much trouble, ideal location for wedding at Woodhill hall, with a short taxi ride less than a mile but not ideal to walk in your party shoes! Breakfast was lovely with quality ingredients. You can have as much or little as you please. The room was very well presented also.
There is nothing to not like.
Breakfast was great plenty of choices the staff where very welcoming would definitely stay again
Everything was great
Very nicely set out. Location perfect for our needs.
Stayed at butterchurn as attending wedding next door, much cheaper but had lovely room and the garden area was lovely
Possibly a ramp into the building for people with mobility issues but we managed, there is a ramp up to the the front door but has a small lip on the front door that my mothers mobility scooter cldnt go over but I managed lift it across as she can walk a little
Breakfast was lovely and staff member cooked a lovely bacon and sausage butties for us
Only slight problem was the toilet being downstairs in our room with our beds up stairs. But wasn’t much of a problem.
The distance to the wedding location we attended.
There were no staff there to help at all to help or advise. The room was really cold and damp. The bar onsite was closed so unable to get a drink when we returned to the accommodation.
Good location, friendly staff, good breakfast
Nice and clean. And the breakfast was superb
You could hear people talking in the room next to us. The walls are paper thin.
